There is a nice small book with lots of photos called "Yahudi'lerin İstanbulu" (Istanbul of the Jews/Jews' Istanbul) I dont know if you can find and order it but i think you'd like it, it would improve your Turkish too. The vlog was chatoic in the best way, felt very genuine and calm as if i was hanging out with a friend.
Olives are a food that makes a good component in larger dishes. You might like it more if you put small pieces of it on bread with a dip and then maybe you’ll enjoy the flavor combination. Either way I applaud you for your willingness to retry something you didn’t like as a child. It frustrates me when people refuse to try things as adults because our tastes often change so much in that time and people really miss out on many experiences they may enjoy because of their reservations.
Chaotically amazing vlog! Don't know I missed it considering I loved the earlier Turkey vlog. As a college freshman (who is also studying Communications!) your channel is super inspiring and energizing to watch! I hope I get to travel just as freely when I can in the future, love your vids :)
The video is amazing, the venues are amazing, the stadium is amazing, the audience is amazing, the friends who appeared in the video are wonderful, and you are amazing. Thank you for this delightful video ❤ .
Elysse, I have a request. Could you PLEASE make a video on Shadowing and how you did it for German? It would be awesome if you could show it too. I LOVE your channel so much. ❤
I love watching your vlogs like this and seeing you not only living your best life, but also using the languages you’ve worked so hard to learn. Keep up the amazing work!❤
Fun fact from the moment in 18:49, in Spain (or at least in Catalonia) we do call a cerveza a birra when we ask people if they want to get together for beers in informal settings, like ¿vamos a tomarnos unas birras?
do you know turkish people should drink coffe instead of tea in breakfast? because literally kahve means coffee and kahvaltı means breakfast. the word kahvaltı forms like this: kahvaltı = kahve + altı. like the word kahvaltı LITERALLLY means a meal that you have with coffee.
Yeah i’ve noticed that! 😹 it’s the same in Brazilian Portuguese, “café da manhã” means breakfast. But they do actually drink coffee at breakfast hahaha
@@elyssespeaks actually samet is wrong. kahve-altı word meaning says that something you eat before coffee not 'with'. samet are you refugees? lol. before the coffee or directly translation is under the coffee. Turks drink tea with breakfast and then finish it, they drink Turkish coffee.
Merhaba Elysse!

There's a similar museum in Rhodes, museum of the old city jewish community, close to the old synagogue. But unluckly it's also a museum about Shoah, because the community of Rhodes was destroyed during the WWII, because at that time Rhodes was an italian colony... if you are interested look for Sami Modiano books... they are the reason I've visited Rhodes a few months ago. Anyway... you are a wonderful person. Thanks for this video!
It's weird how Greeks usually put blames on someone else. Well, my friend, I don't think they teach in Greece, but Greek officials actually collaborated with Nazis. There were many Nazi Greeks, and they worked with German Nazis to "clean" Greece from Jews. If you check this demographic chart, it shows how Jewish and Turkish population erased from Thessaloniki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thessaloniki#/media/File:Saloniki_population_graph.png
as a zaza i'm also really suprised i came across a zaza :D kurdish speakers are common but for zaza it's rare, our dialect is different but it's still so cool to see the language here
How can you amaze me through two videos in such of a fast way of impression? It's just warmful to hear you speaking these languages, so cool! The way you speak all of them is just uncareful and precise, pretty nice :)
Elysse, you never ever, like ever, leave a football match early ... unless there's a major emergeny. In England there's even a chant that fans use to taunt leaving opposition supporters: "Is there a fire drill? Is there a fire drill? Is there a fire drill? ..."

18:48 I don't know if "birra" sounds like a word from a different language and that's why you both laughed, but as an Argentinian (from Buenos Aires) I can tell you that in Spanish "birra" is "cerveza" too. It's more coloquial but highly used
its a bit late but they laughed bcs he thought he spoke in Turkish (beer means 'bira' in Turkish) instead of speaking in Spanish so he got confused, bilingual problems basically
