I think Billlie's whole concept is about lost childhood, and it's more evident in this new EP. Especially in this MV, you see that most of their set shows a "kids place" (playground, kid's cafe, the 11th bday cake candle). Billlie is looking for the child in them that has been lost by many reasons. They are unsure why that child is gone so they are unsure if the child in them is even real.

On the eleventh day, at the eleventh hour when the bell chimes eleventh times, purple rain will fall and a dark monster will take you to the other side.
That's when Billie Love went missing and 7 friends (Billlie) became liars.
Billllie wants to showcase that to each visible side, the A-side, there is a hidden side, the B-side. While the first title track seemed to be more about the A-side (aka reality) this title seems to be about the B-side (the supernatural).
In the 23 minute trailer (which is basically a short film) it is explained that the girls forgot about each other as well as the girl called Billie Love. It is insinuated that they locked Billie away in the "most safe and dangerous place". They also received invitation cards that are given to them by someone with purple nails (purple rain, perhaps Billie Love).
They described their concept as a murder mystery and its certainly interesting. They just released the OSTs (arrangments of the ep songs) as well.
Honestly, Billlie has become my favorite group now. Interesting Concept, fantastic songs, talented members. I'm glad they are finally getting more attention.
Btw, whilst I think its unlikely, will you post a listening party here to TH-cam? Or is it on pateron as usual?

Btw, Suyeon goes by Sheon (션) in this group because they already had a Suhyeon (수현) before she joined. So to avoid confusion between the two, they changed the name.

The intro quote is actually by a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, who was the founder of analytical psychology. He was influenced by Freud, and his teachings talked a lot about the unconscious parts of mind and the effect they have on one's life.

Gingamingayo is a song about growing up and finding this new world (adulthood) to be confusing and contradictory
So my guess on Billlie's concept is that "Billie" isn't dead. She grew up. And is not the same person she used to be as a kid. (And gingamingayo kind of implies she misses it)

For me that music is about breaking through an hypnotic state of unconscious where people have a collective and “monochrome” behavior seen as “the beauty of growing up” when it’s actually just a mask to fit into society. It gives me the feeling of rebellion, the “nursery song” kind of rhythm has the ability to entertain kids and have them on a “hypnotized/distracted” state of mind, since the more you grow up thte more you’re socialized, you as a kid is interpreted as your true self, so imo the chorus is perfect to fit the concept and it’s really well thought.

Billlie have two Main Rappers (Moon Sua & Siyoon), two Main Vocals (Haram & Suhyeon) and now two Main Dancers (Tsuki & Sheon/Suyeon). In addition four of the members who hold Main roles (Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Sheon & Siyoon) ALSO have Lead roles. The group is just STACKED with talent, and so far, Mystic Story has done EVERYTHING right building them up. Considering the overload of new girl groups these days, what Billlie is doing is the best way to stand out and succeed, in my opinion!

RingXRing was great as a debut; to introduce the group, concept, show off their vocals and performance, and let people know what the concept is.
That being said, GingaMingaYo is definitely amazing as a comeback; to get more people to like them as a group and hooked onto their sound (because RXR is a ride).

So if you listen closing, the number 11 is in so many of their songs. It’s cause Billie went missing on the 11th day after 11 bells chimed. And the rain turned purple for some reason? They have several pre-debut short films introducing the lore
I also highly recommend watching Tsuki’s fancam for this song. Her facial expressions and stage presence is out of this world.
Edit: I just saw a theory that each comeback takes place in a different universe and there is a different Billie for each comeback. I think they were saying this comeback Siyoon is Billlie since she isn’t there when they are locking up Billlie, possibly implying she was the one being locked up. And since Suhyeon had the joker card, she could be the previous Billie. If anyone wants the tiktok- I’ll link it! It’s by dosii on TT
But also, Haruna is definitely acting strange af. She seems to be the only one to remember Billlie, at least in this come back. And she was waiting to get her card, while everyone else was confused. And her ending pose, i’m convinced she either knows something or plays a bigger part.

Not only is the number 11 in their songs, it's literally hidden in plain sight in their name also: Billlie/Bi11lie - straight from the beginning and out of their debut concept movie titled "Bi11lie chapter one"! Their group name 'Bi11lie' is already a whole universe in itself, containing 'Bi' (the Korean word for rain), '11' (part of their '11th day, 11 bells' lore, also karmic & mystical number in numerology, associated with spiritual awakening), and 'lie' (as a distortion of the truth).
What did Prince say about "Purple Rain" (another part of their lore)? When there’s blood in the sky… red and blue equals purple… purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith guide you through the purple rain." I think this is what Billlie is all about: the struggles of adolescence, the feeling of loneliness and a sense of not fitting in, them [the adults] vs. us, the childhood paradise lost, and in the end, the vague hope for deliverance, some catharsis on the mind.
Psychoanalysis much? Hey, they quoted Carl Jung, it wasn't me! ^^

So, after you explained what GingaMinga(Yo) means, the lyrics made a little bit more sense. Like, I'm not an expert and this is just my interpretation, but it largely seems about the strangeness of adulthood/growing up and how questioning it can get you all sorts of pat answers like, "That's just the way it is." So there's this uneasiness of a strange world where no one seems to understand it, but pretends they do. Or something to that effect? As for the 11/Billlie references. Could also be implying--based on the sets/visuals--your childish self? Or possibly being an outsider (re: questioning the strangeness of the world)?
I'm rambling and might be wrong, but that's just the vibe I get. (Especially because the dance moves, too, sort of imply childishness/strangeness)

Can't wait for the album reaction, PD!

Billlie's mesmerizing charisma and in depth lore really has pulled me into their world. I hope you react to their predebut lore films as well! Also its funny that you said the piano notes in the start would suit a K-Drama OST, since they just released an OST instrumental album for TCSAU.

I love that Billlie has kinda it's own style which is really difficult to have, especially so early on in their debut. Also Tsukis fancam got a little bit of traction for her facial expressions and I would like if you watch the performance version that shows it's really unique choreo.
PS: also check a clip of their group cheer, it's hilarious

I LOOOOVE this comeback from Billlie! It’s super catchy and has been stuck in my head for days! The thing that really brought me into it though was watching Tsuki’s fancam because the way she performs this song and her facials really brought me into the story and made me lookup the MV immediately to see the story and how it translated to how she performed the song. And seeing all of the girls performing it, I’m sold 1000%

I don't know if you will have the time but they also released a 11min short film and I recomend you watch their live stage or dance practice (Tsuki's fancam on Arirang went SUPER viral). Maybe as part of the album-LP :)

thank you for your reaction and the explanation of GingaMingaYo~ i am liking more and more of Billlie's music and they have this really unique sound to them (i actually got hooked on flippin' a coin after ring x ring). the other rapper is Siyoon (in your words "She is soooo bad ass"), she shares the main rapper role with Sua. the choreography for this song is amazing too. it's very intricate in all the movements that they incorporate, even the most simplest ones. i agree with you that in this MV every single member of Billlie was really showcased! it's really amazing because with Ring x Ring, I also noticed just Sua, Haram, Suhyeon and Tsuki (pigtails). but with GingaMingaYo, i noticed the rest - Siyoon, Haruna and Sheon. Tsuki (the one in pigtails/space buns) is their main dancer btw and as mentioned, one of the ones i immediately noticed in their debut mv.
you're not alone in still being baffled by their reference to "11".

So from what I saw on one of the music shows, the song itself is about what it means to be an adult. You know how people are like, "I think I'm adulting but I honestly have no clue?" Yeah, this song is basically like that.
The strange part is probably the beginning of adulthood, where you're trying to figure what's "right and wrong" with being an adult and being told you're wrong or weird for doing something differently than the other "adults". You know, like how kids going through puberty often get called weirdos by their elders because they're trying to figure out who they are.
But all in all, such a fun song and even more fun to watch. You should definitely check their performances out if you haven't done so already. Facial expressions are so on point and chaotic

Great review! This mini album is on repeat for me. It’s much more vocal and dreamlike, I think you’d enjoy it! Also really love the video and the movie references (like the Shining and Nightmare on Elm st.) I’m watching it several times a day. Even the performance videos. 😵‍💫
I feel like once you get to listen you’ll see a difference between the two eps which makes me think that they’re “different sides” to their sound (like red velvet) where Billlage of Perception is more dark and experimental while Collective Soul is more light and dreamy. TCSaU is said to be a sort of prequel for their lore focusing on dreams (like Snowy Night!!) which raises a lot lot of questions lol. I will say I feel like all the members were able to shine this comeback and I’m very happy about that! Sheon fits right in as well, I can’t help but to love her along with the other members.
The second rapper that stood out to you is named Siyoon. That is a very cool young lady and a great dancer too at only 17! The whole group just oozes talent and charisma I had no choice but to become a fan.
Thank you and I hope you react to more Billlie in the future!
