The fact that you can barely see the screen, but can see it enough to do stuff in your DAW is a HUGE advantage! You rely so much more on your ears! And so many people have tried makin' this type of video, yet so many people have failed. I really appreciate this video, I learned more from this than I've done by watching tutorials for the last who knows how many months! It's also really dope to see all these mixing tricks you teach us, being used in a real mix - and not just for some tutorial video. THANK YOU, LifeStyleDidIt!
I learned more from one video from you about mixing than I did from 15 of the last ones I’ve watched lmao. So detailed and easy to follow. Great video!
I did a beat today and mixed it entirely! But after this here video I am going to re-mix it again using these steps and save the first mixdown for comparison reasons. Overall, a fantastic video man big ups to you for looking out for us producers. You the Main Man for sure.
Awesome video. It's great when producers show us how it's really done, while explaining what they're doing. So, I appreciate you doin that for us. I'm already learning a lot from you and I just started watching your videos. Keep up the great work
Great video. This concept is exactly what I need. A whole series on this would be brilliant. When you are talking about 'cheapness' sound in the piano and 'build ups' in the frequency spectrum..I know you have to train your ear to notice these things but could you do a video where you go through the EQ process and point out what you notice so we can gain an insight on what youve heard (if this make sense)
Sometimes i dont get to your videos right when you upload them, but BEST BELIEVE i got that shit saved up in Watch Later. Droppin back to back gems man you've really been killin it out here. Seeing these videos always make me launch fl studio so thank you bro thats all i gotta say.
Something I never knew about using the Parametric EQ2 is if you know what key you're in you can right click on a band in the EQ and go down to key and pick the key you're in and how much you want to cut in that key idk if that's helpful or not when it comes to mixing but it's something new to me I'm not a mix god or anything so I'm not sure if that's helpful or not
Bruh the two lines on the mixer represent left and right pan bruh when u said that I was like how tf did I not realise that before. Great video my mixing sucks so watching this really helps me I’d like to see more videos of this series
Tim Andersson thanks for watching! I personally don’t go anywhere close to that because low C registers at the fundamental frequency of 32.7 hz. Sometimes I use low A and that’s even lower so I don’t wanna be chopping off the fundamental frequency of my 808! It really depends! Thanks for watching
Thats a different genre of music, the generally have higher root keys so there arent any important elements below 35Hz. Hip hop/trap can be darker and have a lot of energy below 35Hz, if you cut that out it will choke the energy from your song. Depends on the mix though.
Thanks man. Thats was the best video that ive seen about mixing. But I have a question, what does a clipper do? And please tell us more about mixing with saturation.
hello good job ! you compare peak level for each instruments (between kick and snare) but peak doesn't mean how the sound is loud or not... maybe you can try this thecnique with rms or lufs meter ? (may my idea it's mystake but it's good to learn everydday so if im not in the good way tell me ;))
I have a question: why wasnt it necessary to gain stage first? Why did the mixing start right with the leveling. Much love and your videos are amazing!
I just have a question, how come are you mixing on headphones? isn’t it “bad” to mix on headphones because most headphones boost and cut certain frequencies.
if you get "monitor" headphones and not like beats or something like that it doesn't have a huge effect. those audio technicas are pretty good, or if you get sennheisers or anything like that they're a lot more flat. Also, I don't know how his room is, but if you have bad acoustics in your room, you're probably better off mixing on headphones anyways
Wow this is amazing. please why did you added saturation to your master buss before mixing. and are you going to leave it when exporting the beat or you will disable it before exporting? please i need an answer to this because i have seen many producers using this method and i don't know why!!!
YoOo. Add the end of these vids can you put on youlean loudness meter so I can peep the dynamic range and the LUFS (perceived loudness)? just curious because everyone is always using different headroom so I'm curious the results.
Really cool!!!! I don't usually mix mono but I think now i'll do it! Then I have a concern ... when processing the equalization of drums, I noticed that you do the low shelf on low frequencies (the kick especially); on the other hand it is low cut that I usually do to eliminate all "vroom" during the mastering. Am I wrong? In any case beautiful video and thank you very much for the time you grant us.
Julien Epouhe high pass filtering aggressively cuts all frequencies below the cut, so it truly depends what you wanna do! I’ll just use a shelf when trimming lowend on let’s say a piano, because I want the low end gone but not as empty. On the master, if I do a low cut, I always use a pass filter
I see the Kick and 808 are set to mono until the end of the video, do you usually leave them like that after mixing? I mean , should kicks and 808s be in mono in the end (when the beat is finished) ?
You made this really easy to follow man. You are literally my new favorite music channel on TH-cam.

@@thriift840 I said you should EQ the mlodies, not the 808
