      If that bass was ALL that blue, I would have bought one! But those multiple colors are Gawdy.

    Thanks for the demo! Sounds are good and useful. Think it would look good w/o markers on fretboard excepting inlay at 12th fret, but that is just me!

    This reminds me of the my blue fade legend neck thru, but glad to see they put the reverse P pickup on this one. I agree on the tuners, I almost immediately upgraded mine to Gotoh's....

    Love Spector basses. The reverse P configuration works better in a PJ setup, IMO. When you consider fender is charging the same price for a MIA Pro II J or P, you get way more bass for $ with this Ethos. BTW, Rickenbacker has been making maple bodied basses for over 60 years. A jazz bass has had two volume knobs for over 60 years too. In my experience, a single volume blend knob is either hit or miss, as some basses I've played or owned with one had no minor taper between PUPs when turned, so you didn't get a subtle blend, just all on or all off.

    Your channel is great. I'm especially glad to watch the unbiased approach in your "not so dope" parts. Additional thumbs up for that! I have a (general) Spector NS related question. Are NS basses neck-heavy (especially the 5-string ones) compared to some other basses? And if they are, is it model/price point or wood quality (mostly maple in Spector's case) dependable? The NS body shape is my way favourite body shape for bass, but it seems kinda small compared to the neck and the headstock (especially the larger one on their less expensive series), so I'm guessing there's a lot of leverage on the neck side. Instrument (bass) balance is usually not discussed that much in reviews but it's of great importance to me. I hate to perform addtional thumb movements in advance to anchor the neck and prevent it from leaning downwards (especially in fast/tricky transitions from low to high notes register or during tapping). Cheers!

      @ishguitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny, we actually showed exactly this in the Spector Vs Dingwall Vs Ibanez multi-scale video we did last week - check that one out and your exact question will be answered. Also, it's a little wood dependent, a little strap dependent too (certain materials slide over your clothes like polyester and others grip your clothes better like raw leather)

    • @TomMarello
      @TomMarello 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ishguitars I saw that one but wasn't sure is neck dive primarily (or exclusively) caused by its extended-scale neck that elongates the leverage. Does the same thing happen with regular-scale Spectors like the Ethos or Pulse series? I have two Corts (B4 and B5 AS-RM) and they are balance-wise perfectly executed. You can see on my clip here (th-cam.com/video/rZDgmzfnv7o/w-d-xo.html) that I had let my both hands off competely two times and the bass remained perfectly still on my leg. I don't know is it due to its body shape and/or the wood composition (swamp ash body and panga-panga/walnut laminated neck) and light Hisphot tuners - but both B4 & B5 together cost less than single NS Ethos! Cheers!

    Looks and sounds great. I'm usually an EMG guy, but the Aguilar combo sounds pretty good. I do wonder though why the body isn't fully carved (explains the tummy cut). I'm guessing this is a cost-cutting measure or perhaps doing so would make the bass too close in appearance to the Euro line?

    • @ishguitars
      @ishguitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's just a body shape difference to separate the Korean/euro/usa lines. They are all a little different

    Hey Guys ! im in a struggle ... i cant decide between the Pulse and the Ethos 4 String ... ^^
    i would think it basiclly comes down to EMG vs. Agilar ? Any thoughts who youd rather recommend a pulse or an ethos ?

    Is a Warwick Bass the perfection of a Spector ?

  • @chriscuthbertson
    @chriscuthbertson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does a German built Warwick having the same hardware as a Chinese built Rockbass model make the Rockbass better value or de-value the German bass. You could say the Legends are great value as they have the same tuners as the more expensive models.

  • @InternationalBassStation

    There’s less for your sound to go through with two volume pots, vs a blend (which is a two way volume knob) and then a master volume. If you’ve ever run a pickup straight to an output, you’d know how much electronics affect your sound. It’s not good!

    The two things I dont like about this bass is the bridge. This is the lower quality bridge not typical "Euro" bridge you might expect. Meh, I can live with it. But what I really hate is that 5 string legend head stock. Puke! I love Spector 5 strings. I love the newer 5 string head stock. The old legend 5 string headstock just ruins it for me. Everything else on this bass just looks super KILLER! Great review guys, thanks! If I were going to get a 4 string, it would be a done deal.
