**UPDATE** I have ordered the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge, and the Surface products. Stay tuned reviews on the way.
Great work Andrew
@@isaac_256 Thanks
One question. Does this mean intel will be no more?
@@isaac_256 Lunar Lake is supposed to make massive gains but of course we will see.
I am on the edge for galaxy book 4 edge
I was waiting for this, and you are fast. Thank you, I'm really hoping for a battery life that matches 85% of the M3 macbooks, as it would mean all day battery life for window laptops, which is quite convenient
that should be pretty easy to achieve considering the base macbooks have very small batteries and the M3 uses 20w
Intel laptops already match MBs.
My HP Spectre gets 18 hours of battery life watching TH-cam...
Thats Intel METEOR Lake Intel core Ultra which is providing 85% to 90% BATTERY LIFE of M3 Air.
Lunar Lake will be game changer.
You should expect less, just check the laptop details az 5:00, it's say up to 12 hours.. and it has 75Wh battery, which is more than 30% bigger like the Macbook Air. Even if both are ARM chip, the difference between 4 power cores and 12 power cores are huge, the 4 efficiency cores in Macbook have at max the same power consumption like a power core, so it's 5x for Macbook and 12x for Snapdragon the max power consumption if all cores are in use (and it's a multitasking OS, even if one app mostly only use one core, 5-6 apps and the background apps together can use all the cores..)
@@TamasKiss-yk4st Apple's M3 uses 20w while the Snapdragon X Elite can be configured to run at 23w full device usage so the core configuration is irrelevant, it'll all depend on the specific implementation by OEMs. The M3 air only have a small 54 Wh battery and uses a low power display, OLED will use more power but a 75 Wh battery should be able to outlast the air without any issues
Great summary, very timely, thanks Andrew! Looking forward to your reviews as soon as you have the hardware.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing the news. Eagerly waiting for your detailed reviews for the same, especially the performance aspect. Cheers!
so excited to watch the snapdragon performance
Cant wait to see your reviw on Thinkpad T14 gen 6
In your reviews of the laptops with these new chips, please let us know how many external monitors they will support. As we know that the M series chips have varying support in that regard.
Looking forward to seeing those lenovo and thinkpad reviews!
I've been hyped for the new Slim 7 since it was leaked! Glad it's finally here 🔥
Very exited for these and the reviews! Do you know whether some new snapdragon x elite/plus budget laptops will come out soon?
Really looking forward to all to come. Hoping ARM on Windows finally came to stay
Thanks for this quick and informative recap Andrew, highly appreciated. I am very excited and I hope it is as promising as it sounds. If MS has managed to build a reliable translation layer (which is really difficult for a huge ecosystem like windows), that would be incredible.
We are waiting!
Keep up the good work ❤
Which camera do u use bro, quality is awesome
All win Software compatibility?
Are some of these 2 in 1s I’m interested to how they compare the the 2024 spectre
Pls do gaming review on that laptops bec of different architecture lets see if they just show good scores or they really have it
finally.. I've been waiting for a very long time for the snapdragon x Elite
How compatible will the old software be? Im curious
Please compare different models in different categories like:
Screen wobble while typing on your lap or table.
Backlit keyboard.
Refresh rate.
Panel type.
Screen brightness.
Battery life.
Number Pad support.
Port selection and speed of each port.
USB4/Thunderbolt 4 support?
HDMI 2.1 support?
USB-C charging support?
External display support limits such as Four 4K displays simultaneously or other configurations like two 4K displays and two 1080p displays simultaneously.
When doing in depth review can you please check if ubuntu sub system and docker run on the new Qualcomm chips? Is it developer friendly. Will there be compatibility issue
Andrew what you prefer MacBook or windows?
What would you think of comparing (before having access to the devices) all announced Snapdragon laptops and suggest what you think may the best options? Would be quite useful for early adopters.
Can the X Elite run all software in x86 compatibility mode?
What does the Adreno GPU worth? I guess it shares the Ram with the Cpu? Will it run UE5?
I'm guessing ARM laptops support Ethernet via a USB dongle? Or at least wired via USB on the go. I'm an Ethernet guy, unless I "HAVE" to use Wi-Fi. My Samsung phone does. Spectrum was out once, and I just connected my desktop, which has no wireless, via a USB and it worked.
LFG!!!! I've waited for this moment like a farmer waits for the rain, im tried of using macos just for the bettery life.
The acer swift go 14 looks gorgeous.
All these laptops look excellent, and the boost in performance + battery life plus the fact that more mainstream apps (like Chrome, Adobe suite) are now natively available on ARM should make them appealing for mainstream use.
The only real Achilles' heel could be device drivers for very esoteric hardware but those are really edge cases. Looking forward to your reviews, regardless, because these laptops have a lot of hype to live up to!
Any idea when we'll see 2-in-1 laptops with the X Elite processor, Andrew?
Hopefully soon
Some suggestions tests when you got them:
- CPU/GPU benchmark
- x86 apps and compare with Intel version.
- performance in battery mode vs charging
- browser benchmark
- fan noise compare to M3 and Intel
- battery life in performance mode and balance mode
- is it possible to use it without installing any x86 software
- body temperature compare to regular intel version
- few games to see how much it can handle
hope that helps :)
Thanks 🙏
I wonder if they have expandable storage
Do these Snapdragon X laptops have an active cooling system?
Thanks, Andrew, for this first look at Snapdragon X Elite. Exciting times ahead in the laptop category.
Thanks and yes I look to testing them
Watching more reviews on my m4 iPad OLED. Can still return it but surface pro 11 is June 18th delivery!!
Do you have a list with leaderboard score for all of your laptops?
Yes stay tuned
Good for consumers because AMD Strix point in June and then Intel Lunar Lake.🎉🎉
And the M4 max the end of the year. I hope they can add 10 more GPU cores. Competition is heating up.
@@GlobalWave1 yes, Arrow Lake-HX/H in Q4 2024 is 100% confimed officially by Intel.
RTX 50 series laptop GPU on TSMC N3E in CES 2025.
hey which is better arm or x86? i think I should get an arm laptop and build a x86 desktop or go for all x86 or all arm in near future
@@SarthakNarnaulia i will prefer X86-64 lunar lake because it will be Efficient than ARM. Thanks to new powerful CPU cores and TSMC N3B
@@HDRPC but bro prices would drastically increase for lunar lake as it did on 13 and 14 gen. but it delivers a great battery life and good performance it might be worth the price ........
do you think there will be laptops with dedicated gpu in them? as a student im really hoping for a laptop that has amazing battery life and a gaming beast when stationed
Hi All! I am looking for the top video creation (adobe premier pro suite) laptop this year. What do you recommend?!
Any recommendations lol?
Benchmarks looking good against m3 but slower than m4. Good Battle coming up!
The M4 max will absolutely destroy though. I really hope they add 10 more GPU cores.
From certain websites, the Qualcomm X Elite performs on par with Intel Core i7 1370P CPU, but with battery life on par with the M2 Pro chip.
According to Geekbench 6 early scores:
- Single core 2,758
- Multi-core 13,943
Can you please run Solidworks CAD using the emulator on the X Elite? I am very curious if that will even be possible because if it is that could be a game changer
You talked about less fan noise.
I'm wondering if a few arm laptops are going to be fanless
If they are then that would be fantastic!
I think the Snapdragon X Plus products will be fanless
Solid video
Thanks @DaPoets!
Any plans of getting some 18 inch laptops for a review ?
Yes stay tuned
Waiting to see the the real world performance for these snapdragon laptops... hey Andrew can you review Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 Gen 9, 35.56cms - AMD ?
I really hope for the battery life; I can't go anywhere without a charging cable. Unlike my M3, which lasts such a long time.
Does anyone actually use the nip in the ThinkPad?
I have ordered the asus vivobook oled s15 let’s how it turns out
Hipefully get some value options around 800 or so dollars.
Oh man, I just bought a Zenbook 14 last week. Should have waited for these.
Go return it :D
Still time to return, and wait for reviews for these new Windows Arm laptops before deciding
yea that lenovo slim looks like a better deal
Just go return. Every store has at least a 1 week return policy
Hopefully by 2025 we will get some with dedicated gpu too
Are these better than Intel or Ryzen latest gen processors?
We will find out
I just want my ThinkPad X1 Nano with this new processor. It would make it such a better product.
THEY FINALLY SHRUNK THE BEZELS ON THE SURFACE LINE!!! Oh my god, it's about freaking time, I think I finally found my new laptop in the surface laptop 6
They're the samsung galaxy book 4 edge too !
Yes I just put the link in for preorder
Solid.
There is no 32GB option for the Yoga Slim 7x
Can you run Linux on that chip?
I'm typing this message on a MacBook Air M2. I admire its silence and power efficiency. Cannot wait for Windows/Linux industry transition to the ARM as well.
All I want to know is how do they perform with video and photo editing if the work well then I might get one if not then I might give me an intel or AMD
Wonder if these processors will do a new "M1 Apple" and be more power efficient and with improved battery life.
The pricing is just absurd. Like Microsoft is offering $100 cheaper than Apple equivalent and other brands $200 cheaper.
Like really?
What are they even thinking when putting such high price tag. The built quality is way way robust on mac. And even this new laptops are not gaming PC. I don't know where they get figure for such new landscape pc. The price should have started with $1000 for surface laptop at most. Just no shame on Windows side, not by a little bit. They sang battery life and AI. That's all to have price as Macbook. complete bs
100%
It'll cost an arm and a leg! Business prices no doubt.
ikr!
At this point the upcoming AMD Strix Point laptop is more desirable
You don't understand business. Brand new technology surges demand which increases prices (in the beginning). Wait until there are more brands and models that flood the market and competition pricing kicks in. Also watch for lots of returns in the beginning by the curious who had no intention on keeping them, making for great "open box" pricing.
Acer Swift 14 AI would be the best 75 Wh battery and 1100$ price is insane!
Wait they are calling it yoga when it isn’t convertible? Is that new?
With most of them at 1.2k price tag, i think yoga slim will be best choice.
The Lenovo T14s gen 6 will come with a 12 core Snapdragon X elite processor as per the Lenovo website. What's not clear is which of the three 12 core variants is this going to support.
Snapdragon X Elite
Processor Cores Cache Freq Core Boost tflops
X1E-84-100 12 42 MB 3.8 GHz 4.2 GHz 4.6
X1E-80-100 12 42 MB 3.4 GHz 4.0 GHz 3.8
X1E-78-100 12 42 MB 3.4 GHz None 3.8
wow nice laptops
I want to check them under Linux!
What about the pro apps on ARM - Windows?
We shall see soon enough
@@andrewmarcdavid I wonder how many professional applications run natively.
6:35 Intel and Qualcomm are working together on the GPU???
Since when?? 😮
The only oled with Snapdragon X Elite & microSD slot just Asus? 😮 Why
The 7x would've had me if it had a USB-A port.
Waiting for asus vivobook S15 OLED
No 16” laptop announcements?
Please review ASUS Vivobook S15 (S5507) Laptop; Copilot+ PC
Funny how a lot of their advertising is centered around AI everything but most people just wants a cool & quiet laptop with macbook battery life
Will this be the next big shifts in software development world?
Since the first Windows ARM64 years ago, we don't have any Android Studio for ARM64 other than macOS with Apple Silicon. 🤷
Has anyone tried gaming with these new CPU’s? If so what was it like?
Intel is going to need to focus on the desktop market. Too much battery efficient competition in the laptop chip market (Apple, AMD, and now Qualcomm).
6:44 Man, you're probably the most classy, elegant reviewer right now. How were you not invited?
1:22 The real problem with the xps 2024 is that they made sacrifices which were of absolutely no use, touch function keys to have better cooling in the 16-inch, but they limited the gpu a lot, for me that was a big problem, after There the price is very high compared to others, for me the machine is fine, because I actually like it, the xps 14 should only be a little wider to have better cooling and not limit the GPU so much, after there, it is very good machine, the touch function keys are the great limitation for everyone, but if you can bear that plus the price (it is much cheaper at Dell Outlet being new), you will have a machine with a good design, optimal performance despite the limitations and excellent sections such as the screen, audio and construction materials.
Andrew changes his mind and orders everything from Microsoft 🤩🍿🥳
Preorder for Lenovo is almos $1,300 USD not $1,200 though
Damn these are all pricey. I thought the Snapdragon chips were relatively cheap so why are these laptops so expensive. Nobody has an entry/midrange model price.
It’s high time, Apple releases its m4 macs asap.
60-90 hz laptops in 2024. Amazing… someone has to tell them we are in 2024.
90 hz isnt bad but 60 is unacceptable
Indeed... needs to be 120hz atleast...
Yeah, as a developer I do have to see my code at least in 240 hz !!... It depends on why you are using your PC.
@@Kalaerospace Once you go 120hz ... You can't go back...
@@Cybertron667it depends on lots of factors. I’ve tried everything from 240hz to 60hz and I’m fine with each depending on the quality of the display.
Good luck with that pricing .....
It's like we're back in 30 series Nvidia land. We need to know at what wattage these chips are going to operate. Just saying there's going to be an X Elite isn't nearly sufficient to give us an idea of the performance, unfortunately. (BTW, I'm not saying it's your fault, AMD; I'm sure you are telling us the info you have; it's just something we all have to examine with these chips going forward.)
Yes
X Elite versions:

For me ,company may not pass with my idea innovation because more way to come .
There will be many bugs as the first line of product. But the future is promising.
You forgot Samsung announcing the galaxy book 4 with the snapdragon x elite also
I wasn’t given any information before the announcement so I was in the dark. I have since included the preorder information in the description

Those are all amazing. But I'm disgusted by how they shit on EU people. Not only is the euro worth *more* they also make us pay 31% to 80% more! WTF?!
