Her at times horrific treatment at the hands of her 'father' makes her one of the more sympathetic members of Gotei 13. What also makes her stand out is that despite being the creation of such a mad scientist psycho, none of that seems to have made an impression on her much and she has her moments of humanity even if she assisted him in his experiments as Uryu found out.
Well I mean healing with boom chika wawa....is a plus. Too
I like Mayuri too, he literally made himself a daughter. And even though his treatments seem strange, he ultimately loves her.
It's just filmed in a way that makes him look like a horrible person, but he isn't. He knows how strong she is and is very proud.
He also never did anything to her that can't be fixed. (she might even have reduced pain receptors)
And he is in a position to make a new one with ease, but he doesn't.

That’s because Kubo dropped it, which to me was a mistake and a letdown. I still ship them no matter what, there’s fan arts with Uryu and Nemu as a pairing and I love them.

@@sarov7658 Glad I don’t work for a company where I don’t have to rush and neglect some parts of the story for Bleach. As a fanfic writer, I can just take my time with the Uryu and Nemu pairing and not be told to rush or neglect a romance pairing.

Kubo has said before he had no interest in romance and was basically forced to put it in.

I like to think the reason Mayuri is so brutal to Nemu is because, in a way, he wants her to die. He wants her to fail so he can continue on his quest to create new life. As he says to Szayel: "Scientists should strive for perfection but never reach it."
Or something to that effect.
But, once she actually died during the fight with Pernida, Mayuri was faced with the fact that he had grown attached to her and, in his own way, grew to love her. That's why he had the breakdown over her death and Szayel showed up. It was his "father" side butting heads with his "Scientist" side.
Serious question/food for thought: do you think immediately at her time of death, Mayuri also realized/concluded perfection had been reached?
@@kneau I wouldn't use the words "concluded" or "realized" as those are too final and we do know his scientific side takes over and decides that if she died than obviously there must be more improvements to be made.
But I could definitely imagine that on some level he briefly thought that to be the case.
He is brutal and horrible to everyone, and honestly I think most likely he made her a masochist and exhibitionist for her to respond the way she does to him and still be so loyal. Nemu deserved so much better
@@kneau No, not after thats why he made the next Nemuri and right after the fight Szayzelporo told him perfection is impossible to reach and you shouldn't try to reach it because perfection is the end. Now before the fight he subconsciously thought she was perfection but he realized he was wrong.
@@kneauno. I think you were letting your emotions get to you, granting her perfection due to her sacrifice. Same with anyone who reads that reply and agrees. She was never perfect, was never intended to be, and died imperfect. She was just good enough, and That was enough to break his heart. Perfection is objective. What nemu was, and the feelings that finally broke through with her passing, were subjective. She was imperfect, but what he needed. Hopefully Nemu 2 will be treated better. Nemu basically sacrificed herself to allow her successors to live a bit more comfortably, because she broke through, and softened him a bit
Nemu, honestly one of the better ones, who I honestly wish she had the ability to gain a zanpaktou.

If nemu was able to obtain a zanpakuto would it not just be a copy of ashisogi jizō? Seeing as she is just basically a copy of mayuri, and ur zanpakuto being another half of your soul?
Mayuri thought he one upped Uruhara with Nemuri version 7. But Uruhara has created 2 working versions with little to no bugs in Ururu and Jinta.
Actually it was never confirmed ururu and jinta were the same as nemu

I like to think that Uroharra actually did on up Mayuri but I don't think the world would be ready for that Mental breakdown that Mayuri would go through.
Urahara told me to keep it silent because Mayuri might have a mental breakdown if he learns about it.
We all know kubo wanted szayel to come out from the usual pregnant way instead of the mouth, editors had to stop him.

I swear the fight between the soul king and mayuri and kenpachi was iconic due to the intellect growth and the irony of starting against kenpachi and finishing against mayuri but it freaking irritates me STILL that mayuri sacrificed his gorgeous daughter despite the results

It has always been rather interesting and funny how where there was anything squad 11 related, Mayuri was always around and involved.
For a guy who hated fighting and violence, he sure loved instigating conflict.

The Japanese voice actor for Kurotsuchi Mayuri also does the voices for Freeza, from DBZ, and Caesar Clown from One Piece😂 Didn't notice untill just now
I freaked out when I first heard him as a child. The Free, the Free, the Free, the Freeza!
Nemu always seemed like an interesting character they could have done more with. And Nemu #8 is just the cutest little muffin ever and deserves all the head pats. If there were to ever be a sequel I'm sure her being around the age of the protagonist kids is no coincidence.
Bleach is one of the first anime I ever watched. It will be nostalgic when the anime starts to air again.
Bleach was my introduction to anime (outside of "western anime" like Avatar) and I remember being so confused by the filler because I had no idea what was going on. I never experienced that kind of thing before and so spent a lot of time trying to figure out the timeline of the movies and filler arcs 🤣

In terms of Mayuri and Nemu relation. Mayuri's own speech to Grantz is a reason he is so confused about Nemu and Doesnt know what to do with her - from his perspective she is a perfect creation. But as a Scientist he cant allow him self to think that. Basecally i see it as a fight of 2 Prides inside of him Father's (or creator's) Pride VS Scientist Pride.

I agree. I would throw Soi Fon, Lisa, and Riruka in there, but that's just me. There's lots of amazing waifus in Bleach.
My theory as to why Mayuri abuses Nemu is similar to yours, but with an addendum - I think Mayuri sees Nemu as an extension of himself rather than her own person. And look how he treats himself! He tortures his zanpaktou, he experiments on his body and leaves it covered with stitches, he paints himself up like a Halloween costume every day. When his zanpaktou disobeys him, he blows it up. When his hand is taken over, he cuts it off. Mayuri grew Nemu out of his own body, so it would make sense that eventually he’d treat her like he does his own soul and body. It is interesting that initially he was so in awe of his creation that he left her alone for her childhood - perhaps part of why he treats her so terribly is a form of self-punishment for seeing her as perfect?
When she proved herself her own being, beyond his control, it seemed to change his perception. Although, interestingly, our first intro to Nemu had her disobeying Mayuri to help Uryu. So she was always capable of disobeying him.
I thought that to myself as well. I don't think Mayiuri has a lot of genuine fatherly feelings, I mean he's fucking demented, but there is a sense of ownership in sustaining a relationship.
And now im thinking how the only difference between Mayuri and Aizen is that the former is a nerd incel trying to justify the ego he has generated because of his struggle(whatever that was to begin with) and the latter is the jaded giga talented chad doomer tired of gaslighting attempts from room temperature IQ shinigami.
I also think that maybe Mayuri is cycling to being content with a seemingly perfect experiment and then punishing himself for his arogance since that isn't perfect of him.(kinda ironic)
If you think about it Mayuri artificially created the first Waifu of the Soul Society

I've always wondered how different characters would react to having both basic fans, and _interested_ fans...this gets me wondering how _Mayuri_ would react to people liking and seeing Nemu as a person, and also seeing her as desirable.
My first guess is he would see it as a "...example of how effectively my creation mimics a natural life-form!" or however Mayuri would say that, and the second would be confusion as he wouldn't understand being _actually_ attracted to or caring about Nemu since she is only an "experiment".
Does make you wonder if Nemu looks so attractive because that's just how she developed, or if Mayuri was thinking something like "Nemu is female...she must be the _pinnacle_ of femininity!"
Not to say anything perverted (beyond whatever Mayuri did after the fight with Szyaleporro) happened between them, just that Mayuri has such an obsession with creating true life that he would want to make Nemu as obviously female in appearance as possible the second he found out or intended for her to be female. Or, having developed breasts gave him more mass to work with during experiments or something...
Honestly, Nemu was my favorite character in the entire series, and her journey, in spite of her diminished personality due to Mayuri, was very fascinating.
I was actually wondering about when Tekking was going to cover Nemu. I'm glad Tekking at least mentioned the Reigai arc, but I would also add a quick description of the moment of awesome they give Nemu in that arc, quoted from TVTropes: _"As Rukia is having trouble fighting A Dark Clone of Nemu, and two Artificial Beings, Nemu shows up and quickly offs her clone by stabbing it in the heart with her hand. Badass."_

I enjoyed leveling up Nemu in Bleach The 3rd Phantom in the Nintendo DS.
She's just super hot.
Funfact - some time after release of last chapter of Bleach, Kubo posted on Twitter his photos in full, professional cosplay of Mayuri.
That was kinda cool, probably one of the coolest things he made.
Mayuri is a favorite because he is a mad scientist without being a "bad guy" in the story ^^ love him, also Nemu
Now that I think about it Nemu's end fight was kinda poetic. She was the right hand of a man with a God Complex and she was literally fighting the hand of god.

On the subject of Yachiru,
I do subscribe to her being Kenpachi's Zanpakuto, but it's more complicated than that.... if she alone is Kenpachi's spirit, why didn't Kenpachi recognize the voice of his Spirit when it told him its name? But Yachiru has to be part of it, otherwise why did she disappear when Nozarashi was called, and how could she give him his Bankai?
What if Kenpachi actually has three Zanpakuto spirits? The skeleton spirit from Yachiru's "shikai" that Isane commented was weird could be Kenpachi''s Battle Lust, Yachiru could be his innocence of the childhood he never had, and I'm not sure what the Fuzzball would be. Maybe representative of the rarer softer side that he feels for Yachiru and goofing off with Ichigo?
One of the others could've been the one to talk to Kenpachi since Yachiru was busy and already manifested, and maybe Yachiru is the most dominant spirit since she's interacted with Kenpachi the most, so her true name, Nozarashi, was the one that was given to Kenpachi.
According to this theory, Senpo Kenju, the name of "Yachiru's Shikai" could actually just be the names of the other two spirits that she was literally asking to "come on out" as in out of Kenpachi to help her.
If this is accurate, it would mean that Kenpachi's Bankai may actually be incomplete, as he only knows one of the names, similar to how Renji only had half of his Bankai's name and only ever represented the snake without the baboon until the final arc?
As for how this came to be, it may be a side effect of Yachiru having her own Asauchi? She was the original spirit, but then she was divided into another spirit that became Senpo and Kenju, representative of her own cutesy attitude, but also representing her own blood lust. Maybe this is why she alone is the one that Kenpachi can call on and learn the name of, because she's the one with the direct tie to him, and the others have to operate through her to reach him?
Hoping Tekking sees this before the Yachiru video.
She could possibly have acsess to Shikai. I mean, even though she has an artificialy created soul, it is still a soul, she has her own personality, thoughts and feelings. I think it should be possible for her to pour her soul into an Asauchi and grow even further through her Zampakutou like every other Shinigami.

I think Mayuri's whole thing was that he understood the 'natural order'. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to dissect the Soul King but only because he is a man of glutenous discovery and not to become a ruler or some lofty goal. If anything he might already know what would happen if he were to do what Aizen wanted to do and the conclusion he probably came to is that it would be boring AF.

@@komi-sanmustbeprotected5665 Honestly, I could imagine something like that. Like, Mayuri put some sort of organic equivalent to a button in her body, and very possibly made it _there_ of all places, and made it so when he presses it, Nemu regenerates as long as she's still capable.
There aren't any things I can immediately think of that I wouldn't believe Mayuri capable of doing...the man is just so _warped_ even compared to other mad scientists, and what Mayuri does actually _works_ so he can just keep going and going and going...

It's sad how her whole existence was being used as a tool by the person that created her and before she ever has a chance to enjoy life she dies.

I think that CFYOW novels reveal that Jinta and Ururu are also artificial life like Nemu. But I still beleve that Mayuri bested Kisuke on that front becouse Nemu was so far ahead of both Jinta and Ururu in terms of development, power, intellegence and overall potential.
I've had a theory about yachiru for the longest time. Going of everything that was revealed in the TYBW arc, her being named after Unohana and what she said to kempachi before revealing his bankai. Not to mention Kempachi's admission to Unohana, what if that admission was so great that his soul reflected and manifested it into his zanpakuto.
What I'm getting at is what if the spirit of nozarashi is actually a women that happens to resembles Unohana physically, because of Kempachi's admission for her since zanpakuto's are reflections of shinigami's souls. And Yachiu is actually the bankai spirit and her physical appearance is probably what Unohana might have looked like when she was a child.
Similar to how zangetsu's shikai and bankai spirit forms resemble Yhwach.
That's interesting, but personally I think Yachiro being a child is to reflect Kenpachi's nature. Because when you really break him down, at his core, he's basically just a child that wants to play non-stop.

Technically, Urahara also used science to create a Bankai. His was just a way to cheat the training into like a few hours...but still science that created a bankai. Which probably even now still sticks in Mayuri's craw.

I’m still freaked out by when nemu got brought back to life when she died
The Regai arc was actually pretty good. The Filler characters for it wasn't so bad and decently handled, it gave more screen time and development for Kon, the main villain was pretty damn smart and cleaver, not on the level of Aizen obviously, but still a good foe to fight, and it gave us a lot of matchups we'd always wanted to see: Kenpachi fought himself, Ikuku got to fight the Regai of Kenpachi and use his Bankai on him, the fight between Komamura and the Regai of Soi-fan was pretty cool. It was a pretty fun arc, Nemu actually beat her Regai in the arc, only for her and Rangiku to then get taken out by the Regai of Rukia sneak attacking them.
I wonder if Mayuri ever thought that if he and Urahra where to team up and work on a Nemu 9 which could be a soul king with the quiny soul reaper full bringer dna and become one

Small factoid that may or may not be canon ... the spear-head project was the ... project that came with the idea to give artificial soul's power ,and was if I recall the idea of ouko yushima .. the main villain from the reigai arc ( and he is kinda canon ... somewhat as you can see him very early on I'm the series in the rnd department )

Well ichika we can tell from the guard on her sword she might have a lightning/thunder type zanpakuto and as for kazui judging from ichigo and ishin it’ll have getsu in the name
