His vocal range and growl that most people think is forced is not. Hear him growl and then hit the notes clean and clear. I would dare to say he is easily the top 20 vocalists of our time

I say, he is number ONE on my list. He is TOP NOTCH and other singers would have a hard time and no comparison to David Draiman.

I think it sometimes gets lost the absolute control of that distortion. He just flips the switch on it multiple times in the middle of phrases during this song and it's absolutely amazing!

This rendition makes you listen to every word of the ingenius lyrics. David's voice is like there is both an angel and a demon inside him. His voice is super controlled and rich with vibrant tones and guttural growls, but it is also the visuals that make the video as compelling as it is. Even the lighting tells a story. It is now one of my favorite songs and, the more I hear it, the more depth I get out of it.

@@KB3M In my opinion,, both this studio version and the version they performed on Conan's show run neck and neck. I liked the Simon and Garfunkel version but that was mainly because I liked S&G's harmonies more than the lyrics and I never understood the lyrics until after I heard David Draiman sing it.
As a man in my 60's I wouldn't have known or heard any of Disturbed's music but after hearing this version it soon became my all-time favorite song. After I die, I want this song played at my funeral.

I'm 65, and I remember when the original was released. I like the comparison that Killawasp made, but when you whisper a warning like Simon & Garfunkel did in 1965, sometimes you need it shouted at you, (David Drainman-Disturbed) just so you understand.
I always thought this was a nice song, but sometimes, a song speaks to someone and says, "Sing me the way I was meant to be sang", and I think this is what happened with David. (Angelina Jordan does this with nearly all her songs).
Anyway, excellent reaction, and Disturbed's version will forever hold a place in my music playlist.

The beautiful thing about metal is that it has so many sub genres now in its 45+ year history that it can appeal to so many more people today than it could say back in its 80s and 90s stylings. But one thing you can attribute to metal is this. All metal is is a mixture of Blues and Classical Music with modern instruments and just slightly more aggressive lyrics and/or vocals. Just listen to any metal song, including this one, and you'll hear the Blues influence in it. The Classical Music influence comes with the Instrumentation. Even some of the heaviest and extreme metal has a bit of that, but any thing under that with lead guitar solos, melodic rhythm guitar riffs (involving more than a simple 2 or 3 note chord), and even acoustic guitar parts, that comes from Classical Music from the Baroque Period era and others. It's just electrified with added distortion. But in any case, metal music always does one thing best...invoke emotions. Whether it's anger, depression, love, or just plain excitement , there's something there for everybody. There's more female fans of metal today than there was in the 90s. I don't count the 80s here with all the female groupe fans of the hair metal bands. Those weren't real metal fans, they just wanted to bang a hot rock star.

I heard it first when Simon and Garfunkel brought it out and thought it was a perfect piece of music. Disturbed has managed to improve on perfection.

Gitana, I loved your reaction. Really expressive. You are great at reacting. Suggestion: get headphones! you are listening to 75% of the music. Over the ear headphones should help you on every reaction.
Please start reacting to Angelina Jordan's songs. Prepare to be amaze. Her base of fans is super strong and they will come to see your reactions.
Angelina is amazing. She sings barefoot because when she was traveling through a poor country when she saw a little girl like her without shoes and she gave her the ones she was wearing. She won't wear shoes when she sings until all children have shoes. She even wrote a book about it.
This is the list, in order, of all her songs (Rusty Shackleford's List): th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html
    My favorites are:

I'M STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU (amazing, mind blowing) th-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/w-d-xo.html
I HAVE NOTHING (the Whitney Houston song) th-cam.com/video/eTcvvO6B3Io/w-d-xo.html

@@GitanaAdelle Lady? that's so funny. She is 14 years old right now. And people like me loves seeing the face of somebody reacting to her, expecting to listen the voice of a child, and then Angelina starts singing and every person reacting for the first time get a mental shock that we love to see. All the songs on the list were sang by her between 7 and 13 years old. Check for a good range (specification). From 8 hz to 28,000 hz will be nice. Is pricey but you can listen to every low or high sounds. (20 to 20,000 is the standard and I would never use one).

"Im not a metal fan", i think you should try it more. Sure, there are some bands/types of metal that are too heavy especially for beginner, but im sure that you'll find some that will suit you. Im sure you'll have a lot of suggestions on to what you should listen next, but let me know if you need some guidance in this territory.

Great reaction, in a world of negativity it is so important that charismatic people such as yourself, that have a positive outlook on life, have an understanding of just how empowering it is to have you. To be a gitano means that no matter what happens we have a family to lean on. Thankyou.

This was an impressive song as performed by Simon & Garfunkel back in the '60s when I first heard it. Am a fan of Disturbed, love thier music and their covers of Gensis' "Land of Confusion" and Tears for Fears "Shout" (called Shout 2000), when i heard this it was what did I just hear?

Rarely do I say a cover is better than an original but this I must agree is one of the rare exceptions. The tension in the vocals drill the listener making us feel it,, and realize that without music there is only silence to take its place. Simon and Garfunkel came up with some great lyrics and it took decades for Disturb'd to offer up the epic style and presentation the lyrics deserved.

I am a major Simon & Garfunkle fan, and "Sound Of Silence" is one my favorite songs y them. That being said I too really like this version. His voice and his passion really sells it. To me this has always been the ultimate protest song and we need now more than ever.

I think it's fine to think a cover is better than the original. In the end id the original had never been written we would have missed out on this one! So thank you Paul Simon for writing the music/lyrics for such an awesome song and to Disturbed thank you for bringing out in your vocals and tempo something that matches the feeling the lyrics tell
