Next thing you know about 10 boys crowded him and they were all talking about Winx Club and the different things they liked about the show. Even back then I found it really nice :D
I've loved magical girls all my life- grew up with sailor moom and Winx (and Barbie but she's not part of that genre) and I've never been scared of expressing my love for "girly shows'. Mx favorite has been Madoka Magica for years now and its nice to know that I have this passion since my early childhood- anyway
Can't forget about the Precure series. Despite the series not being AS good as it was back then, there are still some entries that are considered the best by the community, like Fresh, Go! Princess, and HeartCatch.
I always get giddy when guys dissect and methodically elaborate little girl shows with great memory and precision. Boys that watched girl shows were like the dark horses of their child peers
As a male fan, I really wish the specialists were written better. In the show, male fairies exist, but their designs are very generic and it's never stated how their magic worked. And the specialists were never really able to help the girls against magical beings since they had no magic themselves. Plus they had interesting story potenial, but it was often ignored (ie Riven' mom abandoning him--not sure if that was canon in every dub, though).
I hear you but at the same time we have to remember Winx Club is a show primarily aimed at young girls. Hence the storyline would primarily feature young girls.
Plus the specialists having no magic is a key factor to how the show works. The Winx are meant to be stronger than the Specialists as the Winx are the main heros and so when the Specialists do show up to help such as Timmy saving Tecna or Red Fountain fighting with Alfea against the Trix it raises the stakes
@@Yingkoos I get that the specialists don't command as much screentime, but I wish they were more than love interests. That's why I'm glad Iginio acknowledged the large male fanbase for the reboot. And your second point is kinda a big issue: the specialists CAN'T fight on the level of the Winx. It's not that the winx are stronger; it'd be different if they had magic but the girls were just harder workers or had more innate talent. It kinda reminds me of how "Miraculous" lifts the female protagonist up by having the male lead be less development/competence, as well as plot armor that makes it so that she has the specific power to save the day the "right" way. Even when he had the chance to save the day, she's very condescending to him about it. But this is just me!
I'm a guy who randomly made Winx Club videos back then because this show was my childhood. Fr tho, I'd rewatch Winx 10x over than a lot of female-centric shows in the West.
I'm a boy who loved generator rex and ben 10 but best believe Winx Club was on the top of the tierlist for me. Years later, that show is still my favourite and i'm glad to know i'm not the only one who loved it.
Season 5 was my childhood especially. I was 7 when it started airing and SAME; when I went to school I never told ANYONE I watched it, since I was thinking they'd all be like: "wth but you're a boy, that show's for girls" Now here I am at 19 wishing I DID tell more people that I watched it.
20 years later I'm lowkey still obsessed with this series: I started learning Italian because of Winx Club, my first online friends were because of Winx Club, the fandom got me through one of the hardest times of my life. I don't think I'd be the same person today, no joke. And also one of the leading major fandom sites I went to was founded by a dude, Michael's Winx Club. AND the show was made by a man ffs. Why shouldn't it be for everyone?
As kid watching some episodes of Winx on Jetix( and in spanish to boot~~ !!), i thought it was so cool seeing girls fight evil witches and monsters. My favorite arc in the show was the darkar arc, and the reason for why i like this arc is because darkar as a villain along with starting my love for red-hair ladies..... Dark bloom realllly corrupted me as a kid and i have no regerts at all !!😏
My former Bestie was obsessed with Winx Club, he wasn't afraid to say it even though we were in the age where you could get bullied for that, idk if he still does but he was a really cool kid^^
This is so true. I was drawn to this show from the very beginning by how muscular the specialists were (Season 2), as well as the amazing transformation sequences (I could spend more time than I'm comfortable nerding out about how cool Season 3 was for slowly doling out Enchantix, as well how awesome but undercooked Believix and Roxy were).
There's was definitely a good amount of guys who watch the Winx club but wouldn't come out and fully admitted because they was not trying to get flamed by their friends or judge by the peers for watching a quote on quote "girl show" but the show was kind of for everybody had something that people can relate to on both ends
I watched Winx Club with my older brother all the time. It was also never weird that I enyoed many boyish series like Ninjago as a girl, so nobody ever got jugded for that
It was kinda mesmerizing to watch for a little kid, now that i am thinking about it. It was SO colorful! None of other shows at the time were as colorful as winx
In this house we stan Timmy 🙈🙏 I also love how you talk about the Trix. It was almost the same for me when I was young and watched Winx for the first time, besides I'm a girl lol. I loved them. I admired them. Little 8yo me wanted to be like them. I even made extra anime or winx themed birthday parties so I could basically cosplay Icy. I was obsessed with these bad bitches and I still am. And of course Stella rules! Love to see how boys admit they enjoyed the show too. It was pretty normal for girls to watch boy's stuff but the other way round was always made up as problematic. But a good show stays a good show, no matter what audience it's made for.❤
I remember this show because of (if I remember correctly) a Christmas special and the fact that one of my friends tried to get me to sing along to the winx club op about 20 times in a car ride. Yes, we're both boys. And no, I never quite got the lyrics.
I'm a boy and I was and still am a huge fan of Winx Club. Never saw any reason to hide it. I don't own any merch or anything, but I've seen seasons one through three. I've been meaning to watch the rest for a long time, but haven't been able to just yet.
as I guy, I can confirm. This show was my childhood, I have so many fuzzy memories of going onto the old family computer and binge watching as much of the show as I could find on youtube.
You're telling me I could have been kicking my feet, giggling about Winx club lore with guys this entire time?.... I need to rewatch this show and Totally Spies. I completely forgot how serious the series got after season 1. Also for Darcy my beloved!
Alright here’s a funny one. I watched all the “girl” shows Kim possible, winx, and totally spies. I would only watch them when my mom wasn’t around because I was worried she might think I was actually a girl. Not sure how that would work but that’s what 3 year old thought.
Well, the boys of my class back when we were like 10-12 all loved Sailor Moon... it wasn't just because of the skirts however. We actually fought who "the best girlfriend" would be, and defended personalities and traits. That innocent time when boys suddenly want to be with girls but do not yet understand why (beyond kissing).
Man, I remember Winx Club from Middle school days, I still can't get over how hot Bloom was in her "Dark Bloom" mode, straight up Dark Supergirl vibes right there. Also Darcy was a REAL BADDIE ngl, I was so downbad for her LOL 😂
Winx club, sailor moon, totally spies, powerpuff girls, the life and times of juniper lee, braceface, Kim Possible! The list goes on. Although I had no intrest whatsoever in My little pony.
Honestly, the only bad thing in the video is the way you characterize Stella. my queen of the sun and moon is not a spoiled brat! and Brandon in the original dubbing only pretended to be Sky because he wanted to see what it was like to be a normal boy (and depending on the version, they change identities for political reasons). I know the dubbing you grew up with is nostalgic, but the 4Kids dub changes a lot of things from the original.
Pretty sure that the wanting to pretend to be a normal guy it's from 4kids, in the original Italian dub and most of dubs sky changes identities with Brandon because he was in danger because a terrorist group from his planet was target him
Thanks for the comment but I do distinctly remember Brandon being nervous when he had to reveal his true identity to Stella who accepted him gladly afterwards because she loved him
Ugh! This was the video that needed to be made. Everyone acts like Winx Club was only for the girls and that if guys watched it then it was just because it had the Specialists. Truth is, a good show is a good show and Winx knew how to make it interesting for EVERYONE… until season 5 but that’s a whole other thing in itself.
Video is great, explaining most od the great characters in the show, but i feel like it's a missed opportunity here that you did not mention Musa. She is a great character given her personal conflict about mother, how she misses her. It's actually a pretty touching storyline, making some drama in the series. I also would've pointed out how thanks to her friends Musa managed to open up and become more feminine through first seasons, exploring her girly side more, and not sticking to wearing only jeans, having short hair, and being just a meanie in general. Maybe she is not written as well as Stella, but it deserves some more attention!
Man This show takes me back and its definitely true when I was a kid, while at a CD vendor I pointed at a winx club movie and the vendor said "Are you sure? It's for girls." In my local language. But me having a kid brain just enjoys this shit and kept pointing at it until my parents bought it for me. Also most of my neighbors were girls so at playtime we roleplay the characters. Good old times
u just unlocked a childhood memory for me lol also I enjoyed it as a boy tbh Ig boys might be scared to be called gay for liking it or something. Nothing gay about it tho, juat enjoy what u wanna enjoy :)
i was so obsessed with this show as a kid - its so cool to hear that boys were enjoying it too! my heart yearns for more winx content, its so sad that the newer stuff is unwatchable :( magical girl transformation esque shows are inspired by anime like Sailor Moon & were always targetted to early teens (like how ATLA is) but now they think they should appeal to 5 year olds.
Yeah.. that awkward moment when im playing GTA4 while my little sister making me watch two seasons of winx club at the corner of my eye. Yeah. That did happen.
As a boy myself i can reassure you that back in the day we did watched and loved winx club but it was one of those things that you do but wont say you do despite knowing yall all do it coz its funny how now the word winx club come up when me and the boyz talk abt childhood cartoons and we all know every single episode but still no one openly admits to watching or loving it. 😂They always say my sister made me Watch it but we all know the truth and some of us dont even have sisters
Just an interesting fact about my country's dubs. The first national television that aired Winx Club only made Seasons 1-3. But once we got the Nickelodeon version, it went from Seasons 3-7. Yes. There is 2 versions of Hungarian Dub in my country. And also, this cartoon not only had an impact on me, but it also helped me inspire my OCs in many ways. Mixing it with my favorite tastes. Majorly Winx Club was the magical power section. Dragon Ball Z was the Super Saiyan like transformations. And Sailor Moon inspired the Crystal Knight transformation for my OCs.
I was amused to hear that in russia, boys also watched Winx club in 2010's, and it was even common. But then again, I also, as a girl, watched it quietly, and didnt have anyone of my peers to share my love for cartoon with. My main heartbreak in childhood was that there were never any winx dolls at any store. But as soon as I grew up out of the doll age, they appeared. Yet I did collect kinder surprise ugly mini winx dolls. Now, as an adult, I can scult my own figurine.
As a kid (cca. 2009), my best friend was a boy in my class who loooved Winx Club as much as all the girls at school did. He got bullied for it by the other boys, but that didn't stop him from playing pretend Winx on the playground with the rest of us. All the girls in the class were happy that they finally had someone who wanted to play the Specialists and villains like Darkar and Valtor, and we appreciated him for it. He was a real one. As a girl myself at the time, I loved shows ''for boys'' like Ben 10, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bakugan etc. and all the boys were always happy that they had a girl in class who would play pretend with them, while the other girls would constantly give me weird looks for it. I never understood the need to separate shows ''for girls'' from shows ''for boys''. We all loved all kinds of different kids' shows as children/teens, regardless of what kind of audience they were meant for. There shouldn't be any shame or prejudice when it comes to liking or watching cartoons.
I only saw one episode but I loved it... a good story is a good story . Also I love Barbie animated movies they have such a great fantasy world that I wish I could explore...
As a kid i just watched everything that was on television, zapping through channels which looked the most appealing. Never did i think about: "euh, thats just for boys/girls.." Its always the media (sometimes parents) who always try to distinguish between genders and what would be appropriate.. Edit: i admit i never really watched winx club, but i freaking loved sailor moon man.
I mean it was never a secret. I grew up watching Sailor Moon years before Winx Club came out, so I was always a magical girl fan. lol Not to mention, The Powerpuff Girls etc. lol
I think you should reconsider your take on season 4. That season had nothing to do with the ones from 5-8 & is still heavily connected to the first three seasons with hand drawn animation, unique and more mature outfits, deep story arcs that represent real life issues and showcase them in a metaphorical way (like women suppression), and even character deaths.
@@Yingkoos dw there’s no 3D animation, and from what I remember, no overly sparkly dresses either. my only complaint about s4 is Roxy can sometimes be annoying and Nabu dying
@@Yingkoos there is no 3d and the season has interesting storylines and concepts, BUT the characters often get incredibly dumb and out of character and the story only picks up in the second half of the season.
One complaint i have for and after season 4 is the fact that enchantix that was hyped up in season 3 to be this ultimate transformation, bloom even got an intense training to unlock it and it was never used again afterwards. Would have been very interesting if they still used enchantix for many situations while the other transformations they got after season 4 was more of specific situations rather than completely replacing enchantix.
@@Timepilot94season 8? Never knew that existed, because i dropped season 7 half way when that was the latest season during my rewatch because of how much toddler like the show had become.
When I was young I consumed pretty much any type of cartoon based content, didn't matter if it was for kids, adults, girls... whatever you name it, but for me my guilty pleasure was card captor sakura
tbh i like to watch for the guys because of their cool lightsabers/weapons and their drip was pretty cool. other than that the storylines and action were fun to watch

Mx favorite has been Madoka Magica for years now and its nice to know that I have this passion since my early childhood- anyway
nice
Ooooo, I love madoka magica. The music and story is fantastic and I love their abilities
I watched the crap out Swan Lake and I ain't gonna hide that fact... But the REAL REAL goat is and always will be Kim Possible.
Don't forget W.I.T.C.H, Mew Mew Power, Sailor Moon, Magical Do Re Mi 🤣🤣🤣
@@OpticalSorcererdon’t worry too much creators of Winx Club made another show called Huntik that got a lot of competent male characters
@@Yingkoos I've seen Huntik, but it doesn't really have the fun, colorful, fantasy magic that WC did. It was a traditional "guys show."
ngl Winx Club, Totally Spies, Barbie and Kim Possible had me by the throat when i was 6 and i loved every second of it
I'm a guy who randomly made Winx Club videos back then because this show was my childhood. Fr tho, I'd rewatch Winx 10x over than a lot of female-centric shows in the West.
Funny enough Winx Club is also a Western show as it was made in Italy but I get what you mean 😂😂😂
Hell yeah haha! Totally spies anyone?
To this day the opening songs lives rent free in my head
Me too, that’s why I had to sing it
AS A GUY that watches winx as kid now i did whole rewatch of season 2-5 and i still love it (season 3 is my fav!)
season 3 was amazing
second half of season 4 and season 5 is when it started to go bad not gonna lie and season 7 just switched demographic completely.
I'm from the italian region where Winx Club was made. I've never watched it lol but god was it ubiquitous with the merchs and commercials.
I loved Winx Club as a kid, I even started showing it to my bestie who likes magical girls
Wine Club definitely fit the magical girls trope

About to unlock a lot more when you watch this video 😂😂😂
The girls were drawn adorable and hot, also totally spies was 100% designed with boys in mind 😂😂😂😂
Tecna is my favorite, she’s one the reasons I grew up loving tomboys.
But tecna’s not a tomboy
@@c-anime23I think it’s more about the fact that she isn’t ”the usual gal”
The amount of happiness and relief I feel knowing that way more guys watched it like I did
Wait other guys watched this too?!!! I thought I was the only one, this show was my guilty pleasure as a kid lol
Nope you're not the only one. It still is my guilty pleasure to this day. whenever I get that sense of nostalgia for the old days
Season 5 was my childhood especially. I was 7 when it started airing and SAME; when I went to school I never told ANYONE I watched it, since I was thinking they'd all be like: "wth but you're a boy, that show's for girls"
Now here I am at 19 wishing I DID tell more people that I watched it.
Fellow Aisha enjoyer 🤝

I am 29 , im a man and winx club is my all-time favorote cartoon in terms of story and plot.. ofc the first 4 seasons only. ♥️
Dark bloom realllly corrupted me as a kid and i have no regerts at all !!😏
Dark Bloom was a generational talent
I mean bloom was a icon too
@@Bluemoonplayz Heyyyy....That's what's up !! 👌🏼

My former Bestie was obsessed with Winx Club, he wasn't afraid to say it even though we were in the age where you could get bullied for that, idk if he still does but he was a really cool kid^^
Former? How come he becomes your former bestie???
This is so true.
I was drawn to this show from the very beginning by how muscular the specialists were (Season 2), as well as the amazing transformation sequences (I could spend more time than I'm comfortable nerding out about how cool Season 3 was for slowly doling out Enchantix, as well how awesome but undercooked Believix and Roxy were).
Winx club is something that I remember fondly, but will never rewatch because that will fit sure ruin my nostalgia
There's was definitely a good amount of guys who watch the Winx club but wouldn't come out and fully admitted because they was not trying to get flamed by their friends or judge by the peers for watching a quote on quote "girl show" but the show was kind of for everybody had something that people can relate to on both ends
winx fashion was really top tier, i remember collecting sticker albums n even my teacher liked them!! my country made somthing good for once
Bruh.....I loved this show so much. I remember hanging out with the girls and boys in my class geeking tf out. Good times.
In this house we stan Timmy 🙈🙏
I also love how you talk about the Trix. But a good show stays a good show, no matter what audience it's made for.❤
Thank you for your beautifully worded comment
I remember this show because of (if I remember correctly) a Christmas special and the fact that one of my friends tried to get me to sing along to the winx club op about 20 times in a car ride. Yes, we're both boys. And no, I never quite got the lyrics.
One of the most underrated gems from my childhood
Real
I have never met a boy my age who didn't love Winx Club - also must not forget W.I.T.C.H., Totally Spies or Kim Possible.
You're absolutely right. But you forgot Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses and skydancers. And then the list is complete. Bratz was lowkey overrated
I'm a boy and I was and still am a huge fan of Winx Club. Never saw any reason to hide it. I don't own any merch or anything, but I've seen seasons one through three. I've been meaning to watch the rest for a long time, but haven't been able to just yet.
AND CLOSE KNIT FRIENDSHIPS!!!
That show taught me standards for my ride or dies!
as I guy, I can confirm.
My dad died when I was 10 so nothing stopped me from watching this masterpiece with no shame.
Damn bro
😅😂
This show really shape my taste in women fr like that style they have and that small waist and wide hips 😭😤 as a kid i had a crush on all of them
Alright here’s a funny one. I watched all the “girl” shows Kim possible, winx, and totally spies. I would only watch them when my mom wasn’t around because I was worried she might think I was actually a girl. Not sure how that would work but that’s what 3 year old thought.
Real
Absolutely, I am proud to say "I love Winx club"
I watched it as a kid and I watch clips of it right now
Well, the boys of my class back when we were like 10-12 all loved Sailor Moon... it wasn't just because of the skirts however. We actually fought who "the best girlfriend" would be, and defended personalities and traits. That innocent time when boys suddenly want to be with girls but do not yet understand why (beyond kissing).
i did watch a few episodes wen my sister was watching it, but totally spies definitely got me hooked fr
Pretty sure that the wanting to pretend to be a normal guy it's from 4kids, in the original Italian dub and most of dubs sky changes identities with Brandon because he was in danger because a terrorist group from his planet was target him
Thanks for the comment but I do distinctly remember Brandon being nervous when he had to reveal his true identity to Stella who accepted him gladly afterwards because she loved him
And let’s not lie season 1 Stella was very much a spoilt princess but her character growth is one of the best in the series as I’ve shown
Well yeah. Cuz it was a front to keep from having to dealing with her divorced parents @Yingkoos
@@Yvonne-Bellatho I do see that. I feel big part of why Stella is like that is that it’s just apart of her core personality
Winx: Sign me up
totally spies: FUCK YEAH
I’m a Boy and I watch Winx Club, When I was Young and early in the morning, I watched it. And I do not regret it. I love the nostalgia!
Tecna is my #1 because I just know nobody else would save the universe 🙄

@@Yingkoos 😯fair actually
It's true. I remember loving Winx club, I secretly watched it when had time, but I never told anyone.
Good old times
u just unlocked a childhood memory for me lol also I enjoyed it as a boy tbh
Ig boys might be scared to be called gay for liking it or something.

OMG THIS IS VERY TRUEEE STILL NOW... HAPPY 20TH YEARS OF MAGIC WINX.. GUARDIAN FAIRIES OF LIGHT
I was a Totally Spies kid, but the Italians were cooking back then...
Word is, the Specialists.
They were awesome
The first movie was the true series finale.
And Sailor Moon inspired the Crystal Knight transformation for my OCs.
its nice Winx Club got dubbed into so many different languages
I got into winx in recent times and i love it wishing i saw it sooner
Glad you’re enjoying
As a kid i just watched everything that was on television, zapping through channels which looked the most appealing. Never did i think about: "euh, thats just for boys/girls.." Its always the media (sometimes parents) who always try to distinguish between genders and what would be appropriate..
Edit: i admit i never really watched winx club, but i freaking loved sailor moon man.
Still gonna watch tho 😅
Of course you are bro
I mean it was never a secret. I grew up watching Sailor Moon years before Winx Club came out, so I was always a magical girl fan. lol Not to mention, The Powerpuff Girls etc. lol
I only watched this show once or twice, but there were epic battles. I was also starved of Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokémon at that point.
"just fight that tornado with your bare hands" IS CRAZY 😭😭😭
I think you should reconsider your take on season 4. That season had nothing to do with the ones from 5-8 & is still heavily connected to the first three seasons with hand drawn animation, unique and more mature outfits, deep story arcs that represent real life issues and showcase them in a metaphorical way (like women suppression), and even character deaths.
If you can promise me no 3D animation or overly sparkly dresses then maybe 🤔
