I LOVE garden tours. A person could be like, "Look at my garden!" And show me a solitary carrot sprout in the ground, and I would be like,"You're crushing it! I love it!". Never feel self-conscious of your gardens, big or small, folks. You're doing great! Jaques: You're garden is EPIC
Loving the positivity
I would really like a flower tour. Most of the flowers I can identify but the ones I can't, either you don't mention or I'm distracted when you do 😂.
You and the epic channel are my favorites. I watch every day and I’m going to be so sad when I run out of content and have to wait for new videos! lol I have learned so much from you guys I appreciate you very much. I want to make garden content and teach people what I’ve learned.
Can confirm sadness when you run out of videos from those 2
I can always rewatch their videos because I have a memory of a goldfish and forget everything they say
We love hearing this and I am so happy to hear it is helpful for you! Anyone can teach the world how to grow!
I find I watch some over and over, especially if I have an issue and need a refresher course.
@@sheliaheverin8822 I will agree there, I took some agricultural classes in college, however I learned wayyyy more from these videos
The native garden looks amazing!!! It’s wonderful to see a major gardening channel focus on the importance of native plants and providing habitat for native pollinators :)
Yes - I found that portion of the video wonderful too...thank you for sharing
It is something I have started to pay more attention to whether it is natives blended into the garden or in these discrete sections.
WOW! Thank you Jaques! I'm in zone 6 and thought "Eh well, I'll just put this on and support Jaque's channel while I cook dinner." HOLY COW! i need to watch this again and take notes! Thank you for a jam packed episode! And by they way I think your garden is really BEAUTIFUL!
Jacques- oh my God. This is the most incredible garden I’ve ever seen. You are the sweetest most humble person. Thank you for sharing this. And continued success to you. Just wow.
Thank you for the kind words!
Big ole LIKE for the native garden!
Big thanks
I had my first, garden fresh cucumber for part of my breakfast this morning, and even my roomie tried a piece even though he hates cucumber. Thank you guys so much. Keep growing everyone!! 💕💕
Nothing beats homegrown!
WOW just WOW. Your garden is amazing, and inspirational! I love how things are scattered, and the flowers are everywhere. I think people forget to plant flowers, just food. Thank you for sharing all you do!
Flowers are for sure worth it!
I've been waiting a while to see what you palnted in your native garden. Nice selections!
Looks like it'll grow in amazingly.
Thank you!
Please walk us through all your wonderful flowers sometime. The mix with the vegetables is absolutely beautiful! Thanks!
Jaques, you have turned me into a non-conforming gardener! I have a little of everything everywhere!😂
Its more relaxed and fun this way!
I cant wait to figure out how to envision flowers and vegetables all intertwined and spread out like this, we dont have a flat yard and i am just starting out my journey, but over time i can only hope that i remain "into" gardening and don't give up or get bored of it. Garden will grow as i do.
Just keep plugging and playing around and have fun with it. Things click the more you do them and as a side bonus you always get wonderful produce!
@jacquesinthegarden if I could only get cucumbers to grow ill be happy. They are my kryptonite over here. Tomatoes fine... cucumbers hate it. Just gonna sow them week to week/ add different amendment and see if they ever take.
A non flat yard is my dream! Makes earthworks and water capture way easier to put in 😌
Nice work Jacques. Impressive set up and love to see your passion and effectiveness. Gardening is the best, isn't it...We sure do eat well.
For sure I am eating well and happy for it!
Amazing garden. I wasn't into flowers until I found you, Jacques. Thank you. I would love a detailed video on the strawberry guava.
I am SO jealous that you get to have Spring where you live. It’s already blazing hot in south-central Texas and the summer garden is struggling hard. A couple of days ago we had a heat index of 122 degrees F. 😭😭
I feel your pain, though from the other end: It was snowing two days ago in my area. It’s *supposed* to be spring/early summer and yet the air temperature is sniffing at freezing.
@@Muljinn that’s a total bummer too. 😢 Mother Nature needs to stop with her foul mood. 😎
I lived in TX for a few years... It is way too hot down there.
The intense heat ramp you get seems so brutal, thankful for a proper spring!
Love your videos. They inspired me to start gardening this year.
Love to hear this and I can't wait to hear about your success!
Jacques, your garden looks AMAZING🙃. My FAVOURITE part is your huge bed of nasturtiums! I am so, so, soooooo envious. I love make nasturtium pesto because of it's peppery ness. I LOVE it!!!
Amazing, amazing, amazing. Everything looks beautiful. Your excitement is contagious.😊 looking forward to harvest, your hard work and dedication shows🎉
Favorite day is the first tomatoes right out of the garden!
Absolutely awesome and inspirational video Jacques.
Congrats on hitting 400k, Jacques! Half a million is right around the corner!
Thank you it is truly around the corner, wild stuff!
Having been a follower since day one it’s SO cool to see all the tiny trees and bushes get bigger and bigger. Water feature is going to be so dope I know it.
I just noticed you have a bird of paradise. Show that sometime when its in full bloom. They are beautiful.
Enjoyed your tour! Your garden is beautiful.
Almost depressing to see your perfect garden in a great climate... we had yesterday a hail storm here in Switzerland and thankfully not too much damage. I like all the helpful tips you give to plants and how to treat them. Thank you so much for this ❤
I am very grateful to have this climate!
I would love to see more from your native garden! :)
Kind of funny I feel like I needed a “spoiler alert” when I saw your California poppies. My sister sent me some for Christmas and I planted them and have been waiting to see what they look like in bloom. 😂 lovely 😊
The garden is looking wonderful!!! Thank you for letting us visit :D
Your garden is so dreamy. Thank you for taking the time to give us a tour and tell us about your plans! I feel like I'm learning so much as 'just' a balcony gardener dreaming of my own yard one day. Thank you for this, the dog cameos, and the updates!
Absolutely! Thanks for stopping by.
Once I finally get my green house built (still in the box several years later...) I'm going to put my greenstack in there and fill it with strawberries thanks to watching you! I've got a small basket of them that I fight the squirrels for even though it's got netting and hung off the ground about 4 feet - I love fresh strawberries and didn't know what to do until I saw you had them in your green house after you got it. Love the garden tour - thanks for sharing!!
New game…….Take a shot every time Jacques says “wonderful”.
I always have a favorite word of the day haha
What an EPIC garden tour!!!!! I love and appreciate it soooo much! Thanks Jacques ❤🎉😊
It's been fun watching your garden change and evolve!
Omgosh! Prolific and beautiful garden! Wow😮
What a wonderful, beautiful garden Jacques!
Jacquelynn!
Jacques holding the line on saying "chamomile" right. 🤣
Someone has to!
I had the same experience with blueberries! Started with three last year and added 3 more this year. Definitely something everyone should grow!
They are so good it is actually ridiculous
@@jacquesinthegarden 💯
@@jacquesinthegarden btw I grow 30+ mulberry varieties, all on year 1 and 2. Some root easily, some are known not to root at all. Lmk if you want to try to graft some onto your tree 😁
Your garden looks AMAZING! I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see how the summer garden turns out! :D
Looks amazing over there! Enjoy your harvests! ❤
Your garden is amazing! Your coastal climate is a great place to grow so many things. I lived there for a short time, and seeing your Pride of Madera and your Foxtail Agave makes me miss my So Call garden. I'm in the Missouri Ozarks now, learning to garden in a new climate, and getting my garden established. So far, it's going great. Your videos are inspirational.
I'd like to see a entire video dedicated to possible uses of a landscape staple!
SOO many uses
I planted a native tree :) A buckeye tree! Hoping it brings eternal luck to my team :)
O-H!
That is awesome, those nuts look so cool, too bad they aren't edible!
I started sorrel in a pot 4 years ago and although I chop it back regularly it still grows like a weed. Great to add to salads, but I like to puree it with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper to make a nice sauce for fish. Like you I'm looking forward to one of the best garden years ever!
Oh man I can see it making a really wonderful standalone sauce like that, great idea!
Your garden is looking amazing. I would love to see a compilation of everything you harvest from your garden throughout the season. Maybe you can do a video at the end of the season.
Beautiful work 🎉
Interesting fact: Pink Lady apple was developed in 1974 in Western Australia (where I live) by horticulturalist John Cripps. It has become famous worldwide!
Love it!
Looks Amazing 👍
Jacques! I didn't know that carrot seeds you harvest actually germinate in fewer days. Great info as always. Your garden inspires! Cheers.
And the rates are HIGH!
I need to start more seeds. Your right. I will be pulling onions, potatoes and garlic soon so I will need something...hmmmm. Off to the seed drawers I go.
I always forget but not this year!
@@jacquesinthegarden Thanks for the reminder. Watch you as a daily morning routine even tho I'm in 5b you provide much good "training" even for the more seasoned gardeners. Been too busy getting ready for our community garden walk. It's a big deal for me this year. But already to set aside tomorrow to get'r done. Thanks again. Something colorful connected us today.🫶
🌿🥀One Girl's Garden.
I am loving your native garden areas. Keep those updates coming. Your Phacelias look fabulous, btw!
I wish I had more phacelia this year but it is bound to drop hundreds of seeds!
Awesome! Everything looks amazing! I can't wait to see your new water feature.
You guys help me everyday with my garden thank you
Great to hear this!
Beautiful garden Jacque. I love the native gardens.
I am really starting to appreciate them more and more
Your garden is blowing up. This year was not my year for flowers. All of the seeds that I planted none of them grew up. But I’ll keep trying everything else is blowing up though reminds me I need to do a tour as well. can’t wait to see the results later this year. Hope all is well. Take care.
Beautiful garden, Jacque
I loved everything about it. I especially enjoyed the native garden. I live in the Altadena area near Pasadena, and you gave me an idea about seeking out native plants for my area. I love your videos and the information you share. Keep up the good work.
You are actually right next to one of the most amazing Native plant nurseries! I got a lot of plants when I was up there last year, they are called "Theodore Payne Foundation" and they have a fantastic selection.
I've been so busy with uni lately plus it's winter here so I haven't spent much time in the garden lately. But this video is so inspiring! It makes me really excited to get back out there! Thank you
Looking great! Hanging out for the epic irrigation video 🤓
Thank you for not calling it summer! I hate when people jump the gun on calling it the next season, but it seems that people do that before every seasonal switch.
I ALMOST did!
I loved the tour of your garden Jacques! You are very inspiring to fellow gardeners. Here in Plymouth, UK, we are a little behind you when it comes to planting veggies. My tomatoes have just started to produce their first flower stalks and my cucumbers have just produced their first true leaves. I have however, managed to harvest over 1Kg of spinach beets. I'll be picking my Field Beans at the end of the month. Manage Tout and Peas are growing well and should start to harvest them in about a weeks time. Thank you once again.
Sounds like you are well on the way to that summer harvest! 1kg harvest is great already! Are the field beans a dry bean? I have only heard of field peas before.
Thank you for the tour Jacques. Always love seeing gardens in different areas. Talking about June gloom reminds me of growing up in Santa Barbara, definitely can relate. Hope your prediction of a "best year yet" comes true!
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
Looks beautiful. I have a problem growing peas and beans too, but my problem is the weather in Chicago. I will keep trying. I planted scarlet runner beans. Many brassica successes though. Thanks. Love your videos
Love this video Jacques! Oh my gosh and your kale is like a mini tree!!!! Amazing!
I really love my mini kale tree forest
If you only have one or two vines you can mix 1 part milk to 4 parts water and spraying every couple weeks it will kill downy mildew
I did Oaxacan Green corn last season. It turned out great. Nice for cornmeal / masa and decorations.
Looking forward to this harvest!
Love hearing about the kale! Tomatoes are my fav too. Salute.
i like doing things that no one has tried nice job
So exciting!
Looks amazing, Jacques! 😊
I absolutely love the garden tours. My tomato plants (started by me from seed) are looking so good this year. The stems are so thick and stout. We have those "fake" strawberry plants that grow here...they taste like straw. I dont think they are edible. 😅
11:10 i love the little dinos! so cute
Very inspiring garden!
I have 17 acres of manzanita, pine and oak- we make manzanita tea with the flowers - it’s delicious!
Woah that is amazing! I will have to try the tea when I start getting more blooms!
Yep a California Native friend of mine taught me that. You can also make manzanita jelly from the blossoms. A lot like rose petal jelly:) add some jalapeños and spoon over cream cheese mmmmmm!
Your garden looks great!
Beautiful garden ❤it.
Manzanita and Madrone are an excellent visual combination.
Oh yeah that is a great combination
I love purple flowers in the garden😊. I want to try growing a jacaranda tree from seed since we dont have this tree available in garden centers but dont know if its worth it. Would be great to see if it will take before i order the seeds and try myself.
I actually planted 3 sisters this year, and I've gotta say, it really depends on the bean. I planted all my seeds at once (time constraints and all) and some of my beans are being far outpaced by my corn, and some of my beans i can tell are going to need poles until the corn can catch up. And maybe it's my zone or my varieties, but my winter squash are moving very slowly. Corn is outpacing them with no problem.
Yeah honestly it is a wild card with the beans
You can use copper fungicide its organic for mildew. It helps tremendously with it.
It is something I have played with on and off again
I'm also in san diego but everything is growing slow because of the may gray and now June gloom. Your plants are are looking good.
Everything just slowed down big time with this think June gloom
You’re garden looks amazing. Love the huge plants.
tried to grow kale. Bugs decimate it then it goes to seed. A lacy leaf variety is the only one of many that had survived. 😢
I also planted a whole ok of sweet peas. I got a couple scraggly vines that didn’t last very long. Not sure why.
The peas really hate hot weather if that is a thing where you are now
My Berkeley Tie Dye and Cherokee Carbons both have several (almost) golf ball sized tomatoes. Zone 7b Northern VA.
That is awesome! Not too far from tomato season!
Love the CA native garden. Have you tried growing Wooly Blue Curls? IMO the most amazing smelling plant. Like candy. And a great pollinator.
I haven't tried that one yet but I will add it in to the rotation!
The best guacamole I've ever tasted had yerba buena in it. I use spearmint as a substitute but you could use the real thing! 💚
Woah that is amazing to hear I am 100% trying this next time!
✋ Love your channel, love your videos. It would be really helpful if you gave watering tips while wandering through your beds - like what kind of drip, for how long do they run, why you choose these over others, how many gpm and for how long ... AND as a bonus, how do you control gophers for the in ground beds? Thanks Jacques .... PS - I know there are countless videos that are stand-alone watering tips but showing how choice in action is really so much more revealing ... like I was trying to figure out on the first shot - are those sq ft gardening drip lines? are they 1/2" that you poked holes in or were they pre-drip like 1/4" .... why no specific emmiters if it's converted 1/2" - you see, besides the glory of the summer plants, there's all these questions about how to get there ....again, thank you Jacques! 💝
I pretty much use three different "lines" 1/2" supply line with no holes, 1/2" line with built in and pre-spaced emitters, and 1/4" lines with built in and pre-spaced emitters.
Love your garden tour! Always something going in the garden! I'd love to know what shoes you have on though! They look great for being out and doing yardwork!
They are Blundstone! After buying cheaper plastic shoes that broke apart every year I went with these and they have held up very well for me.
@@jacquesinthegarden Thank you for the recommendation! We will look those up!
Looks great! This year I'm trying some sweet potato among other crops to see if it can act as ground cover. Also trying Christmas limas up my pear trunks...I have no idea if it will work
Seems like it should work!
yea I only planted 5 seed potatoes and the vegetation takes up an area of 10'x4'. very lush
I have been growing them almost exclusively in containers so I am happy to see how massive they are in the beds.
Nearby SanDiego is Julian well known for apples. Please visit and explain.
Absolutely loving the native garden! Any plans on adding milkweed? I see you got a dog and he could potentially eat it. They do great in pots(that could be kept away if possible since they are poisonous to dogs)
Jacques, your garden is absolutely THRIVING! Everything looks so healthy. I also love your native garden, especially the one under the window. Manzanita is one of my favorite native plants, followed by Ceanothus. Which type of Ceanothus did you plant? The smell of the flowers is wonderful, and the bees love it. We have Hummingbird Sage, which will spread on its own, and the flower stalks are fantastic, however be prepared to stake them because they frequently are so heavy that they flop over.
I believe we went with Yankee Point as our main large one but we have a white ceanothus and a creeping one as well!
The hummingbird sage does seem to break all the time!
Hi there, was there a video where you show all the garden beds and/or areas that you double shoveled? thank you for the video.
summer is here in Oklahoma
I am sure you know this but figured I would say it anyways. I went to a nursery in the San Pasqual/Escondido area of San Diego a few months ago and spoke with who I think was the owner (very nice man) and asked him what chill hours means. In my brain, chill hours meant 32* or less and he said that it is actually around the 45* mark. For me, that makes a world of difference as here in SD, we don't typically see 32* and means we may be able to grow more things than we think. IE, I never knew I could grow hard neck garlic in our area because most things I saw said we were too warm but I grew it and was successful. Basically, being a gardener to me means experimenting with things and taking chances. If something works, sweet, do it again. If not, do it anyways! Kidding...Sort of!
100% it is always worth trying things first before deciding it doesn't work. Of course there are some exceptions like trying to grow a banana outside in zone 5
Beautiful garden! Anyone know what brand of greenhouse Jaques is using?
Hey its that dude from epic garden! Just subbed :)
Hey Jacques. The garden looks amazing. How are you keeping squirrels, raccoons, skunks, etc out of your garden?
Thanks for the tour - everything is looking great!
I was wondering if you think different trellis systems work better for different types of tomatoes?
Florida weave is probably best for determinate even though I like using it for indeterminate tomatoes. Cages are also ideal for determinates. Single leader is best for slicers and a lot of growth is best for cherry tomatoes.
Awesome garden, Jacques. All is looking fabulous. Surprisingly enough, I got aphids on my onions. I was always under the impression that alliums repelled these little buggers. I’m going to try your technique with the kale. Does this also work with collard trees? Mine is massive!
It seems to work for collard trees as well! Onions do get aphids but it is a specific onion aphid if I recall correctly
I love the way you intermingle plants and flowers. Would you please spell out that unusual plant that you mentioned everyone asks about? I'm guessing it won't grow in zone 6b/7 but would like to double check:).
Pride of Madeira!
