Broh, that harmonic lick in the intro. Jesus.
I love watching Ian play bass anywhere. He's always having so much fun. These new basses sound sick.
No shit, he's just awesome! You can always tell cause he's got a big smile hanging out of his face!
I could listen to Ian describe his morning bowel movement. He is very infectious and a bass guru in my opinion. That purple Dimension is just stunning.
He's good...real good 😂
Who can't help but smile while playing a Spector ❤
Ian‘s reviews are simply best, he‘s so enthusiastic but also honest
Ian always gives killer ànd honest reviews, fantastic player too !
OH WOW! I want all of the things! That tone is what I’ve been looking for, for a long time. I’m kind of on the verge of tears, thank you for doing this video! MN bass players!
Ian, you're an amazing pick player.
Cheers!
I'm in love with the Dimension plum crazy color model. O...M...G.
Gnarly intro Ian! Those distorted harmonics are wicked!
I got my black on black NS Dimension HP enroute to Toronto. I cannot wait! Well done on the HP series SPECTOR! Grind on 🤘🏼
Ian is a bass god and such a genuine guy
I don't know what the difference is but this dimension sounds more "spectory" than the previous generation dimensions to my ear.
emg pickups
Active EMGs and Darkglass Tone Capsule is a great recipe for Spector tone. Fishmans in the old Dimensions are very different, although more versatile
Fishman sound artificial, EMGs have the MEAT.
@@lffabara Yeah totally agreed. It sounds more digital not woody or organic.
I haven’t pined over a bass this hard in a long time!
Huh...those first 8 seconds just kept me busy for a while now ;)
Awesome review I want one
That groove on the Ethos with the distortion is killer. It’s like if Eddie Van Halen played bass. Van Ian. Or maybe Billy Sheehan.
You gotta transcribe that on SBL
Look at his hands! There's only a few open harmonics possible in that position. It starts in A and moves to D just from looking. You can watch the video at a slower speed too. I'm sure you'll figure it out quickly.
Or Billy Ianhan 🤘😜
Ian dropping the Pantera and Alice in Chains licks. HNNNGGG
Holy hell that groove you do at about 4:20 is insane. Sounds spectacular
those are some pretty cool harmonics you are using.
The Ethos was giving me major Geddy Lee vibes. Distorted tones were like modern Geddy and the cleaner tones were giving me Power Windows vibes.
I like all of those references!
I'm glad this purple dimension sounds better than the one Nate Navarro got for his demo. The low B sounded off in that one. This definitely sounds like I think a 37" B should sound.
Hi,looks great and sounds good but don´t forget about that lovely white Fender-bass. Sounds better so don´t forget about it. Of all the videos I´ve see with you it´s the one that has the sound I like the most
Cheers. Marcus
Omg the harmonics
What is the signal chain for this?? Not only am I looking into the 4 string variants of the Dimension, but oh my god that dirt/grit distortion is perfect for me.
I love the more modern, clankier sounding tones a lot of bands use nowadays. But I *really* love a bit more chunky, slightly fuzzy distortion like what you use at the beginning of the video!
Stupid good!
4:25 I could feel my balls responding all on their own. Great demo!
I do love the HP series on the Dimension with the Darkglass Tone Capsule and the EMG pickups as opposed the FIshman Fluence's - now if you just did the same colorways (faded black and the moss) and I would be sold. I want half of both instruments on the Dimension.
Those harmonics are so nice. 4 min. 45 sec. and on.
Darn it Allison!!! You're going to make me buy one of these aren't you?😂
Maaayyyyybeee? 😂
@@IanMartinAllison Dude, I love your work with SBL! I've nicked more synth ideas from you than I care to admit & the podcast is GOLD!
Well, that's his job, I guess 😂
@@craighill3715 Ish Guitars has them in stock as of this morning.
Killer opening riff Ian! I just ponied up for a NS Dimension HP 5 from Chris at Ish Guitars!!!! It better be good. I better sound like you!!!! Hahahah, you're f'n awesome dude! Scott wishes he was ever half as good as you! hehehehe... Now I'll be in Spector heaven hanging with real spectors and gobblins. See there, I'm already clever. Just got asked to a band this morning! There must be a shortage of bassists in Los Angeles. HA! Wish I could grin huge like that, Momma Mia!!!! --- Horse Pecker man!!! It stands for Horse Pecker!!! It's a whole different Dimension!!!
These look sound cool.
Just seen ibanez released the sdgb1 5 string fretless, would love to see a review of that😜😎🇬🇧
I really prefer the sound of these HP versions. The fishman system had a lot of sounds that I wouldn’t find useful and this sounds more like what I think of as the Spector sound
Is that an original bass line he's playing (4:22-4:35) because that sounds great!
What do you prefer, ethos hp or NS pulse II ?
Thanks for the videos Ian, you’re an amazing bass player 🤘
@iallison2112 at 9:30 is it both drives engaged using your ultimate amp preset?
I would take one in the Plum Crazy Pearl please.... Spector, you are doing a lot of good stuff this days. I juts got the new Dimension in Red, and was thinking how it would sound with EMGs - and now this.... killer sounding... Dimension 5 HP with EMGs... Where should I send you the checque? :)
Thank you for your support 🙏
Awesome review. When will these be available? I am ready to order!!
Several of our Authorized Dealers have them in stock now and our Online Dealers are also offering pre-orders that will ship very soon! www.spectorbass.com/find-a-dealer/
@@OfficialSpector price?
Ish Guitars has them in stock this morning. I know this is 2 months old, but...
Cool basses…but that jacket though! Where did you get it?
I want that ethos
Only god knows how i want a spector, bless me lord
I think Darkglass uses a high mid, low mid and bass. No treble.
70 hz, 500 hz, 2.7k hz
What’s the song from the riff played at 4.29 ??
I would just kill to get the 5 string Dimension with that insanely gorgeous interstellar gloss that they gave to the Ethoes a few years ago. Instant buy if they released that
Also a headless version would be killer, but that just doesn't ever seem to be Spector's thing, sadly
Imma have a purple 5 string dimension. Wish there was a 6str tho.
Lefty options?
I wonder, are we going to see a Euro version of the multiscale anytime soon?..
Is that something you'd want to see... If so, what's your dream Euro/ multi-scale look like?
@@OfficialSpectorEMG pickups, Darkglass Preamp, 'non-fancy' finishes (solid and flamed maple tops rather than grandma's furniture style)
Hi guys, do you know the song that he play at 5:15?, thanks :)
I’m Broken by Pantera!
What is the riff that he is playing from 4:28-4:55 ?? Original? Anyone know?
What’s the control layout?
You're not hearing hiss because the DG tone capsule is bass-low mid- hi mid, with no treble pot.
Does it come in a pj configuration?
The HP models do not.
@@OfficialSpector thank you 👍
Neckdive on Dimension HP Series
Drinks all around🍷
Have I just been won over to get a Spector multi scale 🤦🏾♂️
37" of low B glory. Yum
💪
White would be cooler it the sparkle was more prevalent
horse power :)
"Of course that's Would? by Alice in Chains..."
Me: *visible confusion*
great playing from ian as always, but those prices are a big rip-off.
Hey thank you so much! But I also have to come to the defense of these instruments. I think they’re super reasonable for what they are honestly! Especially considering what the US custom shop prices are. I came away from this recording day feeling like I could gig that white Ethos and be super happy!
This is 2023. Everything is twice what it was 2 or 3 years ago don't you know...
Been playing Spector's for 20 odd years.
The Spector sound is non existent since Korg took over.
Thank you for your support 🙏
The growl is gone
HP = Hans-Peter in Germany Deutschland 🤣✌️🇩🇪

I notice you didn't include and of the lacking QC aspects. I bought the dimension 5 recently. It is such a disappointment. The nut carve is amateur at best. Every part of the bridge feels soooo cheap. The setup from the factory had the B @ 4mm and the G @ 3.5mm. Upon going through the setup process myself (15+ years of experience btw), the neck seems mostly straight but the fretwork is anything but level. Any adjustment from the truss rod or saddles that get the action under 3mm gives loads of fretbuzz, and not the desirable sort.
The Dimension series bass really just seems like a shameless money grab. Produce a $500 instrument and charge a premium because neck-through and multiscale. For a $2k+ instrument, I am highly disappointed and will gladly share my experience with any and everyone considering a multiscale bass.
Does Spector even care about QC on instruments that are going to anyone other than TH-cam reviewers??? Doubting it.
$1800-2100 with a solid paint job and you farm the production out to Korea. Embarrassing.
Ian Alison, you are better than Scott Devine...Both of you are great bass players, but you are the better presenter. You talk less - play more...Scott is boring...
I'm glad this purple dimension sounds better than the one Nate Navarro got for his demo. The low B sounded off in that one. This definitely sounds like I think a 37" B should sound.
