Thank you so much! We really enjoy watching the nature, and knowing we've done our little bit to help nurture :) Looking forward to adding some more this fall as well!
Thank you! It's been a joy letting our imagination run wild in the garden! And the tropicals add a fun flair into the garden we wouldn't otherwise get in our Texas sun! ☀️
Your garden is beautiful - I enjoy your tours! I recently saw your video about bamboo; it was very helpful as I used your tips in selecting some bamboo to hopefully create a privacy screen in an area of our yard. Hopefully ours grows and thrives even half as well as yours!
Such a beautiful garden! I've only been to Austin once and that was this year for the eclipse. Watched it from the Lady Bird Johnson garden place. A bit cloudy that day as you know but worth the trip.
Thank you! And yes, it was quite an experience this year with the eclipse! Wasn't a perfect view from the Austin area with the clouds, but still got to catch some glimpses of it! :) Glad you enjoyed your trip!
Love watching your videos. With your sedge plant wall try lining the terra cotta pots with plastic. It will help hold moisture since terra cotta wicks water quickly
Thank you! and thank you for that tip! We will try! We also struggle with the sun, and remembering to water these smaller pots more often than our larger ones to be honest too! :) We may try some Coleus or something similar too now that we've got nothing but warm weather for a few months!
You keep referring to a Japonica, while touching a Jatropha integerrima. I know it's hard to keep up with so many names! We lived in Houston for 30 years and collected lots of rare tropical and sub-tropical plants starting in the early 70s. We now live in Zone 8B in Portland, Oregon. We are able to grow a lot of typical sub tropical plants; bananas, gingers, fatsias, and such. but our climate is classified as Mediterranean because of our glorious dry summers. One plant that you might get a thrill from is sheffleras, there are two cold-hardy evergreen sheffleras taiwanianum and delavayi that grow beautifully with no need for cold protection. If you can find them, there are several clerodendrums that should do well for you. Clerodendrums trichotomum is a large shrub or small tree that in midsummer has intensely fragrant jasmine-like scented tubular white blooms with a pink calyx and bright blue seeds. Clerodendrum ugandense and quadriculare both do well in the ground in Texas. We really enjoy your projects as we are long past the energy of your relative youthfulness, but it's fun to live vicariously!
OMG! You are so right!!! even after watching the videos I did not catch it!!! Wow!! thank you! 🌱 That is so wild because Austin (and most of central Texas) is 8b also! Love all of these - that is great!! Would love to see your collection! Yes, love a Shefflera! We actually had a couple for a few years, then the snow-pocalypse took them out sadly and just haven't been able to find them around lately. We will check these others out as well, thank you!! ✨
