It's always so interesting to see Americans experience Turkey, hear them speak Turkish, find some differences in the culture, etc. Especially, since I, and to different extents pretty much everybody around the world, are the ones that do the same for American culture and English. Hope you had fun while you were here!
Btw, you can definitely get a lot better in your pronunciation, but your overall speaking ability is super impressive, really good job!

How do you get over the fear of speaking and making mistakes? You seem so able to speak without stuttering and forgetting basic words for A1 level. It's amazing and inspiring. I love your videos. Keep doing what you do.
Sometimes in the video i would say things a couple of times because i stuttered, it’s not always so fluid 😅 I edited them out. but thank you!

you’re so smart, and doing awesome! bc you figured out that turkish is an agglutinative language; which means we have word stems and we add suffixes to them to make new words 🧚🏻♀️🪄
e.g. like you said:

büyü+t (raise, bring up, magnify, exaggerate)

I've seen people from the Turkish community in Germany who grew up with Turkish as native language spoken in their families (well at least to some extent..) that would have far more difficulty than you navigating daily life in İzmir. Great job!

that "saf" on the beauty product you saw is, like you said, more like untouched, pure. ama "saf" kelimesi aynı zamanda salak, kolay kandırılabilen, pek zeki olmayan anlamında da kullanılıyor. prolly why they used it as whimpy.
and humble can be translated directly as "alçak gönüllü" or "mütevazı". but be careful NOT "mütevazi", that means "parallel", even turks get confused by the word :)
your pronounciation is almost perfect, like “you dont even need to practice anymore” good. your grammatical use is pretty great too, turkish grammar is really unusual and we turks even learn some aspects of it throughout the high school :) so you are doing an amazing job here congrats! i am not that of a polyglot, just trying to improve my german at the moment but even with that i sometimes struggle, even though you can call it a germanic language like english. so really great job with this weird language which is definitely not similar to any european language. emeğine sağlık! istediğin zaman yardım istemekten sakın çekinme 👏

It's always impressive to hear an indo European mother tongue speaker learn Turkish because it is difficult, particularly the accent. You are doing great! Your accent has the potential to be native sounding in a relatively short period. I left Turkey at the age of 5 and even I have a bit of an 'accent' which is more related to my word selection and lack of experience of the most culturally appropriate sentences and responses. Like what do i say when my Turkish Barber says sihhatler olsun... For years I assumed it was saatler olsun which means?? Doesn't mean anything but I never questioned it! Sihhat apparently means strength or wellness or something like that but there are still many times I have no idea what these terms mean after all these years! Good luck mastering Turkish. Damn you can navigate your way around Turkey in a such short amount of time 🤯. If I had to give feedback, I'd advise you to focus on your vowels. English and Turkish don't share a single vowel, so your vowels can be sometimes off. But it's never off enough to ruin the understandability. I didn't know about boyoz before 😅. Fun and funny is often mistaken by non-native speakers. There's one time when Jacksepticeye corrects Pewdiepie saying "the most fun.." instead of "the most funny.." in a video. I remembered it well because it's the first time I realised that I had been using it correctly without knowing, I learned English mostly through content immersion.

I recently moved to izmir, about 4 or 5 weeks ago and when i was walking around izmir i ate lunch exactly where you did, and sat exactly where you sat, and then took the roads you took and went to a ferry.. so it looked like i was watching my vlog, interesting

O boyozu haşlanmış yumurta ile yemen lazım aslında. 1 yumurtayı haşlandıktan sonra soy 4 e böl üstüne karabiber dök. her ısırık aldığında yumurtadan da yersin. Bence cok güzel oluyor

I’ve never really heard Turkish spoken for more than a few words before. I’m surprised it sounds a lot more like an Asian language. I thought it was indo European but I just realized i was wrong lol.
Interesting observation, i’ve asked my friends and my partner before what it sounds like and they really couldn’t find anything to compare it to. it’s so unique! ♥️
