These are practical tools that I put in place which helped me to put distance between trigger and response when it comes to binging or overeating. I do have a longer intro on this one, because I do believe it's incredibly important to give context. Please let me know in the comments if you have any tools which worked for you xx

Yes to all of this. A saying that's really helped me is "Hunger is not an emergency." Humans can go quite a while without eating and suffer no adverse health effects! Even when your stomach is growling, it's not an emergency. Slow down, breathe, don't panic, take your time to find something nutritious, eat it slowly so you have time to really savor it, and give your body time to tell you that the belly is full. ❤

This content is SO helpful. I really appreciate that you promote therapy as a part of managing eating behaviors, and these are really tangible practices that people can try. I wish more people understood that it's not as simple as "stop eating junk food", or "go on a diet", but there's a major psychological element of it. It's trying to learn a new way of coping with really difficult emotions and behavior patterns. Thank you so much for raising that up!! 💜💜💜

Thank you so much Colleen, that’s a huge goal of mine, to dispel the myth that being overweight or obese is down to ignorance or laziness, that’s an old system of blame and shame, I want to promote that this is a mental and behavioural issue 🖤

I almost never see tips on preventing binges that actually address the root problem so THANK YOU! Everyone tells you about staying hydrated, not skipping meals and keeping trigger foods out of the house but this is so much more helpful because it targets the mindset that causes binges in the first place. ❤️

I learned that technique in CBT. 5 things you see, 5 things you hear, 5 things you can touch. Cbt helped me stopped a lot self abusing behaviors from sex to cutting. Food was really the last night that i held on it to escape the feelings. But now i just feel them. I use to automatically reach for my razor. Trigger, razor cutting. Wow. Im proud of myself its been over 8 yrs

Carla, thank you for your advice! It's so important to remember that binge eating and food addiction recovery starts in the mind ☺️
One thing I find really useful is making sure I am properly nourished. I noticed most of my binges happened when I was hungry.
I've always been overweight and heavier than my immediate family. I always turned to food when I was extremely stressed and recently I had a massive realisation. The rest of my family are thin and it's because we all have different ways of coping with stress. My parents and brother smoke and my sister drinks. I don't smoke or drink often. My "drug" was food. Once I realised this, I was able to recognise those moments of stress, and take 5 mins to myself with a tea/coffee. I also don't keep trigger foods in my home anymore.
Thank you for your inspiring videos 💗

Yesterday, after watching, was the first time I didn't eat after dinner in years! Today is day two. The breathing technique is similar to a technique I learned years ago to help me center before doing spiritual readings. I've used this now at least a dozen times these past two days.

This whole video (&all your others ☀️) are so incredibly helpful. I’ve recently completed trauma & bereavement therapy and everything you’ve said I can relate to so much. Grounding is something I do a lot and also deep breathing which I learned whilst pregnant. So helpful & calming. Hello Carla, I hope you're having a good day. I only found your channel a few days ago. I have been watching your videos from your very first YT video. Congratulations on your weight loss and on the birth of your Son. I have just gone and took the plunge and signed up for the April 2023 10-week course. I found your first few videos hard to listen to because it was as if I was listening to myself on all levels. You have given me the courage and hope to once and for all to become a happy, health Helen. Only got one issue and I did email Body Slims this afternoon to ask for advice but the advice wasn't helpful. I have been housebound for nearly 5 years and I walk with a walking stick because of slip disks and having arthritis in my feet, knees and hips and spin. Could you please tell me what if anything I can do instead of my 1-hour walk? Thank you also for the great advice on stopping binging and all the other advice I have yet to get round to hearing from you, but got until April 2023 to soak it all in, Many thanks again Carla, Kind Regards, from Helen, England.

Hi Helen, thank you so much for your message, Gerard will explain everything in the first seminar, walking is best, but for those who are unable to, a static bike, cross trainer or swimming are also ok. My gp also told me to walk for 15 mins at first and add 5 mins each week, 🖤🖤🖤
