Killed the alternator in the first proper muddy hole I drove through in my new V8 Troopy, about 2 weeks after I got it, so I feel your pain, took it out and got it working again with a WD40 refurb but I have constant anxiety about it now, and changing it again - pig of a job!

@@radaraacf ??? Better cooling is one of them. Also on the vdj the alternator sits low and mud compromises them which is the main reason they fail prematurely. If you want yours to be a road princess I wouldn't bother with the water cooled but if you do a lot of 4WD then I can justify that.

Hey Ronny just on the v8 alternator mud thing. We have run a fleet of 2.8 Hilux’s at my work for about 5 years now. Plenty of mud and water driving due to the scope of work. We’ve found the 2.8s reliably have starter motors fail around the 100,000km mark. Behaves like a low/flat battery. Other than that, they’ve handled the tough love quite well

Of course it is. The sheep follow the Shepard. The entire series is farce - the worst of all are comments like "Peak outputs are only 1kW less than the V8 diesel but 70Nm more torque." - you know what? 1.6 litre 4 cylinders were producing 1,000HP in F1 in the 80's... look at how long they lasted durability wise. Just like direct injection all this faff is done to appease the vocal minority - the sad thing is the majority always ends up being NPC's following the Shepard because 'it's cool'

Going nuts deciding weather to get a better looking bullbar without all the hoops or get the protection.

It’s safe to say the V8 is far better from a noise/sound perspective. But the 2.8 absolutely dominates it in every other domain.
People can bitch and moan how it’s more highly strung but go online, there at 2.8ls doing 300-400,000kms without any major issues. Proven. Reliable. Safe.

Bull bar look aesthetically integrated with the design of the 76 and it is a move on from “roll cages”

I won't argue that the Bar looks alright, but I would prefer to find something that covers the front end a bit better. With the new vehicles now a days you never know what will cripple it and not let it move from the most simplest things!!
With that said I am going to want your opinion on the CrashPad Sleep System. I just tried mine out this last weekend and I had some complaints and hopefully you have some pointers.

@@Ronny_Dahl for me it's with the sleeping bag itself. The Swag has been Awesome. I noticed that in Single Mode the sleeping bag seemed to be a bit small for just myself. It didn't matter if it was setup for Smer or Winter.

Prado hospital claims the 1gd 2.8 is a risk long term outside warranty. Dpf, timing chain, and EGR coolant leak could kill engine. Has anyone had these issues?
