Now my hats aren't scattered all over the closet. How I solved the winter hat storage problem

In winter, I always face the same problem at home: hats. There are many of them, and they always seem to disappear. The shelves in the closet are chaotic, with hats mixed in with scarves, mittens, and other small items. Even if you put them in a box, finding a specific hat later is a real challenge. The box gets turned over, and everything has to be rearranged. It's time to do something about it.
The idea came to me unexpectedly. What if I stored the hats vertically, like pants, skirts, or belts? But they don’t sell hangers specifically for hats. So, I decided to make my own! Here’s how I did it.
I took the simplest plastic hanger. It’s important that it’s sturdy enough since hats, while light, can add up in weight. I cut the edges and made it shorter, using metal scissors for this.
Then I sewed a cover. I used cotton fabric, folding it to the width of the hanger, and you can choose any length; the longer it is, the more hats and mittens it can hold.
At the top, I ironed on some interfacing for stiffness. I traced the hanger, stitched the cover, leaving an opening so I could slip it onto the hanger.
Paper clips are a brilliant solution.
I marked the cover every 10 cm. This spacing is enough to prevent the hats from hanging too close together and getting wrinkled. At the marked spots, I sewed on the clips. You could use clothespins for this.
The hanger is ready; let’s see it in action. You take a hat, clip it with the clip - and there it hangs! All the hats are placed vertically, one under the other. As a result, it takes up minimal space, and they look neat. Now my hanger is hanging in the closet, and the hats are easy to take out or hang back up; nothing is lying around or getting lost.
I also hung another clip on the hook of the hanger. This device saves space, provides easy access, and you don’t have to search through a pile of other items to find your hats. Everything is visible. If you have minimal sewing skills, you can make such a hanger in just one evening.
Now my closet is organized, and the problem of winter hat storage is solved. If you have the same situation at home, I recommend trying to make something similar. It’s simple, inexpensive, and very convenient!
