Seriously though, glad to see you back. Ugh Chief using a pouch to reload, clicking the bolt hold open on his rifle, the weight of his movements, the camera work. Glorious.
I think I'll do a 'cursed halo' version of this scene at some point.

I would pay wildly good money to get a 30th anniversary Halo CE with this type of CGI style. It would unequivocally have a larger movie narrative- expressing more of the book translations to the game
it is very likely we will get remaster/remakes for the 30th anniversary for all 3 games. Because graphics have progressed enough and AI would make it alot easier for devs to do it.

@@dr.wallacebreen3859 H2A is not perfect, the blur cutscenes are good but they violate the principle of bungie that the cutscenes and the gameplay should feel like the same thing, and the 343 remixed ingame assets are not nearly as good

For the last custscene for the game h1 when Chief takes his helmet off it starts from inside the ship instead and from his back and pans around him as he's in his seat and takes off his helmet and show a glimpse of the back of his head and then show from his front the helmet set down on the chair then cut to outside in space outside the ship for the remaining cutscene?

Very well done. In my opinion the Cortana model and more specifically facial animation could've used a little more work but it's not bad by any means. I love the attention to detail and your lighting and FX work is spectacular here.
I thought the facial work was perfect when she first loaded up holographically and was looking at her arms in astonishment to the wealth of data she was accessing. That level of animation and expression, would've been masterful if kept up for the entirety of the dialogue.

As for the face I think it'd be much better if upper eyelid moved more visibly beyond blinking. And some eyebrow movement

I think the quality of the model is fine, I just think she moves a lot more sluggishly than she did in the original Halo CE cutscene. Lot less emotive, too
That mag-ejecting and the slide release had no right being as clean as it was. Top marks.

She was minty in this, huge props imo. Us fans can be touchy around her character, and this gets a pass from the uncanny valley.

This is absolutely stunning. The first half of the video especially with ambience of the footsteps in the empty hall and the weight of the door opening opening is just spectacular. The sound design alone is impressive. Reaching Blur levels of cinematics at some points. I’m convinced we need a true cinematic Halo CE remaster now like Halo 2. That eerie isolation in a mysterious, unrevealing alien world is what the new games and especially the TV show needs. And more Cortana! The eye movements really sell her part. In some ways I think Cortana’s model is the one part that’s a little rough but it’s also I think the hardest to get right. This is amazing I absolutely love it

I love that you enhanced everything without changing the way they look (Halo CEA failed to do this).
I also love how you made Cortana's hair move.
The original CE art style can be hard to translate into something more modern. But what ever CEA was, wasn’t even close to what it should’ve been.
Out of all the remasters game devs have managed to tackle, the RE remakes from Capcom are probably the best example of how to refurbish an old game for a modern audience.
Dude. Even the little specks of dirt or scuffs and slight tarnishes you can see on the forerunner structure floors is insane.
Yes the facilities are well managed but with hundreds of thousands of years passing… the subtle signs of wear and age is a nice touch and is incredible. Never thought I would be giddy about a digital speck of dirt.

Imagine if the Halo show was just the show version of the original trilogy so that ppl who don’t or can’t play games can get invested into the same story and we just get to watch a cool rendered tv series of it. Oh well.
They could’ve done soooooo many things but chose the worst possible one
Ppl just love to complain...moan and cry about Infinite for 2yrs now the show for 2 seasons. Halo cannot stay the same if u want it to continue. I appreciate the fact it's been going for almost 25 yrs.
@l76 The problem isnt change its the fact its not even a cannon show. Nothing that happens in it can be tied back to any of the other halo media because they made the conscious decision to make it not canon which makes the show completely irrelevant whether it was good or bad and doesnt respect either 343 or Bungies previous material or build upon any story we actually care about.
People love to complain cause all Microsoft have done so far with this IP for the last 14 years is pump out stuff people dont like or want (or is slightly misguided but good aka Halo Infinite and Halo Wars 2). Its their mismanagement of the franchise that has caused that and a division between people who NOW like the show vs the 343 games (4/5 not really infinte since that actually respected the art/sound/gameplay already established before 343) vs the bungie games. They have created a scenario where there r 3 fan bases for the same franchise so ofc theres constantly complaining. Thats all their fault thou regardless of perspective u look at this from.
Look at the last of us series, that show actually respected the original game and was just a live action version of the same story and everyone turned out happy there so...

I kinda interpreted it as chief starting to become exhausted. The campaign on halo lasted over 73 hours if I remember correctly. Chief went to the control room after regrouping with the surviving unsc forces at a plateau with some kind of relay tower. So he deployed to the tower and then fought against a literal army guarding it. It probably took him all day of relentless hit and run attacks, ambushing and slinking to get truly into position to assault the control room. After this he beelines it straight to where captain Keyes last location was, the library then begins and who knows how long he fought there. I think

Literally what Halo CE Anniversary should have been. There isn’t even combat and I’m watching on repeat. Insane detail, how chief flicked his rifle to more easily eject the spent mag, the rifle jolting up as he chambered a round, the camera work. Spectacular

HOLY RINGS ! That is one hell of an animation ! That is what a Halo show / film should look like ! You perfectly captured the creepy ambiance of Halo CE, each character's personality in their body expressions... 10/10 !
From beginning to 2:08 was pure cinematic perfection. Crisp on the cinematography and graphics along side. Complementing each other.

Every camera angle, bit of the sound design and body movement as perfect as can be. I’m genuinely impressed this hasn’t blown up already
Footsteps were way too light for the weight of that suit. DoF of the camera made everything feel like a miniature, and the massive door felt weightless which further sold the miniature feel for me. Also Chief’s run at the end felt… off, like really off.
It’s well done, and credit where credit is due for the work done - it’s a hell of a task to do, but there’s areas here that lack as someone who does work with this kind of stuff.
Reminds me of bacon medias animations, this is awesome!

@@nates205 I’m working on all of these out of order so there’s going to be a lot of random gaps between the full continuity. Even across any other ip’s is do remasters for.
Usually fan animation looks janky and clunky like a bad sfm but this character animation is so smooth most of the time that it genuinely trancends most fan work. Congrats and I hope you make more.

Imagine hanging out in that quiet atmosphere, only echoed footsteps and mechanical doors opening, after watching Chief tear through dozens and dozens of Covenant in fast-paced firefight after firefight. This video would be where I as the viewer finally had a minute to cool down, and where I would be drawn into the story that would unfold. This felt like a movie scene man, damn fine work.

INCREDIBLE! 👏👏👏 You nailed the atmosphere FLAWLESSLY! I am amazed with this. Brilliant opening, excellent camera use and audio reverb matching the cold hollow forerunner structure. Gorgeous lighting. The tracking shots of the ring holograms were really nicely done. The timing on the reload chambering the round was a nice touch. Draws suspense. It honestly makes the delivery of the lines seem outdated. At least for Chief. I wish we could get Jen and Steve to redo their lines for this. If they sounded as comfortable with their characters and in tune with the situation as they did in Halo 2, it would be absolutely perfect. Well done. Makes me wish for a faithful remake in this quality, and realize what the Halo show could have been if they just followed the source material. Damn I miss classic Mark V, it’s so nice.

Nailed it with the camera work, very reminiscent of the OG cutscenes with the dutch angles and crazy panning.
Some of the animations look a bit wonky though.

Thanks man! I felt compelled to put the effort in to a unique Cortana just as a test for myself. I’m feeling the need to make a 2.0 version, so maybe I’ll take what I’ve learned here, combine that with feedback, and canon references, then continue to iterate from there. Super glad you enjoyed!

Awesome!! The vibe is so good! The footsteps sound like a dude walking into work at a desk job though. I would expect some seriously heavy sounding footsteps, maybe metal on metal, but at least clunky and heavy impact sounds.

i loved every moment of it and the best part is this is one of my favorite moments of halo 1
and one of the moments i replayed countless times as a kid on halo CE PC because i never had an xbox so i always replayed the game and the OG PC multiplayer

I thought Cortana would be a bit more physically expressive with her dialogue like the game cutscene.
But what's more important is that you were able to sync up her dialogue and her mouth movements.

Gives me 90s vibes fucking perfection Which makes me realize, not every blur cut scene has to look the same. They should all have their own identity, but still looking as good as hell.
The halo ce soundtrack always seems incredible to me, with your animation including the cinematics it is excellent

Great job, like the presentation, Mk 5 armor looks good. Didn't like Chief walking around with his gun in air like a 90's action hero, he's a professional soldier he'd exercise proper gun control. (Totally aware he did have his rifle resting like that in CE in some cut scenes)
