Dude, not to sound like an ass. But you're also talking about a kid who blasted the front rotor of his dirt bike with WD-40 because it was rusty and then complained that his bike wouldn't stop. I honestly think he should keep his hands off of anything 2-stroke. But that's just my opinion about him. He seems like a total dunce when it comes to anything he gets his hands on. For some reason I could see him getting his hands on a rare big cc chain saw and then crying that it doesn't run good on water. :P
See you all at 12 PM ET today! Remember, this is a premiere video, so it will be a live showing and I will be active in the live chatbox! You all rock! See you soon!
Mike in enjoined your channel and you bro! I love Honda's especially 2 Strokes. I had a female friend who her And I had CONTACT TO THE FINAL DEGREE ON THE TRX. I probably shouldn't have TRUMPED THAT ON YOUR CHANNEL. Sorry. The engine Was rated @ 39 HP but properly uncorked it was a more like 43. The bike turned faster than the Suzuki and the Banshee. I added a tooth too the rear sprocket and it made a huge difference. I'm looking forward to the FUTURE and seeing you ride her. Thanks for the effort that you put in your channel. ✌
I love your videos, you get down with the little details and making things perfect like I do 👌🏻 I wanna do a bottom end, I’ve done lots of top ends and just had to do crank seals on an 85. I’m super into this and very mechanically inclined. Just got a digital 1/4 torque ratchet too 🔥
The cr125 clutch basket and inner clutch basket will fit in a trx250r Arlan at LED is doing that to my motor you use cr125 clutch plates and 250r steels. And if you get your pipe before I get my cases back from LED I'm going to be mad.lol 7 weeks
This is my hinson story.....so I bought the basket inner boss and outer boss separate from 3 different sellers and the basket was 150 new open box....the inner and outer were very slightly used...I got the plates and fiber kit for 100 and I went with aftermarket Barnett springs....they have some gold shit coated onto them that's makes them special somehow not sure...but I saved like 600 bucks buy not buying the complete kit....the action after install is really smooth
Wouldn’t you need a different inner hub? since your adding another friction and steel it looks like the last steel wouldn’t engage with the inner hub. 26:35
sweet set up dude . ive always just ran hinson clutches with the basket . their disks are dimpled now smooth and never had problems and ive raced mine for many years . then you dont have all kinds of other parts you have to find . just one call thats all . hinson is the way lol . and anything klutz is top of the line . i do wonder though if this neils clutch set up is cheaper than hinson though
I think price-wise, the Hinson fibers and discs is actually cheaper. OEM stuff purchased individually is usually not cheap; mine sure wasn't. However, the OEM stuff is supposed to wear very well so I'll try it.
Hey dude your a michigan guy right. Do i have to rejet my carburetor to accept the corona virus will it lean or ritchen my fuel to air ratio i heard it starves the bike for air.
Omg dude 😂 If we got bikes popping because of corona; we got some serious problems. I am a Philly guy. Might be confused because I do a lot of work with DBC Racing and they're in MI.
Hey mike I'm working on my friends rmz250 now weirdly the clutch cover is rubbing the pressure plate what's going on I'm pulling my hair trying to figure this out.what would cause it to touch the cover like that. To the point when the cover is tight the kicker wont return.
Man I just did this on my dads ltr450 and now the clutch lever wont fully disengage the clutch. If you pull it and try to into first it will stall out. Think the lever just needs to be adjusted?
That's what it sounds like to me, could be as easy as tightening up your cable. Might want to inspect your clutch basket fingers too,, if they're grooved, it can cause the clutch to hang up.
Michael Sabo I replaced the basket with a hi son and inner hub with another brand. I trued adjusting it and now it bangs into gear. It won’t let me put it into neutral. It skips and goes into 2nd. I’m not sure if I just don’t know how to adjust the clutch cable correctly. My dad said it wouldn’t bang into gear before. I also put Tusk heavy duty springs in it as well. I only soaked the clutch discs in oil for like an hour so maybe that is the cause. He is going to take it to the power sports mechanic because I don’t want to ruin anything.
@@Jursaw its not because you only soaked the plates for an hour. So it had normal function before? Its possible the new clutch pack is too thick causing it to never fully disengage. You may need to use a different washer on your pressure plate or mess with your cable some more. It's hard to diagnose without seeing it, i hope you're able to figure it out man.
Michael Sabo Thank you for your help! My dad said the clutch lever was always hard to pull since he bought it used but it never banged into gear. This past weekend he said the clutch was toast. Ill comment once I hear back from his atv mechanic
I actually researched this before making the video; from what I found; bolts can be peened on the edge or the middle. Other people actually mushroom the end of the bolt with a peening hammer if there are enough threads exposed. Hinson did not specify where they recommend you make your peen.
@@MichaelSabo Cool! Just wanted to make sure. I'm not the biggest fan of the Hinson instructions. My dad and I are rebuilding my old Z400 and restoring one of Chris Borich's LTRs from last season. I just finished putting a new hinson basket in the LTR yesterday. I'll be sure to send over some pics once we finish both up!
Don’t forget to also install this rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F390930501270 upgrade while you have your clutch apart👍🏼. Big difference on the pull.
Michael Sabo This update only came on the ‘1989 TRX. It comes with the new end pressure plate, Push rod & end cap & the flat washer & flat needle style bearing. Early years just pushed on a single ball bearing at the end of the rod, and the end cap.
You may be able to find one used that's already assembled, but as far as I know, you can only buy the basket and gear separately; if you're buying the new gear, the hardest part of drilling the rivets is taken out of the process
How are you going to skip showing the thrust washer, spring, washer, screw, whatever, combo? I wanted to see what order they go in. C’mon Mike, I need you here!! 🤘😀
Tyler guy is like a needy girlfriend that keeps clinging to you waiting for you to say.... holy fuck ok love you ...you hear me love you, jesus christ.
Decent video man! Be aware of just how much the larger torque wrench is off spec though. Like you say, you’re reducing down a lot! To let other folks know. If you’re in the bottom or top 10-15% or so of the range of a spring type torque wrench then they’re really unreliable. Get a bigger or smaller wrench if at all possible. I understand that a new torque wrench is expensive for a lot of guys, but it’s a hell of a lot less than a new case if they’re stripping out smaller bolts using too large torque wrench.
I have a lt500r (quadzilla) engine on a stretched out ltz400 frame and the lt500r has a dr.q 540 stroker in it I trail ride it I live Philadelphia in any one lives here and wants to ride

Well ur build got me. I bought a 86 r yesterday
I bought a Banshee after the last one then there was just a sick ass 250R on Craigslist for 4000 I almost bought lol
congrats to man hood . ive had my 86 since 01 its got an 89 engine . 86 is the strongest frame 88-89 best engines

Man that’s a trick setup. I did the Barnett fibers and disc with oem springs and basket and it works alright but that looks way better
Thank you man; I'd actually get a Barnett over the Hinson because of the stainless inserts the Barnett uses; I was unaware when I bought the Hinson.
Lol I just bought the same set up for my 250r, very helpful video thanks buddy
Awesome vid and edits and filming and bike
Can't believe that thing was still running and riding fine with that broken clutch fiber😲

Haha. The CR125 setup was my 2nd choice; I've heard great stuff about that setup too.
Food for thought: smooth steels are better than dimpled. They grip better and wear slower
A few subscribers actually reached out to me and said the same thing; I did not know this. Thank you for the feedback man!

If they recommend to use that much locktite you might as well weld the dagum screws on there haha
Right!? I hope I never have to remove those
Loctight doesnt bond. It expand and turn into plastic.;-)
Good video.
i have a 87 hp banshee with the stock clutch basket and i’ve had some slipping but only occasionally i might upgrade to billet
Dude that's really pushing it with a stock basket lol
I filed groves got me a good 2hr ride time til it started slipping again
Wouldn’t you need a different inner hub? since your adding another friction and steel it looks like the last steel wouldn’t engage with the inner hub. 26:35
I am running 7 fibers which is the stock amount. If you run 8 fibers, then yes, you do need to run an aftermarket boss and pressure plate.
Nice! 🤙👊
Thanks! 😁
I loved the video. The 4 foot pounds on the screws instead of 3.3 gives me anxiety. What’s a good torque wrench with those increments if you know?
Once you've peened the bolts in the basket, how do you get them back out if it needs new bushings in the future?
Doesn't scuffling the metal plates make the fiber wear faster because it is scuffed?
In theory it could if the plates are still slipping a lot; but it should have less slippage which can actually save the fibers from wearing.
Hell yea 🤙🏽
🤘 Thank you for watching Rob!
