I remember that like it was yesterday, he dropped out in his 7th grade year to work on a farm, and to work a factory job for almost 40 years straight and never was too happy with life, he explained that to me as I got older, I still have my job and love it, I still listen to this song occasionally, this was one of the songs we listened to all the time

I am a retired Soldier, and first heard this song while deployed to the Middle East; it made me think of my wife and how I wanted to see her again. I'll try to explain. They started as a rock band and they had, and still have, real talent. They could have been a great rock band but decided to settle for money and mediocrity. For the same impersonal music that everybody in the pop mainstream does, were you can swap singers and the songs would be the same, because are sterile, disposable pills of what the audience want and not what the artist has to express. Sure, their talent let some good song pop up here and there, like this one, but for "rock people" they became clowns.
If you think nickleback (one of the worst 'bands' for writing lyrics) write songs with good lyrics then obviously you never listen anything other than music on the charts
My wife and I had this as our wedding song. Ironically I had just qualified as a firefighter (the visual theme of this video)at the time after many years as a combat medic in the marines. I was in turmoil the moment I met her, but she supported me and helped me out of the hell I was in. This song will always remind me of our love together. The reason why Nickelback got so much hate that has stuck so long is because a lot of their music sounds so similar to each other. They were so popular and played so often on radio that people got sick of hearing them, combine that with the similarity in the songs and people held that feeling in them, and expressed the feeling. Then it was such an outspoken thing to hear someone say Nickelback sucks. Maybe they don't like them, but they absolutely don't suck and don't deserve the reputation or hate they have received. They are decent songs, sure they are samey, but they aren't bad just because they are similar, that is a ridiculous notion. People just got upset.

My wife visited Australia last summer and fell in love with the place. The people and the culture were amazing. I saw pics of Cairns and thought it was one of the most beautiful cities I've seen. Truly heartbreaking the devastation is in Australia now. The Aussies will rise again.
Beautiful song, beautiful voice. This is one band that I think deserves quite a bit of respect. Being a rock band and maintaining a clean cut image, presenting themselves as mature business partners on stage and the overall quality they put fourth to society as a whole in their music in my opinion, is the most important to me. This is one band I wouldn't be nervous taking my small child or even a grandma to see. They have class and respect. I've been to numerous concerts in my lifetime and this is one band I've never had the pleasure to see "live" and I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I do enjoy harder music as well but their performances on stage are a lot different not to mention the behavior of the crowd! I "get" people like to have fun but at the same time, so does everyone else around them. The difference between seeing Nickelback vs. seeing like maybe, Five Finger Death Punch is night and day. Even though I like FFDP, I'd never pay money to see them live. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bands I wouldn't pay to see just because of what I was saying at the beginning. These guys carry themselves with "class", give an awesome performance and I'm almost positive you wouldn't feel like you needed to quarantine yourself away from others after leaving one of their shows! This, Lullaby, and Never Gonna Be Alone make me cry every time, seriously don't understand why people don't like this band, personally I think that most people who hate them have never listened to them and are only hating them because their friends do, at least lyrics like these have some meaning behind them
I'll try to explain. They started as a rock band and they had, and still have, real talent. They could have been a great rock band but decided to settle for money and mediocrity. For the same impersonal music that everybody in the pop mainstream does, were you can swap singers and the songs would be the same, because are sterile, disposable pills of what the audience want and not what the artist has to express. Sure, their talent let some good song pop up here and there, like this one, but for "rock people" they became clowns.
If you think nickleback (one of the worst 'bands' for writing lyrics) write songs with good lyrics then obviously you never listen anything other than music on the charts
I HATE chart music, don't listen to any of that bullshit, I listen to Green Day, All Time Low, Avenged Sevenfold etc. Chart music sucks.
My wife and I had this as our wedding song. Ironically I had just qualified as a firefighter (the visual theme of this video)at the time after many years as a combat medic in the marines. I was in turmoil the moment I met her, but she supported me and helped me out of the hell I was in. This song will always remind me of our love together. The reason why Nickelback got so much hate that has stuck so long is because a lot of their music sounds so similar to each other. They were so popular and played so often on radio that people got sick of hearing them, combine that with the similarity in the songs and people held that feeling in them, and expressed the feeling. Then it was such an outspoken thing to hear someone say Nickelback sucks. Maybe they don't like them, but they absolutely don't suck and don't deserve the reputation or hate they have received. They are decent songs, sure they are samey, but they aren't bad just because they are similar, that is a ridiculous notion. People just got upset.

I’m a metalhead and have to say that I’ve always absolutely loved this song. Such a good hard rock ballad
Beautiful song, beautiful voice. This is one band that I think deserves quite a bit of respect. Being a rock band and maintaining a clean cut image, presenting themselves as mature business partners on stage and the overall quality they put fourth to society as a whole in their music in my opinion, is the most important to me. This is one band I wouldn't be nervous taking my small child or even a grandma to see. They have class and respect.
I've been to numerous concerts in my lifetime and this is one band I've never had the pleasure to see "live" and I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I do enjoy harder music as well but their performances on stage are a lot different not to mention the behavior of the crowd! I "get" people like to have fun but at the same time, so does everyone else around them.
The difference between seeing Nickelback vs. seeing like maybe, Five Finger Death Punch is night and day. Even though I like FFDP, I'd never pay money to see them live. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bands I wouldn't pay to see just because of what I was saying at the beginning. These guys carry themselves with "class", give an awesome performance and I'm almost positive you wouldn't feel like you needed to quarantine yourself away from others after leaving one of their shows!
