This song will always be a masterpiece for me. In 2004 when I was 12 years old, I started High School. I was bullied in class because I was the weird kid and I didn't had any friends. One day I was sitting alone in the Music Room and was hiding from the mean kids, while I was playing the piano. One senior girl came to me and sad: "Wow, you're realy talented. You have to play in our movie." She was filming a movie with her friends for her last year on High School. I was so happy she asked me, so I said YES. The week after, we drove to the town to film and on the way there, this song was playing in the car. One of her friends said: "Man, I love Avril Lavigne. This song needs to be in our movie." I didn't knew Avril before, but I realy loved this song too. Especially the part: "and no one likes to be alone." We sang it time after time and on our last day of shooting, I surprised them, with playing this song on a piano, that was standing in a park. I practiced it for days. We had so much joy this day. Those were my first real friends. Even though, there were like four years older then me, they just took me how I was and I was so thankful for that. Unfortunetly, we broke apart a few years later. Most of them moved away and the nice girl, that asked me for the movie got cancer and died a few years ago. I haven't seen them since nearly 15 years now. But this song always reminds me on them. Nico, Fabienne, Lexi, Shawn, Jason, I miss you. ❤
I'm 35 years old, facing really rough time with life. I'm not sure what to do or who to turn to, so I decided to go back in time and listen to this song and imagine I was 15 again. Such a great song
this song bring me back to the best memories ,when pop rock was the most popular type of music ,girls used to wore ties and smokey eyes, boys used to wore baggy pants instead of skinny tight jeans and songs used to have meanings and soul ,good old times :).

I was an isolated, confused 15 year old adolescent when this was released. I'm now 32 and believe me I wish so much I could go back to those days. I dream of those times every night, i wake up every morning crying, where did all my friends go? Doesn't anyone remember I'm here? Loneliness is more real now to me than ever, nobody to call my own, no family, no children, I'm the only one left. There's no worse feeling in the world. Make your lives as worthwhile as you can ,as early as you can and don't ever shut people out that truly love you. Before you know it, there's nothing worth holding onto, and the reality of being alone, I mean truly alone, will tear into you and pull your guts out for every single moment you draw breath. Look around you, recognise and hold onto every person you care for, friends, family, love... absolutely everybody. Hold onto them and don't ever fucking let them go. Once they're gone, they're gone...and living with that, day after day, there's nothing, and I mean nothing, more heart rending, it will extinguish your soul after chewing into the fabric of your very being... God bless you all...
It's almost 1am and I'm listening to this song and reading your comment. I don't know who you are, or what your story is, but I hope you find some peace. I'm with you ❤ Good night dear friend.
There is always hope my friend for this to change. I am alone as well and I have lost my sister on 2012. My friends are gone but I still have hope and I am 23 years old. Don’t give up yet. Wishing you the best.
i am an orphan, the only child, and nobody cant take care of me bcs they believe i can take care of myself. nobody would take an orphan who doesnt have anything anyway. i feel like there is no way to make a way out of it. but its okay buddy. we just have to hang on a little bit longer than anybody elses. i know we can. just be strong.
Im glad im not the only one...This song saves my life from serious depression during my Teenage years...I always love this song...always in my heart...
Such a lyrically deep song. The idea of feeling so alone in life that you seek comfort from the presence of strangers, but even the strangers can't fill that empty void. Feeling like nobody understands you, like nobody wants the same out of life. The feeling of wanting to be accepted so bad that you're willing to pack it all up and leave the past behind you. I always come back to this song as a personal memoir to represent the journey of my life. Sometimes we just have to figure things out on our own, even if that means leaving things we care about. We have to always have hope that someone will come along to save us from those moments of despair, a romantic partner, family, a friend.
@Yufi Rayco dat's what ur parents gonna say to you.. This happend time by time.. Maybe we/us gonna say that song nowadays suck. But for some people or kid maybe gonna be their memories to remember in future.

I'm a huge Avril Lavigne fan. I grew up listening to all of her music and it's really hard to pick a favorite song by her, but if I really had to, I think it would be this one. I still hear it on the radio 12 years later and it brings back so many memories. Love you Avril

I agree. This was the most relatable to me and a true ballad till today! I felt like she was vulnerable through the lyrics. Video style still memorable!
This song will always be special to me. I was a kid when it came out and my childhood had its struggles just like many others. I remember one night in particular, my mom was driving us home in the rain after a long night of me tagging along with her at work while I had school the next day, and we cried together over life’s challenges. Listening again as an adult, I can’t imagine being in my mother’s shoes at that’s time. I’m sure she desperately wanted someone to come save her like the song suggests. So thankful for my mom for being tougher than I could ever be, for Avril for releasing this work of art, and for the hardships that created this memory which helped mould who I am.
@@queentantrumofficial I never once resented my mom for it. Even as I child I knew it was just what had to be done and I felt for her. I lost my mother in October of 2002, then I heard this song for the first time shortly afterwards. I felt some kind of connection to the song, and every time it played tears would just flow down my cheeks. I was just 10 years old and my mom was 30 at the time of her passing. 20 years later, I still love the song and still miss my mom very much.
Hello my lovely friend how are you doing. I'm aaron from california. nice to meet you here i really love and appreciate your comments i see you as a nice and respectful woman. so please tell me more about yourself where are you from❤❤
Sara Khan Young people will never understand what good music is all about. These songs have meaning. Todays garbage music is all about bitches and hoes, guns, drugs. Etc. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I mean, maybe it's a different kind of magic? Like in the late 2000s-early 2010s, there was a clubby, rave vibe, late 2010s gave us some dark themed things, and this was just this raw beauty, all magical in their own way...
This triggers so much nostalgia. A world where my daddy was still here, walking home with friends every day after school and a time when we thought we had "issues" but in reality it was the best time.
Me too. My mom was still alive and loved Avril. My sister got this cd for her birthday and we shared a room at the time, so we would listen to it together. I'd give anything to go back for one day.
“It’s a damn cold night, trying to figure out this life.” That lyric is so damn true. It’s one of the worse burdens of life. Trying to figure a path and be ok with it, and not constantly second guess yourself.
You figure out the options you have. Research the best you can. Figure out a plan and pursue it. But in the end. Life is simple. You make choices and don’t look back.
You're not lying. Especially for people who think for theirselves and are creative. Like knowing when the picture is finished. When to stop. What to start on. It is confusing but if it wasnt, it wouldn't be genuine. It does get to be overwhelming most of the time....
I remember watching this music video on MTV when I was 12 y/o. I miss the young, no stress days. It's so sad because music will never, ever be this good again. I will always keep this song in my heart!! 💕
Her school got me through high school. Break ups, family issues, etc. Just to find out that she's only 1 year older than me. Now I understand that she turned her emotional processing into a career. Music has this power effect of syncing your mind to the emotion. Very powerful.
Man, i can't listen to any song from avril without tearing up. Either because of nostalgia, memories or just pure feels. Man. Avril hits different when you grew up with her.
My friend played this in her car the other night and I hadn't heard it since high school and I started crying because it literally is my life right now. Every lyric resonates.
This song and video perfectly defines that moment we`ve all experienced from time to time in our lives, even if some of us dont like to admit it. I usually feel like this whenever im out at a party or a bar somewhere, surrounded by people I know, and there`s that one girl who you`ve been talking to alot lately and have had ur eye on for quite a while now,...and she ends up hooking up with somebody else. It leaves you bloody and battered and bitterly pissed off with the world, especially when u look around and see everybody else having such a great time. It makes you feel so alone in a life that is so unfair, so you end up leaving early that night, alone, to go clear ur head and lick ur wounds. As painful as it is, its a good, but hard lesson, that gives credence to the fable "what doesnt kill you, makes you stronger". But just like Avril says in the song, it would be nice, if only for once, somebody would just come along and take us by the hand
and here I am listning to this song in my bed crying so hard remembering when I was in highschool thinking it's the end of the world I'm a mother today and a teacher but this little girl is still in me
Same mama! I’m here for you and want you to know you got this! Even if nobody believes in you, as another mother I feel you and want you to know you are doing great.
Never lose touch with that girl. That's who you are. The world has built itself around you but it doesn't own you. Know what I'm saying? "Dont know who you are but I.....I'm with you."
Esp when both work & life come crashing down , case in point : last couple of weeks my manager counselled/ kinda forced me to resign. And there was a bereavement of a family member who was a superstar in more ways ._|~
Why can't you see old friends? Trust me, never pass up a chance to visit and see them no matter how far apart y'all are! It's only one plane ride away!
To anyone who listened to this, and feel lonely. I don't know who you are, I'm with you. You deserve the world, and world need you. You doing great, and I'm so grateful for that. Thank you for still alive.
In a world where the vast majority of popular music does not age well, this song feels timeless. There's no gimmicky sound that was big when it was released; there aren't any references from the time of its release that date it; and best of all, it's about strong emotions of longing and being alone, which are universally relatable. Happy 20th to this amazing song! I will never not love it.
@Adeola Gbadamosi my mom used to play this all the time now I don't see her anymore and the only things I have that bring me back is this song and the smell of smoke to anyone that has there parents around especially mothers find a song you both like a never forget it bc one day it may be all that's left
Lyrics I'm standing on the bridge I'm waiting in the dark I thought that you'd be here by now There's nothing, but the rain No footsteps on the ground I'm listening but there's no sound Isn't anyone trying to find me? Won't somebody come take me home? It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life Won't you take me by the hand? Take me somewhere new I don't know who you are But I... I'm with you I'm with you I'm looking for a place I'm searching for a face Is anybody here I know? Cause nothing's going right And everything is a mess And no one likes to be alone Isn't anyone trying to find me? Won't somebody come take me home? It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life Won't you take me by the hand? Take me somewhere new I don't know who you are But I... I'm with you I'm with you Oh, why is everything so confusing? Maybe I'm just out of my mind It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life Won't you take me by the hand? Take me somewhere new I don't know who you are But I... I'm with you I'm with you I'm with you Take me by the hand Take me somewhere new I don't know who you are But I... I'm with you I'm with you I'm with you Take me by the hand Take me somewhere new I don't know who you are But I... I'm with you I'm with you I'm with you

20 years later, and Let Go is still one of the most inspiring, powerful, talented and memorable deliveries by Avril Lavigne. Love all of her music, but this album hits me emotionally and impactfully the most.

The early to mid 2000’s was something magical, I really can’t explain it. This current generation really missed out.
It so true 😥
I mean, maybe it's a different kind of magic? Like in the late 2000s-early 2010s, there was a clubby, rave vibe, late 2010s gave us some dark themed things, and this was just this raw beauty, all magical in their own way...
The '80s and '90s were the peak of entertainment, the early 2000s were just coasting off of that greatness.
@@PistonAvatarGuy as much as people will try to argue, this is actually probably true

“It’s a damn cold night, trying to figure out this life.”
That lyric is so damn true. It’s one of the worse burdens of life. Trying to figure a path and be ok with it, and not constantly second guess yourself.
You figure out the options you have. Research the best you can. Figure out a plan and pursue
it.
But in the end.
Life is simple. You make choices and don’t look back.
When I read this comment the top part was what she sung wow
True.

my god is it that old already?LOL but yeah this song rocks!
Her school got me through high school. Break ups, family issues, etc. Just to find out that she's only 1 year older than me. Now I understand that she turned her emotional processing into a career. Music has this power effect of syncing your mind to the emotion. Very powerful.

+Bill Proud probably because your names bill, change it to blake and then BAM.

Sweetie!!! Same!!!
Okay... ummm
Never lose touch with that girl. That's who you are. The world has built itself around you but it doesn't own you. Know what I'm saying? "Dont know who you are but I.....I'm with you."
This song hits different when you're alone at night, thinking about life.
Absolutely
Esp when both work & life come crashing down , case in point : last couple of weeks my manager counselled/ kinda forced me to resign. And there was a bereavement of a family member who was a superstar in more ways ._|~

I'm waiting in the dark

No footsteps on the ground

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?

Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand?
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you
I'm looking for a place
I'm searching for a face
Is anybody here I know?
Cause nothing's going right
And everything is a mess
And no one likes to be alone
Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?

Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand?
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
