I want the quads to come back. UTVs are getting out of reach for most people due to the skyrocketing prices. Quads offer a lot of fun for cheaper prices.

I tell my four kids all the time about the legendary Honda 250R 2stroke! What a machine!
We have 4 wheelers, side X sides, and dirt bikes. All 4 strokes, Honda’s, Polaris’s, Kawasaki’s.... only thing that is close to raw power and quickness is riding a s modern 2stroke snowmobile!!!!

I would buy a new Honda 450, but to be completely honest I'm really hoping for a Raptor/YFZ/KFX/LTR Honda 1000 ect... just give me a manual 1000cc sport quad and I'm 1000% buying!

That sounds cool. But I'd need a auto clutch. I'm not great at multitasking. I can focus on the brakes and throttle fine, but keeping the quad from stalling seems hard. But maybe I'm overthinking. I still have yet to get a sport quad.
Honda released a statement shortly after discontinuing the trx450r and trx400x saying that unless there was a major shift in the markets demand then Honda won't attempt to release another sport quad and that they would reasses the market in a few years. We've definitely been taking the right steps recently to see a future where that happens but I still think we have a long ways to go to see the type market that the early-mid 2000s had.
Great info, thanks.. I wouldn't want to see the market the way it was in the early 2000s, there were obviously too many machines at one point.. I'd love to see Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki get back in for racing sake and I think an affordable 400cc trail oriented machine like the 400x or z400 would be a great thing!

Honda is famous for coming out with one change at a time. Perhaps there's a shortage of automotive engineers in the world? - lol Considering this, my bet is that they revamp their flagship utility ATV, the Rincon, before they redo a sport quad. I only say this because utility ATV's outsell sport quads and Honda doesn't have a competitive big bore utility right now. Having said this, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for either - LOL

Haha! Thanks Q! My rebuttal would be that Honda and Yamaha both aren't concerned with big bore ATVs (850 and up) because that market is far smaller than us TH-camrs think it is.. As is, Honda is the second leading seller of ATVs because mid bores sell the most by far... I mainly advocate for the TRX450R from the race fan perspective, racing is better with factory support..
We did get our hands on a new Rubi with a footshift for onDemand.. What a phenomenal machine that thing is! I bet you're loving it!

Honda disappointed me. They are releasing a TRX250 along with a TRX90....
There’s many sport quads I loved to be brought back like the ltz, Ltr, kfx, ds, ex (400 and 300) I love them soooo much but people have different interest now and many people are going to side by sides and big sport utility quads like the scrambler and renegade so I find it hard for these manufacturers to bring back these legends but I sure hope they do
You're probably right, but you can't mx race a Scrambler, and the big 4x4s aren't nearly as fast in xc racing

You are OUT of your mind for suggesting a 10k+ unit. I know we live in a world of 20k side by sides but those are usually bought by consumers with family’s or a significant other to take with them. Sport quads faded out because the economy died and people had to let go of a 7k+ machine. While the Yfz450r is above 9k it’s the only one out there so biting the bullet financially is the only way to get ahold of a sport atv. Price points for people these days are barely over 6k for new. Most people would just keep shopping the used market for sport atvs that around 3-4K if all new sport quads are around 9-12k.
History will teach you that new technology is always awesome as long as the benefit doesn’t outweigh the financial risk, that is why the used 450rs and 400 ex sold more than brand new.
I just hope these Japanese companies come back to their senses and make all new sport quads again, I know there is still huge fan base behind them. I’m praying

What if Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki are all secretly planning to release 450s by next year or so. That would be a dream come true. What would probably happen is Honda dropping a new trx. Kawasaki and Suzuki would either now have the urge to make another 450 to compete with Yamaha or Honda or they wouldn’t give a shit about what Honda or Yamaha is doing with their quads.
That would be sweet! I think Suzuki coming back out with the ltz400 would make the most sense..
Although a 2021 Trx250r or 450r would absolutely make 2021 the best year ever I’m definitely not holding my breath. What I do know is the North American Honda CEO said back in 2015 Honda will never see another trx450 ever made. It’s a dead industry. I wish I could remember his name ugh. Dave something I want to say. You could still have bought a brand new Trx450er off the showroom floor in 2018. The only way to get a new today is call Walsh and have them make you a 2021 crf450. Sorry folks. I’ve been wanting a stock FI 450 tor 10+ years and It’s been talked about since Kawasaki put a FI in 08 hat Honda should do the same and never did. He’ll the only charge they made was in 07 with the er model

I prefer the current styled plastics as the new 400x looks like a yamaha more if you were to remove the headlight. The plastic style can change a bit as long as a you can run the iconic mx hood most racers run like joel hetrick
That's definitely true, it's even harder to tell a mud covered ltr450 from a yfz450, but the 400x aren't too dramatically different.. I definitely like to be able to pick out Jared McClure, McGill, and Borich by their Honda hoods..
@@DirtObseXXion yeah, fourwerx carbon fiber goods are really good looking especially their vented ones. But I know there are other good hoods but the one hetrick runs is my favorite

An underrated machine for sure! We're race fans tho, that's why we want to see the 450r.. The 700xx is a great trail quad tho, in our 2020 yfz450 vid we had a guy with us on one climbing crazy hills at the end of the vid..

If you join the Trx 450 Facebook group you can see that people are putting 19+crf 450 motors in Trx frames for racing mx. I have never seen a hybrid gncc or desert racing quad. There are hybrid dune quads. 1 guy local to me in Arizona is gonna be putting a 21 crf 450 in his Trx. I’m exited to see that build.

I got a trx450r 05 model the engines been screwed up n it ever since i baught it new ive rebuilt the engine 4 times everytime brank bear falls out im not spending 1 more dime on it when there the cr500 engine that fits it and now a company called panthra 2 stroke 550cc motor for the trx450 because they new the 450 engine was junk and the trx450 frame has a missing weld on the top rear shock bracket there should b a weld n the middle of that braket mines getting a cr500 motor on it unless the cr500af 2017 bolts right n im pretty sure

I’ve got a 1999, and a 2001 Honda 400ex and I’ve had to rebuild them both (I’ve owned the 99 since new and the 01 for about 4 years) and I can tell you it bothers me the fact that every time I’m in the middle of nowhere it freaks me out knowing that something could go wrong and it’s just not the same power it used to be, really wish that they would at least attempt to bring back the 400/450.

What I never understood is they make the dirtbike motors more powerful than their quad motors. The HP difference between and trx450r back when they made them and a crf450r are pretty significant. Quads are heavier too so if anything they should make quads more powerful, not bikes.
I haven’t looked into the stats but maybe they were calculating HP to the wheels? With the same engine size but drastic chassis weight differences it’d make sense that the quads wouldn’t put out as much HP to the wheels as a dirtbike would. Just speculation, no research beforehand so don’t take my word on it
@@thetamoto7974 he's talking crank hp and what he says is true. A crf450r in 2008 made 53whp while the 2006-14 trx450 made 42bhp.
