Man, love all the preheat lights, beats the hell out of the instant start ones, I think it’s just more fun to watch and listen to when turning them on, love the tink sound when the come on. When I have my own house, and am a qualified electrician, I want everything fluoro like urs! And yes, I did like ‘em
I love that preheat startup flicker. And I thought I was the only weirdo that had a fluorescent light obsession. My wife would never let me put these all over the house 🤣. I recently acquired a Lights of America brand fluorescent shop light, probably 20 years old, never used and still brand new in it’s box. It’s a “rapid start” and uses two T12’s. I put a couple of T12’s in there, and only one would light up. Thinking maybe one of the lamps was bad, I reversed them and still only one lit up. I decided to take it apart out of curiosity to see what was going on with it. It appears that each bulb has it’s own ballast, which consists of a tiny transformer and what looks like a foil igniter. The whole thing appeared to be very cheaply made garbage. I thought I could resurrect and Frankenstein it it with a new conventional ballast, but I’m not even sure it’s worth the trouble.
@@DieselDucy I have a T8 electronic ballast designed for two lamps, that I resurrected from an old light fixture that was thrown away. I thought about gutting the cheapo junk ballasts out of there, and wiring this T8 ballast in there and throwing a couple of T8 tubes in there, ala 5,000k. I could just put new LED shop lights in my garage to replace the failing 4,000k LED shop lights that I put up there a few years ago, but what’s the fun in that? I want to return everything to honest to goodness fluorescent shop lights. They just have so much more character. 😀😆
The library in my town had these light fixtures in the 3rd floor but they were bigger and the there was a 1940s remodel and they installed the fluorescent fixtures. They were there in the 80s and when I was in elementary school and they were cool. They replaced the fluorescent lighting fixtures and installed reproduction light fixtures in 1996 but the library got burned by a vandal and now he is in jail but it was a miracle they saved the oldest portion of the building. They took the reproduction light fixtures out most likely temporarily and will be reinstalled after the remodel. The building will open up by Thanksgiving month.
I have a solution for the ceiling fan problem, replaced the light kit with a light kit with a single socket in the middle. Now screw in a circleline fluresnt light that, problem solved!
I think that you are not happy because you did not say epic after turning on the lights in the bedroom. The golden mood light had an epic starter sound, the pink shop light had a great startup, and the blue f40t12 had an excellent starter action.
That is now on my next weeks shopping list once I get a 4 foot fixtures and remove the (Chinatown) electronic ballast and install this new (yes new) preheat ballast, hard to find these days but findable if you accept Google as your best friend
A great selection of old favorites! Love the current install and looking forward to future additions!

amazing! i’ve always found fluorescents (particularly preheats) to be very fascinating.
Same here! I love them.
Beautiful lamps! :)
Thank you! 😊

I have quite a few light fixtures I’ve fixed up. The typical preheat ballast looks like a simple transformer.

I know the light from Jason in the bedroom doesn’t blink very much when it wasn’t restored but it had epic starter sounds
The starters sound epic.

I don’t remember. Will be doing a new video soon
Very nicht. I habe an 1955 Kaiser Idell Light Fixture with 2 F40 T12 bulbs in my kittchen.
Ha! I remember that talking toilet from the early days of your TH-cam
Hey andrew, just a quick question, how often are you operating (being the engineer) of a train that runs thru bluefield?
I’m going to install then in my house when I get one
Please make a video of tinkle bird playing with the toilet
i think i have security camera footage posted here somewhere :)
