    Perfect instruction for my 91 Tachoma. Great tip on getting that long ratcheting wrench. Really needed for torque on the lower alternator nut. Nice Sunday morning job. Live in the desert, so idlers were rust free/good still. Thanks.

    Awesome video. I replaced the alternator and battery on this same engine today for my friend 2004 Tacoma 2.7L), but now his car won't start. The engine won't turn over. I changed the alternator because after a long drive earlier this week, the next morning the truck had a really loud squeal which I figured was from the alternator pulley since it was the original (18 years old, battery 6 years old). What do you think the issue is here? Should I just go ahead and replace the idler pulleys and belts, too, or did I just get a lemon alternator (AutoZone reman) or is my alternator belt on too tight? I tried to start it with different tensions on the belt but it just wouldn't turn over!

    Did you somehow lift the truck to get some of this underneath work done?

  • @eddie7319
    @eddie7319 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where do you get your idler pulleys? I bought some drivestar for my 1998 SR5 and the washers don't seem to fit with them. Not sure what to do.

    Does anyone know why the front dust covers are different on the two idler pulleys? I know they came that way but why? The pulleys he is putting on are identical. The pulleys coming off are both different. Wonder why Toyota did that?

    I cant believe how easy this is. I tried doing a timing belt replacement on my 97 civic and it felt like a nightmare lol

    • @aliensubject613
      @aliensubject613 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      these are accessory belts not the timing belt. the 2rz-fe has a timing chain, not a belt. but yeah timing belts are harder jobs

    Is there a way to change just the alternator belt without having to tear them all off?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope. It's behind the other 2 belts.

  • @Taydutt13

    Does anyone have an advice and to why the tension pulley on the middle belt would be such a bitch. Can someone please help

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be stuck. Make sure to loosen the bolt in the middle of the pulley. It was pretty easy on the truck in the video.

    • @Taydutt13
      @Taydutt13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LabCoatPaul yeah that we tried that the bolt on the pulley was rounded of we had to cut belt off which means we have no ac now which is fine cause of the time of year

  • @janetscarbary7073

    Well I just want someone to put out a real video where everything goes wrong and what you do to overcome these obstacles. Like when a belt won't go on no matter how hard you try.

    • @Taydutt13

      The tension pulley on mine up under the compressor (middle belt won't losen at all) any advice?

    You fucked up with non japanese belts on japanese engine. Best belts for Toyota engines are made by Bando, japanese belts. You will see very soon, why.

    • @eddie7319
      @eddie7319 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Bando belts for the same truck say they were made in the USA. Are they Japanese? Thanks.
