You don’t know how much I enjoy watching all of you trying Japanese traditional clothes with so many different styles; I’ve loved Japanese traditional clothing since I started iaido, sadly it’s difficult for me to buy some of these clothes, keep doing this!!!

I'd rather go to a nice shop where I can get advice, try on clothes, etc. I would also pay a little more for that. Or I have to wait until I make it to Japan in a few years.
I would rather have the fantastic wealth to be able to afford all of those things, and businesses are very much dependent on remote orders, especially with how restricted tourism is. I hope to help at least one shop make it through the week.
If you have any anime conventions, check there. Sometimes they have people selling Kimonos at Anime Conventions. I got a pair of Hakama from a seller at an anime convention
In my opinion, Kazu looks better on the second outfit and the third outfit. Kazu has very dark hair, dark eyes and light skin...according to the color analysis theory Kazu is Deep, therefore, he can be autumn ( deep + warm) or winter (deep + cool), which means medium colors and dark colors fit Kazu better. I'm a woman, however, I love many color palettes of men's clothes. I like the variety of colors japanese women can wear and I like how well the colors of japanese men's clothes fit each other.

January, 2024. I am in the US, of course, and have just started “getting into” kimonos. I have a hard time finding authentic kimonos, and am really on my own as far as learning about them and the other parts of traditional Japanese attire. I love all of the kimono, but I personally would've picked the spring/Autumn, I really liked the design, I'm a sucker for that dark base color with gold/yellow designs. But Shogo your wife is a secret master at wardrobe arrangements, they've all been 5 star
I like the spring/autumn one best! I like patterns and striking visual contrasts. So the brown with the mustard yellow obi and the pattern it looks very nice! Man, i couldn't wear hakama, for some reason I think the open sides where you can see the kimono underneath, as well as the obi, strikes me as embarrassing. Must be a western idea about not seeing clothes meant to be hidden, plus if I was wearing a pretty obi like the yellow one or the daruma I'd want it to be seen!

I'm a fan of wearing kimono and it's fun to see different colors and combinations outside of really dark colors for men's kimono. I especially like all the obis you guys chose
At last some kimonos for men. I really enjoy it. Now, the summer kimono was the most beautiful indeed. Winter kimono was also OK, but the spring was less beautiful due to the brown colour and those patterns. Rightfully Kazu chose the summer kimono. It would be useful if you said about the price of each kimono types and accessories. Anyway, it was really nice.

Hi Shogo, I have a question: Given that modern steel is better these days, do you think a modern katana made with more modern technology (less time to make) and material can be better or compete with what's already proofed traditional made? Thank you.
To your credit, Shogo, I actually appreciate your consideration for variety in color and pattern (moreso than the sets that Harumi and Tomoko picked out). As a man, myself, I've never liked the expectation of drab and dull coloration in men's fashions. If I was to put together one of these outfits, I would definitely go for patterns and I would have more variety of color in the different garments (though I would probably have the hakama and the collar match, but that would be about it). I would also have a haori, no matter what the season (just in case, because I live in a cold, unpredictable climate), and of course, a haori-himo; a major perk of men's kimono dress. In other words, it would look closest to the outfit you put together, only with even MORE variety.
My favorite colors are gray, navy blue, white, and black. So, I love the summer & winter very much. Not that I don't like the autumn one, it's also beautiful. And also, I'm on writing project and really need a reference of green Kimono (& Yukata). I can't help but admire the one you wear, Shogo. Thanks for your videos. It's always educative and well-researched. 💚💙

I love all of the kimonos. Colorwise the winter kimono is my favorite but I love the Juban, Haori Himo and the fan of the summer kimono. I like all 3 of them.

Though the best kimono is winter one.....best undershirt is the grayish one.....best obi is winter one and love those gems 💎 on the kimono holder..... I wonder what your opinion is for a westerner wearing a kimono. I have always loved the romanticized Samurai culture and I play the role playing game Legend of the Five Rings. I would love to get a kimono to represent my character in the game.
Shogo actually mentions this in a few videos, but yes he encourages anyone interested to learn about and wear kimono! I can't speak for Japanese people personally but I know that he and others express that seeing the traditional culture enjoyed by westerners helps keeps it alive for both non-Japanese and Japanese people, and that's a really special thing when traditional Japanese culture is at risk of dying out.

I really liked the colors from the summer kimono. I was just wondering - if you would wear a hakama why tying an elaborate obi knot? Because it isn't visible. And I have to ask: Did you really mean "House riding hakama" for the Umanori-bakama :D?

Honestly, it seems that I have a similar taste as Kazu: I also liked all the kimonos but summer was my favourite, winter was second and spring/autumn last 😅.
I like the colour/print of the spring/autumn kimono, but like kazu, i think the lack of haori makes it less ommmpf than the others. I do feel the same with kazu's choice. the summer one don't look summer - it feels very cool but maybe tat's why? u want to see sth cool in summer instead of hot
Kimonos look good, I think I would be comfortable...a concern of mine would be: what if running full speed is necessary? Will the kimono or hakama stay on and up and tight enough?

Being Kyōto's sister-city, it's certainly possible to get them here in Boston, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

I'm a 6"1 - 6"2 tall big build Asian guy and I hope I will be traveling to Japan next year February 2023. I would very much like to own my own sets of men's kimono.
1. where do you recommend to purchase men's kimono online or physical store in Japan that fit my size?
2. the getta or setta slippers and tabi socks recommend for someone who's in size US12 also will you do a video about those someday about what's the difference of getta and setta slippers?
3. does Men's obi belt have sizes?
4. does Haori comes In different sizes and length?

I wonder what your opinion is for a westerner wearing a kimono. I have always loved the romanticized Samurai culture and I play the role playing game Legend of the Five Rings. I would love to get a kimono to represent my character in the game.
Shogo actually mentions this in a few videos, but yes he encourages anyone interested to learn about and wear kimono! I can't speak for Japanese people personally but I know that he and others express that seeing the traditional culture enjoyed by westerners helps keeps it alive for both non-Japanese and Japanese people, and that's a really special thing when traditional Japanese culture is at risk of dying out.

I really liked the colors from the summer kimono. I was just wondering - if you would wear a hakama why tying an elaborate obi knot? Because it isn't visible. And I have to ask: Did you really mean "House riding hakama" for the Umanori-bakama :D?

Adding the haori himo to the haori adds flair increasing style points. It's akin to men wearing a tie clip with their tie for pizzazz.
I would love wearing the winter kimono because all i just need to do is remove the Hakama and i have a summer Kimono 2 in 1!

Honestly, it seems that I have a similar taste as Kazu: I also liked all the kimonos but summer was my favourite, winter was second and spring/autumn last 😅.
I would love to know where you got the kimonos (plus obi etc.) from?

I like the colour/print of the spring/autumn kimono, but like kazu, i think the lack of haori makes it less ommmpf than the others. I do feel the same with kazu's choice. the summer one don't look summer - it feels very cool but maybe tat's why? u want to see sth cool in summer instead of hot
I didn't like the spring/autumn one, but summer was my favorite due to the color coordination.
Kimonos look good, I think I would be comfortable...a concern of mine would be: what if running full speed is necessary? Will the kimono or hakama stay on and up and tight enough?
How many kimonos do you need to wear one every day? How often do you wash them because I bet its not every single time you wear it
