    DIN = Deutsche Industrie Norm = German Industrial Norm. Best regards from Berlin.

    • @Sebastian85
      @Sebastian85 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      To be 100 percent correct: DIN stands for "Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V." (German Institute for Standardization). A "german industrial norm" doesnt exist. There are only "DIN-Normen" in english: "DIN-Standards". Best Regards. Sebastian

    You know, 556 (weather 556a or 556i) is a great choice. Every time i look on my wrist, it makes me smile because of many reasons:
    1) it is extremely legible: one can tell the correct time within a fraction of a second.
    2) it is underrated and almost invisible for those, who don't know watches, but is very respected by those, who know
    3) the lume may not be the brightest, but it lasts quite a long time. And the black dial helps a lot to create contrast.
    4) it is pretty accurate for a mechanical watch. Hardly ever adjust this watch within 1-2 mounths. It doesen't mean that movement runs within 1-2 seconds a day. More like ± 5-8 seconds a day, but it somehow evens out during the day/night
    5) water resistance of 200m is impressive and gives you a peace of mind. Especially if you work with patients, antiseptics and wish to wash your watch fairly often
    6) wearing comfort is superb!
    7) this feeling of having a better value watch, that is sometimes more rare and definetrly more respected than Rolex, Tudor, Omega and other luxury brands.

    Great review. Great watch. You deserve bonus points for not only providing a wrist-shot, but a body-shot as well. Those are much more informative and every single review should do them.

  • @peters4324
    @peters4324 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have the same wrist size as you 7.25. Thank you for doing the body shots because it really helps to know how the watch will look on me. The close ups everyone does are not very helpful. Thanks again for that and it helped me make up my mind. Yes!

  • @Guinea54
    @Guinea54 5 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    That's a great idea to show a body shot from a distance.. I haven't even seen anyone do that.. People definitely should. I guess not everyone wants to if they don't have a good physique like you do. But it def helps the review.

    It was great review.
    This watch is really ultra super legible.
    I can read the time even without reading glasses.
    I bought this red color second hand yesterday and I love it.
    I wonder if the price is more or less the same as it is in US.

    Love this watch. I keep coming back to it. If they stopped making it I would snag one immediately thinking it would be sure to skyrocket in price. Instead, I keep telling myself one day after.... I should stop playing this game and just get one. I know I would wear the crap out of it.

    I have the Sinn 556IB, which I consider to be the German answer to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 and the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, but with a water-resistance rating that bests its Swiss counterparts!

  • @rumporridge1
    @rumporridge1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    At 200m water resistance, these Sinn models represent great value compared to its rivals. German craftsmanship is top notch and my Sinn 104 st sa on a Staib mesh can't get enough compliments.

    I'm curious if you think it's worth shelling out the extra cabbage for the 856 A? I'm looking at the two and having a hard time deciding. Great video.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends: the 856 is tegimented, antimagnetic and 2mm bigger in diameter, so if you want that, yes. If you don't: no. I have a 556I (well it wasn't named I when i bought it because the 556 A didn't exist back then) and a 857. The 857 i put on while at work, the 556 for the rest of time. At work i usually don't have time to be carefull about not scratching the case or puting it into strong el-magnetic fields etc. Also, what doesn't come out on pictures as good: the tegimented case is a bit darker than the 556 case. (looks a bit like titanium, but is heavier due to the antimagnetic case) The 556 case is a bright white steel and ussually has a crystal caseback.

    I have the older version of this watch, and I guess the finish on mine is "blasted" in some way or another. Almost looks like it's tegimented but I'm pretty sure it's not. The version you're wearing has a standard brush/polished thing going on, yeah?

    • @NutriBRO

      ams914 yep it’s not tegimented. To be honest it kinda looks blasted...but it’s still considered satin as far as I know.

    The concerns about the external AR coating are needless these days. Sinn had an issue with their crystals having a really fragile external coating a few years ago, but it was recognised and rectified by. I've hit the crystal on my own 2017 Sinn 556i several times and it's been left 100% unmarked.

    • @nirfz

      I’ve also heard guys say they have never been able to scratch seiko’s hardlex. Not sure what you guys do for a living, my Sinn crystal had small scratches in the AR within the first 2 weeks of owning it. I don’t care because I bought it to use.

    Had u1, 356 and 103. Have to say quality is close to the older omega or brietling before they gone in house. Had damasko also but Lume is weak, everything else is slightly tougher than sinn.

    So. What watches do you really want.

  • @Jsuarez6
    @Jsuarez6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review! As others have mentioned, the full body shot with the watch does give a better perspective on the size of the watch as opposed to just a wrist shot.
    I like when a watch can pull off the 4:30 date window. A black dial with black date window and white date. Like that you can see the date when you want to. And when you just glance to see the time all you see is the time. Although, to me, that date window is kind of small. Could just be the video.

  • @claytonchamberlain2783

    What are your thoughts on the tech in some of the higher priced sinns? Are they worth it to you?
    I ask because for people who don’t think the tech is worth the reduced serviceability that comes with it, this watch is probably a great sinn to buy. For people who think the dehumidifying tech is worth it the 856 may be the way to go.

    • @NutriBRO
      @NutriBRO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Chamberlain I think it’s worth it, but you really need to be a serious watch nerd to appreciate the dehumidifying tech, oil cases, tegimented steels, etc.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      no need to be a nerd for the tegimented case: it looks in color a bit like titanium, but it really keeps lookin like new (without the usual unavoidable scratches)

    Great video of a great watch.
    I am one of the haters of outer AR and always mention it in my videos. To me it's the stupidest decision a watch company can make. I still find the watch incredible

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My 556 is a bit over 7 years old now, and has been worn almost daily, and it still has no scratches in the outer AR coating of the glass. (i tend not to smash or scratch it by purpose, but i'm not "babying" it.)

    that accuracy sounds WAY off man! the ETA top grade movt's like the 2824 top has the SAME components as the chronometer certificate. it seems that the only difference is that the top grade ETA's are just not sent for certification. they are supposedly regulated to 5 pos. whether they deal with isochronism and heat and cold I doubt it.

    So Glycine watches are the most accurate mechanical watches around, more accurate than Rolex and Omega, and way more accurate than Sinn with their, in this case, minus 10sec./day. Glycine seems to have spent time and money on doing their own magic, assembling the ETA themselves, testing it, regulating it and re-regulating it. All my 5 Glycine’s run at -1 to +1 per day, two of them +1 sec/month. The damage Invicta did after buying the company seems to jave been only the logo so far, though who knows what they will fuck up next. I’d say get yourselves a Combat SUB and an Airman at Jomashop before they run out of the overstock.
