Hello, sir Good day. It's really remarkable art which you are displaying to the world, you are really an asset for the new generation. Your talent must be transferred to the successors. Iam waving my hands and lifting my heels to be noticed. Kindly guide, how to move forward in this path.
@@TheLangfords ha! Yep, if you only saw the reams of ‘first attempts’ I produce in the making of a video 😂 I’d say that the horizontal line is a bit below the centre and the perspective/angle of the cylinder doesn’t really show what’s going on much below half-way down. A different angle might’ve been more revealing - but then we’d miss detail elsewhere I suppose 🤷♂️
You start by drawing a 3d box but do you not use the perspective before hand? I finished art academy without a substantial understanding of perspective, which is essential to understand planes when drawing - hence correct shading is an issue. Do you happen to know any sources that would explain perspective to a medium level viewer?
Sorry to hear you didn’t learn this at art Academy. Here’s my playlist of thirtysomething videos. The first one (i.e. the earliest) teaches perspective. I think the next one looks at drawing circles and cylinders in perspective. Hope this helps.... Product/Industrial Design Sketching Tutorials th-cam.com/play/PLUmGIca4HGqZKHiBZtL_zHjh2HBoBNerA.html
The horizontal line is a little below the middle. The angle/perspective of the cylinder isn't great for seeing the lower half of the shape. It's in the correct place (it's been constructed in the correct place, as you can see), it's just not that visible in the angle that I've drawn it.
Fkirstly, a good totorial. I share your videos with my students. However, please be careful as your perspective view, the cut out section, does not match the orthographic side view.
Thanks for your support. I’d argue it does match though. I’d say that the horizontal line is a bit below the centre and the perspective/angle of the cylinder doesn’t really show what’s going on much below half-way down. You brought me back to being passionate about sketching and industrial design.
These weekly post are really inspirational.
Thanks again
Happy to hear that! It's great to be able to help! Thank you so much!
I love the process. Does not require anything else. Just imagination and cubes. PERFECT
True for all sketching!

Going by the 2d side-view, shouldn't that middle "bite" only come half-way down the cylinder?
Thanks for the positive feedback 😂
It is :)! Love the positiv feedback around here ;P
@@productdesignermaker It was more a sanity check - I'm used to my final results not looking the same as yours, but I was waaay off this time!

Great job. That's not work anymore. It's art.
Thank you!
Which paper are you using
Hi, it’s written in the description below.
Based on the 2D, isn't the lowest point of the curve supposed to sit on the middle-half of the cylinder and not the bottom of the cylinder?
The horizontal line is a little below the middle. The angle/perspective of the cylinder isn't great for seeing the lower half of the shape. It's in the correct place (it's been constructed in the correct place, as you can see), it's just not that visible in the angle that I've drawn it.
