    In my experience, the typical reason the 808 spikes is from some click at the beginning or end. In the envelope, I turn up the attack just a tiny bit at like 1%. That usually fixes it for me.

    • @nikkikaintura
      @nikkikaintura 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From my experience its due to the notes played in the 808. I mean the higher the notes more the frequencies and the peak will be high.

    • @user-lt2rw5nr9s
      @user-lt2rw5nr9s 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikkikaintura The higher the note, the more perceived volume, but changing the pitch doesn't change the "power" of the sound it just shifts the frequency content. You could have a strong 1hz/0hz sound at -1.0 db and not hear anything, but increase the pitch and it will sound louder. Maybe I'm mistaken, I don't have my DAW right now to test that example. Maybe some wackier 808s have distortion or something done to them that causes that, but I've had crazy 808 patterns that stayed to pretty much the same db level once I declicked it.

    Glad you also used Waves Plugins! I'm kinda tired of the mixing videos with only stock plugins tbh 😅 but it's good for beginners i guess. Nice tutorial as always man!

      put 808 on -15db and kick on -(12-9)db then level other instruments like you want, but kick have to be the loudest part of your mix (in mono it would be easier)

    I get this is how you mix, but its not the right way to mix. I went to school for audio engineering and the first thing you always do is gain stage your tracks and not with the mixer faders. Not hating its just that you are giving out misinformation. If you gain staged your tracks you wouldn't have to use limiters on them. Limiters should really only be used for mastering.

    • @user-lt2rw5nr9s
      @user-lt2rw5nr9s 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There's always someone saying there's a right way to do something, but there's more than one way to skin a cat and sound good. I do agree with leveling through the channel rack first. I don't usually have to turn faders down unless the effect is crazy and there isn't an output slider in the plugin.

      bro can u help me with a doubt..i wanted to know that at what db should our beat hit after a mix?? i have seen vids telling that we should mixing around six db but i have also seen videos in which they mix their beats at 0db ..their kick is too loud and sounds quite punchier...but if i my beat till six db the kick looses its punch and loudness ..even if i master the beat the kick does not have that earlier punch and loudness..plzz help me bro

    • @user-lt2rw5nr9s
      @user-lt2rw5nr9s 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RavinasAmazingWorld If you are uploading to a streaming service, the true peak is usually -1db. LUFs play more of a role here than just db. Look up the LUF limits for which ever platform you are uploading to and get it close as possible with a loundess meter plugin. If your final beat is only around -6db, you will definitely have to turn the volume up on the master. You can use Maximus, Ozone, or even just a limiter gain knob to get the beat closer to -1db.

    • @ProdSwelly
      @ProdSwelly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He has talked about gain staging before pretty sure but honestly he isn’t mastering like that so the faders should do it it’s a pretty simple mix video not too technically or anything

    • @Arsonloke
      @Arsonloke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RavinasAmazingWorld you should gainstage all of your tracks to around -18db. Once you do that and mix your beat your master channel strip should be around -6db. This will give you headroom to master. When you master your beat you want to put the ceiling on your limiter at -.01db and increase the gain to get the right amount of loudness with no distortion. More goes into mastering than like midside eq and slight compression and so on. If you want your kicks to be more punchy you can always eq them and add some compression. Or you can use a free plugin like Diablo lite that will make your kicks and 808s hit harder.
