Exactly. Pilot extension bracelet. Pilots were frequently wearing the instruments outside the jacket because they were freezing ass cold in the older tin cans. Much more convenient to see the instrument outside the jacket.
Lux watches are silly amounts of money. So much extra money for such a tiny (if any) amount of additional function and refinement. Definitely not worth it for me.
Nice review. A hot looking watch, great versatile wearer, love the lug holes for that .. great water resistance .. I've always heard the lume on the Sinn is disappointing for this price range, which would bug me after a while despite all the good things about this piece. I was looking at the 857 UTC before as a short term grail, but my interest waned because of the lume ... Stowa is now on the radar with the C3 lume.
I like the smaller sizes as well. I have a Marathon medium GSAR and I’m looking to buy either the Damasko DS30 (39mm) or this 556A by the years end. Decisions decisions
That iconic 12-3-6-9 dial Sinn is a masterpiece. Extreme well balanced layouts which embodies utility, sportiness, elegance all at the same time. Everything about it screams man's watch, but I sure would not find it unattractive on a woman either
I would prefer the Stowa, but the Sinn's 200m water resistance blows it away. I just wish Stowa would get the 100m of their sport model into their 40mm line.
I have the Stowa which is around same price as the Sinn $1000,00. I put a black nato on the Stowa its great and yes if it was a 100 m it will be perfect. Sinn 556 is a real tool watch to take any place, vacations, sports etc.
The Hamilton Khaki has the same 2824 ETA movement and a display case back. No it's not water proof to 200 meters. But it's about half the price of the Sinn!
Sinn has a Top Grade ETA, anti magnetic, shock proofing (that comes with the top grade) plus the 200 meter rating and the awesome bracelet. I've had both, not arguing your point, just elaborating on the differences.
Helmut Sinn was with Bell & Ross for about 10 years in the early 90's to about 2002 which accounts for the similar look. The Stowa and Damasko are nicer than the 556 I think
Sinn's H-Link clasp is absolute garbage. It feels cheap and like tin. The bracelet is great, but that clasp is cheap and difficult to open. It's a great watch, but the price should be around $800... not $1300.
Can someone please tell me why all watch reviewers all where the watch wrong ? U should where the watch back from your wrist bump. Not on it or in front of it. Cringe to where it wrong
S on the crown really looks likr shit... In what way is this watch German made? Movement is Swiss/Chinese and the rest produced in Germany? Or is it "assembled in Germany"?
The best review of the sinn 556A on TH-cam.. 👍🏼
Thanks for your support!
I ordered with red second and I can’t wait!
Also great review!!
Just ordered one myself. How do you like your red second hand watch?
Me too. Now for many cool straps! Zealande RED rubber first.
The part where you dimmed the lights and moved the source around, that just slayed me.I love the look of this watch, great review.
Just picked up model with red second hand. Simply love it!
Congrats, enjoy it!
Me too. Red second hand. Zealande RED rubber strap will pop!
Damasko’ s indices are an eyesore.
Just a thought, my dad used a diver's extension to wear his watch over his flight jacket. Not sure how common this is now but...
Exactly. Pilot extension bracelet. Pilots were frequently wearing the instruments outside the jacket because they were freezing ass cold in the older tin cans. Much more convenient to see the instrument outside the jacket.
I have promoted the 556I B to grail. It was the Explorer but I can't ever see wearing that much money on my wrist.
Lux watches are silly amounts of money. So much extra money for such a tiny (if any) amount of additional function and refinement. Definitely not worth it for me.
A great review, I couldn't agree more. Love the 556 as a great all around, understated classic.
You should have a look on Archimede Outdoors as a contender as well! Love the Sinn!
Agree! I love mine
just picked up the mother of pearl version, tuesday cant come soon enough

Great review, thank you. The 556i is on my short list of a 36-38mm pilot/ tool, everday type of watch. I like the smaller sizes.
I like the smaller sizes as well. I have a Marathon medium GSAR and I’m looking to buy either the Damasko DS30 (39mm) or this 556A by the years end. Decisions decisions
Will the bracelet fit an 8 1/2” wrist?
A bit small? How and why? This watch doesn't look small on your wrist by any stretch of the imagination.
What strap is that on the Damasko DS 30, it doesn't look like factory and I can't find it anywhere.
You should compare the Seiko Sarg009 vs Sinn 556A
too bad the sarg is a bit too big for me

I like the Sinn, but I'll get the Stowa Flieger Klassik anyday!
I would prefer the Stowa, but the Sinn's 200m water resistance blows it away. I just wish Stowa would get the 100m of their sport model into their 40mm line.
Nice. Just picked up a Damasko D36. They make a bracelet for it but it’s $$$. Interestingly, a Damasko used to make cases for Sinn...
I have the Stowa which is around same price as the Sinn $1000,00. I put a black nato on the Stowa its great and yes if it was a 100 m it will be perfect.
Sinn 556 is a real tool watch to take any place, vacations, sports etc.
Archimede has a 100 meter version. Its even cheaper.
Great review!
If this watch had seiko's lumibrite it would be an awesome piece.
The lume should be booming for a pilot watch. And the second hand is critical to be lumed. Navigation requires seconds to be seen.
Diver's extension on a Pilot watch?? 🤔🤔
Jasper Shell
It IS 200m water resistant
Flight suit extension
Beautiful watch!
Great review, really love the Sinn!
Thanks Bob!
"reverse halo model" never thought about it but you are quite right.
Thanks for the feedback Sir!
What is your wrist size??
I’m on the fence with sinn or damasko
Hector Merc sinn all the way
Damasko’s are better made. I’ve owned both brands, there’s no comparison in their construction quality.
20mm bracelet not 22mm.
“Definitely won’t be mistaken for a woman’s watch” that’s an important feature yes..! Lol. Nice review, awesome watch
Nice video, consider wearing long ladies gloves (to the elbows) so you can protect the watch while wearing it on your wrist.
Sarcasm?
😂😂😂

alllllrrrright

"much lower price" for Stowa no longer applies. In Europe Stowa 40mm flieger is now more expensive than Sinn 556 on a leather strap...
I like my 556 but now the ds30 made it look like a ladies watch.
Yes looks good but I’d rather have Grand Seiko similar dial with 3D Arabic 12,3,6 and 9 numerals
Sinn's H-Link clasp is absolute garbage. It feels cheap and like tin. The bracelet is great, but that clasp is cheap and difficult to open. It's a great watch, but the price should be around $800... not $1300.
So how did you determine the 800.00 price exactly?
Neither brand has a pedigree. You must be high.
This is no doubt a great watch, but I'd hardly call it iconic.
The 22mm lugs is just a killer. That’s too big on that watch. Very disappointing otherwise I might grab one
GuitarD30 they're 20mm
