I don't have an RV but I really dreaded the setup with camping. Until I started watching how different people around the world camp. Asians have a whole different approach. Instead of it being something to get through, it's an opportunity to temporarily make that space your own and comfortable and it's crazy how much that mindset change has affected me. It's still hard but instead of hammering stakes, I bought some that screw in with a drill, and a dolly to help carry things. And then piece by piece "the campsite" becomes my retreat and it's actually nice!
We have just decided to sell our RPod and switch to tent camping. We are 70 years old but decided we can do this. Why? Finances were what made us decide to sell the camper, but honestly, the more I prepare for camping without a camper, the more excited I am getting. We can do this!
absolutely great video, your kids will remember tent camping for the rest of their lives. we started with a van and a tent. then to a pop up wonderful parents you are.
You fill the space that you’re in. So, if you get a trailer, you’ll be hauling more, even if you don’t “need” it…because the space is there. Yes, tent camping takes so much more time. We are “full time” in our Airstream, with deeded RV lots, but tent camp all the time because it’s easier. We have property an hour south of Teton National Park. So, when we go to Teton or Yellowstone, like next week, we’ll leave our Airstream and tent camp. If you choose to sell your PHX home, perhaps invest in deeded RV lots instead, in places you want to be, where you can rent them out and earn income when you’re not there. Our lots are no maintenance, since it’s concrete with sheds. Just a thought…
Check out the TRIPTIPS XXL folding toilet. A lot more comfortable. It goes up to 19.7” high & collapses to a few inches for travel. I’m old & have bad knees & couldn’t use the one you have. It also can hold someone up to over 800 pounds. I love real, no frills camping in a tent.
I love your video! I've seen many many camping videos, and there's something so genuine about you and your family. Thank you so much for sharing! We don't own an RV so we tent camp most of the time and although it's HAWT in Texas, we enjoy our time together making memories ❤.
I love seeing the new pep in your steps. Our paths wind and turn and take us in so many different places. Thrilled for yall and this new chapter in your continued unordinary journey ❤️
I LOVED tent camping with my boys (who are now 53 and 33), but there's something sinfully decadent about waking up on a brisk 30 degree morning, flipping the thermostat up to 65, and turning on the coffee pot while looking out the RV window as the frost melts off the plants. But with children, tent camping is the only way.
I totally get that. I imagine after many days of tent camping I would miss the RV more. haha. But we did have a great time and I look forward to going again soon!
I just found your video. My family used to tent camp on the mogollon rim when I was a kid! I now live in upstate New York and we camp in campgrounds. Not nearly are peaceful and pretty as where you are! Or were. We lived in Peoria back then and the heat of phoenix was intense.
Just went out to check out the camper and guess what, found a broken bracket on leaf spring just one side so I called a welder and driving very slow there and they said they might even have a new bracket or they can fix old one in two days!🎉 always something don know how long it was broken . Last trip was from valley of the gods in Utah and a flat tire on NM it was ok then 🥴 . Owell getting truck serviced the 10th and going to Gunnison Colorado and do some fishing and nothing. . hope nothing else happens.
A Blackstone overlanding? lol love it!!! Def need smaller equipment. And will be really hard to hit the trails with that carrier on your hitch. Not bad for a 1 night camping trip but needs work for a 2+ day trip and hitting the trails/overlanding… can’t wait to start on our setup this fall/winter. Be ready!! Hope all is well…..
Looked like an awesome time - and your family looked very happy and relaxed… not that you didn’t before - but it’s a change of season…. Glad to see you go with it. 😊
wow. You guys did good! It’s just me, hubby, & dog. I pack a roof rack, the truck, and hitch cart for our wood. That view was amazing! day & night. Thanks for sharing
I camped a fair bit when I was younger, but these days I dislike the disorganisation that seems to come with camping, particularly all the kit/ clutter you end up bringing along...These days I only camp to facilitate another hobby, ie when fishing or metal detecting, and then only for a short time maybe 3 nights max...
I know I am a bit behind, but just a suggestion. Could Cinder lay at the kids' feet especially for shorter (less than 3 hrs) drives? Our Fiona sits at my kids' feet and not on the bench. She is about the same size as Cinder. Although I do have 2 kids, so room may be an issue with your 3. Thank you for sharing your life. It has been nice to watch our kids grow together. (Eek that sounds creepy, lol, our kids are really close in age.)
@@NoOrdinaryPath Our Fiona now has arthritis and I think she will need the room to be comfortable during drive days. However, I tried to put Fiona in our "trunk" space in our SUV once awhile back, she did not like it. She ended up climbing over the seat to get back to her "pups" (the kids). lol
Yes I couldn't remember in the moment. Only that the night was taps. We didn't hear anything in the morning sadly but taps at night is absolutely beautiful

The kids grew so much! Wonderful to see you all!❤
Thank you! Yes they are growing like weeds!
absolutely great video, your kids will remember tent camping for the rest of their lives.
we started with a van and a tent. then to a pop up wonderful parents you are.
Thank you so much.
Would love to see that packing list!
I am so happy for you guys in your new season! You’re still embracing life and adventure and it looks like you’re having an amazing time!!
Thank you. Balance has been so good for us.

WOW guys, the kids looked so happy. Cinder is an awesome dog,
She is the best dog ever. We love her so much. :)

Awesome. Thanks for the tip!!

Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. It really means a lot to us. I'm glad you enjoyed our video.
Kristin, You look so good without all the paint on your face. Actually you are drop dead gorgeous without it!!
Thank you
I love seeing the new pep in your steps. Our paths wind and turn and take us in so many different places. Thrilled for yall and this new chapter in your continued unordinary journey ❤️
Thank you! It's been so nice to pivot a little. Thanks for watching!

We’re going to buy a fifth wheel and after tent camping for decades we’re ready for decadent travelling😂

Aww!! Yes the summer heat is brutal here but the winters make it worth it. :) Especially places like this.
You can’t put a price on memories !
It is a pretty area.
beautiful!
I really liked this video!!
Oh good! I'm so glad to hear that

Can't wait! Teach us your ways. haha! This was more of a camping trip but we look forward to real overlanding.
Family pics were great!
Thanks!

It's the most relaxed we've been in a while. :)
Love it! more fun and a closer family unit. Have fun. Thanks.
We really had a great time. Thanks for watching!
Halfway through first video: subscribed! Looking to catch up on previous adventures.
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you have:)
Very cool
Thx
Thanks for sharing your adventure! Yes, tent camping seems like a lot more work but, everyone pitched in and looked to have a great time. 😘🖖🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
So true! Surprisingly we had very little fighting too. Weird! Haha. It was a good trip.
Wow-ah... I want to go Camping (imma scaredy-cat) .. but this inspires me to look further
Great adventures
Indeed!
What a fun time!
Yes it was! Thanks for watching
Wow beautiful
Lol. I knew this was an AZ video when I heard how excited you were about the temp!!!🌡🔥😂
Great video ❤❤❤
Haha! So true
It's a start
Oh my gosh! I can’t believe how much the kids have grown!!! Terrific family! I just admire you guys so much!
Aw thanks! They are growing so fast! It's like I blinked and I had teenagers
wow. You guys did good! It’s just me, hubby, & dog. I pack a roof rack, the truck, and hitch cart for our wood. That view was amazing! day & night. Thanks for sharing
haha! Thanks! Camping is a whole new world of "what did we forget to bring." haha
get a small 5x8 cargo trailer
Been thinking of that option too. :)
Where is this place at? New to camping sites trying different places in flag. Thanks!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL 😍!!!!+
It really is. We couldn't even capture it's full beauty.
Coffee and bacon! Now that's living!
exactly!
Fair enough! I agree that it's better when you have other intentions aside from camping alone.

Not creepy! Haha. In the Jeep there isn't enough room for Cinder at the kids feet but we totally ride that way in the truck. 😀

@@sweetestpea3 aw how sweet! We have a fur mama too. I'm pretty sure she thinks the kids are hers. I love how she tucks them all in at night.
😊
Thanks for watching!
where do you clean your bodies? River or creek maybe.
Um, back home in the shower. 🤷
LOL Although, we did go swimming in the creek so....there's that.
Morning is Revile, not taps 🤣
Yes I couldn't remember in the moment. Only that the night was taps. We didn't hear anything in the morning sadly but taps at night is absolutely beautiful
Next time bring some cheap solar lights , like dollar tree.
Great idea! We actually have a string of solar lights that we used with the rig but forgot them.
