Is the BMW X7 40i a BETTER 3-row luxury SUV than a 2025 Infiniti QX80?

- The X7 is BMW's largest SUV that they sell. On the outside you will a refreshed exterior, new wheels and kidney shaped grill. On the inside you will be greeted by three row versatility and a full leather interior. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the BMW X7 40i a BETTER luxury SUV than a 2025 Infiniti QX80?

It's crazy. Don't matter what type of day I'm having, I can see this guy recently did another vehicle review and I'm not even in the market for a vehicle and it just makes my day better to click on the video. Something about knowing there's another automobile maker who created space for me to place twinkies... it just makes the day better in general. 😎
Right?
Joe making sure no one busts cream in the seat pockets! Always important advice. That lack of AC in the third row is unreal, the lack of ventilated seats up front is insane.
His energy is just great. Presentation on point
That really means so much! Thank you for taking the time to say that!
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph for me, no doubt.
Current 2020 X7 owner (pre facelift). To get the rear seat climate control you need to have the cold weather package. The buttons in the back that lower the 3rd row seats are one-touch, you dont need to hold them.
Anyone looking at one of these. The climate control isnt as powerful as you'd expect, and takes quite a while to cool the interior and if you're thinking of optioning the ventilated seats, dont bother, they are absolutely useless. They dont blow cold air out, they suck warm air in, so theyre trying to suck the heat through your clothes which just doesnt work.
Best car i've ever owned though. Great engine, superb interior, looks great, super quiet.
Owner of a 2020 as well and can confirm that the AC is abysmal. We live in TX. I almost always start the X7 through the app a few minutes before we're ready to leave to give it a head start on cooing down. The ventilated seats do an okay job but woudln't be worth it outside of hot southern states.
I've driven the facelifted model a few times as a loander and can't believe they removed all the buttons. It's substantially harder to make adjustments to normal features (AC, Entertainment, etc.) while driving. They also removed the much-loved customizable row of buttons which was a huge disappointment.
@@benjaminlaudin7384 Same, we live in Texas too. Preconditioning the car before we get in is a must.
Love your work Joe! I bought a 2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium all Black. I was skeptical on choosing trims while buying, and there you are with all the trims reviewed in your channel. It really helped me in buying the correct one. I appreciate your work!
I love my 23 X7 M60i. It’s ALLLLLL black - every option. Carbon fiber was my accent choice. Joe’s older review helped me decide what I wanted! 🖤
That is so wonderful to hear!
I got a 22 x7 40i and I absolutely love it. The newer styling looks great.
Thanks for sharing that ownership insight!
That motorsport package really helps make the car less ugly
This why I come here to watch you 😂😂 my guy said BMW entire. Government name
Thanks man for letting me share it all with you!
I live in affluent town in Connecticut and I’ve seen a lot of these lately. They don’t stand out there very boring looking. I would take the infinity in a second. The outside is unique, very attractive in the outside. The inside is much more comfortable.
Also wanted to add that you can program both parts of the hatch to open at once if you prefer. And that if you hit the close button on the top side it will close both bottom and top.
Definitely i want the X7 40i especially with the b58 engine is gold. One of the few german cars that i can buy it without problem no leasing. But of course i don't mind the Qx80 too . Probably the perfect duo on your garage
Steven, you get love from me today. Appreciate the angles 😉👍👍 Joe (and Lori wherever she is today) always love ✌️
That is so great of you to say! I have the best team!
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
I saw an X7 on CarConfections that had a 5th zone of climate in the ceiling of the 3rd row. Buttons for the heated seats and two 3rd row ac vents were also in the ceiling. Not sure why this one doesn't have any of those features.
Miro always coming with the heat!
Wish BMW would make a proper SUV, rather than beefed up station wagons.
He has the good s for sure!
I don't like the "landing door" as I just want to place items quickly in the cargo area. Also, at a rest stop I can sit there with a beverage. The Kia Telluride is much cheaper with fewer unnecessary gadgets to break over time. The Kia appears to have more room in the 3rd row, but I could be wrong.
Love the simple roof spoiler as is and wiper is in cool place.
I am glad that I can share this one with you!
I just saw the QX80 video and I'd say both are amazing and I want both but I'm a BMW guy and that would be my first go.
Infiniti all day with Design alone. That BMW front seat PoV looks as tight as a BMW Sedan. The whole design is safe. The Infiniti QX80 looks like 2025 and beyond. I'd say your basically just paying for the BMW engine and leather seats. The Infiniti seems like a real experience.
ABSOLUTELY NO ONE OUT THERE REVIEW A VEHICLE WITH AS MUCH EXCITEMENT AS HE DOES!!!
That is so awesome of you to say Ramon. Thank you for your support!
Any plans to review the BMW 3 Series? Thanks for all you do!
I should be in the next few weeks David! Of course my friend.
Just bought a USED 2013 Odyssey w/ 165K miles on it for less than $8500! LOVE IT! BEAT THAT BMW!
The Infiniti looks far better inside and out but I’d still choose the BMW
Why?
@@rafidnasrin2139 more “performance”oriented along with a very solid and proven engine.
@@doggedlydetermined7022 Infinity engines typically have a long lifespan, with my QX60 reaching 380,000 miles without any issues or oil burning. In contrast, BMWs tend to have more problems and will end up costing more money in the long term.
@@doggedlydetermined7022unreliable
The engine in the qx80 is a Nissan VR engine which is the same as the Nissan GTR and that engine is really reliable as well.
I think you misquoted the MSRP at $73,943. More like $93,943. Awesome truck, I want one :)
I was quoting the asking price for this one.
Sorry Joe. I thought it was brand new. Your car reviews are the best. I have always loved nice vehicles, and you help me to really narrow down my choices. My 2 favorite car Manufacturers are BMW and Lexus :)
Love your videos man
I can't do it without you Nick!
I think that hockey puck would have looked better the same color as the grill
ILL TAKE THE INFINITI ALL DAY !!!!!
Sounds like a plan to me!
Cant unsee the last gen Hyundai Santa Fe in this.
I kind of see it sort of.
Amazing review Joe.
Also you can get vents if u get the 5th zone climate option
Infiniti all day. That BMW, imho, is very unattractive - to put it nicely.
I really like this X7, nice design and the interior is exquisite. I just think the third row is kind of useless.
I was very surprised that that model trim is priced at $73K. I was thinking mid $80 to low $90K range. When I got the '19 X5 (X-Line), it was price just under $70K. With the new X7 shown, yeah it unfortunate that there's no connectivity features in the rear and no 3rd row vents. And yes, it would be better to have knobs for the A/C.
I disagree with it being better for the wiper to be concealed above. Sure, it's more aesthetically pleasing, but when it's at the bottom, the semicircle's diameter is near the road, improving visibility.
I have one and some pros and cons. Pros good power, smooth, luxury, comfortable, large interior. Cons boaty, brakes a little squishy, small third row, third row leather gets beat up from stuff, electric seats take forever to move out of the way, high step in.
I have a 2022 40i and I absolutely hate the brakes. For me, they are not squishy at all but too grabby. Also, it is very difficult to modulate the brakes to come to a smooth stop at a traffic light without the jerky motion. The transmission downshifts way to aggressively even in comfort mode and further causes a jerky motion when braking. start/stop system is horrible and wish they didn't delete the deactivation switch from the center console. I have to put the car in "sport Individual" and set up everything in comfort so that it doesn't turn on. Other than that, engine and transmission (on the upshift) are fantastic and torquey. Just wish there was a little bit more cargo room when the third row is up. Father inlaw has the GLS and has much more third row cargo room that I can put a large suitcase on it's side.
The reliability of a SKODA 1970's. Had two Bimmers - X6 and a 7 series - they loved being in the shop - BMW loved ripping me off with their prices. I once went in to pick up my car, and the counter service said "Do you want a wash" - I thought what a nice touch a free car wash - before I could say yes - she said look at the chart above and tell us which one - I kid you not - they had a Platinum Car wash package for $400 dollars - I said "Does that come with a hooker?" I wasn't kidding.
I would put some original Sega games in the center console. Maybe some NES games. Contra Mega Man Duck Hunt etc. This is definitely more appealing than the Infinity. This might hold it's value better over time. Correct me if I am wrong. 👍
hello sir, which car has more re-sale value BMW X7 2025 or LUXUS TX 550, 2024. Thanks my son is asking, Ismaeel 11 Years old. Thanks
This seems allot nicer overall than the Infiniti QX80.
Some nice ambient lighting that's not overdone.
More exotic materials IMO with the wood being a very nice statement.
I feel the Inifiniti having a screen where my cups should be going feels weird. Feels over the top, a little tacky.
Overall interior design seems more freeing for me with the BMW.
Deff prefer this BMW. Very nice.
The BMW is the correct choice. One does not even need to view the offering brought to you by Infiniti, it is undoubtably unsatisfying even to a blind man.
Love your video
I am just glad that I get to share it with you every day!
@@RaitisRides Np
Yes of course Joe & I will buy this SUV 1 day.
I can see you behind the wheel of this one.
Alright Joe I’m team BMW all the way
Thanks for your vote!
Did you have any issues with the AC? Several threads are saying the AC is not performing well on the X7; it does not cool enough.
I have a 2022 and don't have too much of an issue but have to constantly fiddle around with the settings. If I have it in "auto" mode and high fan, it just makes alot of noise but doesn't blow out alot of air from the vents. I am someone that is always hot, so I need the air to literally blow right on me. Sometimes in "auto", it stops blowing from the vent and I have to change the settings manually to vent. Not a big deal, but not sure why this is an issue on all BMW's year after year after year. Father inlaw has a 2022 GLS, which I drive all the time and had a 2020 Lincoln Aviator and it literally is set it and forget it.
Looks better than any Tesla car ever made
Not really much to brag about.
@@RaitisRidesyeah but I always thought that teslas are very cheap quality made evs. They use fake vegan leather and seats made from recycled cans
thought about that 4s 0-60mph time....I'm thinking your spec is incorrect
For the price I wish BMW's quality was a tad better, but great review spot on!
A BMW is a BMW. The Infiniti is just a Nissan aka the Chrysler of Japan.
Get the BMW but be sure to lease this thing as the depreciation and electric and mechanical gremlins, after three years, will be horrific.
Thanks for sharing your feelings on this one.
It's funny how the Hyundai Palisade Caligraphy does a far better job especially with It's luxury interior, interior amenities, and plentiful space even for the 3rd row passengers offering USB ports, reclining chairs, air vents, heated seats, and quilted Napa stitched leather, and large dual sun roofs all for the 3rd row. Not to mention you do not need to spend $25k more to get it. I choose the Palisade hands down over this and the Infiniti.
I think the badge is the problem
😂😂😂
Hyundai 🗑️
I’m sweating where’s the a/c vents 😂
Is it just me or BMW got inspired by Hyundai Palisade 2023 😂
75 HP less but 1 sec. faster from 0 - 60 mph, there you can see the difference in powertrain quality.
Nice suv
I am so glad that you are digging this one.
73k? I’m sure that’s for a used one ?
If I was shopping in this category I would personally go Mercedes GLS
The x7 is the best out there even in the 6cylinder engine. Only the GLS v8 is the only other option
The side vents are functional, because I said so
That chrome kidney grill kills the sleek aesthetic.
Joe, why are you comparing a 2023 model with a 2025 Infiniti?
Because that is what I had available and the Infiniti is new.
You know you've truly made it in life when you're driving the Ultra Apostle to the Luxury SUV's & I thought you were going to review a 2024 X7.
75 grand and no ventilated seats? what a ripoff, bought a car for 10 grand and does have ventilated seats, is a must in hot weather city lol.
What would u do?
Where is your conclusion
Has shape of Rolls-Royce suv. I wish lights are integrated, but not hideous like cyber truck
Thanks for sharing your insight on this one.
For me I still find QX80 looks way better. The BMW is cool but that QX80 is 🔥
I know how you feel!
Wow the all white exterior goes soooo hard
It really pops!
You should always protect your wood……… with a veneer finish 😂😂😂. Your wood shouldn’t be naked out here
That is an excellent point! Good call!
2023 BMW X7 xDrive 40i 4X4!
You are the man Scott! Thanks!
Top trim Infiniti or Base BMW for 40 grand less...That's my question...hmm...lol.
QX80
Price seem's to be wrong!
Nice Bavarian Mini-Van with no trunk space and barely a third row.
Well that would be worse than a minivan.
3rd row a/c is optional with the climate package
It should be standard at this price point.
The headlights look taken off of a Rolls Cullinan. Obviously i'm talking about the actual headlights, not the DRLs.
You are not the first to say that!
I can't wait until this floating iPad screen fad has gone by the wayside.
QX easy
I like the way that you think!
Whoever recommended the length for the x7 needs to be sacked. I don’t know the purpose of its 3 row. Too small. At least it shd have been as long as the GLS.
Not a fan of this one at all.. that interior makes me think of a twenty year old Lincoln and is way to busy … you’ve got a problem when Mazda is making more “German” euro style vehicles then the Germans but my wallets happy 😅
I know how you feel!
Think I like the Infiniti better
take the bmw all day
3:16 The fact that they're drawing attention to the fake fender vent is absolutely silly. xD
Infiniti over this BMW all day all night period!!
Thanks for sharing your vote!
Who likes the wood?
Let’s all give a moment of silence for bmw’s design philosophy. Was bmw forced to massacre the elegant bmw design language? that previous generations looked sleek and crispy
Kids today!?!?!?
serious question, who likes infinitis?
73K for a new BMW X7, it's gonna be missing some features.
The front end ???🤔 X5 50e is a better option but you don’t get the 3rd row cuz of battery 🙄🤩
That is an excellent point.
wood finish is not tasteful in this modern day anymore, even if it exudes luxury.
I just don't like the shine on it.
BMW interior look like Corolla compare to the Qx60 but I drive my car not sleep in it BMW all the way baby.
Things have changed
They will lose clients on this one duo to info screen being a bit far. Short ppl wont take it.
X5 has the same door design and dashboard. X7 should be different from x5.
Looks great.
I am so glad that you thinks so manuel!
4.6 seconds 0 to 60 is the V8 version.
No, it’s L6 version. V8 can do 3.8 sec
Boss we like your videos
That really means the world to me!
@@RaitisRides i wish you make a review on the new corvette please that will come on 25/7/2024
Infiniti 100%
i don’t understand how Genesis lower priced SUV gives you ventilated & massage seats and these much higher priced SUV ‘s nothing
🎉
Thanks for watching!
Another buck tooth BMW, Lease! only…just wait the maintenance plan expires…$$ to service anything…unfortunately I am learning this the hard way with 6 and 7 series.

It's nice. Can I have one for free?
hmmmm audi Q7 look better
I totally agree with you on that one Keith!
