I LOOOOOOVE Lara. Her path was not super easy.... she was always in the Shadow of Céline in Québec and did not have the great career luck Céline had. I worked with Lara when we both were very young and She always had that great tone! You mentioned her hard work... she indeed worked hard, She use to struggle singing live often being flat but you can see she has corrected this. I have some of her very 1st recordings. Big voice, great tone, great performer. She has had a wonderful career but, in my opinion she is in the same realm as the "vocal Trinity". I tear up watching Lara.. especially knowing her story. I am so happy you are discovering the great talents I ( and those of my era) grew up with. Josh Groban has recorded this song as well. ENJOY the journey of these voices.
definitely listen to her interpretation of Caruso, given she was born in Belgium, Belgian father and Sicilian mother, her Italian is perfect and of course the emotions she always brings in her interpretations. Absolutely extraordinary. Lara and Floor Jansen are for me the best singers.
More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit). She had been raised in Sicilia first for 7 years then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter. After her Eurovision participation in 1988 (4th), she really started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She moved to Sicilia end of 2022. She became very famous in Quebec in the early 90s with several double platine records and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and was number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: • I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. • He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara. Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version) ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know") • She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love". • And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). • Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …) ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Charice Penpengco (Adagio), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow), ○ Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Adagio), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow) ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know), ○ Il Divo (Adagio) ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you), ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow) ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow), ○ Amir (Je t’aime), ○ Pauline Aguirre (Adagio)), ○ George Peris (Broken Vow, Humana), ○ Vitas (Adagio), ○ Wanessa Camargo (Love by Grace), ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio), ○ Jeck (Je T’Aime), ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio), ○ Anne Sila (pas sans toi, Tu es mon autre), ○ The Canadian Tenors (Adagio), ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade), ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade), ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio), ○ Sarah Naura Irbah (Mademoiselle Hyde), ○ Elisabetta Rinaldi (Adagio), ○ Alyona Yarushina (Adagio), ○ Marie Payet (Pas sans toi), ○ Laurh (Immortelle), ○ Inger Lise Hope (Adagio), ○ Håkon Sønsterud Tollefsrød (Broken Vow), ○ Flora Tandi (Bambina), ○ Cindy Chao (Yeliel My Angel), ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio), ○ Abraham Mateo (Adagio), ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Russel Watson (Adagio), ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you) ○ Annointed (Love by Grace), ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime) ○ .... NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October 2022 and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular. On April, May, June 2023 she had again some wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, then in Ouzbekhistan, Kazakhstan, Romania. She is about to release a new album and just completed another popular tour in eastern europe (Czech Republic, Moldavia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Hungary) and in Canada in april-june 2024. She also appeared as a guest in some big events such as Hauser’s concert in Royal Albert Hall (May 9th 2024). Then, after some rest and a few TV Shows, she will tour France in 2025. The first song of her new album (titled "Ta Peine" - Your Sorrow) was released late January 2024 and is a success in France. The second “Je t’ai cherché”(I looked for you) was released early october 2024, another success! Her album is expected to be released in on Nov 29. Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer. He co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero. And he was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame. He also had produced a song for Dimash among others. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels). One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests: - Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it), - Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her), - Linda Eder, - Cakra Khan, - Gigi de Lana, - Regine Velasquez, - Almira (from 4th Impact), - Katrina Velarde, - Julie Anne San Jose, - Sarah Geronimo, - Morissette Amon, - Petra Berger, - Harrison Craig, - Rimar, - Jackie Evancho, - … For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning. But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference th-cam.com/video/kJBGCI8aSE4/w-d-xo.html
Wow - Thank you so very much for taking the time & trouble to write the back ground to this. Can I ask you why she is not more recognized, main stream, popular & famous ? Is it a record company marketing in only select territories & deliberate blocking in others or is it a French language thing?
@ she was blocked in the US by politics of René Angélil, Celine’s husband and producer, who pressured Sony, their joint record company, to stop promoting Lara in ballads lane and reserve it to Celine. Lara was pushed to the pop dance lane - with great initial success as her hit "I will love again" was #1 in US club dance billboard during 58 weeks- but this inflection did not please Lara, as a singer and songwriter, and led to an artistry dispute and she left the US scene. More details in this documentary: th-cam.com/video/TyB6vXDdZBY/w-d-xo.html But Lara is a star in many regions around the globe (France, Belgium, Quebec, Brazil, Russia and all eastern europe countries, central asia countries, …). Her songs are covered in singer contests from all continents: from indonesia and China to Uzbekhistan, Norway, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Australia,… She just won, as a coach, The Voice Kids France a few weeks ago. She will release a new album in 3 weeks then have a tour in 2025 and finally open her own vocal school in Italy in 2026. The music industry knows her talent. She is known to have the most resonant voice in the world , nicknamed The Ring for this reason, and David Foster said about her: "I’m gonna introduce you to someone… It’s gonna blow your mind ! Her voice, well, I can only describe it as heavenly. When she burst onto the scene, we couldn’t believe what we were hearing, it was a voice like from another planet or something! She made her mark here and then she conquered Europe where she has lived for most of her life. I’m so fortunate to live in a world of great voices but believe me this voice is at the top of the heap of great voices. (…)"
@ and if you want to check how she sings today, this is from a few weeks ago, her brand new song: th-cam.com/users/shorts77s4bCV_pBA?si=lhQTis4UNY8L2K8z
ERIC - En pensant à la trinité vocale Whitney, Mariah et Céline, une pensée m'est venue récemment à l'esprit. Les trois mousquetaires étaient en réalité quatre. Lara, c'est d'Artagnan.
We (my wife and I) first heard Lara Fabian on a PBS special at the turn of the century (I'm pretty sure it was the 'From Lara With Love' concert). We fell in love with her performance and voice. Back in those days it was hard for women in music. The industry could only handle one at a time and there was already a female Canadian singer making a name for herself. I personally think it was for the best. It was unfortunate for Americans that they lost the opportunity to experience such a great artist, but the American music industry would have stifled her creativity in pursuit of profits. She is one of the best singers in the modern age and even today is still amazing.
This is once again Lara Fabian. A singer with a very strong but always velvety voice in all 4.2 octaves vocal range. ..Clear singing, endless breath control etc. ..A very strong sensitive velvety voice, liquid gold for the ear and dozens of other acclaims ... A voice that you can listen to all day long, whatever the lyrics are and in any language ...
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Top Female vocaliste in the world, major star in Europe, speaks 4 languages, (Italian, French, English, Spanish) also partly Russian and Portugese. More than 30millions album sold world wide and almost unknown in the USA, i will let others explain her story, she is now 54 yo and just finished a world Tour in june 2024. You now have the Lara-virus, no vaccin, no medication, she sings from her soul to yours....best rabbit hole of TH-cam
Amen, Robert. I will fall on my sword. I have no defense for the Lara-virus. But then again, I would pass on that vaccine if a miracle cure is ever found. I used to be angry that she was missed, this treasure lost. Perhaps we were lucky. We get to watch a Legend in very encapsulated form without all the industry drama and "commercialization".
ROBERT - En pensant à la trinité vocale Whitney, Mariah et Céline, une pensée m'est venue récemment à l'esprit. Les trois mousquetaires étaient en réalité quatre. Lara, c'est d'Artagnan.
She's more than perfect...she know to use this potentiel...technic, polyglote, play piano, feel music, complete, magnifique voice, phrasing, amazing music arrangements..captive your attention like nobody..she tone and look like à stradivarius ❤
This performance and others from her I search nearly daily for new reactions from people seeing her, that’s how good it is that I want to relive that joy over and over again. Thank you for this awesome reaction!

My sister and I are going to see her live in her native country Brussels/Belgium on December 4. of 2025. It's already almost sold out, can you imagine? I'm só looking forward to it. She is my absolute favorite female singer; apart from her impeccable vocal technique, she really touches something so deep inside that I can't even explain in words. One of my favorite performances is "Je t'aime" in Paris. It was after a difficult time for her and you can feel how much love and admiration she receives from her public there. It's amazing, I get goosebumps every time. Thank you for your awesome reaction and for bringing her to the attention of a larger audience ♥️
I LOOOOOVED this reaction. I loved the first one of her, and i loved this one even more. Im excited to see more about you discovering Lara. It amazing to watch you not only enjoying (ofc she's #1 haha) but i like very much to know about techniques, i love all about music and singing even though i cant even do it lol. But I am a fan of people like you who speak with so much enthusiasm and knowledge about what they are passionate about
She was in the same label as mariah, celine, shania, etc. At the prime moment of all where they were releasing singles simultaneously, Lara had recorded Adagio, which is one of the most powerful songs in her repertoire, and they told her that in order not to generate competition between them or with the public, they wanted everyone to release a single of the same level. So as not to overshadow each other, blah blah. Then they give her the song ''I Will Love Again', which she didn't even write, to release as a single at the same time as the others. (It was fantastic as well, and become very famous on the radio) Because "Adagio" was ''too much''. Totally unfair. Then her nightmare also began where, like every industry, they began to demand that she lose weight and a thousand rubbish regarding beauty stereotypes, causing her eating disorder. Which lasted 7 years and having reached a critical state. They always put her down, she was always "too much." Lara was very insecure at that time and she trusted many people who did not want the best for her. So, it was an accumulation of bad decisions and bad companies that led to her separation from Sony, leaving her with nothing and erasing almost all traces of her in the United States. The past is the past, and Lara knew how to re-emerge like a phoenix after having worked very hard for many years, and even though there were very difficult moments for her, she always had the people who really mattered to her by her side and her fans supporting her in every step. Today her number of successes is countless, but even more important, she was always genuine and I don't know anyone as good, as generous, with so much love and so much passion for her profession as her. She deserves the whole world. I am very sorry for the long text I made. I am very passionate about her too and I love that you want to meet her. I feel that you are very genuine and I like that, I hope it has helped you get to know her a little more. My best regards from Argentina and I will be waiting for your next videos. I love them!
The personal connection while singing is what distinguishes her from the multitude. I’m pretty sure that’s why I always feel like a schmuck when I listen to Broken Vow and Je suis malade.
Supposedly, the music industry wanted to control what genres Celine and Lara would stay within. It happened when both Lara and Celine Dion were in Quebec. Lara backed away and concentrated on performing in Europe and Asia. The concert I attended in Budapest was part of one of those tours. She swept through western and Central Europe and had a concert also in Istanbul. My Hungarian cousins knew of her. Most Americans do not. 😢
I was lucky enough to hear her in concert in Budapest four days before I went to Dimash’s concert. A number of us were hoping she and Dimash might make a surprise visit in the other’s concert. Of course she was phenomenal. She sang Broken Vow which is my favorite of her songs. I almost always cry when hearing it. I’m very happy to hear you reacting to her. You didn’t mention that she was in raised in Belgium and attended music school, studying Bel Canto for ten years. Dimash said that as a teen he used to fall asleep listening to her sing.
I've been waiting for you to find Lara....She is amazing. You are in for a ride! Hope you get to Adagio soon....concert From Lara with Love. love your reactions.
Love your analysis and always love seeing someone else go down the rabbit hole as I did. I was so hooked that in less than a year of discovering her I went from Virginia to Ottawa to see her in concert!
I feel like Johnny Holliday's character in "Requiem por Un Foo". Ok, going from Texas to Paris is not exactly like "killing your love so you can be with her forever", but I'm going in December 2025 anyway.
She is so ahead of her time. When majority of singers typically just sing the song, she raised it to another level wherein the singer becomes the song. Song interpretation internalization , merging plus artistry. By the way shes way way better (her voice/delivery),during live performances compared to her studio version.
In "Adagio" you'll learn that she has a pair of hidden lungs, LOL. She is trully amazing... voice, performance, stage presence, the sheer amount of feelings she can transmit, gorgeous singer.
When I first heard Lara (completely by accident) it was the "Adagio" music video. My first reaction, my first thought, (after I picked my jaw up off the floor) was "who is this", "is she a new artist?" It is just human nature to immediately go to your life experiences and think "who is she like"? In that moment I didn't think of anyone in "The Trinity" for a nanosecond. Only one name came to mind......"Barbara" ["Babs"]. The only artist I could think whose Voice is so identifiable, so unique, so DIFFERENT and who demands your attention is Barbara Streisand. Sure there are significant differences (Barbara has the very characteristic fast Vibrato, I prefer Lara's straight tone into soft wide Vibrato), but there is "something" and Lara's love for "Babs" work is well documented and understood......see if you can hear AND SEE what I mean => th-cam.com/video/FEbafV3PFuQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IrKu3qC1GtcoHI4P That entire Concert she did for Charity at her home in Malibu was the first time she sang in public in decades. In a way America missed a lot of Barbara's prime, just like we missed "The RING's".
Lara's concerts have been and will continue to be a benchmark for the French-speaking world. This is one of my favourites "En toute intimité" Full English translation For our English-speaking friends th-cam.com/video/NMHym4N4UXo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W2NtNDdaIQCznKQy This concert has it all The quality of the image Lara's incredible voice Fabulously performed, intimate music And full English translation as close as possible to the lyrics This concert is Lara's soul A must-see
I won't pile on to the love below, Nick. You certainly have the right audience listening (Lara's top tier fan base). All three of your Lara Fabian REACTIONS to date, "Je Suis Malade", "Requiem", and now "Broken Vow" are compelling, unique, insightful. Looking forward to the Playlist getting started so we can easily watch your journey unfold. Its a fun start, several more amazing live performances in "From Lara with Love" 2000 concert, then "Nue" 2001/2, then "En Tout Intimite" 2003, then "Un Regard 9" 2005/6, then David Foster 2010, then Igor Kutoy concerts in Russia "Mademoiselle Zhivago" 2010, "Russian Fairytale" 2014, "New Wave" 2016 (you get to hear her sing in Russian), award show appearances, I'll stop there. There is a lot of Coffee and Tea to reveal and enjoy. Thanks, Kev.
I love seeing people discover Lara Fabian! I remember the first time I heard her, working the night shift, and this angelic voice came on the radio singing "Love by grace". So amazing, I phoned in to ask who it was and they gave me her album(CD)!
I enjoy all of your videos. I always look forward to when you post your next one. You're a trip to watch as you react to the performers you feature. Sometimes I think of you as being like a kid in a candy store. A kid in a candy store isn't analyzing the candy though. Lol. Lara Fabian is a rare gem when it comes to singers. I'm sure that when she performs, the angels in heaven stop whatever it is that they're doing to listen.
Great reaction as usual to such an incredible performance! My favourite female singer for sure! I recommend the following songs to react to. Adagio, Caruso, Perdere l'amore and Love by grace. They are amazing like all her songs! Looking forward to your next reaction.....but don't leave it too long! Greetings from London 😀
You got it right with the American music industry pushing her down. Mostly by Celine Dion team and the people behind the vocal trinity. While she was shut down in the US, she was still huge in the rest of the world
You are very well spoken just like Lara. For a minute, I thought you might be a well spoken Aussie until I listened to you roll your rs. Our rs are more of an ah sound. You got me when you said 'mate'. Great listening !!
Lara was unfortunately overshadowed by Celine Dion and Sony. Marketing!! Both very relevant during that time, but Celine was given more exposure. Unfortunate for us, but now we know her and can experience her mastery and brilliance in her craft.
Here is a gallon of tea and without all the commercial BS and marketing. It took a LOT of guts for Lara to say NO to Sony who tried turning her into another "dancing queen". David Foster finally figured it out.... Cliff notes from "The Vocal Trinity" video below [Answers to WHY Lara Fabian did not reach the success in the US that she did around the world): It's very well documented, "The Vocal Trinity" and the powerful men behind them, did everything they could to keep Lara away from their own US market sensations. Powerful woman can be very vain, and Celine hated Lara (just look at her in the 90s, she could have been a supermodel, and they were both French Canadian after Lara moved from Belgium). Whitney ("The Voice") was managed by Clive Davis (Partners in crime with Tommy Mottola, Sony Music CEO), the most powerful 4 time Grammy winner in the Music Business (he got very wealthy protecting Whitney Houston's career on and off the stage). Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola wanted "to find the next Whitney" to follow the success his friend Clive had, so he launched another gold voice career, Mariah Carey (just before he Married her). While Whitney and Mariah rise to the top of the charts, Tommy Mottola has his sights on a new Canadian Diva already a star in many countries who wants to make it in the US. She will become a Legend.....Celine Dion. They become "The Vocal Trinity". Imagine how Mariah felt about her husband/manager Tommy Mottola promoting Celine? The best songwriters, composers, producers give The Trinity their biggest hits (e.g. David Foster, Walter Afanasieff, Diane Warren, etc.). Tommy and Sony now have the 3 best voices in the world, but Tommy, always looking, in 1997 hears Lara "Je Suis Malade", who David Foster would in 2010 eventually call "a voice from another planet", and falls for a 4th voice (imagine how his wife Mariah and his new Canadian superstar, Celine feel about that), her name was Lara Fabian. Do you think the deck was stacked against this "Newcomer"? Do you think "The Trinity" woman just couldn't wait to meet her and support her? When Tommy heard "Je Suis Malade" he became obsessed. Everyone wanted to sign this 'newcomer". there was a "bidding war", and Sony (Tommy) did anything to win this powerhouse new vocalist (despite the fact "The Trinity" women's jealousy hated the idea, turf infringement?). However, European producer, Rick Allison captured the "prize" (who would become her manager and lover for the next 14 years, yet they never married) was "enchanted" by Lara's voice, and Allison contacted Tommy Mottola at Sony and Tommy declares: "She's my new priority for the following year" (Imagine how that went over with his wife Mariah, Clive Davis, Whitney, and his new Canadian Legend, Celine). Sony Tommy Mottola produces 8 of the 10 top ranked artists in the US. Tommy assigns, VP of Sony Music, Julie Bouchard to Lead Lara's International Career. Tommy introduces Lara to all of the Hollywood Legends. Sony spares no expense to produce Lara's first US "all English" album and of course sets her up with The Trinity team, Walter Afanasieff and Diane Warren. Warren and Fabian clash because Warren wants to turn Lara into a "dancing queen" to keep her away from the Power Ballade (The turf of "The Trinity"). Lara dismissed 10 Diane Warren song proposition. Lara wants to write her own lyrics and songs 200+ to date (something "The Trinity" rarely did). Songs SHE believes in emotionally. With Walter Afanasieff (who wrote and produced many of "The Trinity" greatest hits, and currently Mariah Carey's Producer, imagine how that went over with Mariah) the collaboration with Lara worked out......FAR BETTER. They meet and they Fall in Love, yikes! Together they write the best songs of Lara's first album including "Broken Vow", ironically a song about how Walter cheated on her (imagine that). Walter produced Lara's famous 2000 "From Lara with Love", 2002 "Nue", and 2003 "En toute intimité" LIVE concerts. They are all vastly successful LIVE "concert of concerts". Walter's success with this Power newcomer "Teased" (e.g pissed off) the wrong guys. Walter shares memories in an ITW interview "I almost got married to this woman.....". "But you know what's interesting - when I had this love story with Lara Fabian, Celine Dion simply hated her.....and by the way, around the same time, Mariah Carey left me." There was a power struggle inside Sony who spent almost $500K to produce Lara's very famous music video, "Adagio". After 2 years of work, the first Lara Fabian US album is about to be released in 2002, and the US is about to Discover a NEW Voice. The "Vocal Trinity" is about to become a Quartet! They were calling Lara, "The new Celine" (Imagine how Celine took that, quite frankly if you REALLY listen they don't sound ANYTHING like). In interview after interview, Lara publicly says "how honored she is, and how great it is to be compared to these amazing talents". You hear nothing like that about Lara anywhere from "The Trinity". David Foster gets an idea for his 2010 LIVE "Foster and Friends concert in Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay", when he was asked by Michael Bolton who he should sing Foster's famous power ballade with, "The Prayer" (written for Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli) Foster says "the best person on the planet to sing it with, is Lara Fabian". Note: That 2010 Concert was during a break in Celine Dion's 16 year run at Caesars Palace (2003-2007 and 2011-2019). "I got a call from my friend Michael Bolton he said I'd really love to sing the prayer (Foster's famous power ballade, written for Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli). "Who should I sing it with", and I said "well the best person on the planet to sing it with is Lara Fabian" but she lives in Europe so we had to figure that one out and we actually recorded it over the internet but they're here to sing it live tonight please welcome back Michael Bolton and Lara Fabian". th-cam.com/video/M__6PFD1YEw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GkKsQrlwOEmkI19s And for an encore in that Concert Foster asks Lara to sing "Caruso", and song he once produced for Josh Groben. "I'm going to introduce you to someone who will blow your mind. Her voice, I can only describe it as heavenly. When she burst onto the scene, we couldn't believe what we were hearing. A voice like from another planet or something. She made her mark here and then she conquered Europe, where she has lived for most of her life. I'm so fortunate to have lived in a world of great voices, but believe me this voice is at the top of the heap of great voices. And she is going to put her own mark on a song that I once produced for Josh Groban and wait till you hear this woman sing. Please welcome Lara Fabian." th-cam.com/video/QhSYXEXYNG0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CjDE869FF8M-cBHE "Kev"
Really enjoyed your reaction. I think Lara Fabian is truly amazing. I would love you to react to more from her. I would suggest perhaps Adagio or Caruso but there is so much to choose from I can’t choose a favourite
This was my favorite video that you have done. Besides the video where you sang " You Raise Me Up. " You did a beautiful job. I myself have sang that song a few times at weddings.
Amazing Lara❤ Yes she is more & more then you discovered . Listen " Adagio " from the concert From Lara with love , or Mademoiselle Hyde from the concert with Igor Krutoy , or the same concert with Vocalise , Karma, the duet with an opera singer like :" Toi- et- moi" . And so much more . The cover of " Yentln " from Barbara S. Etc❤
Nick, GREAT reaction. I discovered Lara in 1996 as the voice of Esmeralda in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame (French Canadian Version) and was completely transfixed. Her Dieu Aide Les Exclus (God Help the Outcasts) is for me the quintessential version. From there I was obsessed. I have lots of her discs both in French and English and several concert DVDs. She is amazing! Her career was launched at the same moment as Celine as they both competed in Eurovision in 1988. Celine won and Lara came in 4th. Record company manipulation by Celine's management prevented Lara from releasing an English album for many years but she was celebrated internationally. From my perspective there are a couple of "must hears". Another song she wrote, I Guess I Loved You is really beautiful and poignant and here is the link to hear it really almost acoustically in a small studio with just a few audience members and her vocals are raw and still stunning! th-cam.com/video/tSI8B3essvQ/w-d-xo.html (I would love to do this reaction with you!). From her En Tout Intimite concert, Comme Ils Disent which is a song by Charles Aznavour sung from the perspective of and as a female impersonator. It is truly stunning. th-cam.com/video/kcO06CfzsSA/w-d-xo.html . The others have listed everything else. I sure hope you enjoy and THANK YOU!
Great stuff, again - thanks. FYI: She’s absolutely beautiful at 54 - LARA (not Laura) Fabian (Fah-bey-ahn) with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian (Québécoise) of Belgian birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara studied piano, composition, and voice at a Brussels Conservatory for a decade. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans four octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, creates a high emotional connection with the listener. She has a discography of over 400 songs, has sold over 25 million records, and plays at sold-out venues worldwide. She lives with her husband and daughter in Montreal, Brussels and Sicily. I’m a ‘fan’ because of her high level ‘EQ’ (emotional intelligence) expressed in the text of her songs. La raison pour laquelle je suis un « fan » de Lara Fabian est son « QE » élevé, qu’elle exprime dans le texte de ses chansons. I love your reactions Nick, thank you so much, i think you need to react to lara fabian je t'aime live from Paris 2001, and bring tissues. Lots of love from Greece, stay healthy and safe
I've been waiting for you to get to this one lol. She's unreal. And can we just take a moment to acknowledge that the highest note in the song (at basically the end) is a G on top of the staff...that she's mixing flawlessly as if it's nothing... absolutely brilliant.
Thanks for great reaction; she is a REAL DEAL, isn't she? Vou got 'hooked') by her as we are. We should "thank" to Celin's management not to know her (she would be Celin's big concurence in USA - and they knew that Lara has even more warmth and emotional voice, not to talk about conveying the lyrics, "method singing" which Celine didn't have 😉. Try some her lattest songs - I am A-WA or with Igor Krutoy in Russia, or latest Caruso with Hauser, and you will see how she can stil SING at 54 years.
❤ She Is a wonderful Singer tecnico and emoticon thank you for your reaction i am a Canadian opera Singer living in Italy from Pavarotti school i am on you tube thank you❤
I had not heard of Lara Fabian until you introduced her. I had not heard of Floor Jansen either, until I saw her at de Beste Zangers... and I am Dutch😂!!!! It is not shamefull to be clueless, we cannot know everything. But keep the video's coming, love your reactions. 😁
Thank you for this wonderful reaction to Goddess Lara. Eric (Sicard) will tell you why it is not as well known as those we call "the vocal trinity", while today it supplants them all...
Rumors/gossip/conspiracy has it, that in the late 1990's, after getting celine dion to greatness, tony motola (sony music) discovered Lara, and wanted to make her great at least as celine, signed her up and teamed her with all of Celine's writers & composers, and that celine didnt like it even 1 bit. Also, when her 1st English/US CD was out, the 1st single released from it, was an upbeat teack called "I will love again" (which hit #1), but after her other singles came out (power ballads) ppl were a bit confused with Lara, as much as "we already have celine for this kinda music"... And an anecdote: At the 1988 Eurovision song Contest, which celine won, (for Switzerland) at age 18, 15 y/o Lara, came 4th or 5th, representing Luxembourg...

Muy buena reacción y análisis. En el concierto homenaje a David Foster, dijo algo más o menos así, al presentarla "en el mundo existen grandes cantantes y por arriba de esas grandes cantantes esta Lara Fabian"
Here you go Miguel => th-cam.com/video/QhSYXEXYNG0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=io16weQMqFaid674 Spanish "Voy a presentarles a alguien que los dejará boquiabiertos. Su voz, solo puedo describirla como celestial. Y ella va a dejar su propia huella en una canción que una vez produje para Josh Groban y esperen a escuchar a esta mujer cantar. Por favor, denle la bienvenida a Lara Fabian". English "I'm going to introduce you to someone who will blow your mind. Her voice, I can only describe it as heavenly. When she burst onto the scene, we couldn't believe what we were hearing. Time for more tea. Yes, Lara and Celine started their careers about the same time. I recall Donny Osmond introducing Lara to America for the very first time. She sang "I Will Love Again" and it instantly became a hit and held the number 1 position for a year! Both artists were under the Sony label I think. Insiders decided they wanted Lara to sing the upbeat songs and Celine to sing the ballads. Lara simply said no because she did not want to lose the artistry of her music. She simply left the American market and focused her attention on Europe and some Asian markets. Her song, "Love By Grace" made her a household name in Brazil because it was used in a well known soap opera there. Some will say there were shenanigans at Sony favoring Celine, but essentially Lara decided to dictate her own career and did not want limits placed on her own. She did not have the promotion as a worldwide sensation as most execs do for singers, but she did just fine for herself. Lara is much more well known outside of America.
Lara is phenomenal. In Brazil she is very famous, especially for two songs that were soap opera themes, one sung in English - love by grace, and the other sung in Portuguese with a perfect accent, unfortunately I never found a live video of this song, it is called Meu grande amor, and it is my favorite song recorded in Portuguese.
There is no live video for Meu Grande Amor unfortunately. But this is a portuguese version (very different lyrics) of an original french hit titled "Si tu m’aimes" and there are live videos for this french original. And she also created an english version from it titled "To love again" and there afe live videos of this english version as well …
Well , you’ll have to look for adagio, je suis malade, yentle, caruso, je t’aime and many more. But only watch live performance cause that’s where she shine bright.
And in this generation, another Foreign born Canadian citizen is trying to make her way to the next level in the music industry. Faouzia’s a much different kind of singer, but possesses a powerful and unique voice, and a some mad songwriting skills. And has had to go to China to keep moving forward. Hoping some Lara fans give her a listen, though I know she’s not to everyone’s taste.
I'm a fawn. Faouzia was nominated for a Juno in 22 and 23. Not surprised she lost songwriter to The Weeknd. But someday she'll have her day. If, she ever comes back. I see she's off to conquer South Korea.
IMPORTANT NOTE (before you come for me in the comments): this video was filmed before I had reacted to Floor Jansen. I think Floor Jansen is equally good live as Lara Fabian - just FYI :). The same goes with my "favourite singer" - I have too many favourites to count. Floor, Lara, Celine, Bocelli, Pavarotti...they are all high up on my list!
Then you should react next to Lara singing Adagio, a song she wrote based on a classic music masterpiece, then check the covers made by Floor or Dimash 😀 th-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/w-d-xo.html
There are many vocalists that I like to listen to; I admire, respect and appreciate what they do but, by definition, I have only one favourite. Look deep young “Luke”….😊
Yeah. I guess there's a good number of great singers. Bur for me personally, Lara works the best. It's not only the singing, it's... Well... All about her performances. Extremely captivating.
The melody is loosely based on Rachmaninoff's Second Piano concerto, the same tune that Eric Carmen used for "All by Myself" Concerning your request on why you haven't heard of her - Sony screwed her. They set her up with the same producers as Celine Dion, and she got squashed to protect Celine. Next is Adagio for the same concert. It contains what might be the best two minute voice performance ever recorded. Once you see the bass in the video, DO NOT STOP until past the last note.
It, that is, the true story behind Fabian's failure to achieve levels of fame and recognition latter-day fans or converts to her cause feel would be commensurate with her talent and ability is a tale a great deal richer, more complicated and nuanced than the now popular facile explanation generally offered up to a public eager to embrace a narrative that tends to absolve audiences of the bygone era of their share of culpability in the matter of Lara's stalled career. It is easier to imagine the hand of a super villain laboring in the shadows along with a co-conspirator or two present to aid in undermining the performer's efforts _as opposed to_ simply accepting the fact that for a number of reasons folks just were not adequately prepared or equipped to deal maturely with a force such as Lara Fabian.
@@maxine-x4x That's really pretty speak. How are fans "culpable" or "ill equiped" that could not even pick her out of a lineup? I would give them more credit than that. Show her photo in Europe and its "That's the Queen",. "That the RING", "That's the Legend", "that's Lara Fabian". Watch thousands of reactions and its common, "Why have I never heard of Lara Fabian?". Does that make every REACTOR "culpable", "immature"? Only Lara really knows what happen. Who cares, we get to see an entire career that is jaw dropping and beguiling. Don't insult peoples intelligence by assuming they are "unprepared" just because they were not exposed until YT uncovered this lost treasure. Most of them, even if they are not as equipped as you, certainly appreciate her as much as you.
@@mkevincop I stand by every word that I have written on the matter because I witnessed it firsthand; I _lived_ it. Countless millions _'were exposed'_ to Fabian(in her prime no less) and were not moved, at least, not to the degree that it appears folks are today. (I've hinted strongly at the reasons for this) Far from _'insulting peoples' intelligence'_ , my natural inclination is, if anything, to give people _more credit_ than perhaps they deserve in this regard. Again, this is not mere "armchair" observation and speculation on my part but rather than launch into a lengthy treatise on the human condition I shall leave it to *you* to "fill in the blanks"...that is, if you're so disposed. 😉
So many wonderful singers in the world that we are now being exposed to thanks to TH-cam. Lara is definitely one of them. I don't think that people can help having preferences. I know I do. But, I am glad to see that we can recognize and respect the talent of so many out there. This was another informative and entertaining video. I continue to be impressed by your insistance that it isn't only purity of voice that matters, but the ability to live in the song.
That you had not heard of her is somewhat surprising but not entirely. She was crushed in terms of exposure and attention by Celine Dion. Her marketing almost invisible. While I do appreciate Celine’s vocal qualities, I do prefer Lara’s more emotional and warmer voice and less staged performance. A real joy to listen to.
Hello Nick thanks !!! you can read the comment of Eric Sicard ... he's the "wikipedia" about Lara Fabian and he can learn a lot to you about her.. kiss
Another aspect of Lara is here she is singing about experiences that most humans experience thereby doubling the impact of what she is singing about. She knows how to transfer her feelings to the audience and as you said its what makes her amazing in a live performance. Her performance of Je Suis Malade live from 2000 is a performance you should watch as this might be one of her best ever if not her best. The ending is quite jaw dropping. th-cam.com/video/BI6ysCN4CY0/w-d-xo.html. This one.
Another performance by Lara, singing Je t'aime live in Paris where her audience catches her by surprise. There is quite a backstory to this which I'm sure you will be able to find. th-cam.com/video/IYnFwUbC9A8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nEvvYfxautLuCtpR
She is the best female vocalist, no doubt about! It's not just the stunning beauty of her voice, or her immaculate technique, but her storytelling skill and her fine nuance in how she rides that delicate line of both inhabiting and delivering the emotion. Without equal. BTW, NO-ONE, in my view, has ever done a better Caruso. Do check it out too! # And DAMN YOU NICK! How DARE you show me that chocolate cake at 12.02am!!! 🙈
Why have I never heard of Lara Fabian before? Simple, no sponsorship and marketing from the majors of the musical business. I would add that most people do not understand or do not want to understand much about music, this is the reason for so many grammys for Taylor Swift who does an entire tour with backtracking, autotune, pitch correction and lip sync, and today she is not the only one unfortunately. How many would spend that much money for a ticket to listen to a record? Many. This is the reality of music today.
I love Lara and your reaction was great and very informative! I understand she can sing in 7 or 9 different languages, she is extremely talented and sings with more emotion than any other singer I’ve heard or seen! Josh Groban also released a version of this song, I’m a huge Josh fan, and he did a great rendition! Her pronunciation is perfection!
Your reactions of lzra fabian are one of the 2 best reactions in the whole world: you so on point on everything, absolutely intelligent and brilliant analyses , i can watch your reactions of her over and over! Reaction of reaction lol. Keep dping her please: "the prayer duet with mixhael bolton" and the medley "papa can you hear me? A piece of sky from the Molson Center concert " !!! Your reactions ate so on point and detailed 👏👏👏👏

Lara and Floor Jansen are for me the best singers.
her interpretation of Caruso, in italian, is incredible.
More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, ....
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit).
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol:
• I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
• He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara.
Out of my mind I can list:
○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer),
○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer),
○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version)
○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know")
• She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love".
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …)

I was under the impression Lara moved back to Montreal after her mother passed in 2019.
@ she did, even before 2019, but her husband got homesick apparently, and they moved to Sicilia late 2022.
@ what kind of a world do we live in when you can’t trust either ChatGPT or Copilot?
@@Scott-f2j because you trust these ?😂
@ only a bit but I’ll probably go back to tea leaves now…
The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),
- Linda Eder,
- Cakra Khan,
- Gigi de Lana,
- Regine Velasquez,
- Almira (from 4th Impact),
- Katrina Velarde,
- Julie Anne San Jose,
- Sarah Geronimo,
- Morissette Amon,
- Petra Berger,
- Harrison Craig,
- Rimar,
- Jackie Evancho,
- …
For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.
But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference
th-cam.com/video/kJBGCI8aSE4/w-d-xo.html
More details in this documentary:
th-cam.com/video/TyB6vXDdZBY/w-d-xo.html
But Lara is a star in many regions around the globe (France, Belgium, Quebec, Brazil, Russia and all eastern europe countries, central asia countries, …). Her songs are covered in singer contests from all continents: from indonesia and China to Uzbekhistan, Norway, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Australia,…
She just won, as a coach, The Voice Kids France a few weeks ago. She will release a new album in 3 weeks then have a tour in 2025 and finally open her own vocal school in Italy in 2026.
The music industry knows her talent. She is known to have the most resonant voice in the world , nicknamed The Ring for this reason, and David Foster said about her: "I’m gonna introduce you to someone…
It’s gonna blow your mind !
@ and if you want to check how she sings today, this is from a few weeks ago, her brand new song:

ERIC - En pensant à la trinité vocale Whitney, Mariah et Céline, une pensée m'est venue récemment à l'esprit. Les trois mousquetaires étaient en réalité quatre. Lara, c'est d'Artagnan.
@ bien vu!
She is one of the best singers in the modern age and even today is still amazing.
which the other one isn't anymore😁
@@alenkasalej627 the other three...🤔
Lara is The Queen of Resonance and vowel coordination. She is The Ring. The perfect singer.
She’s the best. Loved this
She's more than perfect...she know to use this potentiel...technic, polyglote, play piano, feel music, complete, magnifique voice, phrasing, amazing music arrangements..captive your attention like nobody..she tone and look like à stradivarius ❤
You're right about everything you say, yes she's more than perfect.
Thanks for this, Nick. I hope Lara’s rendition of the “Yentl Medley” is on your list bc, seriously, it’s a masterpiece and a masterclass.
I bought 3 coffees and this one is in the 3 reactions I requested 😀
@ YaY! Thanks, Eric. It’ll be a very nice reaction! 🙌🏻
Lara, the most beautiful voice in the world!!!❤❤😊
She is an amazing singer. Thanks for introducing her to USA audiences.

So do you guys know how to cure this illness? 😂

I love this song and her voice is nothing short of amazing ❤
Mine too. I'll be in Paris 4 days later.
But I am a fan of people like you who speak with so much enthusiasm and knowledge about what they are passionate about
Yea, Nick is different. He explains to us "Why" we love her so much. Among the very best.
I love them!
watching Lara Fabian is like attending a master class in vocal performance she is the Ultimate Artist !
The personal connection while singing is what distinguishes her from the multitude. I’m pretty sure that’s why I always feel like a schmuck when I listen to Broken Vow and Je suis malade.
Lara c est une merveille , je ressens tellement ses chansons que chaque fois les larmes coulent c est tellement beau ,je l aime ❤❤
Lara Fabian really is the best at emoting; sincerity and empathy at this level can’t be taught.
Thank's for your react about our Queen Lara ❤❤❤🫂🫂🫂
I was lucky enough to hear her in concert in Budapest four days before I went to Dimash’s concert. A number of us were hoping she and Dimash might make a surprise visit in the other’s concert. Of course she was phenomenal. She sang Broken Vow which is my favorite of her songs. I almost always cry when hearing it.
I’m very happy to hear you reacting to her.
You didn’t mention that she was in raised in Belgium and attended music school, studying Bel Canto for ten years. Dimash said that as a teen he used to fall asleep listening to her sing.
Me too! In Budapest, april 2018. LARA was fantastic!!
I love her and I love your analysis and how you appreciate her artistry! You are my favorite reactor right now 😁 keep the Lara reactions coming!
Sure there are significant differences (Barbara has the very characteristic fast Vibrato, I prefer Lara's straight tone into soft wide Vibrato), but there is "something" and Lara's love for "Babs" work is well documented and understood......see if you can hear AND SEE what I mean => th-cam.com/video/FEbafV3PFuQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IrKu3qC1GtcoHI4P
That entire Concert she did for Charity at her home in Malibu was the first time she sang in public in decades. In a way America missed a lot of Barbara's prime, just like we missed "The RING's".
Lara's concerts have been and will continue to be a benchmark for the French-speaking world.
This is one of my favourites
"En toute intimité"

This concert has it all
The quality of the image
Lara's incredible voice
Fabulously performed, intimate music
And full English translation as close as possible to the lyrics
This concert is Lara's soul
A must-see
I won't pile on to the love below, Nick.
I love Lara ❤❤❤ kisses from Italy 😘😘😘
As Richard and Johnny said on their Throga channel, “Who in their right mind could ever leave her, betray her?”
While she was shut down in the US, she was still huge in the rest of the world
Lara the best the queen ❤❤❤❤❤
You are very well spoken just like Lara.
For a minute, I thought you might be a well spoken Aussie until I listened to you roll your rs. Our rs are more of an ah sound.
You got me when you said 'mate'.
Great listening !!
Lara was unfortunately overshadowed by Celine Dion and Sony. Marketing!! Both very relevant during that time, but Celine was given more exposure. Unfortunate for us, but now we know her and can experience her mastery and brilliance in her craft.
In italiy Lara was very know in her best period
Here is a gallon of tea and without all the commercial BS and marketing. It took a LOT of guts for Lara to say NO to Sony who tried turning her into another "dancing queen". David Foster finally figured it out....
Cliff notes from "The Vocal Trinity" video below [Answers to WHY Lara Fabian did not reach the success in the US that she did around the world):
It's very well documented, "The Vocal Trinity" and the powerful men behind them, did everything they could to keep Lara away from their own US market sensations.
"Who should I sing it with", and I said "well the best person on the planet to sing it with is Lara Fabian" but she lives in Europe so we had to figure that one out and we actually recorded it over the internet but they're here to sing it live tonight please welcome back Michael Bolton and Lara Fabian".
th-cam.com/video/M__6PFD1YEw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GkKsQrlwOEmkI19s
And for an encore in that Concert Foster asks Lara to sing "Caruso", and song he once produced for Josh Groben.
Please welcome Lara Fabian."

Beautiful Queen ❤
Really enjoyed your reaction. I think Lara Fabian is truly amazing. I would love you to react to more from her. I would suggest perhaps Adagio or Caruso but there is so much to choose from I can’t choose a favourite
Lara Fabian is perfect! ❤

Sublime Lara ❤❤❤❤
I love your reactions Nick, thank you so much, i think you need to react to lara fabian je t'aime live from Paris 2001, and bring tissues. Lots of love from Greece, stay healthy and safe
Very nice analysis, thanks 👍
You're so good at this. My favorite reactor is reacting to my favorite singer. This can't get any better. Thank you!
angelic her voice like a murmaid a magic spell every time she sing what a talented performer
❤ She Is a wonderful Singer tecnico and emoticon thank you for your reaction i am a Canadian opera Singer living in Italy from Pavarotti school i am on you tube thank you❤
Wishing you great success.
Amo Lara Fabian e Dimash, os maiores cantores de todos os tempos!
Continue apreciando Lara Fabian e Dimash! ❤❤❤🇧🇷🇧🇷
She sings spanish to quedate for us from curacao the caribaen❤❤❤🇨🇼🇨🇼
The most beautiful voice on earth ❤
I had not heard of Lara Fabian until you introduced her. I had not heard of Floor Jansen either, until I saw her at de Beste Zangers... and I am Dutch😂!!!! It is not shamefull to be clueless, we cannot know everything. But keep the video's coming, love your reactions. 😁
Thank you for this wonderful reaction to Goddess Lara. Eric (Sicard) will tell you why it is not as well known as those we call "the vocal trinity", while today it supplants them all...
Very nice love it ❤❤❤❤❤
Rumors/gossip/conspiracy has it, that in the late 1990's, after getting celine dion to greatness, tony motola (sony music) discovered Lara, and wanted to make her great at least as celine, signed her up and teamed her with all of Celine's writers & composers, and that celine didnt like it even 1 bit.
Also, when her 1st English/US CD was out, the 1st single released from it, was an upbeat teack called "I will love again" (which hit #1), but after her other singles came out (power ballads) ppl were a bit confused with Lara, as much as "we already have celine for this kinda music"...
And an anecdote:
At the 1988 Eurovision song Contest, which celine won, (for Switzerland) at age 18, 15 y/o Lara, came 4th or 5th, representing Luxembourg...
Some news from Lara:

Looking forward to watching this.
And she also created an english version from it titled "To love again" and there afe live videos of this english version as well …
Thanks for your great reaction. Lots of good info too.
Then you should react next to Lara singing Adagio, a song she wrote based on a classic music masterpiece, then check the covers made by Floor or Dimash 😀

There are many vocalists that I like to listen to; I admire, respect and appreciate what they do but, by definition, I have only one favourite. Look deep young “Luke”….😊

Agreed, indeed!!!
🤘🧙♂️🐺
Yeah. I guess there's a good number of great singers. Bur for me personally, Lara works the best. It's not only the singing, it's... Well... All about her performances.
Extremely captivating.
@ Yup she’s my favourite too (but only for 30 years) for so many reasons.
The melody is loosely based on Rachmaninoff's Second Piano concerto, the same tune that Eric Carmen used for "All by Myself"
Concerning your request on why you haven't heard of her - Sony screwed her.
(I've hinted strongly at the reasons for this)
Far from _'insulting peoples' intelligence'_ , my natural inclination is, if anything, to give people _more credit_ than perhaps they deserve in this regard.
Again, this is not mere "armchair" observation and speculation on my part but rather than launch into a lengthy treatise on the human condition I shall leave it to *you* to "fill in the blanks"...that is, if you're so disposed. 😉
@ @ thank you for sparing us undeserving wafs who were not as fortunate to live it the lengthy treatise.
Hello Nick thanks !!! you can read the comment of Eric Sicard ... he's the "wikipedia" about Lara Fabian and he can learn a lot to you about her.. kiss
Caruso is incredible. And her Yentl Medley! Thanx🙂
Dimash and Lara are both better live than recorded. Truly amazing singers
Another aspect of Lara is here she is singing about experiences that most humans experience thereby doubling the impact of
what she is singing about. She knows how to transfer her feelings to the audience and as you said its what makes her amazing
in a live performance. Her performance of Je Suis Malade live from 2000 is a performance you should watch as this might be
one of her best ever if not her best. The ending is quite jaw dropping. th-cam.com/video/BI6ysCN4CY0/w-d-xo.html. This one.
Hey Nick ! I really like watching your videos :) Besides, each time I watch you, I think "damn, this guy is gorgeous" ! You look like a cherub :)
You should see her concert performance of "Je t'aime". It will surprise you.
Another performance by Lara, singing Je t'aime live in Paris where her audience catches her by surprise. There is quite a backstory to this which I'm sure you will be able to find.

You should listen to her Adagio from the same album. There are both Italian and English versions of the song, and both are wonderful.
ADAGIO :-) please listen ;-) the perfect one ! From french fan of lara
I saw her live in June - she's just as amazing now. My only complaint is the concert was shorter than I would have liked!
Must see next: CARUSO ❤
Great reaction! Maybe her best next? "Caruso" from this same concert. Restored version, please.
The reason why she's not as famous as the vocal trinity is because the music industry thought there was only a place for 1 Céline Dion and not 2.🤷♂️
😭 every single time
I love Lara and your reaction was great and very informative! I understand she can sing in 7 or 9 different languages, she is extremely talented and sings with more emotion than any other singer I’ve heard or seen! Josh Groban also released a version of this song, I’m a huge Josh fan, and he did a great rendition!
Her pronunciation is perfection!
You must react to Caruso from the same concert AND yentley Medley live is just a masterpiece
