The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer. He co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero. And he was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame. He also had produced a song for Dimash among others. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels). One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests: - Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it), - Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her), - Linda Eder, - Cakra Khan, - Gigi de Lana, - Regine Velasquez, - Almira (from 4th Impact), - Katrina Velarde, - Julie Anne San Jose, - Sarah Geronimo, - Morissette Amon, - Petra Berger, - Harrison Craig, - Rimar, - Jackie Evancho, - … For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning. But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference th-cam.com/video/kJBGCI8aSE4/w-d-xo.html
More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit). She had been raised in Sicilia first for 7 years then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter. After her Eurovision participation in 1988 (4th), she really started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She moved to Sicilia end of 2022. She became very famous in Quebec in the early 90s with several double platine records and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and was number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: • I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. • He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara. Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version) ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know") • She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love". • And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). • Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …) ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Charice Penpengco (Adagio), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow), ○ Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Adagio), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow) ○ Emily Linge (Adagio) ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know), ○ Il Divo (Adagio) ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you), ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow) ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow), ○ Amir (Je t’aime), ○ Pauline Aguirre (Adagio)), ○ George Peris (Broken Vow, Humana), ○ Vitas (Adagio), ○ Wanessa Camargo (Love by Grace), ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio), ○ Jeck (Je T’Aime), ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio), ○ Anne Sila (pas sans toi, Tu es mon autre), ○ The Canadian Tenors (Adagio), ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade), ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade), ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio), ○ Sarah Naura Irbah (Mademoiselle Hyde), ○ Elisabetta Rinaldi (Adagio), ○ Alyona Yarushina (Adagio), ○ Marie Payet (Pas sans toi), ○ Laurh (Immortelle), ○ Inger Lise Hope (Adagio), ○ Håkon Sønsterud Tollefsrød (Broken Vow), ○ Flora Tandi (Bambina), ○ Cindy Chao (Yeliel My Angel), ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio), ○ Abraham Mateo (Adagio), ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Russel Watson (Adagio), ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you) ○ Annointed (Love by Grace), ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime) ○ .... NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she had a very successful tour in Canada and Europe. I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was spectacular as always. On April, May, June 2023 she had again some wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, then in Ouzbekhistan, Kazakhstan, Romania. She just completed another popular tour in eastern europe (Czech Republic, Moldavia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Hungary) and in Canada in april-june 2024. She also appeared as a guest in some big events such as Hauser’s concert in Royal Albert Hall (May 9th 2024). Then, after some rest and a few TV Shows, she will tour again in Europe and France in 2025. She just released late November a brand new album, "Je suis là" (I’m here), a pure gem, packed with beautiful songs with deep moving lyrics. She just released her new album titled "Je suis là" on November 29, 2024 The first song released of this new album (titled "Ta Peine" - Your Sorrow) was delivered late January 2024 and has been a success in France. The second “Je t’ai cherché”(I looked for you) was released early october 2024, another success! I also recommend "Je suis de toi" and "une fleur à la bouche". Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Top Female vocaliste in the world, major star in Europe, speaks 4 languages, (Italian, French, English, Spanish) also partly Russian and Portugese. More than 30millions album sold world wide and almost unknown in the USA, i will let others explain her story, she is now 54 yo and just finished a world Tour in june 2024. You now have the Lara-virus, no vaccin, no medication, she sings from her soul to yours....best rabbit hole of TH-cam
So glad you've discovered Lara Fabian! As a vocalist, a storyteller, and a live performer, Lara is absolutely next level... top-tier, or as one might say in French, "sans egal" (without equal). Most preofessional singers, musicologists and vocal coaches place Lara in the same elite league of female power vocalists as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine and Barbra Streisand. She's widely known internationally (especially in Europe, Asia, and Latin America), but less famous in North America due to corporate intrigues when she first emerged as a blossoming new star circa 2000 [a long, sordid tale of jealousy and sabotage originating from within Celine Dion's management in Sony Music at the time]. There is so much in Lara's musical portfolio - a very deep rabbit hole indeed! - but one well worth exploring. Over the years, she has collabed closely with Igor Krutoy (who now composes with Dimash), and was a major inspiration to Dimash when he was developing into the incredible artist he is today. Dimash has also performed a number of her songs (e.g., "Adagio", Your Love", "Know"), and Lara actually performed with Dimash (along with Aida Garafullina) in "Ti Amo Cosi" in 2020. Thanks again!

Lara Fabian is a Belgian singer who also has Canadian citizenship. She is one of the biggest contemporary Francophone stars. She attracted international attention as a young singer when she competed for Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest. She sings mainly in French and English, although the repertoire differs considerably in each case. Her English-language repertoire is largely in the pop genre. She is a good singer, but not particularly exciting for me in that area, another good pop singer, this song is a positive exception for me. Her biggest hit in English is probably "I Will Love Again". Her English songs are designed for a wider and international audience. As a chanson singer, she is an absolute star for me, one of, if not the, best contemporary singer in this genre. Patricia Kaas should not go unmentioned. Especially in the chansons, she manages to live out her ability to convey great emotions with her powerful voice and emotional depth. Technically brilliant, she often gives the songs greater drama and more nuances. Lara Fabian's French songs are deeply poetic, full of emotion and lyrical subtlety. The lyrics often have greater poetic sophistication. She often uses metaphorical language to describe complex feelings: see "Je t'aime", "Je Suis Malade", "Immortelle" or "Tout". An absolute musical queen who, with her fantastic voice, expressiveness and charisma, is in no way inferior to the great divas. Above all, she is almost on a par with Piaf in the Olymp(ia) of French music (lol, that wasn't meant as an allusion).
Well, well, well, you were quite the eloquent muse in this one my friend. 😏 It almost felt like you know Lara, personally. I wouldnt be surprised if you said yes, since you have a high regard for a plethora of music styles, Sir. Loved learning from you again here...although I don't know what a Francophone is, nor a chanson. Please elaborate. 🤔
@@tazzznphilly Hi Tazzz, to answer your questions: 1. Francophon(ie) includes all areas and people with French as their mother tongue, administrative language or cultural language. Geographically, this primarily includes France, parts of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Algeria, Morocco and the Ivory Coast. Not to forget the large Francophone community in Canada. Louisiana probably cannot be included. Lol. Francophon is also to be distinguished from francophile, which means being benevolent towards everything French, especially culture. 2. Chanson means "song" but it also describes a song-like musical genre originally rooted in French culture. The genre term has existed since the Middle Ages. Modern chansons are of course also influenced by pop and rock music, but at the same time great attention is still paid to the textual - French - composition. My last sentence would then only need to be briefly explained, the allusions to which will probably be foreign to you. Edith Piaf is considered the most important and "greatest" female chanson singer in history. Because of her small stature, she was nicknamed "la môme piaf" (the sparrow girl). And the "Olympia" in Paris is a legendary performance venue, especially for French artists, and once someone has reached "Olympus", they can't reach any higher. Derived from "Olymp" meaning the seat of the ancient Greek gods and also Greece's highest mountain. I hope I have expressed myself somewhat clearly.😀
Once again we can hear the very beautiful, very strong bur alwas velevetu voice of Lara Fabian in all her 4.2 octaves range. An nearly endless breth controle, effortles singing without without distorted faces, clear singing, straight singing with nearly no vibrato, emotional and expressive performances. A joy tot listen to and an joy tot look at . Lara Fabian always has a sober dress code during her performances, a very soft make up, usually no jewelry and never conspicuous false finger nails ... The beauty of her voice and the beauty of her performances, her beautiful personality... Lara Fabian is ranked alongside Withny Houston, Mariah, Carrey and Celine Dion in her voice and singing.......She is very well known in Canada, Brazil, Europe, Eastern Europe and even Russia, but she is very underrated in the US.
Hi Dirk. Thank you for the great educational comment. I read it all. Well, I hope we can help make her more well known in the, USA. I will explore and react to more of her. In the meantime, tell others about her, and share this in other social media sites, to spread the word about, Lara. ~ Tazzz ~
A big thank you to Renee Devry for suggesting this wonderful performance by Lara Fabian. I hope you will do more reactions of Lara Fabian. Thank you from Montreal.
Thank you Tazzz. I am happy that you enjoyed Lara.😃👍 In my opinion, I consider her the close to female version of Dimash. Her talent and skill are up in the clouds and she glows with authenticity and a pure soul. I once saw her across the room in a restaurant in Montreal about 25 years ago but I was too shy to approach her. Also she was laughing and enjoying lunch with a male friend and I did not want to disturb her and ruin her privacy. She is truly as beautiful in real life.❤ Lara has many other stunning songs to check out in the future, some will need subtitles as she sings in many languages. She also did a collab with Hauser just as Dimash did. She is a musical angel.❤ 🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Josh Groban did an amazing cover of this song and was a huge hit for him. Love Josh Groban! This gal is so special. She has wrote so many songs for top tier artists you may not know are hers. And as you can now know she can sure sing! Im choking up as i usually do listening to her Ll
Awwww, you are reminiscing. Thats awesome. No, I only heard of her this time initially, so I definitely didnt know she also wrote songs for other Musicians. 🤔 I wonder why she wrote for other singers, when she can sing it her damn self.

To answer your question: Yes. Unfortunately, this one is based on her own real life experience, not a made up story. Her fiancé cheated on her, and she broke up with him and wrote these lyrics. The scum bag is a famous composer, and they composed the melody when they were still together. Break up had profound effect on her personal and professional life, because he was opening some doors for her, in addition to being engaged. She chose to leave USA, where she was living with him at the time, and went back to her parents' home in Belgium.
Wow, you are correct, he is a scumbag. Thanks for clarifying and answering my question. 😏 I cant imagine having to sing an emotional song - about yourself. I hope his music career crumbles, and hers keeps thriving. YES, I can be petty. 😁
@@tazzznphilly He's 66 now, and Lara turns 55 on January 9th....It's all long in the past now, and both of their careers are well established, beyond any possible unraveling.

One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),
- Linda Eder,
- Cakra Khan,
- Gigi de Lana,
- Regine Velasquez,
- Almira (from 4th Impact),
- Katrina Velarde,
- Julie Anne San Jose,
- Sarah Geronimo,
- Morissette Amon,
- Petra Berger,
- Harrison Craig,
- Rimar,
- Jackie Evancho,
- …
For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.
But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference

So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit).
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol:
• I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
• He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara.
Out of my mind I can list:
○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer),
○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer),
○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version)
○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know")
• She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love".
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …)

She just released her new album titled "Je suis là" on November 29, 2024
The first song released of this new album (titled "Ta Peine" - Your Sorrow) was delivered late January 2024 and has been a success in France.
She's more than perfect ...
Lara❤
Welcome in the Lara's World. The Ring, the Queen!

@@raquelra5878 Lol, oh wow. Thanks for the warning. 😁
She often uses metaphorical language to describe complex feelings:
see "Je t'aime", "Je Suis Malade", "Immortelle" or "Tout".
@@tazzznphilly Hi Tazzz, to answer your questions:
@perrosol-ns4cc8ot4t Thanks. I have now grown wiser as I read this all. I think my I.Q. grew 5 points. 😏 I thank ye, GoodSirKnight. 🙇♂️
@@tazzznphilly You're welcome, lol!🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠

A big thank you to Renee Devry for suggesting this wonderful performance by Lara Fabian. I hope you will do more reactions of Lara Fabian. Thank you from Montreal.
YESSSS! Thanks to Renee, cause I never heard of, Lara. Wonderful first impression. More Lara to come. You are welcome, Pierre.
Thank you Tazzz.
I am happy that you enjoyed Lara.😃👍
In my opinion, I consider her the close to female version of Dimash.
She is truly as beautiful in real life.❤
Lara has many other stunning songs to check out in the future, some will need subtitles as she sings in many languages.
She also did a collab with Hauser just as Dimash did.
She is a musical angel.❤
🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Awwww, you are reminiscing. Thats awesome. No, I only heard of her this time initially, so I definitely didnt know she also wrote songs for other Musicians. 🤔 I wonder why she wrote for other singers, when she can sing it her damn self.

Hello, Martin. Thank you. Happy you enjoyed, and thanks for suggestion. She was wonderful.
I cant imagine having to sing an emotional song - about yourself. I hope his music career crumbles, and hers keeps thriving. YES, I can be petty. 😁
@@tazzznphilly He's 66 now, and Lara turns 55 on January 9th....It's all long in the past now, and both of their careers are well established, beyond any possible unraveling.
