I just bought a 2002 Tacoma with 180k miles. I’m glad I discovered your channel, all of these how to videos for the Tacoma are awesome! Thanks man!
Thanks for watching
How much did you buy it for
?
Great video! Changed all 3 belts and had no problems. Thanks.
Thanks for watching
I appreciate the no glove approach when working on my Tacoma as well. Thank you sir!
Thanks for watching
Excellent video....couldn't figure out the AC belt...life saving, thank you sir from an old man in Florida
Glad to help
What time was that on the video. I can’t figure it out
Thanks for this video. Looks like a simple process. Just bought a 02 extended cab Tacoma with 121k. She needs some minor maintenance done but that's to be expected.
That is just getting broken in and it will go much further than that if taken care of.
Thank you so much for this video!! I was able to change my belts with ease, and without any help from my husband
Thanks for watching
Yes it is a simple process, but not necessarily easy. It helped me on my 2000 2.7, 4x4.
The 4x4 you have to take the skid plate off to access underneath. You also helped on what sockets to use. Very good video ;)
Thanks for watching
Thanks for your video it save me a lot of time on my 2.7 liter.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the nice video, I have been looking for a video on how to take the belts off on a 2003 tacoma v6 and you help me a lot especially on how to loosen the tension on those pulleys .
Thanks for watching
THANK YOU: the only video on TH-cam that shows how to replace the belts on a 4-cylinder Toyota
Thanks for watching
This video helped so much. Completed this job today and it helped me bond with my son. Thank you very much.👍

Thanks man👍🏽
Same procedure as 99 2.4L(for others)
Thanks for watching
Very informative video too me about an hour with no trouble at all the only exception is that my truck has a skid plate under the front which I had to remove the no trouble but took a little more time. Thanks again
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the vid! I'm a lot less intimidated by the process now. Looks like I have a project for next weekend.
It's not that hard. Thanks for watching
Great video. Just bought a 2003 Tacoma and watched your video and replaced all three belts
They're great trucks
Thank You for this video! For those who are having issues with the amazon link, here is the part#'s : BANDO; 4PK870, 5PK865, 4PK1080 (3 belts for 2.4L).
Read my mind! Thank you!
@@djski121 these 3 belts are for the 2.4L 4-cyl, the 2.7L 4 cyl uses a different bando kit.
Adam Miller: Awesome! The 2.4L 4-Cyl is what I have.
I'll check the link
Thanks for this, man! Go Toppers!

Pretty good mechanic that can operate wrench's and ratchets with one hand holding a camera KUDOS man.
It's not easy
@@Systemcontroltech Going to do mine today
Oh you make very very easy brother thank you God bless you

Nice video.
Good help made it easy for me
Glad to help.
Very helpful Thanks for the video
Glad to help. Thanks for watching
thank you sir doing mine rn
Good luck
thnx for the walkthrough on replacing the belts. I finally replace the one that keeps on squeaking on the alternator part.
Be sure to recheck the tension in a hundred miles or so.
@@Systemcontroltech will do. unscrewing the alternator was damn difficult to deal with. plus I did it so late that I was rushing it to get it done. I will check again to make sure it's tighten the way it was.
That was very helpful thank you

I really do appreciate it
Your welcome
sir you made my day much easy
Glad to help
Great engine, the 3rz doesn't get enough credit compared to the legendary 22re even though they're very similar. The only major ackilies heel or vulnerability of this engine is the bucket and shim intake / exhaust valve system needs to be checked for proper clearance. About a year ago I adopted a 2000 Tacoma from a neighbor. Frame needed to be rebuilt but other than that it was in great condition. It started to develop a nasty knock and the whole truck would shake and misfire at idle. When a valve goes out adjustment or is leaking/blow-by the check engine light does not appear. So I removed the valve cover put the each cylinder in TDC and found the #1 exhaust valve had 0 clearance between the shim and camshaft lobe which will eventually cause that valve to burnout. Anyways i ended up tearing the head apart replacing 2 valve and doing some math base off all other existing clearances to determine the new shim sizes of the other valaves. If I had checked the valave clearances sooner I could have just popped the old shim out and put the new correct sized one in. It's very easy to check just remove the valve cover out each cylinder in TDC and when the piston is TDC check the clearance if the intake and exhaust valves. #1 exhaust valve is known to go out adjustment and fail first, intake valves run much cooler and do not typically go bad. Sorry for the short story just though I'd speak on somthing I have experience on because you've helped me understand metasys and CCT. There's very little resources for help on these topics and you've been a tremendous contributor.
They're a very good engine.
Thanks

Whoever decided to put skid plates on the 2WD 3rd gen 4Runner needs to be yeeted into the sun! So glad I watched your tutorial. Doing it 2 handed was hard enough, I can't imagine doing it 1 handed while holding a camera like you did!
🤣🤣 I finally managed to get it done. Thanks for watching
Thanks so much

Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
How have them bando belts been working out for you?? Thanks for the video!!!👍🏻
So far so good. After they run for a while you may need to tighten them again
ok i have an 03 prerunner my father got me for my birthday, and i wanted to attempt to fix it myself but im not sure if I need a new tensioner pulley, and all the belts or maybe just the belts, i have the same noises when it idles but in drive is when it becomes a little more noticeable, any tips for making sure guys?
It would be hard to know the exact problem. It's possible that it's the idler but can't be sure
Would a loose/worn belt, keep the alternator from charging the battery? My mechanics scan tool shows the alt. charging at idle, but driving 30 minutes on the Interstate and the battery goes dead. Any other ideas why it would die? Nice video.
A belt slipping could cause it but a bad battery would also cause it. Does your charge lite come on? You could also have a short that's draining it
No engine light, ( 'I hit a deer 10 years ago', but was fixed'), with a new battery it had no power at speed and battery would die in 30-40 minutes. I though it was the cat, since my O2 sensor burned out at 80k,100k, and 120k, so I replaced the cats, muffler, both O2 and map. I can start it everyday for 6 months to get the mail with no problem or short trips are ok. But feel loss of power on interstate trips and battery drains. I don't know why it drains running, but ok sitting, thanks for the reply. My mechanic died last month, but came to the house two months ago, hooked his scan tool and read on his display it was charging the system 13.8v.
Wish I could’ve seen how you make sure the alternator belt is tight mines loose and idk how to get it any tighter
There's an adjuster on it. Simply loosen the adjuster and run down the tension on it.
We don't have Tacomas here in New Zealand but wouldn't it have been easier to remove the fan first? They're usually just a couple of bolts and a connector and getting that out of the way gives you plenty of room in front.
You would need to remove the fan shroud first. It's just as quick to do what I did.
What year is your truck? I have a 2002 2.7L

How to change tensor Toyota tacoma 2002 my friend
They bolt on very easily
I'm having an issue with the alternator pulley spinning while trying to break the bolt loose
Remove the belt and put a strap wrench on it
Will 30 inch tires on this truck effect the truck in anyway?
They would probably rub without a lift
Hilltoppers represent.
Go tops
I noticed you started in the day and finished at night. How long did this take to do?
I started late afternoon and it got dark before I was finished. My camera was terrible in low light
Does thid apply to 2001?
Pretty sure it does.
I heard him say 13 mm socket also needed. correction to the above?
Thanks for watching
Do u torque the locking nuts?
He is not answering so I will. No it's not necessary to torque them.
No
When it starts getting dark but you've got just a little bit more to go to finish the job.
Exactly
I accidentally over tightened and broke a tension bolt but the belt is still tight. How bad is this and can I drive my truck still?????
Depends on if you tighten the bolt that keeps it from loosening up
Are the belts for a 2.4 engine the same as the belts for a 2.7 engine?
I'm not sure about that.
Which year vehicle is this?

What is the belt sizes
I don't remember exactly. They are linked in the description

Yes
I was going to try myself. But idk lol
It's not hard.
