Thanks Sir. I have been working in LIC for more than 35 years. I am a second generation LIC employee. Happy to note that our organization is glorified by you.
Sir thanks for giving such a wonderful history between lic and sir chidambaram chatiar i was a School student of m ct m mudiah cheitiar school purasaiwalkkam in the year of 1992 to 96 i use to travel from kilkattalai to purasaiwakkam that time i use to caught but at 6.30 am and reach in 8.15 am and in evening i caught 27D bus to lic stop and eat a best veg puff at Lic stop that time i dont know i am studying in such a big school now i really wow abt muttaiah ....
My sincere thanks to Thiru M. CT. Chidambaram chettiar the proud founder of our LIC in India. But unfortunately he was demised in a flight crash is a very sad message for me since he is one of a great person from my Nagarathar community. Since he was a owner of a Life insurance cpany his own life have been challenged by God, If at all it has not happened we would have seen his Himalayan peak development in some oter sectors like Indian over seas Bank. Thanks for giving this message to allpublics.
In the early years LIC building was a star tourist attraction. As a student of Government Arts College (now Qaide Millat Women's college), I used to go there. We experienced the novelty of ultra modern show rooms, fragrant air conditioning, and a lift ride to the terrace for 10 paise! Indira Gandhi visited LIC bldg, went to the terrace, complemented Madras as the greenest city. She said Keep it that way. But the very next year ,the city cut down a centuries old tree in front of Quality Restaurant opposite LIC.
In 1970 to 1972 I used to go to G.K.Vale&Co.to give film roll washing and printing.I used to feel proud of LIC building. Then I migrated to Bombay in 1972 in search of employment.OMG! My opinion was shattered by viewing tall buildings like SBI , Nirmal , Air India ,etc in Nariman Point. As you said LIC building has its historical importance. Thanks for your information.
This Iconic building was constructed by M CT M Chidambaram Chettiar. But he passed away in Air crash in Singapore, may be 1954 or 55 before this building was finished. This was told my father. In fact when I was studying in New College, I have seen that inferno in 1975. It was Friday and Saturday. You have nicely enlightened about the LIC Building with facts and figures. Please speak on the ruining or crumbling Bharath Insurance's Indo Saracenic edifice in Mount Road.

sir I waved at you at the music academy while you were inside your car. glad you smiled and waved at me back. love u videos and great fan of history of Chennai Madras madrasapattinam
Sir I'm your follower.... Sir I'm a Chennai citizen, lived in royapuram, when I was a kid ma grandma use to say me that when she was young there was a tram in Chennai, at that time I'm not that much of interested to get that information about that...after I have seen your episodes I am eager to Google what happened to that tram but i never got that information.. Could you please tell me that history what happened to that tram
Subsequently, MctM constructed IOB building... It had rooms for United India and Travancore Rayons also at that time. . Iob was also nationalised in 1969
Interestingly it's construction was carried out by Coromandel engineering ( AMM Murugappa group), Indian overseas Bank belonging to MCTM family, Indian Bank belonging to Chettinad Rajas family etc was Nationalised by Smt. Indira Gandhi govt. Sir can you do a video on Madras Airport, Air India etc
I believe the honor for the city’s first 100-feet high rise building goes to Agurchand Mansion which is near Spencer. Hopefully it will continue to be preserved as a heritage building for the enjoyment of posterity !
Sir, your videos are very informative and entertaining. I appreciate the great deal of reading and research put behind in these videos. Keep up the good work. Regards from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Sir The neighbour SBI building is also an heritage building. GP road x mount road junction had bharath insurance building. City buses towards tambaram will stop near bharath and mofussil / long distance buses before LIC. Auctioneers Murray's had their business behind LIC. J.Krishnamohan

In almost every Tamil movie, when the story changes from other places to Madras/Chennai they show Central Railway Station or LIC building.
