For those who may be interested. The software he is using for 3D scanning is called FlexScan3D and the scanner I am pretty sure is the HDI Compact C504 by Polyga

This is a fantastic video, and a great collaboration post. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I started out as a kid interested in Warhammer miniatures as a kid in the 80s and went into prosthetic makeup as a career. Now as I do more digital stuff, I’m finding my interests in miniatures swinging back around! The circle of life, lol.

Excellent stuff, didn't know you could sculpt. Nice to know about that service too. I sculpt and have the mini's cast in metal. This process gives a completely new option. ;)

I mean... It's money... But not like crazy expensive for what it is? I've seen some sculpts/conversions out there, that if creators can resell on ebay, or something, could make it pay for itself...
That's my hope, it wasn't crazy, especially considering the amount of work involved

Es el futuro, actualmente es un poco caro comparado a los sistemas tradicionales de fundicion en metal, resina o plastico pero conforme el sistema avance y se abaraten precios se irá haciendo con su cuota de mercado.
Eso es sólo para obtener un modelo digital y venderlo de esa forma. Para vender de forma física no tiene sentido
Exactamente, conforme las impresoras 3D mejoren y se hagan más populares la venta física de miniaturas perderá terreno frente a la venta de ficheros que tu puedas reproducir en tu casa reduciendo costes de transporte, moldes, etc, a la larga tendrá la calidad y rentabilidad de las figuras más tradicionales, lastima no pillarnos 20 años más jóvenes 😢
Curious to know whether you get any other 3d file format apart from the stl after the scan. Would be a useful service for scanning oop metal miniatures.

That’s stereophotogrametry technics - multiple pictures from different angles to reconstruct the surface and the shape of a feature. We are using the same approach to « scan» the landscape and create digital elevation models. I wonder how the LiDAR captor (laser digitalisation) from the newest IPhones would perform to do the same…
