Used masking-tape and put the screews where they belonged as I removed them. Had to make two thinner spacers under the rubber-grommets to get the circlip back in place. The whole job took a while !🙄

Was able to install it on my '15 GS without removing any bodywork, only the aux lights to gain access to the clips. The clips that I would never have noticed without your video! Thanks a million!
The one that is hidden behind that bracket is a right faff to get back on. I "glued" the washer to the grommet with a lick of Vaseline which allowed me to press down on the headlight with one hand while slipping on the clip with the other.

Nice! I gave up and could not get the clip back on so I then removed the side panels. Glad I'll never have to do it again!

Thanks, Pat. I have a '22 GSA with LED, but I have to remove the headlight for a different reason... to replace broken windscreen support arms, which raise and lower the screen. I was surprised and dismayed there really aren't but a couple of videos showing how to remove the headlight.
The other is a British fellow, but it's only 2 minutes long and doesn't have any real detail about the fasteners holding the headlight to the bike. So I thank you for your effort.
As an overly-analytical type, I want to see what I'm getting into, to minimize surprises and the "oh-heck" moments. That includes looking at online exploded parts diagrams, such as MaxBMW.
Ultimately, I think I'll get one of Steve's (It's a Bike Thing) headlight protectors. While $200 or so seems expensive (it IS!), replacing a $2000 busted headlight would hurt me a lot more.
    So... thank you.
    Ride well, and ride often.

I am the same as you! I like to see how to do the job first. That is why I make these videos is to help the next person as much as for my benefit on how to put it all back together. I love abikething! Ride safe!!!

I think those headlight protectors make the gs look like a womble. Incidently did you order your bike with halogen headlight or was it sent with it as a temp measure due to semi conductor shortage. My sept 22 gsa came with the temp fitted halogen like yours but i got a retro fit voucher and i am still waiting for my led light

Protection to me is all about function over looks. What I like about this one is the ease of removal for cleaning. No voucher for me unfortunately. It has a 500 dollar discount is most likely why I assume. It has the halogen light in it. But I don't do a ton of night riding so I doubt it will be much of an issue. Heck I haven't had this one out after dark yet. It is usually early AM when I am out at night. Like 4 or 5 am.

@@PatsAdventuresTravels i totally get your decision withe protector pal after all our bikes are very industrial looking imo and thats what i like about them. As for your halogen headlight being ok at night i can say i have had a few rides that ended up dark for last hour and i can say bearing in mind my last bike was s1000xr 2022 with full led hlight my opinion is led is kind of a fashion thing you will find your halogen headlights are very very good as good as most halogen equipped cars pal. Only reason i want mine is the horizon feature and the cool factor my voucher has 2 alternatives wait for my led or spend £500 in dealership. My bike was configured with led in mind sales man tony told me led was not on so i knew the issue anyway dude nice talking to a fellow gs guy safe rides i am hoping to visit california in sept

@@PatsAdventuresTravels thats not true bmw are sending out the parts so the dealer can retrofit the bits if the salesman has told you it cannot be upgraded then maybe thats a bit of mis selling all gs and gsa built from july through i think to oct shouldvhe come with a retrofit option if you do not manage to sort it pal there is one sort of silver lining the bike sold after oct started coming with led but no heated seats and no possible way to retrofit the heated seats as those bimes have a different wiring loom if you didnt order the heated seats then yours isnt upgradeable either
