One of the comedians jokes (a dude who never made it) was about how he hates Nickelback and they suck. The promo and trailer for the show had this featured on it. So it went "viral" before things were going viral on the internet. Even some celebrities like Adam Sandler jumped in on it, said it live on TV. Other people followed suit...like I said, just like sheep.
It's a weird phenomenon lol EVERYONE loved Nickelback when they came out, they had chart toppin hit after hit and people respected the amazing quality of their music. Then, outta no where, it just became cool to hate Nickelback or talk about how terrible they are.... based on... nothing. People did it for eCred and it just kept snowballing until practically anyone you ask would claim to dislike Nickelback, right up until you put on 1 of their songs and those same haters are suddenly rockin out.
I don't care about anything the lyrics says. I can't stand that lifestyle. But I still love the song, it's fun and catchy. As a musician too I like how it changes modes

This brings back great memories of listening to All the Right Reasons on CD in my Mum's car as a kid, I've all but lost her to the big C now. Just rocking out in the car without a care in the world. What I'd do for another car ride like that now.
I don't understand the hate...both bands had some incredible songs. It didnt matter what genre you listened to we all listened to this as the video portrays. The decline in popular music started in the 1990s and by the 2000s the charts were dominated by trash and in 2020 there is nothing good at all. The same has happened to cinema. TV will go the same way as well.

I partially hated them thinking they only made songs for radio hits until I found out they played in pubs for ten years first and made at least 2 super heavy rock albums first - not radio friendly and after their success made a heavy rock album again a couple of years ago.
