      When I worked as a telco technician my Afrikaaner workmate said "a man with a tidy van does no work"
      Not sure if it's true. I'm a carpenter now, and I have a basic false floor and four big drawers. It works. I'm not very organised so I just split the chaos into 4 categories and find stuff in a quarter of the time. Plus when the drawers are closed it looks like fück all in the van.

    Both vans are outfitted for the type of work each of you guys do. Kameron seems like he does more general contractor work, so needs a more wide range of tools. I know it’s not hard to do, but the two of ya’s make us American carpenters look like chaotic , disorganized slobs. Definitely set the bar for what I will look to do with my work vehicle. @@krazzygranny7032 yeah that´s one experience any trades-person can relate to although I still think if one can not find one´s right tool for the job under an hour one has to improve one´s organization. :) the organization of tools is really personal too, some folks take it to high art, others are more chaotic with it, I guess it´s a matter of taste, personality and effectiveness, although clients may make their judgements purely based on what they can see at times.

  • @ibrazeau3044

    I vote for Scott's setup because of its simplicity! Would be a better setup for me overall. Cameron's setup resembles what we have here in Canada for most tradies. Getting in and out of the van and tight working quarters becomes old real fast. Add the fact that I am 6'2" and bending forward in the vans is common for me and a definite peeve of mine. Scott's setup is mostly accessible from the ground making it a novelty. The setup seems more intuitive. Not sure it would work well in the winter time but I like how everything is accessible directly off the ground. Plus the timber sheets are set flat leaving them nice and dry and easily pulled. Both are great but I lean towards the green striped van ;)
    Festool Festool Festool... wow, lots of dinero in that van... would be worried riding around with over $50k in tools in the back of my van! For my sake, I prefer Makita, DEWALT and Milwaukee tools. Their price points and usefulness are just right for me. The Grey/Green color scheme is too attractive for the 5 finger reduction types. Not sure Festool really isn't much more then a hype... then again, they are too rich for me and I think cordless tools and their batteries have a defined life span that makes investing top dollars less worth it. But by God, what a bit of kit Cameron has... and both are soooo organized too. Good job to you both!

      I wouldn't buy any of the cordless stuff for reasons you have mentioned but the corded stuff is great. Whether it is worth the difference in price between dewalt etc depends on the type of work you are doing and personal preference but the festool plunge and chop saws are 2 of the best tools I have ever used (they should be for the price)

      Well.. working for 10y, I assure you I saved money with my Hilti, Festool and Mafell, When my mates are burning 3 dewalt tools, mine are still working flawless. Not to mention the aftersell service and longtime remplacement parts.

    • @artconnolly9519
      @artconnolly9519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My rule of thumb is I want cordless if I use all the time. And corded when it's a special tooling hardly use. That way I still have it when inevitably the battery tech changes

    • @ibrazeau3044
      @ibrazeau3044 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Art Connolly I used to think this way as well but now all my daily tools are cordless and I've kept most of my corded for home use... to be honest, I still use all my cordless at home as well. I now hate extension cords and having to find plugs. Cordless is so much easier and efficient. It's like evolving from a tool case to a tool belt. So much more efficient. Either way, none of my tools (Milwaukee) have crapped on me yet. Been 5 yrs now and they are still going strong. I see no purpose to go to Festool at this moment but ai am sure I'll get the bug at some point. I've bought a few Hilti tools and yes they are the bomb. Their choice isn't that great yet for my liking though. Milwaukee, IMO has the best choice overall for now. Can't go wrong in any of these brands.

Scott's however has the advantage of the large flat area, which might even sleep a person or two, which could be an appreciated dual use scenario. In both cases clearly a lot of thought went into the fit outs. Both are very impressive.
