His vocal range and growl that most people think is forced is not. Hear him growl and then hit the notes clean and clear. I would dare to say he is easily the top 20 vocalists of our time

David Draiman is a beast! Love this version!!! The a capella group Pentatonix did a version recently that is different, but just as good. If you like country, you should also check out Johnny Cash doing Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" - it's extraordinary! Thanks for this! I love when people open themselves to new music :-) Another one you would probably enjoy that's harder than most of what I listen to is Five Finger Death Punch "Wrong Side of Heaven" - have hankies!!!
This rendition makes you listen to every word of the ingenius lyrics. David's voice is like there is both an angel and a demon inside him. His voice is super controlled and rich with vibrant tones and guttural growls, but it is also the visuals that make the video as compelling as it is. Even the lighting tells a story. It is now one of my favorite songs and, the more I hear it, the more depth I get out of it.
I'm 73 and grew up with the original song. It was soooo beautiful. I think I missed the message altogether because it WAS so beautiful. I heard this on the TV show, "The Blacklist." I immediately had to find out who was singing it and the message was very, very clear this time around. David and Disturbed have put out the best cover ever. Forever and ever, amen.
This song is a perfect example of the power and control that David has with his voice, the rise and fall and cadence he has. He has so much power in his voice, and knows well how to use it, yet he never pushes his voice to it's full potential and keeps some back, and you know he has that little bit extra to give, but he keeps you wanting more.
I'm a man who is very connected with my emotions so when I heard disturbed's version on Conan I cried at how emotionally beautiful it was. I felt all the power, all the warmth, all the rage, and the sadness.
Your reaction was awesome, I just loved watching your eyes and face. I could tell that you were freaking out like WOW!! also I want to thank you for listening to the whole song before commenting, it truly means a lot to all of us! There’s so many people out there that are reacting to this cover and keep stopping the music every 10 seconds to say things and I’m sorry but that’s really annoying! Thanks again ❤❤❤❤
@@KB3M In my opinion,, both this studio version and the version they performed on Conan's show run neck and neck. I liked the Simon and Garfunkel version but that was mainly because I liked S&G's harmonies more than the lyrics and I never understood the lyrics until after I heard David Draiman sing it. As a man in my 60's I wouldn't have known or heard any of Disturbed's music but after hearing this version it soon became my all-time favorite song. After I die, I want this song played at my funeral.
David draiman wasn't happy with the live version though as they autotuned him without his permission because he was sick and they didn't think he would be able to perform it very well
Thank you for not stopping the video every like three lines or every verse like everyone else. It kills the momentum of this beautiful cover of the song and ruins the vibe when you first listen to it.
This song has been around since the 60s. That's how we felt when protesting against the government. Now keep this rage in mind. Silence like a cancer grows. Power to the people.
I’ve loved this song since first hearing it as a child in the early 70’s, I’ve searched ever since to find someone who could sing with the power that Paul Simons words deserved; at last (in ‘Disturbed’s’ version) my search has ended!!!
Unfortunately it's not perfect, they used autotune on David's voice because he was sick at the time. It was against his will so he was furious after the performance.
Although the Conan video is excellent I have to disagree. The music video is much better than Conan bc any autotuning was most likely to sync with the accompaniment. The Conan special he was ill (sang better than 99+% of people in general; let alone with the flu). When I listened to the Conan special the 2nd or 3rd time through I could hear why they used autotune; David was sick enough to not be getting enough air into his lungs to belt out the way he can when healthy. Simply put he sounded like he was hiding being very out of breath.
I'm an old man. I had my youngest son bring this band and their version of this song to me. Since that had happened we have seen these guys 4 times. We have tickets to see them again when all this crap is over with.

This is the first comment I’ve seen where anyone has said anything about any songs on their evolution album. I absolutely loved the whole thing but for some reason it doesn’t seem to get any recognition despite how many of the songs have such great messages and meanings behind them
friend of mine did a pornographic remake of hurt, called "squirt". pretty funny shit. you can almost figure out how it goes by the original lyrics because a shockingly high percentage of the words aren't even changed.
Yep, but its Wacken, not Wakan. And since we mentioning Nightwish, the lead singer of that band went on a Dutch singign show, where someone else Sang this exact same song ( Sound of Silence) for that lead singer as well. Also a good option to react to, to see how she feels that one compares.

His vocal coach is Melissa Cross, who teaches sooooo many lead singers and bands here in the states and around the world. David Draiman is a MASTER in his vocal techniques and uses them FLAWLESSLY !!! Probably why I've seen them 7 times in concert.
I think perhaps it is generational, those that grow up with this song like myself favor the original, not because we think that it is better, but out of respect for the composition it self. Those were turbulent times,a very unpopular war, civil unrest, there were 4 political assassination in 5 years, songs like this expressed the uncertainty and a searching for answers.

I'm 65, and I remember when the original was released. I like the comparison that Killawasp made, but when you whisper a warning like Simon & Garfunkel did in 1965, sometimes you need it shouted at you, (David Drainman-Disturbed) just so you understand. I always thought this was a nice song, but sometimes, a song speaks to someone and says, "Sing me the way I was meant to be sang", and I think this is what happened with David. (Angelina Jordan does this with nearly all her songs). Anyway, excellent reaction, and Disturbed's version will forever hold a place in my music playlist.
I agree... This version encapsulates what the proper emotion to the lyrics being sung. I wouldn't bet against Simon & Garfunkel agreeing that the tone, power and passion of this rendition is a perfect marriage. Disturbed nailed it...
Yup. This song is the gold standard for covers. The original was nice. This one reaches in and grabs you. Hearing a message in music is nice. Feeling it - that's on a whole new level.
I am so glad you had no need to be verbose. Watching your heartfelt reaction said so much more than words! Thank you! David actually sits when performing this live. He loses nothing of the power in his voice and is still able to reach at least 4 octaves! I love the last few lines of the song (between halls & whispered) where his voice goes from a growl back to normal mid-sentence. Listen for it. That is control!
David is a very POWERFUL vocalist. One of my favorites personally. A lot of songs he's done is very emotion driven like that. If you'd like to see that side more check out "Uninvited guest." By disturbed. Great song and just as emotionally driven

Right? Strip out the happy sound S&G used & add modern Gen X angst, and here we are. Perfection.

The original by Simon & Garfunkel was the warning.
The Disturbed version was the rage and anger that the warning was not heeded.

I'm glad that you check this song out. Yes, epic version, indeed! You were pleasantly surprised. It's a really powerful video and performance. Great reaction!!
So glad u did this song! Who would have thought the singer from disturbed could sing like this! Mind blown
jar22heed I know !! It’s insane ! ... I love that I get to share my first reaction with you all 💓
Sound of Silence sung by Simon and Garfunkel was my wife's favorite song. We were married for 33 years, she passed away 19 year ago.
Charles Wendt god bless ... I am so sorry for your loss . 💓 I can’t imagine it ever gets easier listening to the song
@@GitanaAdelle funny how music and odors can bring back memories.
Have a restful evening.
Sorry for your loss.
The great triology for youtube reactions.
Disturbed - Sound of silence.
Chris Stapleton - Tennessee Whisky.
Jinjer - Pisces.
Unless she gets talked into reacting to tool, then it's a tool channel
Du Hast, live from Paris - Rammstein
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score. There are a LOT of great videos to react to
Dude you forgot Bismarck by sabaton or ghost division live at woodstock by sabaton
They have an enormous list of songs with the most deep meaningfull lyrics in the music industry.
Shinedown's cover of Simple Man.
Johnny Cash doing Hurt.
Johnny Cash Hurt...
Shinedown's Simple is killer as a cover, but not like this
@@tedheinle8105 nothing and no one will ever replace Ronnie and his voice.
Gitana, it was fantastic to watch your physical reactions to the song because they mirrored my emotional reactions that I have every time I listen to this cover. Definitely following!
Fun Fact: When David was finished recording this song, he sat in the Booth and listened to it for three hours.
Thank you for listening all the way through without stopping it many times. Excellent reaction video.
Thank you so much !! Nice to meet you and I hope you stick around . I will always try to not interrupt a song in full flight as it can ruin it x
I wish you’d watch their live performance on Conan. To me, it’s even more amazing. Give it a try.
The lead singer of Disturbed has been classically trained! He's amazing!
Try Disturbed's "Hold on to Memories " also "The Light."
Hold onto Memories 😍
For sure "Hold on to Memories"
This is the first comment I’ve seen where anyone has said anything about any songs on their evolution album. I absolutely loved the whole thing but for some reason it doesn’t seem to get any recognition despite how many of the songs have such great messages and meanings behind them
I heard it first when Simon and Garfunkel brought it out and thought it was a perfect piece of music. Disturbed has managed to improve on perfection.
How about Home Free they are A cappala group Man of Constant Sorrow, is a good one to start
David Draimen can force so much emotion into his voice. Have loved the band for years.
Have you listened to Johnny Cashs’ version of Hurt ?
Tears.
That is one of the hardest songs to listen to. It punches a hole deep inside me.
friend of mine did a pornographic remake of hurt, called "squirt". pretty funny shit. you can almost figure out how it goes by the original lyrics because a shockingly high percentage of the words aren't even changed.
You did an amazing job for a reaction! Thank you for not pausing... you actually were perfect! This song deserves so much respect....:)
Delta P thank you so much !! I really loved making this video and I really love the song . I appreciate your feed back 💓 stay safe
You should try Nightwish. I think you will love them. Try Ghost Love Score live at Wakan Thanks
A few others from the Wacken 2013 concert: Song of Myself, Romanticide, Storytime.
and here ist the link: th-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/w-d-xo.html
I guarantee if you do Nightwish an army will flock to see the reaction.
@@xdavidgoliathx5890 Agree 100% !! You will not regret. Amazing band.
The first word after every reaction to this song : WOW! Yup.
You are delightful! And I agree.. it is waaaaaay better than the original.
susan-jillian smith thank you so much ! I really appreciate that ! I will have a video up today . This version blew my mind tho .. I hope you stick around and subscribe. Stay safe!! 💓💓
I cried the first time I heard this song and I am not an emotional person (take my word for it) its an amazing roller coaster ride of pure emotions that were brought from deep inside me I felt totally vulnerable. The music, voice, and song all come together and made it into a brilliant masterpiece of perfection.
Next Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013 and army will come.
Agreed.
Yes. Yes we will and it will be beautiful.
I am late to the party, but I just wanted to say how much I love your channel. You are so open and honest, and just happy to roll with it.
Please keep up the good work and know you are making the world a better place.
Brantley Gilbert - What Happens in a Small Town.
Rascal Flatts - Skin.
Thomas Rhett - Look What God Gave Her.
Justin Moore - If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away
Kane Brown - Homesick
FGL - Holy
Thank you for the songs I hope you enjoy my Chanel . I appreciate it
Brooks and Dunn - My Maria
Soooooo many supremely talented musicians in the metal genre.
Get yourself a good set of headphones and listen again. It’s a totally different experience
Oh, I just luvvv your reactions to the video. I'm glad that you were able to get around to reacting to it, because many have gone before and have also given their own incredible reactions. Welcome to the club, so to speak.
You should check out cover to cranberrys- zombie. By badwolves. They kill it
jar22heed thank you I will 💓
jar22heed I agree, honestly such a stunning cover.
have u heard the metal version cover by leo & stine moracchioli?
The story goes they contacted her and she loved it after hearing it. On the way to them to do the video she died. All proceeds for the song went to her children. Class act.
I’m glad you liked this, I have listened to this several times and every time I hear it I get more out of it , EMOTIONS and something to think about, what the words SAY is amazing, NEON GODS WE MADE =TV personalities
Glad to see you opening your mind to art in every form... 🤘😉🤘. T
I am indeed trying . I like to think I’m open to almost anything . Thank you ☺️ 👍
His vocal coach is Melissa Cross, who teaches sooooo many lead singers and bands here in the states and around the world. David Draiman is a MASTER in his vocal techniques and uses them FLAWLESSLY !!! Probably why I've seen them 7 times in concert.
Your opinion is far from unpopular by the way everyone in the world loves that version way more
Actually, it's not better, it's awesome and fits this time perfectly. Just like the original fit the time perfectly when it was released!
How exactly did you conduct your poll to get results saying "everyone in the world" loves this version more?
I think perhaps it is generational, those that grow up with this song like myself favor the original, not because we think that it is better, but out of respect for the composition it self. Those were turbulent times,a very unpopular war, civil unrest, there were 4 political assassination in 5 years, songs like this expressed the uncertainty and a searching for answers.
The gritty voice is what he sings with most often as Disturbed is a heavier type of band. But thank you so much for keeping an open mind!!!
Love your reaction, this song makes everyone one tear up 😂 It's a powerful song with a powerful voice
Robert Pacheco thank you so much !
If you fail to have tingles going up and down your spine, you’re not human
"Im not a metal fan", i think you should try it more. Sure, there are some bands/types of metal that are too heavy especially for beginner, but im sure that you'll find some that will suit you. Im sure you'll have a lot of suggestions on to what you should listen next, but let me know if you need some guidance in this territory.
I've always loved the original by Simon and Garfunkel, but I get chills every time I hear this version.
I think you’d enjoy The drug in me is reimagined by Falling in Reverse! It’s amazing!!
I am so glad you did, too! So wonnnderful that you listen attentively throughout and comment after...Good Work!!
Try from Disturbed these songs
Hold on to memories
A reason to fight
Probably in my top 3 covers of all time. Metal lead singers rarely get the credit they deserve for their ability to actually sing.
Gitana, I loved your reaction. Really expressive. You are great at reacting. Suggestion: get headphones! you are listening to 75% of the music. Over the ear headphones should help you on every reaction.
Please start reacting to Angelina Jordan's songs. Prepare to be amaze. Her base of fans is super strong and they will come to see your reactions.
Angelina is amazing. She sings barefoot because when she was traveling through a poor country when she saw a little girl like her without shoes and she gave her the ones she was wearing. She won't wear shoes when she sings until all children have shoes. She even wrote a book about it.
This is the list, in order, of all her songs (Rusty Shackleford's List): th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html

Fernando F. Oh wow thank you so much ! I’m actually waiting to buy some things to record with .. I will for certain check this lady out she sounds phenomenal. Please subscribe and become part of my little family . Stay safe 💓
@@GitanaAdelle Lady? that's so funny. She is 14 years old right now. And people like me loves seeing the face of somebody reacting to her, expecting to listen the voice of a child, and then Angelina starts singing and every person reacting for the first time get a mental shock that we love to see. All the songs on the list were sang by her between 7 and 13 years old. Check for a good range (specification). From 8 hz to 28,000 hz will be nice. Is pricey but you can listen to every low or high sounds. (20 to 20,000 is the standard and I would never use one).
“He means every word!” - Sums it up 150%
Ok, here are some recommendations for you, Shinedown - Simple Man and Monsters and Home Free - Man of constant sorrow and End of the road, (boys to men cover)
Finally got to see them do this live in person last year. If you ever get a chance, DO IT!!!
Please react to disturbed down with the sickness
Geomanx I sure will add to my list thank you!
David has a very very VERY powerful voice!! as I'm sure you can tell.. he is very vocally talented
"Q" broke the silence and is waking up the world!!!
WWG1WGA
I liked how you were just about to say, you like the original better. Then your face changed, you felt the song, in the presence and power he was putting into it! And I could tell right then and there by the look in your face that by the end of the song you were going to totally love this version better! Awesome reaction, thank you!
K m how amazing and lovely are you ☺️❤️ thank you for that great feedback ! I’m so glad you enjoyed it . And you where totally right in your description of it . I can’t remember who has subscribed so forgive me of you have already . If not please go hit subscribe. I love the little community we’re building here x
Well Gitana, I'm certainly glad you got to hear&react to this...I think we heard a once in a generation voice in David Draiman.
Voice of an Angel years of training himself to sing like that. Paul must be very proud of this song it's been given a whole new life :-)
What Paul Simon said about this was the original was a warning, this version is the rage that the warning wasn't heeded
