    For multiscale on bass the B has to be 37" or it's not worth the effort~ Spector GOT it with this bass~ I hope they expand colors & fingerboard material options. VERY good video!

      @@ishguitars I watched some of your other vids~ all were great. I had a Dingwall Z1 about 10 years ago & sold it after a year & continued to play my Lakland 55-94. I LOVED the B string, but the sound wasn't working for me. I agree with you that the P Bass tone is my favorite & even single soapbar pickups like on the G&L L1000 will usually get me there. A neck pickup running alone (even on my Lakland) sometimes won't cut through the mix & this was definitely the case with the Dingwall. I absolutely don't like the 'bridge pickup' sound at all, but often it can be blended with the neck pickup for great sounds (as was the case with this Spector). The Dingwall had absolutely the WORST bridge pickup sound I've ever heard ~ even when blended with the neck. I've been kind of waiting for Dingwall to improve on this & kind of expected that because Sheldon's favorite bass tone is P Bass. I talked to him when the Z3 came out & asked him if he could do a Z3 with the bridge pickup omitted ~ he said that he could do that, but holy cow the prices have doubled for Canada bases since then. He did of course come out with the P5 but it is only 35" scale which is pointless to me. I saw your vid with the NG bass & it occurred to me that Ish could probably rewire that for me so that the bridge pickup could be disabled & the other 2 pickups could be run with normal wiring~ 'mid' pickup alone, neck pickup alone & both in bridge or parallel. The bridge pickup could just sit there for show but be deactivated~ do you think you could do this?

    • @ishguitars
      @ishguitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jmsmikey yes we could do that for sure! 100% understand what you are saying. I do have to say I think the bridge pickup sound has definitely improved, the pick up themselves have gone through quite a few variations since 10 years ago. BUT, what would be super cool to do with an NG3 (or 2) is get rid of the bridge pick up and make a custom pickguard so that it looks like factory....

    • @jmsmikey
      @jmsmikey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ishguitars oh I LOVE the look of the 3 pickups~ makes it totally badass~ I just want the bridge pickup deactivated, but physically it can stay there & looks great. Looking at the 5 or so color offerings I really like purple the best~ this will be onstage a lot so I look for eye catching colors & it appears that the purple one has BLACK hardware rather than chrome, which is a HUGES bonus if I am seeing this correctly. Also I thing that the NG originally came out with a B string drop tuner thingy~ which I really don't want or would ever use~ is that still on the NG?

    Have played a Legend 6 for years. Due to hand issues, I picked up an Ibanez SRRF805 multiscale. Great feel on the Ibanez, but cannot get the Spector sound like I could with the Legend. When the hands feel good - I play the Spector, when they hurt - I play the Ibanez. Always said if I could get a "fan-fret" in a Spector, it would be the best of both worlds for me. Since you are going to do a comparison on the Spector and the Ibanez - I'm really curious. Might have to put my '69 P Bass on the market.

The vast majority of the Spector endorsers tour with them. Now, there are multiple MIK series basses that fills in the price point gap between the Legend NT and the Spector Euro (the Euro Bolts are actually $100 less than the MIK dimension).

    Comenting on the Ibanez... I feel like you get a lot more for the price on those ehb Ibanez than this Spector in particular, I mean sure you probably buy a spector for "the sound" but this spector in particular as they said doesn't have the spector sound, with the fishmans it's a different feel and to be honest I think the Ehb's nordstrand pickups sound just like the full sound or even modern sound with the eq capabilities which are a lot on the Ehb. I mean you get your highs, lows, mid selector cut and boost, passive/active switch, balance and a volume, stock straplocks, also luminlays (forgot the name for that thing lol), locking jack! It's almost weightless, also contoured body (different from the spector), also poplar top, Ibanez' own bridge that can change the string spacing, and the best feature for a multiscale bass... no headstock, so no neck dive, no ugly string retainer, and literally everything you want to adjust wether it's intonation, frettboard, tunning you name it, you can do it on the body so you don't have to move to the headstock that often and it saves a lot more time.
    I love spectors btw but this one in particular not so much, as I said you have very similar sounds with the ehb and a lot more comfort, oh and I forgot the ehb has a finger ramp for fast pacing finger style, go check it out

    I see one other commenter made the same suggestion, but am I wrong in thinking this thing is overpriced at $2100 for being Korean made? Don't get me wrong the features are nice, and the bass looks amazing... but not sure how they are justifying that price. Maybe the are cheaper than Dingwall's, but being Asian made, isn't their real competition Ibanez? Which now this bass is double the price of the SRMS805?

    • @Thurgor_Supreme

      Probably because it's a fresh 2021 model, they think they can price gouge a little. Give it a few months or a year and this will probably ease into the $1750ish range. I'm already seeing them for $2k

      Korean manufacturers are great nowadays. Besides some more premium features (i.e. Tuners? some finishes?) there isn't a lot of differences when compared to the Czech manufacturers. Combustions are made in China and the starting price is around 1900USD (Still... awesome basses).
