Minnie and Jr's "forbidden love" though is a pretty major theme further along in Grim Tales. Nothing really obscene happens directly in the comic (that I recall. It's been a lotta years since I read it), but it's definitely sold to reader as something pure that Jr. should just let Minnie have, cuz she's suffered so much for him, or whatever.

I have actually met Bleedman(Vinzon Ngo) several times around the late 2000s. I graduated from the same college and fine arts department he was from. At that time PPGD already peaked and he was cashing in on it. I think he was the most followed artist on Deviantart seconded only by Endling. Needless to say Vinzon is very socially awkward and almost always went about his business alone. It was anybody's best guess why that was the case. The guy's always obscured in the shadows or only tallked to his other elite friends, being that he's a son of a wealthy elite. And it's no secret what he was into. It was something also very commonly talked about among new students in our fine arts department and the alumni who knew who he was before, during, and after his fame. There's no nice way to say it but I don't think anyone really liked him IRL around here. There's also a teacher who's still in the faculty of the fine arts dept who used to work with Vinzon and other ambitious local artists during the peak of PPGD and I vaguely remember his sentiments about it being that most of the artists involved were so arrogant that any effort to collaborate fell into moot. Bleedman being one of the harder people to work with. Take all this with a grain of salt. It's mostly stuff I've seen, and heard from those who were all within a good enough proximity of him.

It's likely that the inconsistencies between comic and screen were due to the former being based on earlier drafts of the scripts. You'll see this all the time with movie novelizations or tie-in video games.
I think one of the coolest concepts to cone from the comics was the powerpunk girls. The girls alternate evil selves, honestly im surprised they didnt do more with them

Blossom has a cultivated accent, Bubbles has a general accent, and Buttercup has the broad accent. I was seven months old when the powderpuff girls came out. But I watched them a lot when I was five. Even watched the movies in theaters. As for Bleedman, I remember seeing his art when I first started using DeviantArt back in 2014. I honestly loved his art and comics. But it’s very surprising how much controversy he’d gotten for his work. Like damn. Another artist who’s a creep.

I currently own a few of the DC comics as I was a ppg collector growing up. My favorite one will always be the 50th one, introducing the PowerPunk Girls. So many people thought they were fan made characters. My favorite lore about this particular issue was that they were originally gonna be adapted into the series. But the movie scrapped the idea, and instead they got their comic story!
I want to read that comic so bad. I’m definitely gonna buy it along with a couple other issues soon because I love the idea of punk Powerpuff girls. They might deserve their own video in the future. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to buy the lot of ppg comics lol

Even though it's "common internet practice" doesn't mean it's good or not, which is why he probably finds it controversial. Leaving out the 9/11 part, the obsession over an infamous art subgenre is even bad for fans of his work to find out about.

I've never read Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi, Grim Tales From Down Below, or any other of Bleedman's comics. But ever since I was introduced to them, I've had a lot of respect for him, as an artist at least. Also, the only official Powerpuff comics I've read are Deja Vu and Super Secret Crisis War. Would you consider the comics any good?
There’s no doubt bleedmans art is incredible I won’t deny that. And yeah I’ve heard they are really good, I’m only just starting to read them myself and I’ve been really enjoying them. If you can read them for free or for really cheap then I recommend them but definitely don’t pay the eBay prices which are anywhere from 150$-500$ for the collection. I might make a video about super secret crisis war too
@@Childishju I got into them through my local library's mobile app, Hoopla And mostly read those two stories for the sheer novelty of them. Apparently, Deja Vu was also planned for Season 4, but it never happened. Maybe that's why the Rowdyruffs came back.

Cartoon Network's cross-promotions with Scratch, most notably the "Make It Fly" PPG 2016 promotion project and their trio of We Bare Bears promotion projects. It was during that time when the Rowdyruffs hadn't shown up yet in the show, and that show and its fandom on Scratch led to an interesting story of mine from my adolescence. I tried auditioning for Butch through Scratch, albeit for a fan project that introduced me to a user who would eventually become my ex-girlfriend.
I consider Bleedman’s POG serirs the “definitive”follow-up to the classic 90s show; I would love to see this become an animated series (as unlikely as it would be with all the licensing).

Seems like some of those stories that were adapted through the book might have been retcon once the tv counterparts came along. Reminds me what the "DCAU" was doing back them with "Gotham Adventures" and such. The specific original stories that eventually were changed later might just take place in another parallel demention.
i think the only thing people don't like about bleedman these days is the new page upload frequency, humanity doesn't really care about sexualizing characters these days unfortunately, its something they pride themselves on now, becomes more normal as time went on

Literally insane that they had these ideas, thought about them, created the art, had the team approve of them, and still decided to release it. It was bound to fall off at some point
PPGD was my favorite story and I loved Noreen's design in it so much that I made it my phone's wallpaper for years. The story is slowly rotting, and the controversies are something I almost completely forgot about, but I sure as hell hope that the story wraps up before Bleed gets cancelled for like the xth amount of time
Yeah I think he needs to just focus on creating a beginning middle and end to his stories rather than having them continue on for 20+ years. I do plan on talking about him more in the future, his comic was pretty fun at the beginning
For me the only fault is the issue of the delay, and some details of the story, but I think those details would not be noticeable if the publications were even 1 week earlier. (and the time wasted on specific holiday pages, but it seems like he's not going to do them anymore, which, happy and sad)
I'll just say this about the Bleedman thing (which honestly was news to me until this video since I had never read Grim Tales in full or looked too closely at his art), I only knew of him because of PPGD obviously because it's so popular. I'm not condoning his disgusting behavior in any way and because the comic has gone on so long I've lost track of the entire plot. Maybe it's just me but I thought it was clever to pair Blossom and Dexter together because she's depicted as the intelligent sister, she was artificially created by her father figure scientist (Professor Utonium) and Dexter is depicted as a genius scientist which means his technology and inventions could aid Blossom and her sisters in fighting crime. I can imagine them being a cool power couple as adults if such a crossover was done by an artist who knew to avoid age gaps or maybe as an AU where they're the same age but everything else about their character is the same. I can also imagine Dexter wanting to study Chemical-X himself to learn more about it's properties since it's where Blossom's powers come from and it's a unique substance. As for the DC comics, I can't really speak to how canon they are because unfortunately I didn't manage to collect all 50-something issues as a kid but I know I had several. I see them occasionally on Marketplace sites like Mercari so I do intend to collect them since some issues weren't too insane in the price department. I didn't know that "Stray Bullet" or "Moral Decay" originally started as comics so it would be interesting to see how they differ from the episodes I know. I'm a 32 year old Millennial so PPG was naturally part of the culture I had known back then. I also vaguely remember that "Dexter's Laboratory" had a similar comic series by DC that ran about as long so it would be interesting to see a video about that, then IDW did a comic series which apparently only lasted four issues. I managed to find the first IDW issue on Amazon for a good price and I intend to collect the DC comics, the rest of the IDW comics as well as the new 2024 PPG comics by Dynamite.

Bleedmans comics is what sort of encouraged me to get into digital art. Also remember learning that Belle was someone’s fan character that he put in the comic years later.
Yeah I’m hearing that he inspired a lot of peoples work, I kinda feel bad for only talking about the bad things he’s done instead of highlighting some of the good things. But I’m glad he was able to do that for you!

And I'm glad you were able to make a video on this, personally i truly did love PPGD but nowadays i can't help but feel like most of it is fueled by nostalgia, i've noticed a lot of problems pop up even in the earlier chapters of the comics for starters there isn't really any worldbuilding like why are all these cartoon characters living together in the same town, is this a city of heroes? what exactly is going on here? i don't need a reason for every little detail but this seems is weirdly specific and i find it very strange that it was never touched on and that we're just supposed to roll with it but in all honesty it would have been fine if he actually knew how to utilize the characters seriously this guy does not know how to use the characters he already has he either relies way too much on ocs or doesn't know how to properly establish character dynamics, the only character dynamic that he ever took the time to nurture was blossom and dexter everyone else got thrown to the wayside we could have gotten some cool interaction (that's usually the appeal of crossovers after all) , mandy and bubbles are implied to become friends but nothing ever really comes of that, we see Buttercup make friends but we NEVER got to see any of them interact with her except Tootie and we could have gotten to see student mentor relationship from samurai Jack and Dexter which leads me into my next bit of criticism why isn't jack their teacher? I mean yeah he's the gym teacher yes, but why isn't he the teacher in charge of the girls' class? It would have made way more sense if he where the one overseeing the kids rather than this random woman, it's not uncommon for teachers to teach multiple subjects and the comic itself acknowledges that jack is very knowledgeable on a lot of different topics and he seems relatively good with young children so it seemed like a pretty good fit, this would have given the kids a mentor and an adult to confidence and watch over them because at the end of the day they are like 11 and they do still need someone to keep an eye on them, SO YEAH! WHY PUT HIM ON THE COVER IF HE'S JUST A RANDOM SIDE CHARACTER! also I'm pretty sure the only reason this comic is still well remembered to this day is because of the Blossom and Dexter relationship and rightfully so it was one more well thought out plot points of the entire manga (in the earlier chapters at least) and i am ashamed to admit that i am one of those people that don't really remember any of the villains except for bell because she's an evil powerpuff girls ohhhh.... also wtf Mandark kills himself! He literally had the potential for a redemption arc but no he just offs himself because at this point i think Bleedman was more concerned about being edgy then actually telling a good story! I could honestly go on and on but i don't want to clog up the comment section too much so i'll probably join the discord so i can rant properly but yeah good video and thanks again for the shout out
Firstly no problem, I’m glad I was able to mention you! And yeah I gotta be honest I only read the first couple chapters but I did really like what I saw, it’s a bit cluttered because of how much us going on but besides that it is a really fun concept and does remind me of city of hero’s lmao. I do plan on actually doing a deep dive on everything that happens in ppgd but I just could figure out how to format that type of video but I’m gonna keep working on it because it’s definitely something I’m interested in diving deeper into. There were definitely a lot of weird moments in those first couple of issues but I do love some of the ideas they had. I also don’t get why jack is just a gym teacher and not their actual sensi. But the comics history and bleedmans controversy are enough to have its own video as it is. But before that I’m thinking of doing a ppg iceberg? Possibly. Please recommend any ideas though, your video ideas are always fantastic.

Yes, I have seen many complain that the creator does not finish it *or cancels it*, when the very fact that he is still trying to continue it is impressive, it is much better that it takes a while to update it than that it is just another project from an artist with potential that ends up canceled

It was a fan mock-up when the series was just a handful of shorts, and NOT the new incarnation of the DC Superhero Girls series...whiiich is weird considering that when it WAS an official TV series they never got a crossover comic that was...all SORTS of obvious since Lauren is Craig's wife and she not only wrote so many PPG eps, she also MADE SBFF/DC Superhero Girls G2...

I never knew this had a comic at all. I remembered the fan one a little. I also remembered the fan grim tales. It was bloody awesome 👍🏾 i loved that one the most. I wasn't going to get mad because the show was about jokes & stuff. So i just laughed...then move to the next chapter. There's way worse stuff out there.

9:50 Well, that was obvious... at least for me. I think I've been on Internet enough to recognize the art style of a furry, or a lolicon. But beside everything, yeah... the Twin Towers plot was in line with Mandy's character, but it shown a very poor taste and timing. You can't talk yourself out of something, saying "it's just fiction", when you use a real (still fresh) tragedy for your story.
Personally, I feel like the DC Comics are canon but any Episode adaptations override those issues. This is because CN also did compilation comics from 1995-2012. Some of those included original powerpuff stories along with other CN Shows. One of the Billy and Mandy comics would later be referenced in the Season 5 epsiode "Keeper of the Reaper" with a Scooby-Doo Cameo. Plus the shows and comics would often share writers. At least in the cause for PPG & GAOBAM since those are the only ones I ever really looked into. Idk about IDW since I never got around to it. The solo IDW Comics could be canon cause they have no reason not to but I feel like the crossover stuff is non-canon. 1. Since the Punch Time Explosion Video Game isn't canon 2. Unless they do dimension hopping stuff, it would kinda be a GAOTKND situation. Basically, Billy & Mandy had a Kids Next Door crossover in 2007. This crossover can't be canon since both shows have Christmas episodes that are important to the series lore. The santas and whole christmas system are vastly different in B&M compared to KND. Both also deviating from the powerpuff girls' potrayal in *it's* Christmas special. Hope that helps atleast Also, as a PPGD reader it is SO DANG CONVOLUTED. Everything after 2014 is kinda messy and the long wait between chapters without rereading can easily make you forget what's going on. And the output's been slow since 2010
That’s not a bad way of looking at it, you may be right. I mean it would make sense that the only issues that wouldn’t be considered canon would be the ones they overwrote in the series itself. But could we really consider it all canon, even with the idw stuff? It makes sense that it would be the case but I just wish we had a more clear timeline because besides the movie it’s hard to tell when anything takes place. If we get any answers I will definitely make another video but yeah it’s an interesting topic, also yeah I’m sure any ppgd hardcore fans have dropped off since. Especially with the lack of content and the incoherent story. It sounds like it’s just one big mess of characters with no end in sight unfortunately. But I know some people still get enjoyment out of it so that’s cool. But I hear we getting new official ppg comics soon so that’ll be really fun
This was a great video, a good beginning overview.. that being said not sure why the IDW comics main run was treated as a footnote. Those were I think some of their highest quality comics overall. Not that the crossover issues were bad at all, all of the IDW material was awesome. I can understand not including the PPGZ manga in this video though because it is pretty darn obscure and kind of mediocre, though it at least does have plenty of original ideas in it. That being said i'd love it if if overpowered androids were more of a thing in the franchise like Alpha and Beta were in that work. I also think the Choose Your Own adventure style books clearly don't count as comics but they are too cool for me not to recc looking into, I mean they had an evil clone of buttercup (Bittercup) walk so that the Rowdyruffs could fly. It's not a problem though because it means you have the potential to ma more future videos ha ha ;-) Apologies if any of that was covered in your other vids, I'm still catching up. I really had not considered if PPGD helped to create comics like Super Secret Crisis wars. Thanks for the work!
Thanks for watching and yeah, the Powerpuff girls IDW comic has a lot of history so I’m thinking that I’ll just give that its own video. Same thing with the Powerpuff girls Z manga, that was gonna get its own video too and still will eventually! Both of these comics have so much in them and I was kinda running out of storage while making this video so I had to trim some things down but yeah no worries, the content will get better with time! The show had continuity though? Like the Ruffs staying dead until basically Satan revived them, the girls remembering Princesses slights in the Christmas special, hell several episodes only could work as sequels to others. It's not a franchise dominated by 'the status quo is god'' as a trope a la the Simpsons.

I think we can in 2024 be mature enough to not demonise a guy for his taste in loli. But I remember actively reading the comic back in the day when I got to that bit. I always remembered it as Grim being the one that did it though, not Mandy. It was definitely one of the best fancomics of it's time but that moment annihilated it's reputation. Feels so weird to hear that comic mentioned so many years later. I imagine most of the people watching this video were born after the last time I read a page... Oh and nice to hear about the official comics. I was never aware there even were any until now. Fun that they stole some of the better elements of Bleedman's comic.
Maybe you’re right. I’ll try to be more considerate in the future. The web comics aren’t really bad it’s more the controversial things that give it a bad wrap. And it doesn’t help that they have no end in sight and are just making issues for the sake of doing so. But yeah could definitely be worse
In my opinion, I think the DC comics are a degree of canon, and honestly in the case of Moral Decay, the comic counterpart is better than the episode! The comics were also good because you would get original villains, or some villains who were originally one-offs getting a new plot (White Kitty and Abracadaver coming to mind). The IDW Comics- there is a lot more to look at than just the crossover stuff. Particularly the "Second Chances" arc, which in my opinion, serves as a good character conclusion for Fuzzy, the Gangreen Gang, and Princess. I think of it as canon, considering Ace later went on to be a Gorillaz member. Bleedman is honestly, a hack. He relied so hard on the crossover stuff and anime style that people obsessed over in the 2000s, but as an actual PPG comic, his doujin is pretty terrible. His depiction of HIM, removing all of his flamboyance honestly makes me think he might be homophobic on top of the loli and incest crap.
I’m thinking that I’m going to look deeper into not only the ppg comics but every Cartoon Network comic and discuss their canon or lack of. I find it really interesting and yeah I need to read a bit deeper into them because those Powerpuff comics are pretty great. As far as bleedman goes yeah i know a lot of people love them but they are definitely a mess and there’s no end in sight for the comic so it’s something that I wouldn’t recommend to people to read. And him being homophobic wouldn’t surprise me a bit.

He isn't known for any good story-telling from his comics… just the edgy 9/11 and loli stuff. Tails Gets Trolled, a webcomic that looks like a shitpost, is remembered more as being a well-written crossover than Bleedman's work.

The irony is the comic Deja Vu was supposed to be a full length episode but was canceled because Kids Next Door came out with an episode similar to that plot. I don't know how much of that rumor is true though. It could just be a coincidence. Speaking of comics I remember drawing a fan-made badly drawn Powerpuff Girls comic when I was younger. I remember the plot well but I never drew the ending. Maybe someday I might finish the story even though I still can't draw.
@@Childishju I kind of wish the deja vu comic did become an episode because the character designs on the Powerpuff Girls were really epic. Luckily people posted the comic online so I was able to read it. BTW if you ever heard of the movie Little Shop of Horrors basically my comic was the Powerpuff Girls Versus Audrey 2 and half of Townsville was getting eaten by Audrey 2 and her children. I drew this when I was a kid and I don't know if anyone would be interested in reading something like that. But if you like the idea then that's good enough for me.

@@Childishju my sister helped me with some of the pages as well she created the scenario with the narrator from PPG arguing with the 3 singers from little shop as a running gag in random panels. I also remember the professor creating a chemical X plant killer concoction and the last thing I drew was Seymour sacrificing himself to save bubbles. Someday when I'm motivated enough I'm going to redraw this from scratch and I'm going to make the ending.
I think the hate for the 2016 show is way to over blown I get why some don't like it but the hate is crazy just like TTG like okay you don't like it move on. Also the comic that I believe is issue 50 with the Powerpunk girls was meant to be a ep so I say you could count that as canon. Okay firstly I’ve definitely thought about making some mlp content. I haven’t seen much but I have a personal connection to it and I’m most likely going to do that eventually. Secondly, thank you so much for being honest with me. I know my audio isn’t the best and it sucks because I really want to make the highest quality content possible. I’m using iPhone 5 headphones to record audio which is why it isn’t great but you just gave me the push I needed to finally upgrade my equipment and give my audience the quality content they deserve. As a kid that sh*t confused me and made me uncomfortable, that’s why I liked that one the least now I absolutely hate it…
I have actually met Bleedman(Vinzon Ngo) several times around the late 2000s. I graduated from the same college and fine arts department he was from. At that time PPGD already peaked and he was cashing in on it. I think he was the most followed artist on Deviantart seconded only by Endling. Needless to say Vinzon is very socially awkward and almost always went about his business alone. It was anybody's best guess why that was the case. The guy's always obscured in the shadows or only tallked to his other elite friends, being that he's a son of a wealthy elite. And it's no secret what he was into. It was something also very commonly talked about among new students in our fine arts department and the alumni who knew who he was before, during, and after his fame. There's no nice way to say it but I don't think anyone really liked him IRL around here. There's also a teacher who's still in the faculty of the fine arts dept who used to work with Vinzon and other ambitious local artists during the peak of PPGD and I vaguely remember his sentiments about it being that most of the artists involved were so arrogant that any effort to collaborate fell into moot. Bleedman being one of the harder people to work with. Take all this with a grain of salt. It's mostly stuff I've seen, and heard from those who were all within a good enough proximity of him.

It's likely that the inconsistencies between comic and screen were due to the former being based on earlier drafts of the scripts. You'll see this all the time with movie novelizations or tie-in video games.

As for Bleedman, I remember seeing his art when I first started using DeviantArt back in 2014. I honestly loved his art and comics. But it’s very surprising how much controversy he’d gotten for his work. Like damn. Another artist who’s a creep.

I currently own a few of the DC comics as I was a ppg collector growing up. My favorite one will always be the 50th one, introducing the PowerPunk Girls. So many people thought they were fan made characters. My favorite lore about this particular issue was that they were originally gonna be adapted into the series. But the movie scrapped the idea, and instead they got their comic story!
I want to read that comic so bad. I’m definitely gonna buy it along with a couple other issues soon because I love the idea of punk Powerpuff girls. They might deserve their own video in the future. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to buy the lot of ppg comics lol

And yeah I’ve heard they are really good, I’m only just starting to read them myself and I’ve been really enjoying them. If you can read them for free or for really cheap then I recommend them but definitely don’t pay the eBay prices which are anywhere from 150$-500$ for the collection.

It was during that time when the Rowdyruffs hadn't shown up yet in the show, and that show and its fandom on Scratch led to an interesting story of mine from my adolescence.

Seems like some of those stories that were adapted through the book might have been retcon once the tv counterparts came along. Reminds me what the "DCAU" was doing back them with "Gotham Adventures" and such. The specific original stories that eventually were changed later might just take place in another parallel demention.

i think the only thing people don't like about bleedman these days is the new page upload frequency, humanity doesn't really care about sexualizing characters these days unfortunately, its something they pride themselves on now, becomes more normal as time went on

PPGD was my favorite story and I loved Noreen's design in it so much that I made it my phone's wallpaper for years. The story is slowly rotting, and the controversies are something I almost completely forgot about, but I sure as hell hope that the story wraps up before Bleed gets cancelled for like the xth amount of time

I'll just say this about the Bleedman thing (which honestly was news to me until this video since I had never read Grim Tales in full or looked too closely at his art), I only knew of him because of PPGD obviously because it's so popular. I'm not condoning his disgusting behavior in any way and because the comic has gone on so long I've lost track of the entire plot. Maybe it's just me but I thought it was clever to pair Blossom and Dexter together because she's depicted as the intelligent sister, she was artificially created by her father figure scientist (Professor Utonium) and Dexter is depicted as a genius scientist which means his technology and inventions could aid Blossom and her sisters in fighting crime. I can imagine them being a cool power couple as adults if such a crossover was done by an artist who knew to avoid age gaps or maybe as an AU where they're the same age but everything else about their character is the same. I can also imagine Dexter wanting to study Chemical-X himself to learn more about it's properties since it's where Blossom's powers come from and it's a unique substance.
As for the DC comics, I can't really speak to how canon they are because unfortunately I didn't manage to collect all 50-something issues as a kid but I know I had several. I see them occasionally on Marketplace sites like Mercari so I do intend to collect them since some issues weren't too insane in the price department. I didn't know that "Stray Bullet" or "Moral Decay" originally started as comics so it would be interesting to see how they differ from the episodes I know. I'm a 32 year old Millennial so PPG was naturally part of the culture I had known back then. I also vaguely remember that "Dexter's Laboratory" had a similar comic series by DC that ran about as long so it would be interesting to see a video about that, then IDW did a comic series which apparently only lasted four issues. I managed to find the first IDW issue on Amazon for a good price and I intend to collect the DC comics, the rest of the IDW comics as well as the new 2024 PPG comics by Dynamite.

Bleedmans comics is what sort of encouraged me to get into digital art. Also remember learning that Belle was someone’s fan character that he put in the comic years later.
Yeah I’m hearing that he inspired a lot of peoples work, I kinda feel bad for only talking about the bad things he’s done instead of highlighting some of the good things. But I’m glad he was able to do that for you!

And I'm glad you were able to make a video on this, personally i truly did love PPGD but nowadays i can't help but feel like most of it is fueled by nostalgia, i've noticed a lot of problems pop up even in the earlier chapters of the comics for starters there isn't really any worldbuilding like why are all these cartoon characters living together in the same town, is this a city of heroes? what exactly is going on here? i don't need a reason for every little detail but this seems is weirdly specific and i find it very strange that it was never touched on and that we're just supposed to roll with it but in all honesty it would have been fine if he actually knew how to utilize the characters seriously this guy does not know how to use the characters he already has he either relies way too much on ocs or doesn't know how to properly establish character dynamics, the only character dynamic that he ever took the time to nurture was blossom and dexter everyone else got thrown to the wayside we could have gotten some cool interaction (that's usually the appeal of crossovers after all) , mandy and bubbles are implied to become friends but nothing ever really comes of that, we see Buttercup make friends but we NEVER got to see any of them interact with her except Tootie and we could have gotten to see student mentor relationship from samurai Jack and Dexter which leads me into my next bit of criticism why isn't jack their teacher? I mean yeah he's the gym teacher yes, but why isn't he the teacher in charge of the girls' class? It would have made way more sense if he where the one overseeing the kids rather than this random woman, it's not uncommon for teachers to teach multiple subjects and the comic itself acknowledges that jack is very knowledgeable on a lot of different topics and he seems relatively good with young children so it seemed like a pretty good fit, this would have given the kids a mentor and an adult to confidence and watch over them because at the end of the day they are like 11 and they do still need someone to keep an eye on them, SO YEAH! WHY PUT HIM ON THE COVER IF HE'S JUST A RANDOM SIDE CHARACTER! also I'm pretty sure the only reason this comic is still well remembered to this day is because of the Blossom and Dexter relationship and rightfully so it was one more well thought out plot points of the entire manga (in the earlier chapters at least) and i am ashamed to admit that i am one of those people that don't really remember any of the villains except for bell because she's an evil powerpuff girls ohhhh.... also wtf Mandark kills himself! He literally had the potential for a redemption arc but no he just offs himself because at this point i think Bleedman was more concerned about being edgy then actually telling a good story! I could honestly go on and on but i don't want to clog up the comment section too much so i'll probably join the discord so i can rant properly but yeah good video and thanks again for the shout out

Firstly no problem, I’m glad I was able to mention you! And yeah I gotta be honest I only read the first couple chapters but I did really like what I saw, it’s a bit cluttered because of how much us going on but besides that it is a really fun concept and does remind me of city of hero’s lmao. I do plan on actually doing a deep dive on everything that happens in ppgd but I just could figure out how to format that type of video but I’m gonna keep working on it because it’s definitely something I’m interested in diving deeper into. There were definitely a lot of weird moments in those first couple of issues but I do love some of the ideas they had. I also don’t get why jack is just a gym teacher and not their actual sensi. But the comics history and bleedmans controversy are enough to have its own video as it is. But before that I’m thinking of doing a ppg iceberg? Possibly. Please recommend any ideas though, your video ideas are always fantastic.

ALAS, PPG/SBFF never happened. It was a fan mock-up when the series was just a handful of shorts, and NOT the new incarnation of the DC Superhero Girls series...whiiich is weird considering that when it WAS an official TV series they never got a crossover comic that was...all SORTS of obvious since Lauren is Craig's wife and she not only wrote so many PPG eps, she also MADE SBFF/DC Superhero Girls G2...

I never knew this had a comic at all. I remembered the fan one a little. I also remembered the fan grim tales. It was bloody awesome 👍🏾 i loved that one the most. I wasn't going to get mad because the show was about jokes & stuff. So i just laughed...then move to the next chapter. There's way worse stuff out there.

Well, that was obvious... at least for me.
I think I've been on Internet enough to recognize the art style of a furry, or a lolicon.
But beside everything, yeah... the Twin Towers plot was in line with Mandy's character, but it shown a very poor taste and timing.
You can't talk yourself out of something, saying "it's just fiction", when you use a real (still fresh) tragedy for your story.

Personally, I feel like the DC Comics are canon but any Episode adaptations override those issues. This is because CN also did compilation comics from 1995-2012. Some of those included original powerpuff stories along with other CN Shows. One of the Billy and Mandy comics would later be referenced in the Season 5 epsiode "Keeper of the Reaper" with a Scooby-Doo Cameo. Plus the shows and comics would often share writers. At least in the cause for PPG & GAOBAM since those are the only ones I ever really looked into. Idk about IDW since I never got around to it. The solo IDW Comics could be canon cause they have no reason not to but I feel like the crossover stuff is non-canon.
1. Since the Punch Time Explosion Video Game isn't canon
2. Unless they do dimension hopping stuff, it would kinda be a GAOTKND situation. Basically, Billy & Mandy had a Kids Next Door crossover in 2007. This crossover can't be canon since both shows have Christmas episodes that are important to the series lore. The santas and whole christmas system are vastly different in B&M compared to KND. Both also deviating from the powerpuff girls' potrayal in *it's* Christmas special. Hope that helps atleast
Also, as a PPGD reader it is SO DANG CONVOLUTED. Everything after 2014 is kinda messy and the long wait between chapters without rereading can easily make you forget what's going on. And the output's been slow since 2010
That’s not a bad way of looking at it, you may be right. I mean it would make sense that the only issues that wouldn’t be considered canon would be the ones they overwrote in the series itself.
But could we really consider it all canon, even with the idw stuff? It makes sense that it would be the case but I just wish we had a more clear timeline because besides the movie it’s hard to tell when anything takes place.
If we get any answers I will definitely make another video but yeah it’s an interesting topic, also yeah I’m sure any ppgd hardcore fans have dropped off since.
Especially with the lack of content and the incoherent story. It sounds like it’s just one big mess of characters with no end in sight unfortunately.
But I know some people still get enjoyment out of it so that’s cool. But I hear we getting new official ppg comics soon so that’ll be really fun

This was a great video, a good beginning overview.. that being said not sure why the IDW comics main run was treated as a footnote.
Those were I think some of their highest quality comics overall. Not that the crossover issues were bad at all, all of the IDW material was awesome. I can understand not including the PPGZ manga in this video though because it is pretty darn obscure and kind of mediocre, though it at least does have plenty of original ideas in it.
That being said i'd love it if if overpowered androids were more of a thing in the franchise like Alpha and Beta were in that work.
I also think the Choose Your Own adventure style books clearly don't count as comics but they are too cool for me not to recc looking into, I mean they had an evil clone of buttercup (Bittercup) walk so that the Rowdyruffs could fly.
It's not a problem though because it means you have the potential to ma more future videos ha ha ;-)

Thanks for watching and yeah, the Powerpuff girls IDW comic has a lot of history so I’m thinking that I’ll just give that its own video. Same thing with the Powerpuff girls Z manga, that was gonna get its own video too and still will eventually! Both of these comics have so much in them and I was kinda running out of storage while making this video so I had to trim some things down but yeah no worries, the content will get better with time! Like the Ruffs staying dead until basically Satan revived them, the girls remembering Princesses slights in the Christmas special, hell several episodes only could work as sequels to others. Completely fair, it’s a very interesting web comic, I thought it was kinda fun
I think we can in 2024 be mature enough to not demonise a guy for his taste in loli. But I remember actively reading the comic back in the day when I got to that bit. I always remembered it as Grim being the one that did it though, not Mandy. It was definitely one of the best fancomics of it's time but that moment annihilated it's reputation. Feels so weird to hear that comic mentioned so many years later. I imagine most of the people watching this video were born after the last time I read a page... Oh and nice to hear about the official comics. I was never aware there even were any until now. Fun that they stole some of the better elements of Bleedman's comic.

In my opinion, I think the DC comics are a degree of canon, and honestly in the case of Moral Decay, the comic counterpart is better than the episode! The comics were also good because you would get original villains, or some villains who were originally one-offs getting a new plot (White Kitty and Abracadaver coming to mind).
The IDW Comics- there is a lot more to look at than just the crossover stuff. Particularly the "Second Chances" arc, which in my opinion, serves as a good character conclusion for Fuzzy, the Gangreen Gang, and Princess. I think of it as canon, considering Ace later went on to be a Gorillaz member.
Bleedman is honestly, a hack. He relied so hard on the crossover stuff and anime style that people obsessed over in the 2000s, but as an actual PPG comic, his doujin is pretty terrible. His depiction of HIM, removing all of his flamboyance honestly makes me think he might be homophobic on top of the loli and incest crap.
I’m thinking that I’m going to look deeper into not only the ppg comics but every Cartoon Network comic and discuss their canon or lack of. I find it really interesting and yeah I need to read a bit deeper into them because those Powerpuff comics are pretty great.
As far as bleedman goes yeah i know a lot of people love them but they are definitely a mess and there’s no end in sight for the comic so it’s something that I wouldn’t recommend to people to read. And him being homophobic wouldn’t surprise me a bit.

The irony is the comic Deja Vu was supposed to be a full length episode but was canceled because Kids Next Door came out with an episode similar to that plot. I don't know how much of that rumor is true though. It could just be a coincidence. Speaking of comics I remember drawing a fan-made badly drawn Powerpuff Girls comic when I was younger. I remember the plot well but I never drew the ending. Maybe someday I might finish the story even though I still can't draw.

@@Childishju I kind of wish the deja vu comic did become an episode because the character designs on the Powerpuff Girls were really epic. Luckily people posted the comic online so I was able to read it. BTW if you ever heard of the movie Little Shop of Horrors basically my comic was the Powerpuff Girls Versus Audrey 2 and half of Townsville was getting eaten by Audrey 2 and her children. I drew this when I was a kid and I don't know if anyone would be interested in reading something like that. But if you like the idea then that's good enough for me.

@@Childishju my sister helped me with some of the pages as well she created the scenario with the narrator from PPG arguing with the 3 singers from little shop as a running gag in random panels. I also remember the professor creating a chemical X plant killer concoction and the last thing I drew was Seymour sacrificing himself to save bubbles. Someday when I'm motivated enough I'm going to redraw this from scratch and I'm going to make the ending.
