Using sensitive toothpaste long term can make your teeth hurt and be worse off as it ONLY numbs it and does not get to root causes! I am thinking it is a withdrawal reaction. Just like opioids! Not sure tho.
There really isn’t one that’s specific to zirconia crowns. It’s really about risk factors for gum disease or cavities. Closys is excellent if you have gum issues. Arm and Hammer Peroxicare or a higher fluoride toothpaste is advisable if you are a high caries (cavity) risk.
Is an All sugar toothpaste (sort of creme brulee) recommended? I'm just asking for a friend! On a more serios note - what's the deal with people cleaning their teeth using baking soda, salt or charcoal?
Seriously though, with regard to the baking soda, salt and charcoal: baking soda is an excellent product - it neutralizes the pH levels in your saliva and can reduce the risk for decay. It’s used in some excellent toothpastes by Arm and Hammer and Carifree. Charcoal is a trendy thing now, but can be damaging to your enamel. If the toothpaste has an ADA seal of approval, it’s fine - but I would advise against any charcoal toothpastes that do not have that seal.
@@DentistrywithDerik The chart I looked at 101- 150 is highly abrasive and 151-250 is considered harmful. The whitening agent is likely the cause. I personally use closys which is at 53. Any other toothpaste seems to give me canker sores inside my cheek. At $13 a tube I hope it's as good as the other brands!!
@@Louis275 Closys is excellent for canker sores - mostly due to its high pH and gentle ingredients. I haven’t fount a “perfect” toothpaste. Maybe I’ll make a “wishlist” video for toothpaste manufacturers to consider :)
@@DentistrywithDerik I had what may have been an abscess last friday on my upper gum. It was a white spot and the gums looked a little inflamed around it. I was recommended to do a saltwater rinse a couple of times a day. By saturday I started to see improvement. By sunday it was completely gone. I haven't had those in a long time, so I was surprised to see it. I'm a perio patient so I go to the dentist every three months instead of six. I normally don't use mouthwashes so will using a mouthwash prevent them from happening again? I read that saltwater rinse maintains a neutral pH in the mouth, which is less hospitable for harmful bacteria. Obviously, I don't want to keep using saltwater so is something like closys silver mouthwash just as good??

I have found Enamel On paste by Premier with ACP to help GREATLY with sensitivity. How do you feel about this ingredient?
Hello, please make a video on hydroxyapatite toothpastes.

Are water flossers good to avoid those issues with crowns?
@@juliestephens8472 they can be helpful; sonic toothbrushes can be as well.
What toothpaste is the less abrasive? Does closys toothpaste and mouth rinse stain teeth over time of used everyday?
They do not stain. Closys is one of the least abrasive toothpastes on the market

Love the humor! 😂

Is Colgate sensitive whitening an abrasive toothpaste?
Many whitening toothpastes are. Arm and Hammer Peroxicare is safe and effective with a low abrasive level.
A&H Advanced white has an RDA value of 106 which is considered highly abrasive!!
Anything over 200 is considered highly abrasive. It’s also why I only recommend Peroxicare and Sensitive. Their RDA values are much lower (under 55).
