May Allah give the sisters ( on Jubilee) hidayah. I never knew how enslaved I had been until I wore hijab. I had been unawaringly insecure ,and hid behind the hair and makeup. I have been wearing the hijab for 13 years now. My sense of self and my confidence have grown; I feel liberated and very much aware of what I say , do and where I go, as I am visibly a Muslim, and must be a Muslim in every sense of the word.
We all strive to be good, and may Allah make it easy for our sisters out there💚

The problem with the Muslim community is that we feel like we are always second class and have to change ourselves and our religion to seem modern to the west. Even if we disagree with what other people say about Islam whether they are Muslim or not we feel like we need to agree with them and explain ourselves. We need to be proud and stand up for our beliefs.

I am 15 in year 10 of highschool, I watched this video and mashallah, it opened my mind in a profound way. I am a muslim but till now I think before I was only projecting my religion in a physically way as in wearing my hijab and abaayah. I've been doing more research, studying/reading the quran more and even after watching your video's often it has made me intellectually understand what the label of a muslim is. Looking back at certain moments just thinking has an impact on me now. I used to see my fellow muslim friends take off their abbayah's when they get to school all I did was witness, I remember sometime when I was talking to my mom about my religion we come across the topic of being modest and Subhanallah, I know I never disrespected my religion by taking my hijaab off or following what my friends did, but I mentioned it to my mom in a way that I was making myself to be better than my friends that were doing such thing, and although it wasn't exactly right to do so, it is such a sin to judge people, as allah is the Judger of all who am I? who are we? I didn't even think their was a issue only praying 3 times sometimes even and there I was projecting myself to be all "superior". I believe this is the issue we have nowadays, you shouldn't exactly make your self to be better than another person you see, just because your "better" in a certain area they are lacking, you never know what they do that is excessively better than what you do yourself, and may allah have mercy and guide us all to be striveful better muslims inshallah to repent to our sins. I don't believe describing muslims as oppressed is appropriate but rather disrespectful in a way, I personally believe they never completely got an intellectually reasoning on why the hijab is so important to be saying "I had the choice to take it off" May allah swt guide us to be better servants for him only, as he made me feel closer to him than ever before.

The difference between the idols of the 'savage' and the 'civilised' is that those of the former are made of wood and stone while those of the latter are made of flesh and bone.
Being a slave to fashion and make up and the perception of what is beautiful as has been defined is a real thing.

They feel like it opresses them. She also said that burqah and hijab are bad, wearing them means submission to male dominance. The argument started in the first place because she trolled a sister wearing hijab in a video and I questioned her action. I tried really hard to make her understand that all muslim women aren't forced to wear it, some chose to wear it. Muslim women wear hijab only to complete their deen. Okay, non-muslim over here.
A lot of the points made here are quite manipulative against the non-hijabis, and can be turned against your own point. Sure, western culture often does pressure a particular standard of beauty on women, which is something which we know is a problem and we are working on it. But saying that non-hijabis are simply enslaved into western beauty standards, and that they don't have any free will, is a massively manipulative argument.

    • @poly9406

@@nurun-nisa892 Yes, but my point is that these non-hijabis are NOT enslaved by western culture (caps for emphasis, not for screaming lol). They can submit to Allah, but also take part in western culture.
Also, the Hijab should be worn out of devotion, not societal pressure by the muslim community- that essentially means its a personal choice. I'm sure that many hijabis have made that choice themselves, but I also know for a fact that there can be strong societal repurcussions to not wearing a hijab. At that point, couldn't we argue the same as the video, that as opposed to submitting to Allah, some hijabis are submitting to social pressure from the muslim community?

Looking good in terms of body is a good thing. I believe taking care of ourselves is a good thing. Getting help for mental illness is also a good thing. Yes on the onset, Islam does look like it has a strong patriarchal tradition- as in men telling what women should wear and dress like. but the same goes for western societies. I don't believe oppression is limited to muslim women. It is nice to be acknowledged, be part of a friendship but we should not sacrifice our identity.

Islam teaches you that if you don't cover your body, people will assume all you offer is your looks. That's why they ask you to cover it. What the hell stopped you from finding your value? In western culture you choose whether or not you want to trust people to look past your figure.

Its risky and tough living in non muslim countries, because during the whole education, and career achieving phases, most of our Muslim youth, end up ignoring there faith in the process sadly. Its like they are learning everything except about there own religion. We need to make it clear to them, that for success in this life, and especially our afterlife, you have to make your faith a number one priority. may Allah bring us closer to him, and help us achieve success in this life, and our afterlife Ameen.

I'm a Muslim man and you're wrong. Not wearing the hijab is different with being naked or half naked. Nothing to do with being free but some women just don't want to wear it, they aren't comfortable yet and you have to respect other people choices. I have to sisters, one wear the hijab, one doesn't and there's no problem with that. My mother doesn't wear the hijab, sometimes she covers, sometime she doesn't but it's more a cultural thing when she does. My father, me, my brother have no problem with that, they are free to do what they want. That doesn't make them less religious. They're more religious than 90% of those who wear it .
At the end of your comment, you said that the only benefit of being naked is to be abused ??? WTF, you're disgusting, you're what's wrong in the Muslim community. Even if a woman is completely naked on the streets, that give men no right to approach her, touch her or abused her. If you believe that the way they dress justify the abused then you're not a Muslim, you're just a dirty dog and Jahanam is waiting to welcome you with open arms.

      Assalaamu alaikum
Alhamdulillah, I think it's vital to really understand what the word Muslim means and what the term "religious" means in Islam.
Muslim is from the verb aslama, and aslama means "he submitted"
      Submitted to what or whom?
Submitted himself to Allah SWT. So far so good, that's easy to understand. But, what does it mean to submit to Allah SWT?
If you want to buy your mother a gift, do you buy her what she likes or what you like?... Obviously you'll buy what she likes.
When you submit to Allah SWT, do you worship Him how he likes or how you like?... If you do it how you like then it's not submission.
Submission is obeying Allah SWT, and he has not commanded anything except that it benefits us, and He is free of need.
He has given us life and everything we have (our eyes, our health, our food, our homes etc.) and he asks us to submit and that's for our benefit again. He is the only one worthy of worship. The most beloved actions to Allah SWT that brings us close to him is the fardh actions (compulsory actions: Salah, zakaat, fasting, haj etc.) and we draw closer to Him with extra.
The biggest, and most important action, that without we are lost... That is... Salah.
Start with Salah and never miss it and be steadfast with it. The rest will come. Pray as if it is your last. May Allah SWT make it easy for you, ameen.

I've seen people who do not wear a headscard but are more in line with the Islamic dress code. Hijab means cover right? I also don't understand how some muslims think niqab is compulsory when we are asked not to cover our face during hajj. I thought the extra cover was only permissible and prescribed for the mother of believers. Correct me if I'm wrong
