Look, for those who are still trying to compare the Lightning vs Ramcharger.
Most people do not drive 145 miles a day. The amount of money you will save by charging at home vs a regular gas truck for the distance is significant.
When making a long trip, you will just be able to fill up and go on the Ramcharger while wasting time charging with a Lightning.
So you get the best of both worlds. Same efficiency as the Lightning and the constant driving time of a gas truck.
Ramcharger for the win. Even compared to the Ford Powerboost.

Wrong. the ram Charger Rev has a continual running V 6 engine to power the generator. 27 mpg. You get that in a conventional Gas engine!

Likewise, I respectfully disagree with Sandy Munroe and really like the design of the Ramcharger, with its 92 kWh battery and 27-gallon gas tank and all, including adjustable air suspension and 120V and 240V electrical outlets. We certainly like the utility and flexibility of the proven, reliable Pentastar gas engine for traveling in remote mountain areas around here in northern Utah.

I'm looking for a good overlanding vehicle, and this Ramcharger sounds like it will be a GREAT option. 690 miles of range is great to have. I am really excited to see what happens as Ram moves closer to releasing it.

From your calculations, the powerboost and ramcharger get the same fuel mpg. The big question is how they compare when towing. I'm sure the powerboost mpg while towing will be more than cut in half. Towing with ramcharger will definately cut the range of the battery, but the fuel consumption may only be slighly reduced as the gas motor is not going to be under towing strain, only maybe a bit higher rmp to produce more electric output. The ramcharger could produce the best towing mpg of any truck. This would be especially true if the used a higly efficient, low rpm diesel generator. I had a 10kw cummins diesel generator that used 1 gallon per hour at full output. Traveling at 70 mph in the ramcharger with the same diesel generator, that would equate to 70mpg. This is why a diesel- electric train can pull 150 rail cars more efficiently than any other means of cargo transportation.

Two ways to look at it, yea gas engine is gonna get that but what is the total distance of the truck mileage is 25.55mpg. So you could also say the truck can get 20-25 miles per gallon.

The thing I think he wasn`t accounting for is the fuel mileage of the ram. The gas engine is just a generator and will run at the same RPM all the time. I would think it`s gas mileage to be better!

Well, Ram is the one telling us 690 miles total range. If the truck gets 145 electric range as they're telling us then 690 -145 = 545 miles of gas range on a 27 gal tank=20.18 mpg.

In central texas we're paying under $0.11/kw hr, or about 1/2 what you used for your calculation. Surprised you're paying so much more in PA.

Rams battery will be charging for free while running on gas ...this is genius

The gas engine is acting like a generator and unfortunately you have to fill gas to run it.

If/when the Ramcharger is really successfully and delivered in mass, we'll see if Ford designs a similarly flexible series plug-in hybrid truck -- Maybe they'll just put a V6 gas engine in the front truck of the F-150 Lightning truck, with an appropriate electrical interface. Maybe one of them will even have an electrical input by which third parties can connect solar arrays of varying sizes, even a really large array setup at a campsite perhaps. (Solar array that rolls out from a spool in the bed of the truck, perhaps?)

The lightning cost too much money, 55k for the base model and 90k for the top trim.
