I like the Metra blazer, don't love it. It's so easy to dress up or down depending on dress, jeans or pants and accessories . . . and so adaptable to many different knit fabrics. I like your blocking and the styling you've done, perfect with the dress. Thanks for bringing it to us.
Thanks so much Mary! 😊. Yeah, I agree - it's a great middle of the road jacket. Not something I would wear if I wanted to feel super fabulous - but totally fine for day to day outfits 😍
A very fun blazer in colors that are so pretty on you! I've found that some polyesters are not awful - even high-end clothing in the stores is sometimes made of a high-quality polyester or polyester in combination with other textiles to add durability or ease of care - probably about the quality of the fabric a lot of times. Looking forward to seeing how your length modification works out - I was always trying to cover up my backside (for 50 years!) and then discovered that sometimes a shorter length actually looked better, which was a real surprise! We can still be pleasantly surprised!
I think this blazer turned out amazing, Michelle! The color looks fabulous on you and with your other garments. I like the contrast between the colors - a nod to your enjoyment of bright colors!
You look so beautiful in that blazer. Both looks are fabulous. I have that pattern and even the fabric to make it😊so you have inspired me to get on with it❤
Great color & you look wonderful in it. I am more like Izzy with my color choices. My daughter looks great in bright colors. It was nice to be able to show her the same pattern for both.
Michelle, I love the way you styled your blazer with the Nova dress. Hard to tell that the length is too long, but it's all about how you like it. Beautiful colors! Well done!❤
Hi Michelle, I have made the Metra jacket three times in black, navy and red. It is a favourite for me and goes with so many things. I love the colour of yours, it really suits you and is so vibrant, I do agree about the side panels though.
Love this with the dress without shortening. It fits your shoulders which makes the silhouette very trim. I really did like the black and white horizontal stripe shirt with it. Yes to the dress though. Good job. And, yup, you did inspire me to take a second look. Color is great on you too. You hit a number of boxes today. Now to go see what Izzy did.
Wow. That looks good on you. I'm glad I am not the only one who struggles with instructions sometimes. I think it's cool that they had a link to do the pocket piece.❤
Wow, Michelle, that color looks fabulous on you. I have made one Metra blazer, have another cut out, and have fabric for a third one. I am retired and have few occasions to get dressed up, so I like the casual vibe of this pattern.
Hi Michelle, I really love your Metra Blazer!! I never thought of color blocking it, what a fun idea. The colors are great on you👍. It is a great addition to any wardrobe, especially for a semi-casual office setting. Thanks for sharing this great collaboration with Izzy (I love hers too🙌🏻🙌🏻). Karen
I really liked your review of this pattern, Michelle. This pattern has been on my “must make” list for quite a while. I agree with all your observations about the jacket. Your stylings were spot on and very flattering for you. I’d love to see any follow up you do with shortening and re-color blocking the pattern. I often too struggle with my need to wear longer and “cover up” and what sometimes seems like an accidental shorter length that might crop up that Surprise!….actually seems very flattering. Please post if you remake.
I've made this jacket once so far..I am 5'3" so have to agree that a shorter length is probably more flattering and at the original or shorter length I think i will find it more flattering with a one button closure.. that said.. I think this length still looks quite good on you 😊
It looks great especially with how you styled it. ❤🎉 I absolutely love that color!! I hope to get busy this spring and make up my metra blazer...just need to get some fabric. Thanks so much for all the info. and suggestions. Now to put fears aside and get sewing!!
The shoulder line on the blazer is great. As I try to fit my older body, I have realized that shoulder line makes a difference...either make it a real dropped shoulder or the actual.length of the shoulder...I've looked at the Metra for along time...my lifestyle doesn't call for another similar one (I have a Silverton fitted to me) I like your colorblocked side panels. What about adding two color.blocked viewers on the back lower hem (like on a mens double vent blazer) in neon orange to come out over your curve You've got side, pocket, and viewers make 3 features
Michelle, I am finishing up a Metra blazer right now and I agree with the instructions being tricky I watched the video for the pocket 3 x’s😢 but finally got it figured out 😊 . Yours looks great
Hello! I love the color of your blazer. I like how you styled it with the dress. The Metra Blazer is a TNT for me. It can be dressed up or down. It’s a lovely cross between a cardigan and a blazer.
This blazer hits the mark when it comes to looking more professional while retaining your wild and crazy style. I think it’s a winner for you and you should make another! Yes, try shortening it (I have the same bum problem and shortening is slimming). I liked your metro best with the dress. Overall, this is a brilliant solution for “professional” needs, a flattering second layer, and style. I don’t dislike your color blocking. It’s cool that it’s not the same as everyone else. Thanks for a great video.
I love your blazer with the dress! The colors are awesome. I've had the pattern since it was released and haven't sewn it yet. I need to get it done. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Michelle! I love your new Metra Blazer! I think that shortening it is a good idea for you, but it looks awesome as is ( especially with the dress. I have made two of them. One out of a performance nylon fabric and one out of summer weight ponte fabric from Joanns that is rayon not polyester. I love them both and I think you will love yours too!
Wow this looks great!❤ I agree with Mari! 2 inches shorter! I wouldn't have thought to color block but that's fun! I actually have this pattern planned this year! Thanks for the video tips! And love your closet!😍 Now I gotta watch Izzys!❤
Thanks so much - I have had my colors done and all of these are on my card. I don't really wear neutrals too much on my top - I tend to keep those to my bottoms. If I do make it again - I will definitely make it shorter though 😊.
I love Love your blazer and the way you colour blocked it. It is so you.. enjoy it....I haven't made it but, here in Canada I certainly could use it in Spring.. I am going to make the Heather blazer first and the Nova coat..
Oh I have the Heather Blazer on my short to do list - I think that will come in handy for the conference as well! I've made the Nova coat and it's still one of my favorite makes - just no need for it now that I'm in FL 😩. Have fun with your makes!!
Oh my goodness the color is awesome for you and I love how you styled it. Looks so great with the dress. I like it longer with the dress and maybe shorter with a tunic type top. I have not made this blazer but am now considering it. Great review and as always fun and your collab partner is so fun and your right a great teacher. Thanks so much for sharing this!
I love that grapefruit color! It's one of my favorites. The Metra is on my list but I haven't made it yet. I think yours looks great on you every way you've styled it. Those shaped lapels are very nice on you. Also, I *need* those sparkly black flats!!
This looks wonderful on you... colors are gorgeous n go with your other garments great !!! Shorting it would be good but I would lenghten it too... I don't like my tops hanging below my jacket... I hadn't thought of making it tunic or duster lenght till now... I have the pattern n it is on my to do list... thank you for sharing...
Fun blazer! This was a great collab. I also had the “aha” moment recently that I like things to hit just above my butt. I’ve spent years thinking I wanted them to cover it, but that just leads to all of the awkward bunching right at the top of the butt.
I don't know if it was an "aha" for me LOL - my natural inclination is to go longer! But I'm trying to listen to feedback and make adjustments - we'll see how I like it!!
Oh this dress is one of my Nova Midi dresses - I've made 4 of them - it's one of my favorite patterns! I wore them all quite often when I lived in Miami. I haven't worn them as much lately.
Looks amazing with the dress and the slacks. I agree with you on the colour blocking but glad you highlighted the side panels because it makes it easier to see what is going on with the pattern. Looks like a nice elevated but comfortable layering piece. I would love to see you in your next version with a comparison to this version and how you feel about the changes you make.
I loved the way you styled your blazer with the dress! It looks professional and allows your personal style to come through. I agree with you on shortening it when you wear it with a top and pants. I really enjoyed this collaboration.
Love the blazer on you; difficult to choose my preferences on the way you styled. Maybe the one with the striped shirt but I like it with the dress. I sound very "wishy-washy". hmmmm? Like both!
Good pattern review. Havent made any "indie" patterns. I love your colour combo. Agree that colour blocking collar lining would be more effective because of the way the blazer sits, hard to notice side panels. Great styled with dress and leggings. Im one of those who is more comfortable with a blazer that buttons up, so i dont think this would be a pattern I'd rver make.
Hello, Michelle! Wow! This blazer is absolute fire 😍 It looks amazing on you! I especially loved it with the dress, those two garments complimented each other so well! As always, your color choices were spot on! Thanks for sharing with us! Happy Sewing❤~Tiffany
I love your new Metra Blazer with the dress Michelle. As far as wearing it with a top and slacks, I would use a shorter top or do a partial tuck so it doesn’t cut you in half, giving you a 1/3 & 2/3 proportion. I have a bit of a tummy but when wearing layers I am not self conscious when doing a front tuck. I love the bright orange!
It looks great! I haven't made it, but I'm interested. I have seen Whitney from TomKat Stitchery wear hers and I think it's her favorite Love Notions pattern. I have made the Sloane Sweater from them and I do love the fit on that one. I have to say that sometimes when I finish a garment I have to put it to the side for a couple of days before I like it. I don't know why. Happy sewing!
I'll have to look the Sloane Sweater up - I am not familiar with it. I'm learning not to jump to judgement on my makes LOL! I have had a few now where I ended up liking them more after I spent the time styling out an outfit!! THanks so much for watching!!
The jacket looks so beautiful with your dress and also with your shirt. The color is awesome. I have many Love Notions patterns and I have made many of them and like them. But, I am not really a short jacket kind of girl, so I don't own the Metra Blazer pattern, I just don't think it's me. Saying that, I really think it looks great on you.
just as an aside, your hair and makeup are on point today! love seeing both yours and Izzy's metras. i made one when the pattern first came out but it did not work for me. the LN block doesn't fit me well at all, sadly. my fave outfit is with the dress. such a pretty combo!
That jacket is Eye Candy for sure 🧡. Absolutely love it with the dress, it looks fantastic on you Michelle. Great fun Collab, popping over now to see Izzy's. Thanks for such a great review xx
I love your blazer. The style and colors are You! I like it with the strped shirt and your Nova dress. Shortening it is a good idea. I have the pattern but haven't made it yet.
I absolutely love your Metra Michelle! I like it a lot with the dresses you have in your pictures and with the leggings and tops (that striped top is gorgeous!!). I agree with Mari on the length, but I think it does hit you in a good spot, especially when you wear it on top of dresses. Thank you so much for collaborating with me on this - I had a ball!! Xx 💞
I made it, and I struggled in the same places you did. I watched Lifting Pins and Needles for help with the pockets. I want to love it, but I just don't,
I saw that Karina had a sew along but I didn't want to watch all the easy parts just to get to what I needed. I wouldn't say I LOVE this jacket - but it is a good staple piece (for me) to have in my wardrobe. Especially for trips to the office. I'm sorry you don't love yours!
I love the blazer on you. I am a forever beginner I have purchased a couple love notions patterns but have not made them. I love a complete tutorial see along like Ellie and Mac do with their patterns.
I just realized I didn't mention that I made the Full Bust version!
I thought the same as Mari, shorter is better for you.
Cool color combo-fun!!❤
Thanks CJ!
Love your Metra you picked the right colour good suggestion from Mardi still love it alot😊😊😊
Thank you! 😊
That is your color! I love how it looks with your styling!
Thank you so much!
I think I want to make one now! I live in Florida & I think it's a perfect layering piece for the climate!@@MichelleSewsAgain
Love your new jacket and dress! You look great in them.
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your insights! I agree - I get surprised at how things look sometimes!
I think this blazer turned out amazing, Michelle! The color looks fabulous on you and with your other garments. I like the contrast between the colors - a nod to your enjoyment of bright colors!
Thanks so much Lorraine! It looks like you are a Draper. My mother was a Draper (have we had this discussion before? My memory is awful!)
The striped shirt and dress looks wonderful!
Thank you!
Looks great with the dress.go for the dress. It’s very becoming.
Thank you!
Love with your dress!
Thank you! It's the Style Arc Nova Midi and I've made four of them - such a great spring/summer dress!
You look so beautiful in that blazer. Both looks are fabulous. I have that pattern and even the fabric to make it😊so you have inspired me to get on with it❤
Thank you so much Jacqui! I hope you have fun with it :)
Great color & you look wonderful in it. I am more like Izzy with my color choices. My daughter looks great in bright colors. It was nice to be able to show her the same pattern for both.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I think most people prefer neutrals to lots of color - especially for layering pieces.
I think that jacket looks very nice on you.
Thank you so much!
Michelle, I love the way you styled your blazer with the Nova dress. Hard to tell that the length is too long, but it's all about how you like it. Beautiful colors! Well done!❤
Thanks so much Becky!

I like it! And it looks great on you!
Thank you so much 😊
I’m in love with your outfits you’ve put together! Your Metra is gorgeous on you. Great review.
Thank you so much!!
Wow. That looks good on you. I'm glad I am not the only one who struggles with instructions sometimes. I think it's cool that they had a link to do the pocket piece.❤
The "issue specific" videos are so helpful - I love that I don't have to wade through a lot of straight seam sewing!!
Wow, Michelle, that color looks fabulous on you. I have made one Metra blazer, have another cut out, and have fabric for a third one. I am retired and have few occasions to get dressed up, so I like the casual vibe of this pattern.
Wow - you really do like it! I'm not sure I need that many - but maybe ONE more? 😊 Thanks!!
Karen
Thanks so much Karen!
Who knew you have to shorten something! I think you are right. It will look great a bit shorter.
I usually have to shorten everything - except the length of a top LOL. This is my exception 🤣
I really liked your review of this pattern, Michelle. This pattern has been on my “must make” list for quite a while. I agree with all your observations about the jacket. Thank you so much! I will definitely post comparisons when I make another with the changes mentioned!
Looks nice! I like it with shirts not longer than jacket. I would like it better not color blocked.
That's what makes the world go round - I love how we're all different! A solid blazer just wouldn't suit my style💕
I've made this jacket once so far..I am 5'3" so have to agree that a shorter length is probably more flattering and at the original or shorter length I think i will find it more flattering with a one button closure.. that said.. I think this length still looks quite good on you 😊
Thank you so much Michelle - I'll be sure to share if I maake it again and shorten it!
Your Metra looks amazing and so do you! Love the ways you have styled it! Have the pattern-now to make it up!!
Thanks Debbie! I hope you enjoy it 😊
I just feel that it would look better with some small shoulder pads. Great color: looks so nice on you!
Oh wow - I haven't worn shoulder pads since the 80's! Are they coming back?!?! Thanks so much Lynn!!
It looks great especially with how you styled it. ❤🎉 I absolutely love that color!! I hope to get busy this spring and make up my metra blazer...just need to get some fabric. Thanks so much for all the info. and suggestions. Now to put fears aside and get sewing!!
Thanks so much Deb! No need to be afraid - the sewalong videos from Love Notions make it pretty easy 😀
The shoulder line on the blazer is great. As I try to fit my older body, I have realized that shoulder line makes a difference...either make it a real dropped shoulder or the actual.length of the shoulder...I've looked at the Metra for along time...my lifestyle doesn't call for another similar one (I have a Silverton fitted to me)
I like your colorblocked side panels.
What about adding two color.blocked viewers on the back lower hem (like on a mens double vent blazer) in neon orange to come out over your curve
You've got side, pocket, and viewers make 3 features
I'll have to do some research to understand what. "viewer" is - that's a new term for me! Thanks so much for the recommendation 😊
"Viewer" is what autocorrect thinks back gusset "vents" are when you type on a tablet and don't proof read before hitting post

Thanks so much Barbara! I appreciate all the feedback! You know I struggle with making things shorter LOL! But I'm open minded!!
I love your blazer with the dress! The colors are awesome. I've had the pattern since it was released and haven't sewn it yet. I need to get it done. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I enjoyed sewing it and have a new found love of Ponte LOL. I hope you enjoy it if you make it!!
I'll have to see if I can find that rayon ponte - it sounds nice! Thanks so much for watching Mary!
Wow this looks great!❤ I agree with Mari! 2 inches shorter!
I wouldn't have thought to color block but that's fun!
I actually have this pattern planned this year! Thanks for the video tips! And love your closet!😍
Now I gotta watch Izzys!❤
Thanks April! I think you'll have fun sewing it - it's a great layering piece!
The jacket would look good shorter. Also if you’ve had your colors done, pick a basics color from your season and make it in one solid color.
Thank you so much Kathleen! If you make it - please let me know how you like it!
Its very flattering! I agree with shortening it and not color blocking the side panels, but I wouldn’t have thought of that on my own!
Thanks so much Cheri!!
Sooo cute! Love how you look in that color. Both stylings are great, with the dress 😍🤩❣
Thank you so much!!
I love that grapefruit color! It's one of my favorites. The Metra is on my list but I haven't made it yet. I think yours looks great on you every way you've styled it. Those shaped lapels are very nice on you. Also, I *need* those sparkly black flats!!
The shoes are actually a dark navy - so fun, right?!?! Thanks so much for watching Debbie!
Thanks so much Cindy!
That color is amazeballs on you, Michelle! The color-blocking is super-fun, too! 💗
Thanks Andra!
I love how you styled your jacket. The dress is gorgeous, I don’t remember seeing it before today.
That's a great idea for a video - thanks so much for the feedback!! 💕
Michelle, your jacket looks like it was made to be worn with your dress. You look great in it.❤
Thank you so much Maureen! 😀
I loved the way you styled your blazer with the dress! It looks professional and allows your personal style to come through. I agree with you on shortening it when you wear it with a top and pants. I really enjoyed this collaboration.
Thank you so much!!
Love the blazer on you; difficult to choose my preferences on the way you styled. Maybe the one with the striped shirt but I like it with the dress. I sound very "wishy-washy". hmmmm? Like both!
Thanks! I like both as well - more ways to wear it!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching 😊
I like your blazer and I’m happy it’s grown on you. Those loafer tho! 😍
I know - aren't they amazing?!?! 🤩
Hello, Michelle! Wow! This blazer is absolute fire 😍 It looks amazing on you! I especially loved it with the dress, those two garments complimented each other so well! As always, your color choices were spot on! Thanks for sharing with us! Happy Sewing❤~Tiffany
Thanks so much Tiffany! You are so sweet 💕
Thanks so much for the feedback Donna! I am very unlikely to ever do a tuck of any kind - but I truly appreciate your point of view 💕
Fabulous jacket. You look fab.
I agree with Mari - shorten the jacket.
Thanks Agata!
Love the jacket and absolutely love it with the dress
Thank you so much!
I love it on you with the striped top and the dress!
Thank you Carmen!! 💕
Thanks so much Carol! I firmly believe that there is no "universal" style that everyone will love - so I get it! I appreciate you watching anyway 😊
Michelle, your Metra Blazer is so beautiful! That color on you is so gorgeous!❤
Thank you sweet Trish 😊💕
This is my favourite Metra ever. The colours are amazing.
just as an aside, your hair and makeup are on point today! love seeing both yours and Izzy's metras. i made one when the pattern first came out but it did not work for me. the LN block doesn't fit me well at all, sadly. my fave outfit is with the dress. such a pretty combo!
Thanks Sara! It's a lot of work to find a block that works. I'm not sure I've found "the one" yet LOL!!
That jacket is Eye Candy for sure 🧡. Absolutely love it with the dress, it looks fantastic on you Michelle. Great fun Collab, popping over now to see Izzy's. Thanks for such a great review xx
Thanks Carole 💕
I love your blazer. The style and colors are You! I like it with the strped shirt and your Nova dress. Shortening it is a good idea. I have the pattern but haven't made it yet.
It's a good pattern - I think you'll enjoy it!
Xx 💞
Thanks so much Izzy! This was fun and I ended up liking the jacket so much more than I even expected!
I made it, and I struggled in the same places you did. I watched Lifting Pins and Needles for help with the pockets. I want to love it, but I just don't,

I love the blazer on you. I am a forever beginner I have purchased a couple love notions patterns but have not made them. I love a complete tutorial see along like Ellie and Mac do with their patterns.
There are a few TH-camrs that have done complete sew alongs of this pattern - just do a quick search and you'll see a few pop up 😊
