It's so damn cool how a character with the power of darkness works in the shadows. It's narratively and conceptually genius. Edit (since everyone wants to argue): Typically, shadow characters are sneaky/elusive to the other characters in the story, not to the readers. Oda went one step further with Teach and made him completely blend into the shadows. He is quite literally darkness and, much like we don't know what is in the darkness, we the readers don't know anything about Teach or what his true end goal is. Teach is the perfect contrast to Luffy, a character that: symbolises the sun (light), doesn't scheme, and says everything out loud.

A common theory is that devil fruit users can't go to Laughtale. This is why Toki and Buggy got sick before they got there, who were also the only devil fruit users in Rodger's crew. This is also why Shanks and his crew don't use devil fruits. Oda also uses numbers as puns in his story. You can google all the puns, but Blackbeard's bounty is Blackbeard's new bounty is 3.996 Billion Berries.3 is San 9 is Ko. 6 is Roku. Blackbeard's bounty reads as San kokoro(ku) which means 3 Hearts/Souls. We put this together, I think Blackbeard is going to steal Luffy's fruit, so Blackbeard will have the strongest Zoan, Logia, and Paramecia. He will go to Laughtale only to find out he can't go anymore. Imagine how ironic that would be. He spent so much time collecting devil fruits to make himself stronger to find the One Piece, only for him and his crew unable to get passed the finish line. This will also let Luffy get the One Piece.
Honestly I think you taking buggy and tomi being sick to go to laugh tale a little too far. I don't think its that deep until we get closer to it. Like, imagine not letting Nico Robin know the history of the world? That would be quite a punch in the gut for her story arc. Also a DF only spawns when the user die so uh, Luffy losing his DF means hes kinda ded.

Always has been. From the first time we saw him. His fight vs Ace has a lot of lore in it actually. He tells Ace "join my crew and help me TAKE OVER THE WORLD" which shows he was always planning to become king of the world. Then later in the fight he also says "let's see which is stronger the SUN or the DARKNESS" which obviously connects to Sun god Nika. And he is also the first character in the series to speak about DREAMS as a tangible real thing that drives the world, and we know how central dreams have become in the story now. In Road to Laughtale special chapter in the manga Oda tells us straight up he is the inheritor of the will of Rocks D. Xebec and wants to become king of the world. For him to complete his character arc he has to go through Imu at some point. I see him coming in during the final war and taking the empty throne and announcing himself the new king of the world with all 3 ancient weapons and an army of pacifistas at his disposal. Nobody will be able to oppose him except Luffy, who will be the one to liberate the world from his tyrannical rule.
All up to Oda. Right now Blackbeard is more of a theory compared to Imu, Shanks, and Dragon. For some reason and after the fight with Kaido strikes me odd. Why did Shanks not meet with Luffy and why did he say to get the One Piece? It shows Oda is hiding something. Also notice how silent Shanks been so far? I think at the last minute, Shanks will reveal everything to Luffy at the end of it all, just to betray him at the final moment. I'm thinking that Shanks will likely be that secret Final Boss you never expect to be. Maybe there's a grudge Shanks holds to Roger. It's also to be expected early on in the story could've went differently. I think Ace was added into the story as if Shanks was captured, it would make sense Luffy would do anything to save Shanks but then the story be too Short. Shanks right now not only has to fight Kidd but then he has to fight Bartholomew for burning the Red Haired Pirates Flag. Like the start, Shanks is definite well deserved at end game.
I really hope he fights imu so we know what power level we are dealing with, its a lot easier to show off a villains power when they're not fighting the protagonists who are supposed to win in the end
Perfectly encapsulated what I thought of Blackbeard and why Blackbeard is so good. I like how you touched on Blackbeard's weaker aspects like his cowardice or pathetic moments, really made him stand out more to me compared to the other villains. Blackbeard is also not necessarily evil, which I like a lot.

Being a foil =/= being a good final villain. The finak villain's defeat should bring finality to the protsgonist's arc, and BB does not do that for Luffy in any meaningful sense. BB will not be the final villain.

Shanks is the only person who could adequately fulfill that role, and the only character who can adequately fulfill the role of the oppsition to Luffy's underlying ethic of freedom is Imu. Yeah I find it kind of odd how so many people think Imu will be the final villain. Imu themselves is obviously worried about Blackbeard. That scene with the stabbed pictures kind of says it all. Those are the individuals that will lead to the governments fall. As Whitebeard says: "A man will arise who will challenge the world, shouldering centuries of history." He then tells Teech that he's not the man Roger was waiting for. Because Roger is waiting for the Dawn. Not just the fall of government. Luffy and Blackbeard are both men of destiny fated to change the world. One is messianic the other is the devil. One will bring the Dawn the other an even greater Darkness. And it will all be decided with an old fashioned mano y mano pirate duel atop the grand line. People point out that they are likely to fight over the One Piece and the title of Pirate King but I don't think Teech wants the One Piece, he wants the World and if he does want the one piece it's only as a means to help him reach his true goal.
I'm still not sold on the idea that Zebek is the villain at god valley, especially with what the WG were doing there. Zebek coukd be seen as playing the part of a proto revolutionary army before Dragon begins the freedom fighters, maybe even inspiring Dragon as he takes Iva, Kuma, and Ginny under his wing. Dragon could even be a member of Rocks during God Valley seeing as he shares ideals of utopia like other former memebers

Blackbeard's lineage is probably either related to Kuma, or maybe a lineage wiped out by the gorosei that can hold more than one power of a devil fruit making them another threat to imu hence erasing them from History

I’m a firm believer that Blackbeard will make a move against luffy but lose (or at least have his plan foiled). Then AFTER luffy beats Blackbeard, there will be the big race to laughtale and the one piece, with the final war against the world government doing what the can to stop them. Cross guild would fight alongside the straw hats in an enemy of my enemy situation (I believe the revolutionaries would be involved somehow but not in the main group). Then directly after the defeat of the world government and the path to laugh tale opened, Blackbeard will return with a sneak attack to take out the weakened straw hats and cross guild at the same time to claim the one piece (I believe the fight would take place either on laugh tale or right before it). I also believe after Blackbeard is beat, the straw hats and cross guild we arrive at the one piece (or the main spot at laugh tale) at the same time and luffy wanting to stay “free” would let buggy take the credit for defeating the world government and claiming the one piece, ending the series with Buggy as the King of the Pirates. (Sorry about the paragraph to the maybe 2 people that read this)
Teach will get his karma when having too much greedy and power will get him hammer in the water very poetic. The fight for one piece is going be big. The battle toward the wg is be the biggest battle stated by whitebeard that one piece is found big war will occur. Cross guild buggy want too beat shank and the last few people in the throne war in race to get the one piece. We believe who be the next pirate king mostly buggy like you said will take the credit.
I hope Maynard plays a role in Blackbeard's death. My guess is after Joyboy-mode Luffy defeats BB, Maynard will show up with some sea prism weapons to finish him off or something & collect his bounty.
i hope maynard is present for the final conflict with blackbeard but i dont want him to be the one to kill him or anything. maybe at most he has a cool moment where hes able to seriously wound blackbeard ala buccaneer stabbing bradley in fma, but i think giving him the final blow would just be shoehorning the real life connection in and would be unnatural and unsatisfying. if maynard was an actual character in the story and not just a barely memorable tertiary character in dressrosa who got defeated by bartolomeo of all people, i'd feel differently.
Plot twist: Black Beard genuinely joins the Stawhats off screen and it's never quested. He has this MASSIVE offscreen redemption arc only Luffy knows about. Then the final villain is Buggy who somehow even more nerfed than when Luffy first fought him. I can honestly say, if this happened no one would see it coming.

Bb is contestent for Final villain until Imu identity and his past gets revealed because the major villains in series is WG and we also luffy dream is something else. , becoming Pirate King is just a way to fulfill it
When you really think about it, Blackbeard is the only character that can be the final boss of One Piece for one simple reason: The very nature of him and Luffy for when inevitably the two reach Laugh Tale after the sidequest that is Imu. It's a fight between the ideals of Piracy and what it truly means to be a free man and pirate in the world. And whoever wins, gets to decide how piracy and the like will be like for all eternity after.
BB being the final villain makes sense. I can not argue with someone who believes that narrative plot thread. At the same time, I can not argue with people who believe IMU or Shanks will be Luffy's last fight either. All 3 have strong narrative build ups and reasons as to why it would be them as the final obstacle for Luffy's dream. IMU, despite being introduced VERY LATE, is the being that represents everything Luffy is against, whereas Luffy wants Freedom. Something BB desires too. Shanks is the whole reason why Luffy became a Pirate to begin with and literally gave him the Strawhat that went on the define Luffy's name, philosophy and entire journey. BlackBeard is the Dark version of Luffy. He started off 'mid strength' and we also see him get more and more powerful with each act or arc that goes by. When all these 4 characters are destined to clash, we'd know that it will be the clash that will feature the ultimate peak of power in the One Piece world. Only guy that would be missing from that is Kaido, but he already served his poprpuse as the arc villain that awakened Luffy to reach the level he needs to climb to the title of Pirate King.
Imu is literally responsible for void century, for flooding the world, for killing joyboy plus being the reason why the world is as it is right now. The stakes are much higher when fighting imu, than another pirate who's a darker version of Luffy.😊
Bruh ofc he’s going to the the final villain. It’s been a guarantee since marineford. Unless Oda turns into a terrible story teller it has to be BB as the final bad guy.
My general prediction for the last arcs flow is -> Elbaf and Shanks stuff -> Final Fight with Marines/WG and Imu -> Threeway fight for One Piece between Cross Guild, Strawhats, and Blackbeard (Shanks maybe depending on how Elbaf goes) -> One Piece is found and series ends. Even this is still really clunky. Going from Elbaf and having nearly all the Road Ponyglphs and answers all the way back to the Red Line just to fight WG and come back? Even if someone was captured or something it’d still feel like a pretty big pace breaker unless it tied into getting the one piece (maybe WG captures burn scar man as well and gets the last road ponyglyph?)
I'm assuming that the WG will come to the Strawhats rather than the other way around, since the Gorosei have already shown some kind of demon-like travel ability that's even faster than Kuma's paws. Also, the end of the last chapter showed 4 more of those demonic trails landing next to the Gorosei who's already on the island...

Now tbf about you mentioning imu at the end, we really don't know anything about Imu yet except that it has knowledge about what happened 800 years ago. Give Oda time and I am sure we will learn a LOT more surrounding Imu. You never know, Imu could be part of BBs unknown lineage

I agree. It’s too perfect narratively. Ever since Gear 5, I’ve had this image in my head of the final fight. Blackbeard, surrounded by a massive cloud of darkness and ascending upwards. And Luffy, descending from the sky and radiating sunlight all around him. Just the thought of it makes me hyped af.
With Blackbeard having a strange body: I have this head cannon that Blackbeard is a conjoined triplet. My interpretation is that explain Blackbeard’s teeth/Personality changing: When his teeth change its when one of the siblings taking control of the body ( this explains why he doesn’t sleep, as the other siblings do the sleeping for him).
Who exactly thought Blackbeard wasn’t the final villain? Started out as a nobody and managed the unthinkable, obtaining two devil fruit without dying. It’s been foreshadowing after they first met. Both Luffy and Zoro picked up that Blackbeard is odd.
The minute he was introduced it was clear what Oda was setting him up for. I was so excited by the way he was introduced and what that meant for the story. I agree that he will be the final villain. At the end of it all, amongst the ruins of the old world, two pirates will have a Mano y Mano duel to decide the fate of the world. The continuation of the darkness or the coming of the dawn.
Another important detail to remember is that back when one piece was intended to only be 5 years long, the end goal boss was suppose to be powerful pirates named Yonko. With the extra time Oda was able to expand on concepts of corrupt government. I also feel that the swordsman on BB crew is responsible for Mihawks troubling past.
So this is what is going to happen. While Dragon is fighting Imu. BB is going to come in and attack them both KOing them both or Imu will beat Dragon and BB comes in and KO Imu. Then Luffy will then fight BB for control of the title of Pirate King and he will most likely break the Red Line in some way due to this fight. Thus creating All Blue and finding the True One Piece.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m sure it’s an essay on why this guy wants black beard to be the final villain because it’s what he wants and not what’s good for the ending of one piece. Imu has seen Blackbeard before, Blackbeard has never seen Imu(as far as we’d know) Imu is the antagonist of the story of one Piece, while Teach is an antagonist in one piece. I feel like if luffy's D turn out to stand for Dawn, blackbeard's D will stand for Darkness or Dusk. He probably wants to create a world of pirates with him at the top where only who he considers strong survive. He doesn't like the world government but instead of trying to take them down he wants to take over their power. So while luffy is the Dawn of a sunny, happier and free world, blackbeard is the dusk to an eternal night of fighting and everyone out for themselves
One thing I've been thinking recently: There's been theories on him having "3 souls" or something similar, main pieces of evidence being: His jolly rodger being 3 skulls Having multiple Devil Fruits Never sleeping In his introduction, Luffy and Zoro saying "not him, them..." (I'm paraphrasing. And personally I don't think that specific moment was referencing that as it would be a very very very early use of them having observation Haki but regardless) One thing I'm wondering is if he'll get a 3rd Devil Fruit. If so, I'm imagining it's a Zoan. I'm wondering what exactly it would be? Right now, my best guess is that it's gonna be a fruit that mirrors Luffy being the Sun God, and it'll be the fruit Xebec had. My only other guess is maybe Kaido's? But that would feel a bit underwhelming.
I at this point am imagining the Straw Hats encountering Imu at some point in the final battle, they talk about their plans and how they intend to fulfill, building up to some huge conflict, then Blackbeard will come in at the last minute, kill them and take whatever powers they have, and become Luffy’s final boss. That may sound anticlimactic, but it sounds fitting for the kind of person Blackbeard is.

Blackbeard is the son of imu. It kinda makes sense on why Blackbeard was obsessed with the "Dark dark fruit" because he is the bastard child of imu and imu left him when he saw blackbeard didnt carry his darkness lineage. It striked a revenge for Blackbeard to overthrow Imu. I feel like it's more likely to be Imu vs BB, than Luffy vs Imu. I feel like black beard is heading to marijoa right now because the 5 elders are all on egghead and it's a perfect chance for blackbeard to strike. That's my theory

It makes sense for the final enemy of the Sun God to be a being of pure darkness, both of whom being fueled by dreams in a figurative and potentially literal sense. It all just tracks. My hypothesis is that the two of them are gonna both be squaring up against Imu at the same time and defeat it together, showcasing their shared qualities and parallels, before turning on each other in one last climactic showdown for the crown. Kinda like the end of Zatch Bell if you've read that manga, two enemies from the beginning team up against an apocalyptic monster before having one last duel for the fate of the world.
I think your right about Blackbeard just asking for the fruit, Thatch would have given him. I mean the guy's been on the crew for years and seems to be a well liked guy, I'm sure he would let him have it if it was so important to him. It just shows how quickly he is willing to throw his friends and all bonds away for his dream.
I feel like with the way Oda tells the story, I wouldn't be surprised if Blackbeard has some really goofy but awesome explanation as to why he doesn't sleep
With gear 5 we learn something interesting. Luffy has the Sun God fruit, while Teach has Darkness. Once awakened he might control even the concept of void itself. Basically the final battle is literally light versus darkness.
For a few years I was sure it was gonna be Imu. Head of the oppressive world government. But recent developments (and ofc the points you talked about) convinced me again that it's gonna be Blackbeard. He's the anti Luffy and his main rival for Pirate King and finding the One piece. And it's kinda crazy how he was introduced, but it works so well considering who he is
You also didn't mention how Teach is the most quintessential Pirate in his design too. Plus his raid on Drum Island at the start of the Grandline. In a series about pirates, he is the most pirate-ty. He's based on one of the most famous pirates of all time. We stand by the Blackbeard Pirates in this house... since 2005
"Blackbeard is the final villain" This statement comes from thinking that pirate King is still the end all be all and he character wise is the best fit but that doesn't take into a count the rest of story. Him being the final villain would waste a ton of build up.
My theory, is 4thCommander thatch had really ate the fruit. Remember bb spent years on WB ship, bb knew if he’d found it he would eat it, and if someone had found it he’d take it and if someone had already eaten it he new he would have to kill them to get it. But fate is cruel, not only did someone else already found/ate the dark dark fruit, but that person was in his crew even a friend. So bb had 2 option give up on his dreams and let thatch keep the fruit or kill him and take it. Bb choose the former, and jump ship.
Blackbeard is truly a visionary yeah he seems like a big doofus but he’s a tenacious demon that’s goal oriented. It’s something you can actually respect . Also he’s the really meticulous he works smarter not harder . Blackbeard is going down in history as one of the greatest anime villains of all time
I think he's the final foe in a similar way to Lost Judgement's final boss. - Imu is the immediate, bigger threat that involves a conspiracy. - Blackbeard is the thematic opponent who isn't as threatening to the world at large, but is the opposite of the hero in how they achieve the same final goal.
I disagree, I think taking down imu and the world government is the last battle. Only the king of the pirates can defeat Imu. It also seems like the bigger battle/final mission/end of the story because most likely the whole straw hat grand fleet, revolutionary army and maybe even sword will come to join, making it the biggest battle. And closes out the series with the whole world being free. Blackbeard vs luffy will most likely happen at laughtale, where they’ll decide who’s king of the pirates. This battle fulfills luffy a dream of becoming king of the pirates, but his bigger purpose that helps/saves the world is toppling the world government so that seems more important. I can’t imagine having such a huge war bringing in the straw hat grand fleet, revolutionary army, sword, beating the world government then going and defeating Blackbeard after, that would seem tiny after such a huge war.
I think Luffy and Blackbeard will reluctantly team up to defeat Imu and Shirahoshi will be heavily involved afterwards, the throne is for the taking. I think the big war will already be commencing by the time Luffy and Blackbeard get to Imu. Imu stabbing those pictures HAD to mean something important which is why I think so

Maybe he knows about Imu and wants access to Marijois to kill him and take his powers (like he did with whitebeard). After all, he wants to be king of the world just like Rocks and Imu basically is the king of the world. I'm guessing Rocks (and now Blackbeard) knew of the existence of Imu.
I once heard that Oda is setting up a final showdown with a classic storytelling device called "The hero, the mirror and the other". I tried googling it but didn't find anything. Basially in storytelling you often find this trope over and over again. In Naruto Shippuden, it's Naruto, Sasuke and Kaguya, with Naruto as the hero, Sasuke as the mirror, and Kaguya as the other. The mirror obviously is a dark reflection of the protagonist, a what-if scenario. Sasuke is just like Naruto in many ways, he is an orphan and no one understands him so he feels isolated. He just chooses a different path and ends up as an antagonist for most of the series. Kaguya however represents a larger than life enemy that is so foreign to the protagonist that it contrasts with everything familiar to them. In One Piece, this represents Luffy as the hero, Blackbeard as Luffy's mirror, and Imu as "the other". I could mention more examples but I think you get the point.
Blackbeard did not want to capture Ace, he went to recruit him. Van Auger is the one that initiated the fight with Ace, Blackbeard’s crew will be his ultimate downfall.
If teach showed an interest in buying or getting the fruit Thatch or someone would have definitely asked questions, which i feel would cause more issues for BB and it would be harder for him to get. If he offered to trade for it Thatch would have been interested in why he wanted it so much as buying it clearly means he thinks he could sell it for more, or he wants to eat it. "Why would he want this specific fruit? i wonder what it does? oh shit its THAT fruit? yeh hes not having that, better see what WB thinks. It's so damn cool how a character with the power of darkness works in the shadows. It's narratively and conceptually genius. Edit (since everyone wants to argue): Typically, shadow characters are sneaky/elusive to the other characters in the story, not to the readers. Oda went one step further with Teach and made him completely blend into the shadows. He is quite literally darkness and, much like we don't know what is in the darkness, we the readers don't know anything about Teach or what his true end goal is. Teach is the perfect contrast to Luffy, a character that: symbolises the sun (light), doesn't scheme, and says everything out loud.
I mean, not to say Oda isn't a genius, but a character with a dark power being a dark and shady person is a pretty basic concept not really genius

We put this together, I think Blackbeard is going to steal Luffy's fruit, so Blackbeard will have the strongest Zoan, Logia, and Paramecia. He will go to Laughtale only to find out he can't go anymore. Imagine how ironic that would be. He spent so much time collecting devil fruits to make himself stronger to find the One Piece, only for him and his crew unable to get passed the finish line. This will also let Luffy get the One Piece.

Always has been. From the first time we saw him. His fight vs Ace has a lot of lore in it actually. He tells Ace "join my crew and help me TAKE OVER THE WORLD" which shows he was always planning to become king of the world. Then later in the fight he also says "let's see which is stronger the SUN or the DARKNESS" which obviously connects to Sun god Nika. And he is also the first character in the series to speak about DREAMS as a tangible real thing that drives the world, and we know how central dreams have become in the story now. In Road to Laughtale special chapter in the manga Oda tells us straight up he is the inheritor of the will of Rocks D. Xebec and wants to become king of the world. For him to complete his character arc he has to go through Imu at some point. I see him coming in during the final war and taking the empty throne and announcing himself the new king of the world with all 3 ancient weapons and an army of pacifistas at his disposal. Nobody will be able to oppose him except Luffy, who will be the one to liberate the world from his tyrannical rule.
All up to Oda. Right now Blackbeard is more of a theory compared to Imu, Shanks, and Dragon. For some reason and after the fight with Kaido strikes me odd. Why did Shanks not meet with Luffy and why did he say to get the One Piece? It shows Oda is hiding something. Also notice how silent Shanks been so far? I think at the last minute, Shanks will reveal everything to Luffy at the end of it all, just to betray him at the final moment. I'm thinking that Shanks will likely be that secret Final Boss you never expect to be. Maybe there's a grudge Shanks holds to Roger. It's also to be expected early on in the story could've went differently. I think Ace was added into the story as if Shanks was captured, it would make sense Luffy would do anything to save Shanks but then the story be too Short.
Shanks right now not only has to fight Kidd but then he has to fight Bartholomew for burning the Red Haired Pirates Flag.
Like the start, Shanks is definite well deserved at end game.
I really hope he fights imu so we know what power level we are dealing with, its a lot easier to show off a villains power when they're not fighting the protagonists who are supposed to win in the end
Perfectly encapsulated what I thought of Blackbeard and why Blackbeard is so good. I like how you touched on Blackbeard's weaker aspects like his cowardice or pathetic moments, really made him stand out more to me compared to the other villains. Blackbeard is also not necessarily evil, which I like a lot.

Being a foil =/= being a good final villain. The finak villain's defeat should bring finality to the protsgonist's
arc, and BB does not do that for Luffy in any meaningful sense. BB will not be the final villain.

its probably just early installment weirdness (especially since haki as a concept was not fleshed out in the slightest in jaya so observation haki might have not existed beyond mantra as a skypiea-exclusive power) but i really hope that lafitte sneaking into mariejois has big payoff.

Yeah I find it kind of odd how so many people think Imu will be the final villain. Imu themselves is obviously worried about Blackbeard. That scene with the stabbed pictures kind of says it all. Those are the individuals that will lead to the governments fall.

He then tells Teech that he's not the man Roger was waiting for.
Because Roger is waiting for the Dawn. Not just the fall of government.
Luffy and Blackbeard are both men of destiny fated to change the world. One is messianic the other is the devil.
One will bring the Dawn the other an even greater Darkness. And it will all be decided with an old fashioned mano y mano pirate duel atop the grand line.
People point out that they are likely to fight over the One Piece and the title of Pirate King but I don't think Teech wants the One Piece, he wants the World and if he does want the one piece it's only as a means to help him reach his true goal.

I'm still not sold on the idea that Zebek is the villain at god valley, especially with what the WG were doing there. Zebek coukd be seen as playing the part of a proto revolutionary army before Dragon begins the freedom fighters, maybe even inspiring Dragon as he takes Iva, Kuma, and Ginny under his wing.
Dragon could even be a member of Rocks during God Valley seeing as he shares ideals of utopia like other former memebers

I’m a firm believer that Blackbeard will make a move against luffy but lose (or at least have his plan foiled). Then AFTER luffy beats Blackbeard, there will be the big race to laughtale and the one piece, with the final war against the world government doing what the can to stop them. Cross guild would fight alongside the straw hats in an enemy of my enemy situation (I believe the revolutionaries would be involved somehow but not in the main group). Then directly after the defeat of the world government and the path to laugh tale opened, Blackbeard will return with a sneak attack to take out the weakened straw hats and cross guild at the same time to claim the one piece (I believe the fight would take place either on laugh tale or right before it). I also believe after Blackbeard is beat, the straw hats and cross guild we arrive at the one piece (or the main spot at laugh tale) at the same time and luffy wanting to stay “free” would let buggy take the credit for defeating the world government and claiming the one piece, ending the series with Buggy as the King of the Pirates. (Sorry about the paragraph to the maybe 2 people that read this)
Teach will get his karma when having too much greedy and power will get him hammer in the water very poetic. The fight for one piece is going be big. The battle toward the wg is be the biggest battle stated by whitebeard that one piece is found big war will occur. Cross guild buggy want too beat shank and the last few people in the throne war in race to get the one piece. We believe who be the next pirate king mostly buggy like you said will take the credit.

i hope maynard is present for the final conflict with blackbeard but i dont want him to be the one to kill him or anything. maybe at most he has a cool moment where hes able to seriously wound blackbeard ala buccaneer stabbing bradley in fma, but i think giving him the final blow would just be shoehorning the real life connection in and would be unnatural and unsatisfying. if maynard was an actual character in the story and not just a barely memorable tertiary character in dressrosa who got defeated by bartolomeo of all people, i'd feel differently.
Plot twist: Black Beard genuinely joins the Stawhats off screen and it's never quested. He has this MASSIVE offscreen redemption arc only Luffy knows about. Then the final villain is Buggy who somehow even more nerfed than when Luffy first fought him. I can honestly say, if this happened no one would see it coming.
The ultimate clash between the one who walks proudly in the light, declaring his dream to the heavens in challenge to any who would dare stand in his way on his path to realizing it, and the one who lurks in the shadows, biding his time while amassing his strength to realize his ambitions and claim everything for his own... All of it, foreshadowed what feels like a lifetime ago, when the dark one spoke those fateful words to the brother of the one who walks in the light of day, as though as a prophecy of their future clash that would come.

I'm sorry Impel but I am going to have to correct you on 2:50 as Luffy and Buggy was actually the first meeting of two future emperors.
When you really think about it, Blackbeard is the only character that can be the final boss of One Piece for one simple reason: The very nature of him and Luffy for when inevitably the two reach Laugh Tale after the sidequest that is Imu. It's a fight between the ideals of Piracy and what it truly means to be a free man and pirate in the world. And whoever wins, gets to decide how piracy and the like will be like for all eternity after.
At this point the one piece seems to be the sidequest and freeing the world the true final goal
BB being the final villain makes sense. I can not argue with someone who believes that narrative plot thread. At the same time, I can not argue with people who believe IMU or Shanks will be Luffy's last fight either. All 3 have strong narrative build ups and reasons as to why it would be them as the final obstacle for Luffy's dream. IMU, despite being introduced VERY LATE, is the being that represents everything Luffy is against, whereas Luffy wants Freedom. Something BB desires too. Shanks is the whole reason why Luffy became a Pirate to begin with and literally gave him the Strawhat that went on the define Luffy's name, philosophy and entire journey. BlackBeard is the Dark version of Luffy. He started off 'mid strength' and we also see him get more and more powerful with each act or arc that goes by. When all these 4 characters are destined to clash, we'd know that it will be the clash that will feature the ultimate peak of power in the One Piece world. Only guy that would be missing from that is Kaido, but he already served his poprpuse as the arc villain that awakened Luffy to reach the level he needs to climb to the title of Pirate King.
Imu is literally responsible for void century, for flooding the world, for killing joyboy plus being the reason why the world is as it is right now.
The stakes are much higher when fighting imu, than another pirate who's a darker version of Luffy.😊

Unless Oda turns into a terrible story teller it has to be BB as the final bad guy.
My general prediction for the last arcs flow is -> Elbaf and Shanks stuff -> Final Fight with Marines/WG and Imu -> Threeway fight for One Piece between Cross Guild, Strawhats, and Blackbeard (Shanks maybe depending on how Elbaf goes) -> One Piece is found and series ends. Even this is still really clunky. Going from Elbaf and having nearly all the Road Ponyglphs and answers all the way back to the Red Line just to fight WG and come back? Even if someone was captured or something it’d still feel like a pretty big pace breaker unless it tied into getting the one piece (maybe WG captures burn scar man as well and gets the last road ponyglyph?)
I'm assuming that the WG will come to the Strawhats rather than the other way around, since the Gorosei have already shown some kind of demon-like travel ability that's even faster than Kuma's paws.
Also, the end of the last chapter showed 4 more of those demonic trails landing next to the Gorosei who's already on the island...

Now tbf about you mentioning imu at the end, we really don't know anything about Imu yet except that it has knowledge about what happened 800 years ago. Give Oda time and I am sure we will learn a LOT more surrounding Imu. You never know, Imu could be part of BBs unknown lineage

I agree. It’s too perfect narratively. Ever since Gear 5, I’ve had this image in my head of the final fight. Blackbeard, surrounded by a massive cloud of darkness and ascending upwards. And Luffy, descending from the sky and radiating sunlight all around him. Just the thought of it makes me hyped af.
With Blackbeard having a strange body: I have this head cannon that Blackbeard is a conjoined triplet. My interpretation is that explain Blackbeard’s teeth/Personality changing: When his teeth change its when one of the siblings taking control of the body ( this explains why he doesn’t sleep, as the other siblings do the sleeping for him).

Started out as a nobody and managed the unthinkable, obtaining two devil fruit without dying. It’s been foreshadowing after they first met. Both Luffy and Zoro picked up that Blackbeard is odd.

Another important detail to remember is that back when one piece was intended to only be 5 years long, the end goal boss was suppose to be powerful pirates named Yonko. With the extra time Oda was able to expand on concepts of corrupt government. I also feel that the swordsman on BB crew is responsible for Mihawks troubling past.

So this is what is going to happen. While Dragon is fighting Imu. BB is going to come in and attack them both KOing them both or Imu will beat Dragon and BB comes in and KO Imu.
Then Luffy will then fight BB for control of the title of Pirate King and he will most likely break the Red Line in some way due to this fight. Thus creating All Blue and finding the True One Piece.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m sure it’s an essay on why this guy wants black beard to be the final villain because it’s what he wants and not what’s good for the ending of one piece. Imu has seen Blackbeard before, Blackbeard has never seen Imu(as far as we’d know) Imu is the antagonist of the story of one Piece, while Teach is an antagonist in one piece. I feel like if luffy's D turn out to stand for Dawn, blackbeard's D will stand for Darkness or Dusk. He probably wants to create a world of pirates with him at the top where only who he considers strong survive. He doesn't like the world government but instead of trying to take them down he wants to take over their power. So while luffy is the Dawn of a sunny, happier and free world, blackbeard is the dusk to an eternal night of fighting and everyone out for themselves
One thing I've been thinking recently:
There's been theories on him having "3 souls" or something similar, main pieces of evidence being:
His jolly rodger being 3 skulls
Having multiple Devil Fruits
Never sleeping
In his introduction, Luffy and Zoro saying "not him, them..." (I'm paraphrasing. And personally I don't think that specific moment was referencing that as it would be a very very very early use of them having observation Haki but regardless)
One thing I'm wondering is if he'll get a 3rd Devil Fruit. If so, I'm imagining it's a Zoan. I'm wondering what exactly it would be?
Right now, my best guess is that it's gonna be a fruit that mirrors Luffy being the Sun God, and it'll be the fruit Xebec had. My only other guess is maybe Kaido's? But that would feel a bit underwhelming.
I at this point am imagining the Straw Hats encountering Imu at some point in the final battle, they talk about their plans and how they intend to fulfill, building up to some huge conflict, then Blackbeard will come in at the last minute, kill them and take whatever powers they have, and become Luffy’s final boss. That may sound anticlimactic, but it sounds fitting for the kind of person Blackbeard is.

It makes sense for the final enemy of the Sun God to be a being of pure darkness, both of whom being fueled by dreams in a figurative and potentially literal sense. It all just tracks. My hypothesis is that the two of them are gonna both be squaring up against Imu at the same time and defeat it together, showcasing their shared qualities and parallels, before turning on each other in one last climactic showdown for the crown. I think your right about Blackbeard just asking for the fruit, Thatch would have given him. I mean the guy's been on the crew for years and seems to be a well liked guy, I'm sure he would let him have it if it was so important to him. It just shows how quickly he is willing to throw his friends and all bonds away for his dream.
It's hard for me to say this, but when Blackbeard and Luffy fight, I don't think Luffy will pull it off.

With gear 5 we learn something interesting. Luffy has the Sun God fruit, while Teach has Darkness. Once awakened he might control even the concept of void itself.
Basically the final battle is literally light versus darkness.

For a few years I was sure it was gonna be Imu. Head of the oppressive world government. But recent developments (and ofc the points you talked about) convinced me again that it's gonna be Blackbeard. He's the anti Luffy and his main rival for Pirate King and finding the One piece. And it's kinda crazy how he was introduced, but it works so well considering who he is
But after the entire Nika/joyboy awakening, it's clear that imu will be the final villain as he's anti--joyboy

You also didn't mention how Teach is the most quintessential Pirate in his design too. Plus his raid on Drum Island at the start of the Grandline. In a series about pirates, he is the most pirate-ty. He's based on one of the most famous pirates of all time.

This statement comes from thinking that pirate King is still the end all be all and he character wise is the best fit but that doesn't take into a count the rest of story. Him being the final villain would waste a ton of build up.
Black beard is just a normal pirate. Luffy and white beards crew are a total anomaly.

My theory, is 4thCommander thatch had really ate the fruit. Remember bb spent years on WB ship, bb knew if he’d found it he would eat it, and if someone had found it he’d take it and if someone had already eaten it he new he would have to kill them to get it.
But fate is cruel, not only did someone else already found/ate the dark dark fruit, but that person was in his crew even a friend. So bb had 2 option give up on his dreams and let thatch keep the fruit or kill him and take it. Bb choose the former, and jump ship.

Blackbeard is truly a visionary yeah he seems like a big doofus but he’s a tenacious demon that’s goal oriented. It’s something you can actually respect . Also he’s the really meticulous he works smarter not harder . Blackbeard is going down in history as one of the greatest anime villains of all time

I think he's the final foe in a similar way to Lost Judgement's final boss.
- Imu is the immediate, bigger threat that involves a conspiracy.
- Blackbeard is the thematic opponent who isn't as threatening to the world at large, but is the opposite of the hero in how they achieve the same final goal.
I disagree, I think taking down imu and the world government is the last battle. Only the king of the pirates can defeat Imu. It also seems like the bigger battle/final mission/end of the story because most likely the whole straw hat grand fleet, revolutionary army and maybe even sword will come to join, making it the biggest battle. And closes out the series with the whole world being free. Blackbeard vs luffy will most likely happen at laughtale, where they’ll decide who’s king of the pirates. This battle fulfills luffy a dream of becoming king of the pirates, but his bigger purpose that helps/saves the world is toppling the world government so that seems more important. I can’t imagine having such a huge war bringing in the straw hat grand fleet, revolutionary army, sword, beating the world government then going and defeating Blackbeard after, that would seem tiny after such a huge war.
I think Luffy and Blackbeard will reluctantly team up to defeat Imu and Shirahoshi will be heavily involved afterwards, the throne is for the taking. I think the big war will already be commencing by the time Luffy and Blackbeard get to Imu. Imu stabbing those pictures HAD to mean something important which is why I think so

Maybe he knows about Imu and wants access to Marijois to kill him and take his powers (like he did with whitebeard). After all, he wants to be king of the world just like Rocks and Imu basically is the king of the world. I'm guessing Rocks (and now Blackbeard) knew of the existence of Imu.

I once heard that Oda is setting up a final showdown with a classic storytelling device called "The hero, the mirror and the other". I tried googling it but didn't find anything. Basially in storytelling you often find this trope over and over again. In Naruto Shippuden, it's Naruto, Sasuke and Kaguya, with Naruto as the hero, Sasuke as the mirror, and Kaguya as the other. The mirror obviously is a dark reflection of the protagonist, a what-if scenario. Sasuke is just like Naruto in many ways, he is an orphan and no one understands him so he feels isolated. He just chooses a different path and ends up as an antagonist for most of the series. Kaguya however represents a larger than life enemy that is so foreign to the protagonist that it contrasts with everything familiar to them.
In One Piece, this represents Luffy as the hero, Blackbeard as Luffy's mirror, and Imu as "the other". I could mention more examples but I think you get the point.

Blackbeard did not want to capture Ace, he went to recruit him. Van Auger is the one that initiated the fight with Ace, Blackbeard’s crew will be his ultimate downfall.

If teach showed an interest in buying or getting the fruit Thatch or someone would have definitely asked questions, which i feel would cause more issues for BB and it would be harder for him to get. If he offered to trade for it Thatch would have been interested in why he wanted it so much as buying it clearly means he thinks he could sell it for more, or he wants to eat it. "Why would he want this specific fruit? i wonder what it does? oh shit its THAT fruit? yeh hes not having that, better see what WB thinks. "
If the truth of the fruit were revealed earlier i think Thatch would have either eaten it or looked to sell it at a price BB couldnt afford
