    Friggin amazing! Can’t believe it’s been just over a year since all of the boulders and soil were moved in. Thanks for opening your doors Jeremy! I’d never go inside.

    The Texas Rose plant is commonly known as pink skullcap here in Texas. There's also a purple variety, medium purple coloring (more yellow based purple). They can get quite large here, they're always very lovely looking!

    • @juliannetaylor9989
      @juliannetaylor9989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was wondering if it was skullcap! I'll have to give it another try. I tried twice, but they died out🤷. Zone 8a, North Texas

    • @dawnmitchell11
      @dawnmitchell11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@juliannetaylor9989 Mine die back (8b central Texas) in winter and come back like a perennial. You might be too close outside the hardiness temps. We've also had a couple of winters with much lower than usual cold snaps. If it's only been in the last few years, you might try again.
      Also I have mature trees in my yard and all around the neighborhood, which helps with insulation. If you don't have trees near the planting sight, you could try some frost cloth or row cover if temps are going to be below 20*.

    Jeremy's Bristal Briar has filled in at a remarkable rate, and it is gorgeous! After seeing this video, I really need to step up my groundcovers to help suppress weeds. Jim and Stephany, did you notice the cute toad in the righthand corner of the frame at 25:19? It almost looks like a rock, what great camouflage! Thanks for another fantastic garden tour. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! ~Margie🤗🌱

    Wow, that garden has really come along fast. I remember the video from a year ago, with the big boulders, as if it were only yesterday! One of the beauties of ground covers means less weeding, which I'm sure most gardeners are in favor of. Jeremy has some splendid ground covers! I've got both mondo grass and vinca (small) periwinkle ground covers in different areas of my yard. Such a pleasing juxtaposition of ground covers with perennials in this video!

    Genius, with the silver falls. I have always liked the plant, but not the look of it hanging over containers. (Just me, I know) Looks phenomenal as a ground cover. I’m zone 8a, so sounds like it will over winter for me too!

    • @coolwater55
      @coolwater55 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not know either, so will try to put as groundcover too. Love the grey green and it likely will spread well in our area, wet winters, not too cold.

    Such an amazing garden. I live in a naturally rocky area (Zone 6b the highlands of the Hudson Valley), so lots of great ideas from this garden and no construction needed! I have been pulling weeds out of cracks and crevices and replacing with sedum, campanula, rock roses and whatever else I can find that works -- always an experiment. I have learned so much from Jeremy's garden. I can see more junipers in my future and will try the solidago. Thanks again, Jim, for such great content. And thank you Jeremy for sharing your beautiful garden with us.

    I just LOVE this garden!!
    It's really looking GREAT,
    I say good job Jeremy!!! 👍
    Of coarse, when I first saw all the boulders (not gunna lie, I had boulder envy, STILL DO!)
    I knew this garden would be spectacular no matter what the plant material used.
    Now it's just a feast for the eyes!!
    I could spend DAYS exploring this place!!

    Thanks for sharing this video and introducing this Bristol Briar that is Jeremy Schmidt and Meghan Fidler's home. I'm glad you gave enough information for me to find them. I am surprised you didn't include any links for their work but it was easy enough for me to find so perhaps you assumed everyone would be familiar with their work. They are so interesting and knowledgeable. I've been a viewer of you channel for many years and you do a great job! Thanks again for sharing this information on ground covers, I definitely want to source and buy locally many of the ones shown in this video Jeremy Schmidt and Meghan Fidler's Bristol Briar.

    Every time I bring up plants, my husband brings up snakes. Also it’s time that he should not be out doing yard work due to his issues. Ground cover would mean less grass to cut, but it also means maintenance of the ground cover and his issue with snakes. Vicious circle. Your lawn looks glorious! Really beautiful! ❤️

    This garden is inspirational! I love the layering, variety of textures and leaf colors.
    I'm going to try that trick with the dichondra silver falls in my Minnesota garden. I'm renovating a long-neglected front garden overrun by weeds and quack grass and need to fill areas while I let my wallet cool off. Adding perennials one quadrant each season.

    Ground cover adds so much to my garden. In many places I let several duke it out. I have lamium ajugas, sedums, junipers, weeping hemlock, creeping Jenny, and wild strawberries. I mulched with arborist wood chips this spring , and they had no problem popping up through the chips, but the weeds ( mainly perennial grass and morning glory) are much less problem.

    We have purslane (not spurge) growing everywhere, and I decided that because it’s easily to pull, I just let it. If it goes to seed it creates a heavy carpet of tiny seedlings that don’t get big. I’m not sure if this is a good idea but I need something on top of my soil until I figure out what to use.
