@@Im_Old_Greggthe production is part of what makes the album what it is though. It’s a very raw and abrasive sound, which I think fits perfectly.
I can definitely appreciate the production quality of later albums like Sacrament, but I don’t think that’s needed here.
I’d rather the diversity in sound across albums than everything sounding similar album after album.
I think the remixed and remastered version loses something vs the original, although I’m sure if I’d never heard the original I would probably love the remix.
This record deserved to have the production quality of ashes of the wake, the songs are great, but it sounds like a cheap demo.
10th Anniversary Edition is a little better, but still bad.
I forgot how good lamb of god was, it gives you freakin goosebumps. I miss this super dark sound they had for their first bunch of albums

Oh, I'm starting to get you guys... The algorythm brought you to me for the react-videos on heavy metal, but I guess I kept clicking for the authentic perspectives, I just didn't really get you until now. Now that I do, I love your channel a lot more. I'd be really excited to get your two cents on a some stoner doom gems. Like Sleep or Earth or Electric Wizard.
On the one hand I'd really love to hear you guys' reaction to Type O Negative's 'White Slavery', on the other hand I wonder if you guys would think it's too on the nose. But maybe that makes for an interesting conversation.

@17:00 Is it the drugs, or is it the reason *why* people ended on drugs, that begets good music? Obviously absolutely don't wanna downplay the battles of addiction itself, in general or to any specific substance. But I do feel the parallel between drugs and good art is *partly* also the common cause behind both.
Blood junkie, ruin and purified are my top three from this album, but on the whole this is my favourite album from lamb of god.

The way the notes are ringing on the dark mistress of many parts get me every time on this one.
This song is what hooked me on Lamb of God. My friend let me borrow the CD and I was listening to it on the way home from work. Everything sounded great but when it got to 11th Hour, the rain was pouring so damn hard that it was matching the music and my mind was just blown.

@@AgentBeans Yeah been listening to Death metal since early 90's and one of the few bands that put out something new and I can actually stand.
As the Palaces Burn is their best album, hands down.
I actually thinks the burn the priest album is my favorite but palaces is really solid too. Pretty much every album before sacrament was great. They lost me after ashes.

It makes sense that the best art comes from people who are intimately familiar with the type of pain and torture, they try to convey in their art. It’s often believed about comedians and actors as well as musicians, that tortured souls produce the best art. I do carry concerns that this belief have ramifications if taken too seriously. I mean, you can just hope that it does not drive anyone to rock bottom or to set up residence there for longer than need be, in the name of authentic tortured art, cause clearly many do not survive their rock bottom for long. Hence the importance of your point that writing once the fog has cleared can be equally valuable. Don’t put art before your own life and health.
I also think we can become too inquisitive and suspicious of the personal backgrounds of these artists in the interest of measuring their life experiences against their words and art. Then we don’t let the art speak for itself, like it should. I can’t speak to either addiction or being any kind of artist, so these thoughts may seem naive or whatever in this context, but these are my thoughts still in the grander scheme of mental health and art.
And speaking of authentic tortured art, as always, the candor with which you speak about both your histories is appreciated by many, I’m sure.
