It would be hard to choose from all the knives you have tested. Buying one of each would cost a small fortune. However, the ones you have kept as collection pieces are favorites for more reasons than being the best. I would buy the same ones without hesitation from your recommendations.
Most of the knives I have are older ones because of being older. I have mostly Cold Steel heavy-duty knives. Cold Steel did similar testing of their knives from the start. I have a VCR tape made before I ever owned or needed a computer or cellphone.
Watching your video testing is great entertainment and fun to see. I have learned more than I knew before from your videos.
You show a higher level of extreme testing of knives have taken it to a higher level than done before. I believe knife makers have learned as much from your video testing as your subscribers have. You may not get credit from any but be certain you deserve it.
It would be interesting to hear your opinion on folding knives as well. There are few to none that come close to fixed blade performance. Looking forward to seeing what comes in 2023. Happy New Year to you.🍻🎊✨⚔

Well they used to... they've been bought out and who knows what the future will hold. They kept Lynn Thompson at least through last year, but they do seem to have done a bit downhill and are moving to the mass market chinamart market.

All the effort you put in what you are doing duly appreciated!
    Couple of reminders/remarks:
    a. Bahco 2449 HD Wrecking Knife? It is cheap and indestructible - the manufacturer’s own schematics at the back of its box specifically show its spine can be beaten with a common metallic hammer and there are videos on TH-cam doing exactly this, without the knife showing any major damage! Made of C100 carbon steel [very similar to 1095].
    b. SOG SEAL Pup & Team?
    c. “Jääkäripuukko” [Commando Knife - remember J. P. Peltonen’s Sissipuukko: Guerilla Knife or SpecOps (Unorthodox Warfare) Operative Knife] is pronounced like your German “Jäger” [= Hunter, hence Special Forces Operative - Commando or Raider], not like “Jackal” - it would be good to hear it correctly for once, especially from a European AND German speaker - I am sick of listening to the “Americans” butchering it!

Ahhh, good choices my friend. And guess what? You came to the same conclusion as the US Navy Seals-- that AUS8 was the best all around hard use/stain resistant/easy to sharpen/tough survival knife steel. That's why they've been carrying the SOG Seal Team Elite 7" AUS8 Fixed Blade for decades. Survival Lily is a smart cookie. She quickly saw that an AUS8 SRK was bombproof and smartly copied and modified it. The Terava Puukkos are excellent, but they rust easy and don't have as many features as the APO-1.

As always a good and interesting video. I can understand the order of your ranking and I think it is good that you include the price as an important criterion. It is not necessesary to hurry with your explanations.

JoeX I started watching your videos around 6 months ago. At first I was irritated at the abuse of knives (so I thought) afterwards I came to realize you were holding these knives to an extremely high standard. I’ve since stopped hating of knvies made out of Aus-8 Aus-10 and D2 knives. I also own the Glock knife 78 now as well! Of those different steels mentioned which is your preferred steel for longevity? I know you, “like Aus-8 steel.” But I’m just curious. Thanks friend and keep the videos coming! Love seeing these!

    Great selection Joe.
When you use your knives, you come to the same conclusions as yours or Noos4 a decade ago. Many knives are made to be sold. Fewer are also made to be used.
And sadly, except for some really gifted craftsmen, masters in heat treating, the price they charge bore no relation to the real quality of the blade.

@JOE X love your channel I love Survival knives and one of the few people I think understands the difference between Survival knives are and what a Camp/Bushcraft knives are. The APO1S is a great Survival knife. Too many think of Survival like camping not needing flexibility and easy to sharpen in the field not breaking under pressure of occasional hard prying. They think from a pure Camping mentality. I love Super Steels but most are not anything I would want in a Survival knife. I prefer softer steel to hard brittle steel that is hard to sharpen in the field. Tools are purpose driven and most miss that mark not every knife should have the same qualities. The quality should fit the reason and purpose of the tool.
