  • Review of an F3 flight controller with built-in OSD!
    Uses the standard SPRacingF3 hex but uses a USB-TTL adapter for firmware programming. Should be nice for smaller builds with less messy wiring.

    Thanks mate from Australia on the gold coast. Your the only one on TH-cam talking about this controller. Glad I found you. Just bought one of these was worried about how to connect it to my clean flight.

    Hi is there any chance you could tell me were to plug board in to use on etc betaflight, inav not having much luck.
    Keep having a little green light flickering that it . plug in to another port get same green light and a red flashing one looked for a boot button but nothing on board.
    Do i have to power board first please help most gratefully if you could.

    Hi, thanks for the video.
    At last find some information on this board.
    At the moment everything works for me but I can not find information on how to connect an IBUS FS-A8S transmitter.
    In a normal F3 this transmitter is connected to the welding points of the UART2 ( TX, Gnd and Positive) but in this plate I do not know where to solder the three cables (Negative, Positive and Signal)
    Can somebody help me??
    Thank you.

    I have this thing wired directly to the battery using vbat pads, however mw osd will not display correct voltages. it's stuck at 15.3 no matter what I do :(

      3D RC Did you end up sorting this out? I've had the fc for a while now and after updating minimosd +betaflight I did something wrong, so now my voltages are constant 16.4V....

    Thank you for making this video.
    Two questions:
    1 .How do you flash CleanFlight on this board? I am using the provided USB2TTL adapter with the pins connected as you show but I am always getting a "No response from the bootloader" error. EDIT: Need to disconnect the white cable pin from the USB2TTL flasher and select "Manual Speed 256k" on CleanFlight Configurator.
    2. Is it safe to power the board via the VBAT pins on 3S?
    Many thanks in advance.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FrontierNG The vbat pins just detect voltage reading. You still need a 5v source for board power

    ciao,scusa ma non parlo inglese..
    Ho la tua stessa FC... utilizzo la MSP come porta di configurazione,la UART2 per la RX e la UART3 per il GPS (uso INAV).
    Ho caricato MWOSD ma quando accendo mi dice NO DATA?
    Hai qualche idea??
    Grazie in anticipo

  • @normoa
    @normoa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just got the board. Updated the FC and OSD software (eventually).
    I've quickly checked that the configured OSD display appears via the camera / VTX, but am unsure if there needs to be some software config done to actually get the FC data to be reflected on the OSD i.e. did they simply put a separate MinimOSD on the board which gets the data for display or do you have to configure a UART to allow it to be displayed.
    Ideas, anyone?

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +normoa you need to configure the UART and enable MSP

    • @normoa

      Which UART (presumably UART2) and does it require wiring from the OSD port to the UART?
      Can you give me a bit more details with the setup? (Presume I'm dumb and you may not go far wrong... :D )

    I been having issues with my quad after changing motors. Got rid of the wobbles after raising tpa then I figured out how to flash the firmware. But for some reason I have no osd now. All the stitches are turned on in clean flight but still no osd. Do I need to download the osd as your talking about? The timer works but no flight modes or battery voltage Wich I need and no arm disarm. It just flashes and says no data. Help please? Lol

      I'm all hooked up. But betaflight in the tab menu is written: "Your flight controller does not respond to commands menu. It probably means that it does not have an integrated BetaFlight of OSD" in the Flight controller just like in the video(F3 flight controller with integrated OSD).

      Sorry, that's the only documentation I'm aware of. For the VTX and Camera, you connect those to VOUT and VIN (stands for video out and video in). It's clearly labelled on one of the diagrams in the manual.

      Probably for the osd to enter "pal" mode or "ntsc" mode.
      Un-soldered means ntsc, soldered means pal.
      That's my guess!

    Hi Albert, maybe you can help me,
    I can't see my receiver input on Raceflight on this board. I'm connected with sbus from my xsr to the pin 3 on UART3 (ch3).
    On Configuration Tab, I set up RX_SERIAL and sbus. On Ports section, UART3 is used for Serial RX and UART2 is used for telemetry.
    I can read the battery pack voltage on my Taranis so the telemetry is working but my control input are not working. Do you have any idea?
    Thank you

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure you connected to RX and not TX? That's usually a common mistake that people often overlook.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a 3.3v output documented in the manual on page 1. There is no dedicated spektrum port. You have to grab 3.3v, GND, and RX from one of the UARTs.

    • @johnnym7904
      @johnnym7904 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so going by the docs it says gnd ch3 and adc1 or 2 for the 3.3v on the Io-2 connector. I think that's right ? thank you very much for your quick response albert!

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get ground anywhere. The 3.3v pin is the one that's important. Also the RX of whatever UART you choose.

  • @jonbbaca5580
    @jonbbaca5580 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeap with the included USB-TTL adapter you can program either the osd or the fc , depends on the slot you connect it.. and its easier for later programming to connect the small adapter rather than the usb plug in the quad

    1103, 1104 motors? Someday?

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      1104 motors going on the mosquito but my PDB is lost in the mail so there's a delay there. The 1103 will require a custom frame so might be a while. Is there a specific question about those motors I can address in the interim?

    • @set7075
      @set7075 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm searching the web for smallest, brushless, affordable setup. Actual weight of the motors? Wich props this motors can spin without the overheating? Which battery can handle? Some thrust test. Any suggestion for other components? ESC, FC, frame ~100mm or less. And so on. Thanks.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a brief overview video on the 1104 motors. They are very similar to the DYS motors. You can probably run them on 2 or 3S lipos with 3020 or 2535 props. They require a special T-style prop. I believe the weight was 5g but I did weigh them in the video if you check it out. I will do an overview video on the 1104 and try and address these questions. Thanks for your feedback.

      +Roman Mic for more affordable setup avoid 1104 and smaller. Those are more expensive because the parts are scarce. Go with a 1306 130 size build.
