    This thing is totally epic. Delays of all types modulations galore, multi functioned at the same time with a full on synthesizer sound from a single note. just amazing. Great review guys this must have taken some real prep work to get your head around all the different settings and sounds.

      Haha...yeah the Meris stuff is always crammed full of features. It took me just about a whole day of playing with this pedal and the Mercury 7 (video coming very soon) to get familiar with it and kinda know what all the functions do. We actually ended up buying a second one because both Alex & I liked the pedal so much
      Thanks Robert!!

    A very nice pedal, this is what I like Delay with modulations, seems like a really good pedal if you like this sort of thing, it has a vast amount of functionality to be able to edit so much, if you are someone who enjoys delving into your gear and creating your desired sounds then this is a great pedal for you, this would make me really happy and I’d be lost for hours & days getting into it and developing my desired effects, a very creative pedal which is what I like and would work for me creating ambient effects and tones. some people don’t like getting into their gear so much and want to just plug in and play and might be to complex, that’s an individuals choice. Thanks for the review always my go to channel for pedal and gear reviews/demos.

    Thank you for making this video. I just got one and made craploads of crazy sounds but didn't know how I did it. Also, yes there are other videos by Meris & the Pedal zone which where very good(especially The Pedal Zone) but they did some of the settings with captions but way too fast to absorb so thank you again for slowly going through every setting & combo slowly...Greatly appreciated it!

    The thing with pedals like this, is that I am hesitant to buy as I am worried I would never figure out how to use the thing. You guys did a fantastic job explaining what this does and HOW it works! By far the best over view of this pedal I have found. THIS is my next pedal. Thanks for taking the time to put together this walk through. New subscriber!!! Looking forward to other overviews of pedals like this. Great job.

    I am still understanding how this pedal fits my playing and I am 3 months in! Why I tuned in! It requires time to mentally understand. I recommend a midi controller to store the many sounds you will find. One would have great difficulty unless they spend vast amounts of time to kind of previsualize in your mind the sounds you want. So storing cool sounds via midi is the way to go in my opinion. Great review.

    Agree it's special. Just got one to pair with my Chase Bliss Mood mk.II. Because I love the reverb on the left-hand side of the Mood. So, the Polymoon makes a great partner. They're completely complementary but in a way I think the closest thing to the Polymoon is Mood. Because even though they are comp they share similar approaches: the soundworld, the kinds of musicians that will be interested in them, the fact that they are instruments/laboratories not just guitar pedals, the fact they are as good for synths as guitars, the stereo in/out, the midi control and exprssion, the way that the offer a contiuum between delay and reverb; the dual processing model (delay+modulation vs. microlooping+delay or reverb) that interacts in complex but deeply well-thought out ways; and the price bracket too. They're not at all cheap, but both so very worth it. The Chase Bliss costs a bit more, but it also does a bit more, and the build is a bit more premium (e.g. the bit reduction, slip mode). Though the bigger form factor of the Polymoon makes it a bit easier to learn/use. Though I feel like the Polymoon would have benefitted with a layer of subtle secondary markers on the overlay. Like for the many modulation settings, alt settings etc... I realise they wanted a clean look, but maybe a compromise in usability that meant less manual checking or having to remember/guess how to set it up. But Mood is more complex again to remember how to use it so, and even though it's so powerful for it's size, that same compactness makes it a bit fiddly to use.

    Ambient music is a specific form with a very limited audience other than to be effective in soundtracks where its functions primarily secondary to dialog or something visual. I have to ask myself why are their now quite literally hundreds delays and reverb to cater to a product with such a limited use ..especially as anything more than software. Until there is a output to a drummers brain even a tap function is a pointless extra. Add to that it does not add to the music ...it becomes the music so repeating its use after apply it to one tune it is all but redundant. In short they are very expensive toys for an audience of one!
    And no I am not missing the point that it is modern tool and I am somehow just locked in the past. In late 70's and 80's though I am not a keyboard player I taught keyboard players how to program synthesizers. But SURPRISE you could write new tunes with them. Yes you write the music the music did not write you.

    • @Loudmouth69
      @Loudmouth69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry sir, but yes, you are missing the point, and it does sound like you're a bit stuck in the past...
      Just because it can create Ambient soundscapes, it does not mean that it is limited to Ambient music. I use my Polymoon, (And other "expensive toys") for various of genres, in band settings.
      No, the devices does not make the music for you - But yes, it does add to the music. It can make the music you have created, sound even more beautiful. And it allows you to be more creative, and unique in your sound. Try the Polymoon on one of those synthesizers from the 80's you're talking about, and have your mind blown by the stereo magic.
      And for the record - a TAP tempo function is super useful!!! Would never buy a delay without. You don't need an output from the drummers brain, just tap the tempo of the rhythm your drummer is playing, and voila - you're in synch. It's that easy!

      @@Loudmouth69 It is not easy as I am in a 3 piece Prog Metal band and use 10 guitars and 70 pedals live at every gig.I can not write a piece of music and then add such effects because the effect adds discord to notes I have already played. I am forced to write music where I literally either have to wait for the effect to go silent before I play another note or allow the machine to dictate the music. I do not wish to even try to deal with such nonsense playing triplets at 220 bpm.99% of anything I have heard using this gear consists a melodically and harmonically simple childish nonsense. I have zero problem with simplicity as a choice but what I hear are those making music with a limited capacity making that choice for them. Add to that this music could and has been made with an algorithm. I am not new to using delay to enhance my music my first delay was a EchoPlex and the tube model at that. I know uses 4 digital delays and one analog delay and seldom have any turned off. I just have a beef with 'ambiance style delays which I consider novelty's and toys for those with extremely limited musical skills.I will leave it there. I just had pedal #71 delivered to my door ;-) and can't wait to try it.

      @@Paul_Lenard_Ewing clearly there is a market for it...so your "personal beef" with ambient delays is (fortunately) irrelevant to both the companies and their targeted customer base. 😅

    • @Paul_Lenard_Ewing
      @Paul_Lenard_Ewing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ripwildy2022 Is it a true market ...or a fad. I expect companies like Flamma may scratch the itch for good with pedals that quite literally all have Strymon spec but are selling for under $80. It is not hard as some of Strymons most popular pedals are using 12 year old chips. There has since been 2 generation of newer chips. I not criticizing the sound of the Strymon ...just pointing out they are not going to be very profitable for long. I can remember the big deal over Guitar synths too. It all but evaporated years and years ago. Digitch/DOD brought many clever products. They will shut down for good by Jan. 2022. I have never seen ANYTHING in equipment lasts unless it is identified as with a Rock Star guitar hero. It does not have one... and I doubt it can if the pedal is anything but window dressing to some flash playing which will require a skill on the guitar. Try playing triplets at 220 bpm or more with an ambient pedal.
      No one goes to live rock concert for a nap. So grab up your ambient pedals and meet me on stage and will see who gets the crowd up on their feet.
      The thing in the near future that will really be irrelevant is an ambient pedal. It will be the case for me of who laughs last.

      @@Paul_Lenard_Ewing "I am forced to write music where I literally either have to wait for the effect to go silent before I play another note or allow the machine to dictate the music"...or, you just set it in a way that does what you want it to do or dont use it at all, like normal people would?
      Complaining that playing triplets at 220 bpm into an ambient delay sounds bad is not a problem with the delay, the problem is you trying to do stuff that makes zero musical sense, and blaming the pedal when it doesnt work. Its just as nonsensical as a country-player complaining that "fuzz-pedals are useless", or a carpenter complaing about a chisel that is "a crappy handplane". Well, yes...but...erm...duh?
      "Limited musical skills"? Yeah...about that...no. Saying that this is "all a fad" because it doesnt fit your 3 man prog-band rocking crowds by playing 220 bpm triplets on 10 guitars through 70 pedals, is pretty much the definition of "missing the point that it is modern tool and being locked in the past". You continued that exact sentence with "In late 70's and 80's..." ffs. "Childish nonsense"? Tap tempo is useless on a delay? You are talking about stuff you clearly dont know very much about, from an extremely narrow perspective....which is ok...but the arrogance and ignorance makes you look a tiny bit silly though. Just sayin...
