    Definitely worth it. I´ve modded mine with a Formula Style Rim from Acelith Design, which is pretty cool. I use to drive Formula or GT Cars, so that was a perfect fit for me. Since then, force feedback has improved a lot - the mod wheel is a bit lighter than the original rim. It´s only a few grams, but you feel that immediately, cause of the low torque the base can supply. Reduced weight definitely benefits the base. Conversion as you said is really easy and can be done by everyone.

    • @ryanw1284ryansrants
      @ryanw1284ryansrants 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's pretty awesome actually. I went the other way entirely. I put a massive 350 mm rim on it for NASCAR and feedback was gone. I wish I had tried a formula rim before upgrading my setup just for the experience!

    • @JeromediaEu2486
      @JeromediaEu2486 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ryanw1284ryansrants Yes, that´s exactly why I will wait purchasing a Nascar Style Rim (love oval racing as well) until I switch to a DD Wheelbase next year. The Logitech simply can´t handle heavy rims with large diameters well. Sure you can mount it, but most of the torque gets lost because its lacking power...

    • @ryanw1284ryansrants
      @ryanw1284ryansrants 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeromediaEu2486 Glad to hear you say you're getting a direct drive! I had a CSW 2.5 for a bit but could not stand its performance for its price.
      I got non-stop clipping killing details just trying to get resistance for banked oval.
      Once I got the DD2 the game was completely changed. Personally I found saving tires and correcting oversteers is the biggest benefit.

    • @JeromediaEu2486
      @JeromediaEu2486 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ryanw1284ryansrants that completely makes sense for me. I haven´t done simracing for nearly 10 years before I decided to get back into it last year. I tried a lot of hardware since then, beginning with the CSL Elite, CSW and finally the DD1 base, which I could try out at a friend of mine for about 30 minutes. The conclusion for me was to stick with the gear I already have and go "all in" as a next step. To be clear: for me there´s nothing wrong with an CSL Elite or a Clubsport wheelbase. They´re solid bases at an reasonable price point, but they´re simply not what I am looking for.
      The thing is: in my opinion Direct Drives least advantage is the high torque you can possibly get, which often is the main sales point for the systems out there. I mean no one is going to race at 20 nm of torque for several hours. What sets it apart from belt driven systems is the detail of feedback you can get from it - at least in my personal experience. And that is exactly what I´m trying to approach: get as close as possible "to the real thing".

    • @ryanw1284ryansrants
      @ryanw1284ryansrants 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeromediaEu2486 agreed, I would run what most people would consider high force feedback and and I'm nowhere near 20.
      If the CSW came with a rim or pedals at the price I may have been happy but felt it Just didn't have enough to justify the price tag. The first thing I did was strap a NASCAR wheel on it though. Those with formula rims may love it more.

I don't want to sound like im bashing on the logitec stuf just found the mods for them to take me no were at the loss of feedback and money for what they are at that price point i think there very good but i had my g920 for 4 years and it was time to move on . If i could start over again i would have only bought the magnetic shifter mod saved my cash then got the v3 pedals as they made the biggest diffrence . I ran the v3s for around 2 months with the logitec wheel and my lap times came down a fair bit then got the V2.5 and formula carbon . As for the logitec pedals i tryed every brake mod in the book and the best i found (for me anyways) was the stiffer spring and kept the rubber in there too i think there pedals for that price point is very good and there well made simple inside and just work . Fanatec on the other hand has given me more cofidence in the car much better feedback and the precision of a surgeon on track fantastic gear .

      @@simracingwales4997 I lucked out big time. I had a g25 for almost 10 years. Sold at the height of the sim racing boom. Ebay auction went all the way up to 500 bucks!! (paid like 299 originally). The condition was maybe 7/10? I literally repaired one of the USB cords w/ a soldering iron and shrink wrap.
      I was already in the process of modding the g920 and realized at that point, yeah bigger wheel makes a huge difference in some cars I drive. So I listed the modded G25 for sale. (I used the metal adapter instead of 3d printed ones Karl used) Needless to say, it sold for more than MRSP albeit not as much as my other (450 or so) .

I was thinking about getting 1 of the cheaply made knock off sparcos or momos because being knock offs they are lighter then standard steering wheels which might lessen the loss of detail in the force feed back a bit. those wheels are too flimsy for a real car but should be fine on a sim wheel.

    Hi. Great video. Again. I have one question. I have a G920 steering wheel and use it to play Dirt rally 2.0 and Assetto Corsa Competizione on Xbox one S. I would like a bigger steering wheel for the rally, but for the ACC the original steering wheel is still quite good. I wonder if you can use this 3d adapter with a basic steering wheel as well? The adapter would be permanently mounted on the base, changing only the steering wheel. Would that work? Can you reach a paddle shifters with a basic steering wheel in this case?

      Cheers dude, I have a playseat challenge and it is great, currently got a Thrustmaster TX, T3PA pro pedals and TH8A shifter, just have to try and figure out how to mount the pedals securely when they arrive. You seem like a resourceful chap, so if you have any suggestions they would be appreciated, can’t see the Velcro holding them properly, used cable ties on the pro pedals as I was running them inverted so loads off points to attach the ties to, the T-LCM’s won’t be as easy though. Oh well I have waffled on enough, enjoy the rest off your weekend dude.

    • @KarlGosling

      Depending where the 4 bolt holes line up just M6 bolts and penny washers will secure the pedals to the PS, that's how I have the Logitech ones fitted, ditched the velcro strap! :)
